Newman -- Mary Newman, age 76, of Friendship, WI died Wednesday, December 18, 2002 at the Villa Pines Living Center in Friendship. Funeral Services were held Saturday, December 21, 2002 at Roseberry's Funeral Home. Interment was at the Melvina Cemetery, Monroe County, Wisconsin. Mary was born May 15, 1926 to Francis and Katherine (Bruckler) Newman in Bristol, PA. She earned a master's degree in elementary education and taught grade school education. Mary also worked as a secretary in Chicago and in Westfield at the Screnock Law Office where she was responsible for instituting many of the procedures that are still being used to this day. Mary loved music-she was an accomplished pianist and became an opera singer after many years of practice. Mary was blessed with the opportunity to travel and saw many different parts of the world. Mary was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her brother, Vincent Newman Moriarty, NM; sisters, Evelyn Lewis, Albuquerque, Elsie Screnock Adams, WI; brother, Edward Newman, Albuquerque; many nieces and nephews; Roseberry's Funeral Home of Friendship assisted the family. Garcia -- Mrs. Tomasita Garcia, 86, a resident of Albuquerque, born on March 29, 1916 in Lemitar, New Mexico passed away on December 16, 2002. Mrs. Garcia was born to Hilario Gonzales and Presilla Benavidez Gonzales. Mrs. Garcia is preceded in death by her husband Atanacio Garcia. She was one of four children, preceded in death by a sister Adelina Castillo and survived by her brother Jose Leon Gonzales and a sister Julia Baca; She is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and a great-great-nephew. Survivors include her children, Larry Garcia, Emy Lewis and Lorenzo, Ray (Junior) Garcia and wife Prescilla, Tomas (Sonny) Garcia and wife Gloria; Mary Ellen (Nella) and husband Ernie, Priscilla Knotts, Mary Elza (Hita) and husband Don; 32 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Mrs. Garcia was a member of the Catholic Church and she lived most of her adult life in the North Valley with her three sons and four daughters. A visitation for Mrs. Garcia will be Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos NW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by her son, Tomas (Sonny). A final visitation will be Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by Father Ramon Aragon. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Gerald, James, Andrew, Danny, Steve, Chris, Randy, David, Tommy Dean, Randy, Wayne, Dwayne, Celestino (Tino) and Erik. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be her grand daughters, Deborah, Darlene, Loretta, Yvone, Julie, Yvette, Trisha, Marla, Gerri Ann, Gabriella, Marty, Tammy, Corinne and Mari."Mom, you touched the hearts and lives of so many people and you will be missed very much by all those who loved you." Lewis -- Vera Marguerite Lewis, born June 25, 1919 in Lone Wolf, OK, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2002, at Emerald Springs in Yuma, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Col. Terry S. Lewis; three sisters; and her parents, Beulah and Johnnie McConnell. She is survived by one son, Dr. Terry A. Lewis and his wife, Cheryl of Yuma, AZ; and one daughter, Martha A. Crane and her husband, Charles of Portales, NM; one grandson, Kennan Crane and his wife, Chandra of Atlanta, GA; and one granddaughter, Christy Crane of Atlanta, GA. Marguerite was a longtime resident of Albuquerque where she was an active member of First Baptist Church. She taught five-years-olds in Sunday School, Sunbeams, and Mission Friends for many years. Marguerite was also active in the Officersť Wives Club at Kirtland AFB, what is now the Alpha Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, and Gourmet. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, bridge, 42, and trout fishing, in addition to her family and church activities. Services will be held Friday, December 13, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serna -- Martin A. Serna, 86, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, November 22, 2002. He is survived by his son, Patrick Serna and wife, Eva of Lancaster, CA; daughters, Patricia Case and husband, John of Livermore, CA and Sandra Madsen and husband, Lyle of San Diego, CA; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sisters, Virginia Lopez, Ann Romero and Aurelia Gonzales and husband, Ralph, all of Albuquerque. Martin was preceded in death by his wife, Dortha Serna on December 15, 1993; brothers, Paul Serna of Pereris, CA and Julian A. Serna and wife, Vangie of Albuquerque; and brother-in-law, Frank T.
