RIVAS -- Mrs. Dorothy J. Rivas, 85, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on January 27, 2004. Mrs. Rivas is survived by her two daughters, Rosemary Tafoya and husband, Jerry, Lizz Rivas and boy friend. Johnny Olguin; two sons, Ramon Rivas Jr., Leo Benavidez and wife, Louise; two sisters, Mary Griego and husband, Gilbert Sr., and Emma Montoya; two brothers, George Humphrey and wife, Patsy, Richard Humphrey and wife, Elizabeth; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Rivas was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon Rivas Sr. Mrs. Rivas was member of the Catholic Church. A visitation for Mrs. Rivas will be Sunday afternoon in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 2:00 p.m. by Herman Flores. A final visitation will be Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal SW with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m by Father Robert Lancaster. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be George Griego, Steven Tafoya, Daniel Griego, Leo Benavidez Jr., Gilbert Griego Sr., and Gilbert Griego Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Sean Humphrey, Donny Griego, Vincent Urias and Angela Rivas. FRANKLIN -- James Anthony Franklin, 69, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 14 years, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2003. James was born January 15, 1934 the son of Robert K. and Mary Ellen Kelly Franklin in Brooklyn, New York. After coming to New Mexico, he was an Evidence Technician with the Rio Rancho Department of Public Safety. James served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, the Italian American Club, and the Policeman's Benevolent Association. James is survived by five children, Michael Franklin and wife, Peggy of Rio Rancho, Theresa Bryant and husband, Jared of Rio Rancho, Robert Franklin and wife, Lidey of New York, Lori Franklin and Cindy Flores of Nevada; one sister, Mary Velletta of New Mexico; one brother, Gerard Franklin of Colorado; and ten grandchildren. Visitation will be held for James on Saturday, November 15, 2003 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday, November 16, 2003 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, November 17, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd., Rio Rancho. She was born May 27, 1940, in Corona, NM, to Jacinto and Elvira (Baros) Flores. She married Ismael Rivera in Corona, NM, on January 11, 1958. She is survived by her husband of 45 years Ismael Rivera, of Corona, NM; two sons Rick and wife Joan Rivera, of Albuquerque, NM, and James Rivera, of Corona, NM; one daughter Marietta Rivera Gallegos and husband Louis Lopez of Phoenix, AZ; best friend Jessie Garcia; four sisters, Amelia Maldonado, Odellia Tapia, Betty Rael, and Jean Chavez; five grandchildren and one great grandchild. A rosary will be recited Tuesday Nov. 4, 2003-7:00 PM & Mass will be celebrated Wednesday November 5, 2003-10:00 AM, both at Ascension Catholic Church, in Albuquerque, NM. SANCHEZ -- Mrs. Emma Candelaria Sanchez, 94, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on September 16, 2003 at home with her loving daughter, Mary Lou, at her side. Mrs. Sanchez is survived by three daughters, Emily Martinez and husband. Johnny, Rosie Serna and Mary Lou Saavedra and husband, Felix; five sons, Charles Sanchez and wife, Dolores, Willie Sanchez and wife, Josephine, Eusebio Sanchez Jr., Paul Sanchez and wife, Patricia, Johnny Sanchez and wife, Sandra; one brother, Epifanio Candelaria; 37 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; special niece, Frances Gonzales; Special granddaughter, Evelyn Costales; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Sanchez was preceded in death by her husband, Eusebio Sanchez Sr.; her daughter, Lucy Tafoya; her grandsons, Willie Sanchez Jr. and Victor Anaya; and her son in law, Eloy Serna. Mrs. Sanchez was a member of the Catholic Church, the Sacred Heart League, a pioneer of the San Jose Community, was an avid bingo player and had a great sense of humor. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at San Jose Catholic Church, 2401 Broadway SE with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Herman Flores. Final visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at San Jose Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by Father Terry Messer. NOGALES -- Joe Nogales, 66, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died Tuesday, September 16, 2003. He is survived by his brothers, Louis Nogales and wife, Gloria and John Nogales and wife, Julianne; sisters, Mary Helen Flores and husband, Ted, all of Albuquerque and Rose Ann Valenzuela of Las Cruces; fiancee, Maria Sommers of Las Cruces; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosalio "Rosy" and Elaisa Nogales and nephew, Louis Nogales, Jr. Mr. Nogales served in the U.S. Marine Corps. from 1955 to 1959. He volunteered for St. Vincent de Paul at Holy Ghost Church for many years and he also volunteered at the VA Hospital for many years. Rosary will be recited Friday, 8:30 a.m., followed by the Mass at 9:00 a.m., at Holy Ghost Church, 833 Arizona SE, with Father Thomas J. Mayefske, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt.
