CHAMBERS -- Sheila B. Chambers, 59, a resident of Albuquerque since 1958, died Thursday, September 22, 2005. She is survived by her husband, Joel R. "Rudy" Chambers; daughters, Lucia Davis and husband, Richard, and Anita Romero; step-daughter, Judy Leyba Romero; step-son, Able Romero; grandchildren, Dakota, Sara, Michael, Steven, Anthony, Ashley, Vanessa, Joseph, Daniel, Andrew, Valerie; twin sister, Shirley Morgan; sister, Ruby Ayala; brothers, John William Hoefer Jr. and Thomas Hoefer; special nephew, Jake Morgan; as well as several other nieces and nephews; Clyde Thurman and family; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph A. Romero; her brother, James Hoefer; and her parents, John and Ruby Hoefer. Mrs. Chambers was a member of the Living Word Baptist Church. She had worked for many years at Furrs Supermarket, Albertson's, and Wal-Mart. Services will be held on Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel with Pastor Jim Nicholson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. CRAFT -- HOLLY MATEY CRAFT 1950 - 2005 Holly Matey Craft, of Ithaca, NY died suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday, August 25, 2005, while on a cruising vacation in Maine with her husband. Holly was the beloved daughter of Marion and Douglas Matey of Albuquerque and cherished wife of Dr. Harold Craft who recently retired as Cornell University Vice-President with wonderful plans for a happy future for both. Holly received her B.A. degree in Art History from the University of New Mexico where she also served as a Curator Fellow at the Tamarind Institute. She later enrolled in Cornell University's MA/PhD program in the History of Art and Archeology and participated as a field archeologist at the Cornell/Harvard/Berkeley excavation in Sardis, Turkey. Upon her return to Ithaca, she took employment at Cornell where, in time, she met and married Harold Craft. Shortly after, Holly enrolled in the MA program in Environmental Arts and Textile Design at Syracuse University and simultaneously founded Talisman Designs, her business that created art-to-wear garments of unique and extraordinary design. Holly was a graceful, cheerful, optimistic spirit, an adventurous and affectionate person who cared deeply for others. She was extraordinary in her ability to see the bright side and to lift the spirits of those around her. Holly was preceded in death by her brother, Andrew Matey. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Harold (Hal) Craft; her parents, Douglas and Marion Matey; brother, Douglas Matey, Jr. and wife, Kathleen; brother, David Matey and wife, Dori; sister-in-law and her spouse, Patti (Craft) and Robert Booraem; step-sons and their spouses, Adam and Susan (Hansen) Craft, and David and Amanda (O'Brien) Craft; four granddaughters, Anna, Karina, Celia, and Helen Craft, in whom she delighted constantly; and all her uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, and nieces. A Service to celebrate her life was held on Wednesday, September 14, 2005 in the Sage Chapel of Cornell University Contributions in memory of Holly may be made to Dr. Orli Etingin, Director of the Iris Cantor Women's Health Center at the Weill Cornell Medical College, 1300 York Avenue, Box 123, New York, NY 10021, care of the Office of Development.

CRONICAN -- Harriett Bates Cronican passed away peacefully at her home Monday, September 19, 2005. She was born December 27, 1920 to J.W. "Jack" and Caroline Colcord Bates in Oklahoma City, OK. Raised and educated in Tulsa, she attended Principia Collage in Elsah, IL and was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Tulsa, Albuquerque, and Boston. Mrs. Cronican was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jack. After wartime assignments in New Mexico and Texas, she and her family moved to Albuquerque in January 1945. She was a member of the Junior League of Tulsa and helped organize, and became a member of the Junior League of Albuquerque. She loved flowers and flower arranging. She was interested in Opera and Symphony and was chairperson for the first Donitas' ball. Mrs. Cronican was a member of the Colonial Dames of America. Her favorite sport was golf and she was a charter member of Four Hills Country Club and, to date, a senior member of the Albuquerque Country Club. She had a second home on the golf course at Angel Fire, NM. Mrs. Cronican is survived by her husband of 62 years, Frank; sons, Frank, Jr. and wife, Jonny, Peter and wife, Linda; daughter, Lynn and husband, Robb Jones; brother, W.C. "Bill" Bates and wife, Pat; and six grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held Saturday, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Cremains to be privately interred at Santa Fe National Cemetery. DANOFF -- Armida C. Danoff passed away Friday, September 16, 2005, with her family at her side at the family home. She was born October 7, 1918 and raised in Gallup, NM, a graduate of Gallup High School, an active officer and member of several civic and community organizations for the first seventy years of her life in Gallup. For the past 17 years, she has lived with her daughter and her family in Cowan Heights, CA. Preceded in death in 1988 by her husband, Isadore H. Danoff, a prominent Gallup businessman, she is survived by her daughter, Pamela S. Danoff-Kraus; son-in-law, Robert W. Kraus; and granddaughter, Jillian Amaris Kraus, all of Cowan Heights, CA; a brother-in-law, Hyman Danoff, Albuquerque; a sister-in-law, June Danoff, Tucson, AZ; a niece, Kerry Danoff, Atlanta, GA; three nephews, Michael Danoff (Margo), Albuquerque; Robert Danoff (Eve), Paradise Valley, AZ, and Eric Danoff (Barbara), Piedmont, CA; seven grandnephews; a cousin, Josephine Del Curto, Gallup; and numerous other family members. A Rosary and Eulogies will be held Friday, September 23, 2005, 7:00 p.m., Rollie Mortuary Chapel, Gallup. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, September 24, 2005, 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral. She will be buried at Sunset Memorial Park. DUNLAP -- Marjorie Ruth Stuart Dunlap, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1946, joined her soul mate and husband of 59 years who passed away June 25, 2005, on September 19, 2005. She is survived by her daughter, Carla Dunlap Beitler and husband, Rick; son, Carl Stuart Dunlap and Debbie Reynolds, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Taralyn Beitler Amen and husband, Darrel of Dallas, Becca Beitler and Brad Beitler of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Luke, Lawson, and Lynlee Amen of Dallas, sister, Lizette Hanson of Utah, brothers-in-law, Clyde Dunlap and wife, Doris and Roy Dunlap, Albuquerque. Marjorie was born on January 25, 1924 in Ogden, UT to David C. and Emily Mumford Stuart. She was the youngest of eight children. After WWII, Marjorie met Carl on a blind date. Three months later they were married and she moved to Albuquerque to raise their family. Together, in 1946, Marjorie and Carl established The Man's Hat Shop in downtown Albuquerque where their son Stuart still carrying on the family tradition. Marjorie was a gifted pianist and organist and played for many years at her wards at the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. GALLEGOS -- Casimira (Casey) Gallegos, age 91, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2005. She is survived by a daughter, Diana Conger and husband, Jim of Albuquerque; three sisters, Frances Quintana of Albuquerque, Isabel Pickering of California, Rose Cordova of Albuquerque; six grandchildren, Jeneane Anderegg and husband, Dennis, Andrea Gaston, Mimi Hoyle and husband, Richard, Arthur Kimball and wife, Jeanne, John Kimball, and Patrick Ryon; 15 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur A. Gallegos in 1993 and her daughter, Patsy Kimball in 1961. Casimira was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. LARA -- Joe H. Lara went home to be with the Lord on September 22, 2005 at the age of 86. He was born on October 22, 1918 in El Paso, TX. He was preceded in death by his son, Freddie Archuleta. LEACH -- H. Carolyn Leach passed away on September 21, 2005 after 12 years of living with ovarian cancer. Carolyn, 75, and her loving husband, Doyce, have lived in Albuquerque since 1983. Carolyn will be deeply missed by her family: Brian (USN, Retired) and Deborah Leach; the Revs. Shannon and JoAnn Leach; Anne and Paul Kundtz; and Stewart and Lea Leach. Tom, Andrew, Matt, Molly, Christopher, and Patrick will also miss their Grandma. Born on July 8, 1930 in Chicago, IL, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Brig. General Glen C. McBride and Winifred S. McBride. Carolyn attended the University of Missouri where she was involved in the Delta Delta Delta Sorority and where she met Doyce, a Delta Upsilon. In 1952, Doyce and Carolyn married in Dallas, TX. The couple spent the next 19 years living in California, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, and Nebraska. She and Doyce moved to Albuquerque in 1983. Carolyn was a docent at the Albuquerque Museum of Art and Natural History. She enjoyed her affiliation with Chapter AA of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and the Tri Delta Sorority. She and Doyce were members of the Albuquerque Country Club and she was honored to be a member of the Albuquerque Old Glass and Tuesday Literary Club. Carolyn and Doyce belong to The Cathedral Church of St. John where she was a Lay Minister and former Director of the Altar Guild. Carolyn's Memorial Service will be held at St. John's on September 29, 2005 at 3 p.m., immediately followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that donations be made in her name to the Cathedral Altar Guild or to the Albuquerque Museum Foundation.

LEWIS -- Richard T. Lewis, DDS, passed away on September 13, 2005 in Hobbs, NM. He was born September 9, 1937 in Albuquerque to Richard and Winifred Lewis. He graduated from Highland High School in 1955. He was eagerly anticipating his 50th class reunion on September 24, 2005. He attended UNM where he pledged Phi Delta Theta and was active even as an alumnus, serving as house advisor and in other roles. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years at Ft. Ord and Fort Benjamin Harrison followed by 8 years of reserve duty. Professionally, he graduated from Baylor University College of Dentistry in 1967 and practiced for many years in Albuquerque with a satellite office in Estancia. Dr. Lewis then contracted with the U.S. military and practiced at Edwards AFB in Rosamond, CA; Groton, CT, and Heidelberg, Germany. He then headed Community Dental Services in Hobbs, NM, retiring in 2002. He is survived by: his daughters, Jennifer Lewis of Atlanta, GA and Sara Lewis of Little Rock, AR; his sister, Karen (G. Jan) Spruill of Ft. Collins, CO; nieces, Natalie (Chris) Burman of Okinawa , Japan and Angie Spruill of Brooklyn, NY; nephew, Blaine (Karen) Spruill of Austin, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. He treasured relationships with family and friends. LOFTIS -- VERA LOFTIS. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 24, 2005 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel, for Vera Loftis, age 77, of Roswell, who passed away September 21, 2005 at her home. She married Clyde Woods in 1944. Together they had 6 children. She married John T. Loftis in 1973. He preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Donald E. Woods and wife, Pam of Calgary, Canada, Tommy M. Woods and wife, Becky of Chandler, AZ, two daughters, June Anderson and husband, Jeff of Roswell, NM, Patsy L. Spongberg and fiance, Kurk Bryson of San Diego, CA. She is also survived by two brothers, Lindsey Cohorn of Wilcox, AZ and Kenneth Cohorn of Las Cruces, NM; one sister, Muriel M. LUCERO -- Betty Isabel Lucero, age 61, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, September 22, 2005. She was born in Socorro, NM and was a resident of Albuquerque. Betty is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Magdaleno Lucero of the family home; a daughter, Saoie Lucero; grandchildren, Margarito and Vicente Lucero; one great-grandson, Darius Lucero; brother, Eduardo Madril; sisters, Inez Jaramillo and Mary Rose Chacon. Betty will be greatly missed by her loving family. MCINTYRE -- Richard James McIntyre, age 54, passed quietly away September 21, 2005. By his side was his beloved wife, Linda. Richard was born May 21, 1951 in New Jersey. A devoted Broncos fan, he lived for many years in Denver, CO. After a short stay in Florida he and Linda moved to Albuquerque to be closer to family. Richie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Jean McIntyre, and will be lovingly remembered by brother, Robert and wife, Sandy of Greely, CO; sisters, Ann and husband, Leonard Simmons of Albuquerque, Linda McIntyre of Albuquerque, and Jeanie McIntyre of Colorado Springs, CO; nephews: Leonard Jr. and Marshall Simmons of Tampa, FL, and David Simmons of Houston, TX; niece, Erin and husband, Matthew Hall and daughter, Sarah of Albuquerque. MCKENZIE -- Burton E. (Mac). Col. Burton E. (Mac) McKenzie, USAF, Retired, of Tome, Valencia County, died September 16, 2005 in his home with family present. He was born October 14, 1914 in Vermillion, SD and raised in Sioux City, IA. He graduated from the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York and married Doris Elizabeth Stephenson in 1940. He began his career as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. During World War II, he was a distinguished fighter pilot and was a Prisoner of War for Fourteen months in Germany. After the War, he continued his military career with the fledging United States Air Force. His many interesting tours included stations in Iceland, Afghanistan, and Peru among others. Although all of his assignments were personally rewarding, a favorite was his service of Perrin Air Force Base, a fighter pilot training base where he had the opportunity of leading his rocket team with distinction. He merited the respect of those who served with him and with his fellow members of the "Greatest Generation" earned our freedoms. Following his retirement in 1968, he settled his family in rural Tome, Valencia County. He thoroughly enjoyed and loved this community and the nature of his farm and its animals. He had the pleasure of teaching mathematics at Belen HS 1970-72. During this period he pursued his love of classic cars and collected Studebakers, which he raced to the Tierra del Sol County Club for frequent rounds of golf. He was instrumental in establishing and serving the Zia Chapter of the Studebakers Drivers Club. He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years; his children: Sandra (Richard) Berger, Burton (Pam) McKenzie, William (Diane) McKenzie, and Bonnie McKenzie; five grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. MONTOYA -- Ernest L. Montoya (aka Bubba), resident of Albuquerque, born July 2, 1943, in Torreon, NM, joined our Lord on September 21, 2005, after a long illness. Ernest retired as Chief Deputy (Captain) from the Bernalillo Sheriff's Department and was a member of the San Jose Society in Torreon, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonides and Jesus Montoya and his best friend and son-in-law, Michael G. Montoya. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dorothy; his sons, Ernest Jr. and Jesse Montoya and wife, Kimm; daughter, Leanne Montoya; grandsons, Dominic Montes, Orlando Montes, Andres Montoya, Mikey Montoya and Koby Montoya; granddaughter, Amanda Duran; great-grandson, Dominic Montes Jr.; six sisters and two brothers, Juanita Baca and husband, Phillip, Richard Montoya and wife, Teresa, Luella Kramer and husband, Carveth, Linda Sanchez and husband, Larry, Dora Gunckel and husband, Fred, Marie Rendon and husband, Jose, Julie Will and husband, Max and Michael Montoya and wife, Roni; and numerous nephews and nieces. A Rosary will be recited on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. also at the Church. Interment will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Baca, Tommy Lopez, Carlo Rendon, Patrick Rendon, Tim Sanchez and Bobby Trejo. VALE -- Thelma Mae (Seabourn) Vale, age 73, a resident of Albuquerque since 1969, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 22, 2005. She was born in Grove, OK and attended Haskell Indian College in Lawrence, KS where she met her husband, John. She worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Indian Public Health Service in Phoenix, AZ for a number of years. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed church, art, cooking, and traveling. She pursued her love for painting by attending many art classes and winning many awards. She was very proud of the artwork she sold. She often volunteered her time to help others and had many devoted friends that loved her dearly. She is survived by her husband, John; daughter, Brenda Peters and husband, Michael of Tucson, AZ; Beverly Berch and husband, Gordon of Keller, TX; David Vale and wife, Lisa of Kennesaw, GA, and seven grandchildren. Mrs. Vale is also survived by five sisters, one brother, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joe and grandchild, Rachel. Services will be held Sunday, September 25, 2005, 4:30 p.m. at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Private interment will take place on Monday.
