Blackhurst -- Aaron Alexander born in Novato, Ca on January 25, 1976, passed away on November 13, 2002. He is survived by his loving partner Lissa Rosen; and five month old son, Sehth Alexander. He is also survived by his father, Richard A. blackhurst; motheer, Donna B. Messic; grandparents, H. Richard Blackhurst and Amanda Fran Johnson. Aaron leaves behind a sister, Rhonda Baker and her daughter, Shene; aunts, Frances Toon, Honey Griswold, Elizabeth Blackhurst, and Fontaine Gregerson. Aaron was preceded in death by his grandfather, Johnson; and aunt, Nancy Blackhurst. Aaron was extremely loved by his nine cousins and will be missed greatly by all. A Memorial to celebrate his life and to reunite family will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2002, 4:00 p.m. at Park Plaza Condominiums, 1331 Park Ave. SW, Albuquerque. Cremation has taken place.

Burns -- Preston Edward Burns, 18, of Albuquerque, died November 28, 2002. Born in Albuquerque on October 18, 1984, Preston is survived by his loving and caring mother, Susan (Suzi) Burns; and his"Auntie B", Barbara Grothus, both of Albuquerque; uncles and aunts, Tom Grothus and Wendy Slotboom of Seattle, WA and Mike and Heidi Grothus and their children, Casey and Michelle (MEG) of Niwot, CO;"Poppa and Grandma," Ed and Margaret Grothus of Los Alamos, NM; grandmother, Ruth Davis and family of Wilmington, NC; and many members of his extended family. He was preceded in death by uncle, Ted Grothus. The family wishes to express deepest gratitude to Preston's longtime mentor, Bill Bordone, of Wise Men, Wise Women, for his unswerving ten-year dedication to Preston. We also wish to acknowledge Leslie and Randy Bush for their commitment to his recent successes. Carrillo -- Rudolfo"Rudy" Carrillo, September 9, 1926 - December 2, 2002. Rudy, 76, a devout Roman Catholic, left this life to be with God on December 2, 2002. Rudy was a native New Mexican and WWII Veteran, serving in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre, 1942-45. Rudy was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Trujillo Carrillo; father and mother, Albino Carrillo and Ester Nevarez Carrillo; brothers, Joe and Albino; and sisters, Deborah and Corrine. Survivors include two sons, Albino Carrillo of Saint Paul, MN, and Rudy Carrillo of Albuquerque; one daughter, Yesela M. Carrillo, MD of Nashville, TN; two grandchildren, Kiara and Cruz; and many cousins and nieces; sisters, Cuca Gilliland of Redlands, CA and Dolores Rede of Las Cruces, NM. Rudy Carrillo was a graduate of Las Cruces High School and of New Mexico A&M College. After proudly serving his country, he spent much of his adult life in politics, running successfully for political office in the late 1950's and early 1960's. He was the County Clerk in Dona Ana County, and later a State Representative. He was the director of Urban Renewal in Gallup, NM. Later in life, Rudy became a successful insurance salesman while keeping up with local and state politics from his home in Albuquerque. Rudy was well known in New Mexico State Democratic circles, and worked with both lobbyists and politicians, even as he got older. Rudy will be remembered for his winning smile, charm, his way with words, and his perseverance in the face of all adversity, he never gave up. He was a truly wonderful man. A Mass and Memorial Service will be held at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2002. Cemetery is located at 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE.

Clark -- Elizabeth Joan Wilson Clark, 73, born in El Paso, TX, a resident of Albuquerque for 30 years, passed away on November 27, 2002. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert A. Clark,"Grandad," who passed away in December 2001. Joan is survived by her children, Denise Sprague, Robert Clark, Christi Hatch and Julie Clark; grandchildren, Nathan, Bonnie and Joel Sprague, Jesse, Cameron, Candace and Christan Hatch, Breanna, Nicole, Michael and Sean Sly; great grandchildren, Tyler Matthew and Megan Sprague, Jamie Hatch; brother, John M. Wilson, Jr. Her joy was her family. She devoted her life to the service of her family and many others. Joan was a woman of faith who taught her family to love the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She was a woman of refinement who gave her children and grandchildren a love for music and the arts. Joan was affectionately known as"Gammy" by those who cherished her association. Gammy and Grandad are together again! Gammy is parted from us briefly, but death has not separated us. Services will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taylor Ranch Chapel, 6009 Kachina NW with Bishop Daniel W. Lewis, officiating. Courtin -- Hazel Elizabeth Courtin, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, died peacefully on November 21 after a long illness. An only child, she was born to Nettie and Ralph McCall on December 10, 1919 in St. Louis, MO, and grew up there. Hazel is survived by her husband of 37 years, James Courtin, two daughters; Crystal Menefee of Santa Fe and Judy Petre of Jacomba, CA, son; Joseph Phillips of Murrieta, CA, two step-sons; Thomas Courtin of Albuquerque and Roderick Courtin of Phoenix, AZ, two step-daughters; Teri Boggess of Hanford, CA, and Connie Cooke of Fullerton, CA. Hazel retired from A & A Insurance Co. in 1981. She was a member of Edelweiss AM Rio Grande German American Club for 36 years. Cremation has taken place. Hazels remains will be interred in her mothers grave at Sandia Memory Gardens. Fleming -- Violet M. Fleming, a resident of Albuquerque for 44 years, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2002, at the age of 88, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. Her husband, John S. Fleming, preceded Violet in death. She was born March 12, 1914 in Pennsylvania. She is survived by her daughter, Joan Kosel and husband, Edward, of Albuquerque; sons, John"Jack" and wife, Josephine of Santa Fe, Richard and wife, Patty of Albuquerque; sister, Lois Hawk of Blakeslee, PA. Mrs. Fleming was a lifetime member of St. Paul's Methodist Church and the Sonata Club. In addition to being an excellent cook, Mrs. Fleming was known for taking special care of her husband, children and grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be sent to Vista Care Sandia Hospice in appreciation for the excellent care provided to her. Gallegos -- IN MEMORIAM MICHAEL WAYNE GALLEGOS Michael Wayne Gallegos, 50, died Wednesday in Portland, Oregon. Born on January 4, 1952, in Pueblo, Colorado, he had been a resident of Vancouver since 1986. Mr. Gallegos was a jeweler, goldsmith and 1979 graduate of The Paris School of Jewelry. He was the proprietor of Michael's Fine Jewelry in Vancouver. He studied Martial Arts and held a black belt in Kenpo, for which he was titled Yadansha. He was also schooled in Judo, Kajukkenbo, Wingchun Gungfu and was working on certification in Kosho. Mr. Gallegos is survived by his wife Maureen, at home in Vancouver and two children; Amanda Knox of Austin, Texas and Devan Gallegos of Seattle, Washington. He has two sisters in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Janie Wolf and Cristine King, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and an extended family throughout New Mexico, Arizona and Arkansas. He will be loved and missed by all. A Mass in his remembrance will be said Sunday, 11:00 a.m. on December 8, 2002 at the St. Mary's Church in Ojo Caliente, N.M. Followed by a memorial service at his Aunt Lupe Sena's home.

Green -- Janis Green, 56, beloved wife, Mother, and NaNa, passed away peacefully November 30, 2002 following a courageous ten year battle with Scleroderma. Jan was born February 8, 1946 in Fonde, Kentucky to Bratcher and Lavada Wilder. In 1963 she married Gary in Michigan and together they raised three beautiful daughters. In 1980 they moved to Los Alamos where they resided until Gary's retirement. In 1998 they moved to Logan, NM to enjoy retirement in their house on the lake. NaNa was especially proud of her grandchildren, spending many good times teaching them about Jesus' love and the importance of being a family. She made an incredible difference in the lives of everyone who knew and loved her. Although Jan's illness slowly took over her body, it did not diminish her spirit. Her quiet strength was an inspiration to all. She touched the lives of so many people and will always be remembered for her beautiful blue eyes and smile. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lavada Wilder; and a brother, Troy Edward. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Gary of Logan, NM; and three daughters, Dawn Gurule and husband, Michael, Jill Staveley and husband, Brian, and Kimberly Green and Dennis Martinez. Also surviving her are seven beautiful grandchildren, Jessica, Alyssa, and Natalee Gurule, Jordan and Danielle Staveley, and Vanessa and Kayla Martinez. In addition, Jan is survived by her father, Bratcher Wilder, and siblings; Onalee Henderson, Coy Wilder, Pauline Mays, Norma McCoy, Shirley Edds, and Thomas Wilder. The Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2002 and Thursday, December 5, 2002 from 5:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln.,Rio Rancho. Ingram -- Hattie L. Ingram, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1966, died Wednesday, December 4, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Dowling and husband Jim of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Amy Dowling Rourke and husband, Jason of Albuquerque; grandsons, Andrew Dowling and Peter Dowling, both of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Hannah Rourke, Melissa Rourke, Zachary Rourke, and Vanessa Rourke, all of Albuquerque; brother, Robert Nelson, of Ellis, KS; brother-in-law, Harold Ingram and wife, Jeanie of Wichita, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ingram was born in Ellis, KS to Axel and Hannah Nelson. She married Herb Ingram July 7, 1940 on the family's homestead. He preceded her in death September 13, 2000, after 60 years of marriage. They managed theatres in Kansas for many years. In 1958, during the Oil Boom, the family moved to Farmington and then to Albuquerque in 1966. She had been a bookkeeper in Farmington and Albuquerque, having worked for Zales, AAA of New Mexico and Van Atta Labs. She was a great fan of all sports, especially baseball. Mrs. Ingram was a very loving and beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2002, at 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Pastor Bruce Wilder officiating. Lince -- Major Robert L. Lince, USAF, Retired, died at his home in Albuquerque, November 22, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Carole Lince; daughters, Laurie L. Chancellor and Bonnie L. Byrd of San Diego, CA and Sandra L. Going of Greenwood, SC; and five grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at the Kirtland AFB Chapel on Friday, December 6, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. Interment, will full military honors of his cremated remains will be held at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, CA. Robert loved his friends and took great enjoyment in maintaining his stamp collection. Lynn -- Ellen Lynn, resident of Albuquerque since 1949, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2002, at the age of 85. Her husband, Lloyd Lynn, preceded Ellen in death. She was born March 26, 1917, in Ohio. She is survived by her daughter, Norma Pierce and husband, Alan, of Albuquerque; son, Dennis of Peralta, sister, Althea Lynn of Springfield, OH, and brothers, Jack Styer of Deland, FL, and Kenneth Styer of Phoenix, AZ. Mrs. Lynn was a member of the Fellowship Christian Reform Church for more than 15 years. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 5, 2002, from 5-8pm at Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors, with a graveside service on Friday, December 6, 2002, at 11:00am at Sunset Memorial Park. Machin -- Edwin Dale Machin, a resident of Albuquerque for 52 years, went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on December 2, 2002. He died of complications due to his lung disease at the hospital. Ed was born on May 30, 1928 in Columbus, OH. He met his beloved wife, Rose Marie Machin of 53 years while he was in the service, stationed in St. Louis, MO. After going to school in Chicago, IL, the couple moved to Albuquerque. Ed was employed by Sandia National Laboratories for 36 years. He worked as a member of the technical staff, a job he loved to do. During his retirement, Ed was actively involved in the New Mexico Wildlife Federation. He served as president for one year in the Albuquerque Wildlife Federation and two years with the New Mexico Wildlife Federation. Ed had a passion to preserve and protect our New Mexico Wildlife. Ed was an avid hunter and fisherman. He looked forward to the yearly trips to hunt with his son, grandson, son-in-law, and friends. Ed is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Machin of Albuquerque; his daughter, Patricia Perovich and husband, Joey Perovich; grandson, Damon Deveaux; granddaughters, Alicia Deveaux and Elena Perovich of Taos. His son, Glenn Machin and wife, Terri Machin; grandson, Jude Machin and wife, Amber of Lubbock, TX; granddaughter, Michelle Machin; grandson, Christopher Machin of Albuquerque; his daughter, Nancy Caldwell and husband, Kevin Caldwell; granddaughter, Kylee Caldwell and grandson, Casey Caldwell of Albuquerque. Ed was a loving and compassionate husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed, but the lessons he taught his family will endure forever. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. on December 7, 2002 at French Mortuary - Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW (3 blocks N. of Paseo del Norte) with Pastor Jeff Lust, officiating. Martin -- Donald J. Martin passed away on December 1, 2002, at the age of 79. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Eunice (Freddie) Martin; son, Steven Martin; daughter, Laurie McKeough and husband, Sean; daughter, Heidi Martin; son, Terry Sciarrotta and wife, Patty of California; four grandchildren, Matt Berg and wife, Anna; Maura McKeough; Benjamin Martin and Mitchell Martin; and one great-grandchild, Kierstin Berg. A Veteran of three wars, he entered the US Army in 1943 and was on active duty for 33 years. He retired on September 1, 1976 as Commander of the Albuquerque Field Office, 901st Military Intelligence Detachment, US Army Intelligence Agency, which provided dedicated intelligence support to the Defense Nuclear Agency. Throughout his military career he served 132 months oversees and served in significantly important intelligence assignments in Europe, Southeast Asia, and the United States. In his 33 years of military service, he was awarded numerous medals including the Legion of Merit, the nation's second highest award for exceptional meritorious service. Cremation has taken place and there will be no formal services. Friends are invited to a gathering at the family home in celebration and remembrance of his life, on Sunday, December 15, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Martinez -- Toribio (Grandpa Rodie) Martinez, 73, a lifelong resident of Cuba, New Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2002. Toribio was born January 23, 1929 in Cuba, New Mexico. He was a kind, gentle man. He had been a cattle rancher all his life, retiring after 65 years. Toribio enjoyed hunting, was an excellent marksman, loved the outdoors. He was a"true cowboy". Toribio was a Senior Companion for seven years. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cuba, NM. He was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Martinez in 1984. Toribio is survived by his loving wife, Ramelia of the family home; four children, Patricia Martinez of Albuquerque, Emily Montoya and husband Leroy of Cuba, NM, Anthony Martinez of Cuba, NM, and Amy Martinez of Albuquerque; two sisters, Josephita Herrera and Liva Lucero; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2002 from 5 PM to 7 PM with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cuba, NM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 6, 2002 at 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cuba, NM with Fr. John Boland as the celebrant. Mcclure -- Fred H. McClure, November 26, 1917 - November 27, 2002. He is survived by his brother, John; sister-in-law, Cornelia; sister, Mary of Albuquerque; as well as nieces, nephews and friends. Born in Detroit, MI, he lived and was educated in Cleveland, OH until 1956, when he moved to California. He was valedictorian of his class at Cathedral Latin High School in 1935 and, after service in WWII, he graduated Magna-Cum-Laude from John Carroll University in 1953, and received a Master's Degree from Western Reserve University in 1956. His business career extended from 1936 to 1953, when he began to teach at John Carroll University. He moved to California where he taught at Foothill Junior College for 30 years. His military service began when he enlisted in October 1941. He spent time overseas in Hawaii in the Infantry and in England as a Supply Officer in the Air Force. He returned to the U.S. in 1945 and joined the Air Force Reserves. His rank at death was that of Lt. Col., Ret. Padilla -- Anita"Annie" Padilla, 72, a resident of Jarales, NM, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at an Albuquerque hospital. She was a devout member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. She worked as a nurses-aid for the Belen General Hospital, which later became Belen Presbyterian Hospital, and retired after 32 years of outstanding service. Her specialty was taking care of newborn babies and their mothers for many years. Until her passing, she was always approached by many thankful mothers who she had helped through their pregnancy and delivery for the kindness and gentleness shown to them. Anita and her husband, Jacob, willingly made many sacrifices needed to see that their children were well educated. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Jacob Padilla in 1991. Shaw -- Mark H. Shaw, 58, a resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, November 30, 2002. He was born to Brad O. Shaw and Barbara Rae Shaw in Albuquerque. Mark was raised in Albuquerque graduating from Highland High School in 1962. He attended the University of New Mexico earning his BA in 1967 and Juris Doctor from UNM School of Law in 1969. Mark practiced law in Albuquerque for twelve years before moving to California where he presided as CEO of the United Church of Religious Science for nine years. He returned to New Mexico in 1991 to resume his law practice. Mark was a member of numerous professional associations including the American Bar Association, the State Bar of New Mexico, the Albuquerque Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association, and the Society for Non-Profit Corporations. He was also listed in Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in California, and Who's Who in the West and was listed in the International Directory of Biographies. A beloved husband, exemplary father, and loyal friend, Mark will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Roslyn Shaw; children, LCDR Daniel Paul Shaw, XO, USS McCampbell DDG85, Kathleen Ann Blakely, Brian Andrew Shaw, Rebecca Rae Kenny, and Amanda Leith Shaw, all of Albuquerque. Mark was the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother and father, his older brother, Richard, and his niece, Deborah Ann Shaw. Mark made his transition after a valiant seven-year battle with cancer. Sloman -- Alison Sloman, 40, of Albuquerque, died unexpectedly Tuesday, November 19, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Louise and her mother, Bente Busch Spann, both of Albuquerque; her father, Edwin Sloman; twin sister, Bettina Lynn and brother, Eric Sloman, all of Washington, D.C. area. Wolff -- Maurice Wolff was born in Brooklyn, NY, November 7, 1921, graduated from Brooklyn Tech, served in World War II in the U.S. Army in England, France, Belgium and Germany and worked as an architect in New York City in part of the design of the World Trade Center and other major city buildings. A member of the American Institute of Architects, he studied painting at the Art Students League in NYC and sculpture after moving to Albuquerque, NM, in 1993. He was active in the Duke City Bridge Club for the past nine years. He died on Monday, December 2, in the Hospice unit of Kaseman Presbyterian Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Bretta Weiss Wolff; daughters, Anita Orenzow and Joanne Wolff; grandsons, Jeffrey and Michael Orenzow, stepdaughters, Lee Weiss Maniolas, Sara Weiss, Emily Smith; and stepgranddaughter, Nikki Maniolas. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 5, at the First Unitarian Church, Carlisle and Comanche Avenues, in Albuquerque at 4:45 p.m.

Wright -- Essie Pearl Wright, 82, peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Dr. William F. Wright, Sr. of Albuquerque; her son, Dr. William F. Wright, Jr. and wife, Phyllis of Hobbs, NM; her daughter, Teresa Clack and husband, Robert of Florissant, MO; and two grandchildren, John and Jenna Clack. She was born on March 5, 1920 to Matthew and Martha Frost and was raised in St. Bernice, Indiana.Essie was the oldest of four children. She graduated from St. Bernice High School in 1938 and Terre Haute Business College in 1939. In the fall, Essie went to Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee, Illinois, where she met Bill, her husband-to-be. She earned two bachelor degrees, a B.A. in English and a B.A. in Business, while serving initially as the college presidents secretary and later as Business Manager and Treasurer for the college. She also taught classes at Olivet. Essie earned a master's degree in Business Administration from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She taught business classes at Monon High School in Indiana from 1949 to 1952. In August of 1952, Essie and Bill moved to Albuquerque to start careers with the Albuquerque Public School system. Essie taught at Albuquerque High's Evening School and in the Business Department of the University of New Mexico. By 1960, Essie was committed to her role as a full-time mother and wife. After Bill Jr. and Teresa left for college, Essie devoted herself to the full-time service of others. She especially loved to care for the elderly who were confined to their homes. In 1972, Essie began volunteering at the Senior Meal Site at Harwood United Methodist Church.The site later moved to the Church of Christ located on North Fourth Street. This program was taken over by the North Valley Senior Citizens Center in 1980, where Essie continued to volunteer. In the fall of 2000, she was honored for a total of 28 years of service to the North Valley Community. For over 50 years, Essie has been a member of Heights First Church of the Nazarene. She was also active in the WCTU.Essie was an avid reader and writer. The Bible and devotionals daily guided her life. Having always put God first in her life, Essie's family takes great comfort in the knowledge that she is at home with the Lord she loved and served. Services will be held Saturday, December 7th, 11:00 a.m., at Heights First Church of the Nazarene, 8401 Paseo Del Norte NE, with Rev. William B. Nielson officiating. Zubia -- Edna Zubia, 64, passed away in Dallas, Texas, November 27, 2002. She lived in Albuquerque and worked at Zubia Construction Company. Edna will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and friend to all who knew her.
