Abbott -- Herbert D. Abbott, born December 23, 1938 to Sam and Lena Abbott in Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away Monday December 9, 2002 after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Regina of the family home; daughter, Sarah; son, Charles; and one grandchild. Herbert is also survived by his brother, Hoyt Abbott; and sisters, Lera Stokes, Martha Lester, and Dorothy Jones. His parents, Sam and Lena Abbott; and his sister, Pearie Abbott preceded him in death. Herbert retired from Sandia Labs after 25 years as a Health Physicist. Anglin -- Donald (Don) Anglin passed away December 6, 2002 at Lovelace Hospital. He was born in Mountainair, NM on April 21, 1932. He was a veteran of 21 years in the military (Army and AF). He is survived by his wife, Daisy Anglin; two daughters, Marian Anglin of Albuquerque, Juanita Anglin Robertson of Oklahoma City, OK; one stepdaughter, Monica Bentley of Old Saybrook, CT; and one stepson, Chad Wilson of Topeka, KS. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Samuel Carl and Gertrude Anglin; brother, Jerry Anglin; and stepson, Bryan Wilson. There will be no services as he is being cremated. His wish was that we get all friends and relatives together for a party, which will be at a later date. His special comment was"it's not the years, it's the miles and I had a good life." Contributions may be sent to the charity of your choice.

Carrillo -- Rudolfo"Rudy" Carrillo, September 9, 1926 - December 2, 2002. Rudy, 76, a devout Roman Catholic, left this life to be with God on December 2, 2002. Rudy was a native New Mexican and WWII Veteran, serving in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre, 1942-45. Rudy was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Trujillo Carrillo; father and mother, Albino Carrillo and Ester Nevarez Carrillo; brothers, Joe and Albino; and sisters, Deborah and Corrine. Survivors include two sons, Albino Carrillo of Saint Paul, MN, and Rudy Carrillo of Albuquerque; one daughter, Ysela M. Carrillo, MD of Nashville, TN; two grandchildren, Kiara and Cruz; and many cousins and nieces; sisters, Cuca Gilliland of Redlands, CA and Dolores Rede of Las Cruces, NM. Rudy Carrillo was a graduate of Las Cruces High School and of New Mexico A&M College. After proudly serving his country, he spent much of his adult life in politics, running successfully for political office in the late 1950's and early 1960's. He was the County Clerk in Dona Ana County, and later a State Representative. He was the director of Urban Renewal in Gallup, NM. Later in life, Rudy became a successful insurance salesman while keeping up with local and state politics from his home in Albuquerque. Rudy was well known in New Mexico State Democratic circles, and worked with both lobbyists and politicians, even as he got older. Rudy will be remembered for his winning smile, charm, his way with words, and his perseverance in the face of all adversity, he never gave up. He was a truly wonderful man. A Mass and Memorial Service will be held at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2002. Cemetery is located at 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE.

Castro -- Frances B. Castro, 77, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away Monday, December 9, 2002. She is survived by her children, Robert Castro, Flora Castro, Stephnie Stone and husband, Kevin, Trini Taylor and husband, Maurice, Virginia Castro, Linda Durgan, Ted Castro and wife, Jennifer, Yvette Castro and fiance, Matthew Raynor; 23 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Hencho Baca and wife, Tina. Corbett -- Glen O. Corbett, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1959, died Sunday, December 8, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wilma Corbett; daughters, Glenda Davis and husband, Craig, Gail Fisher and husband, Ken of Kuna, ID; son, Gary Corbett and wife, Elena Giacci; daughter, Marilyn Corbett; grandchildren, Robin and Tim Booth, Jennifer Steffens, Karen and Brian Whaley, Lisa and Arlis Ball, Leon Corbett, and Lora and Robert Taylor; great-grandchildren, Sara, Allie, Matt, Derrek, Spencer, Nathan, Andrew, Cody, Akalah, Aidan, and Dylan; and sister-in-law, Helen Moore. Glen was born in Huntington, WV on December 12, 1922. He served in the United States Navy in WWII in the Submarine Services as an electrician's mate. He worked for the Bendix Corporation and Sandia Laboratories, retiring in 1988. He was active in the Submarine Veterans of WWII and Bear Canyon Senior Citizens Center. He was an avid"HAM" Radio operator and enjoyed senior softball and poker with his friends. Cortez -- Mr. Margo Cortez died Monday, December 9, 2002 in Albuquerque at the age of 83. Mr. Cortez was part owner of Brewer Specialties. In 1970 he received the Colonel Aid de Camp from the staff of the Governor of New Mexico, David F. Cargo. He was also the captain of the ushers at the 8:00 a.m. Mass at St. Therese Catholic Church. He was a considered a beloved honorary grandfather to many. Mr. Cortez is survived by his wife, Betty (Negrita) Cortez of the family home; son, Arnold J. Cortez and wife, Donna of Rio Rancho; beloved sister-in-law, Della Tafoya; brother, Albert J. Cortez and wife, Flora; his twin sister, Tomasita Chavez; sisters, Angie Gurule and husband, Luciano, and Margaret Armijo and husband, Luis; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mr. Cortez will be held on Thursday at St. Therese Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Elias -- William (Bill) Elias, a resident of Albuquerque since 1977, died Friday, December 6, 2002. Mr. Elias was born October 23, 1924 in Las Vegas, NM. He is survived by his wife, Darlene Elias of Albuquerque; stepmother, Kate Elias of Albuquerque; half-brother, Tony Elias of Roswell, NM; half-sister, Diana Schuch and husband Chuck of Albuquerque. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Mary Elias. Mr. Elias was a city councilman in Las Vegas, NM in the 1960's and was active with the police department and was a volunteer fireman. Bill was also a lifelong member of the Elks lodge in Las Vegas, NM. Bill served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII. Elliot -- Jack J. Elliot, 74, of Decatur, AL passed away on December 8, 2002 at Decatur General Hospital. Jack was born on August 27, 1928 to Vernon L. Elliot and Viola Irence Sailors-Elliot in Nebraska. He retired from the U.S. Army with 21 years of service. Jack was a life member of the VFW and DAV; he retired from the Housing Authority in Decatur after 15 years. Mr. Elliot is survived by his wife, Daisy"Ann" Elliot of Decatur, AL; two sons, Lester Ray Elliot of Overton, NV, Vernon J. Elliot of Dalton, GA; and one brother, James L. Elliot of Benkelman, N.E.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at Ridout's Brown-Service Chapel in Decatur, AL with Rev. Don Wright. Gomez -- Leopoldo Gomez was born April 20, 1927 to Mr. and Mrs. Estanislado and Alfreda Gomez, passed away on December 7, 2002. He was raised on a farm in the town of San Pablo, NM in the Northern part of New Mexico. He was raised with one brother, Ismael Gomez; and six sisters, Senaida Gonzalez, and Petra Apodaca, Florentina Gomez, who are no longer with us. His surviving sisters, Luisita Apodaca, Magdalena Quintana, Fedelina Crespin; and one uncle Lorenzo Aragon. Leopoldo and Maria M. Gomez raised five sons and two daughters, Jose R. Gomez, Freddie Gomez, Pablo E. Gomez, Alice Gomez, Angie Gomez, Blas J. ťJerryť Gomez (deceased), and Richard A. Tony Gomez; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. He was Godfather to many, and a much loved uncle to countless nephews and nieces, cousins and friends. Leopoldo Gomez served in the Army during WWII and held the rank of Private 1st Class. His job description was Rifleman in the European Theater, guarding prisoners and also participated in Drill and Military Formation. Leopoldo was active in the Disabled American Veterans Honor Guard and he loved woodworking, dancing, casinos, and making friends. Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 4th and Stover SW. Two Rosaries will be recited, one on Tuesday, December 10, 2002 at 7:00 p.m., the second on Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2002, with burial following at Mt. Gonzales -- Orlando Gonzales Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away Monday, December 9, 2002 at the age of 71. Orlando was not only a man of God but a blessing to those that knew him. Even in his serious illness, Orlando showed graciousness and love to all. Orlando was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Gonzales; his parents, Lorenzo Gonzales and Pilar Madrid; and brother, Augustine Gonzales. Orlando is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sofia Gonzales, who took loving care of him until his passing with the assistance of his special brother-in-law, Nestor Chavez of Alameda. Orlando is also survived by his children, Orlando Gonzales Jr. and his wife, Rita, Suzanne Anaya and her husband, Jerry, all of Tome, Debbie Weaver of Los Lunas, Lynda Gonzales of Chicago, Ill; Richard Gonzales of Rio Rancho, and special granddaughter, Anita Weaver of Los Lunas. Orlando was deeply loved by his eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Gonzales and wife, Liz and Edmond Gonzales and wife, Ann; and one sister, Celia De La O and husband, Frank. His beautiful smile and tender spirit will be greatly missed. Hawkins -- Dolores Vigil Hawkins, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2002. She had recently moved back to Santa Fe. Dolores was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Moriarty, NM; also a member of the Altar Society. Dolores retired from the New Mexico Highway Department in 1969. She married Ernest Hawkins and moved to Moriarty where she lived for 33 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Hawkins; her parents, Meliton Vigil, Sr. and Guadalupita Rael- Vigil; her sisters, Annie Romero, Matianna Taylor, and Lucy Barreras; her brother, Meliton Vigil, Jr. She is survived by her brother, Ernest Vigil, and his wife, Anna Mae; her sister-in-law, Yolanda Vigil; her niece, Olinda Garcia; and many other nieces and nephews. Dolores is also survived by her daughter, Dorothy Peterson and her husband, Duke; their children, Anne Peterson and John Peterson, wife, Louise and their children, Kevin and Kate. Jaramillo -- Mrs. Josephine Jaramillo, 68, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on December 9, 2002. Mrs. Jaramillo is the beloved wife of 45 years to Mr. Lorenzo Jaramillo. Mrs. Jaramillo is also survived by two daughters, Mary Sophia Jaramillo-Barraza and husband Gustavo, Anna Marie Jaramillo and Martin Rodriquez; two sons, Joe Howard Jaramillo and wife, Sharon, David Lawrence Jaramillo and girlfriend, Martha Vigil; her half sister, Clara Tena and husband, Juan; her half brother, Lorenzo A. Kilmer -- Jack Stanwood Kilmer, 83, died Sunday, December 8, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Clydine Kilmer; one stepdaughter; three adopted children; one step-grandson; and four great- grandchildren. Jack served in the Army during WWII and retired from the FAA after 32 years of service. Jack was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner. He was past commander of the Legion of Honor and an avid golfer. He was a loving husband, excellent father, and faithful friend who will be missed by all those who knew him. Memorial Services will be held Thursday, December 12, 2002, 10:00 am, at the Shrine Center, 6600 Zuni SE. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Lewis -- Vera Marguerite Lewis, born June 25, 1919 in Lone Wolf, OK, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2002, at Emerald Springs in Yuma, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Col. Terry S. Lewis; three sisters; and her parents, Beulah and Johnnie McConnell. She is survived by one son, Dr. Terry A. Lewis and his wife, Cheryl of Yuma, AZ; and one daughter, Martha A. Crane and her husband, Charles of Portales, NM; one grandson, Kennan Crane and his wife, Chandra of Atlanta, GA; and one granddaughter, Christy Crane of Atlanta, GA. Marguerite was a longtime resident of Albuquerque where she was an active member of First Baptist Church. She taught five-years-olds in Sunday School, Sunbeams, and Mission Friends for many years. Marguerite was also active in the Officersť Wives Club at Kirtland AFB, what is now the Alpha Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, and Gourmet. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, bridge, 42, and trout fishing, in addition to her family and church activities. Services will be held Friday, December 13, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Little -- Howard Ray Little passed away December 5, 2002 in Scottsdale, AZ after a short illness. He was 71 years of age. Howard was born January 16, 1931 to Paul Little and Nina Turner Little in Silver City, NM. He grew up loving the ranching lifestyle and spent much time on the EZ-Ranch, his family homestead near Hurley, NM. After graduating from New Mexico A & M in 1952 with a BS in Animal Husbandry, he worked for the Selman Brothers ranch near Watrous, NM and moved to Boise City, OK in 1956. Howard spent nine years in Oklahoma operating a Mobile Oil Dealership with his first wife, Tina and their children. In 1969, Howard graduated from Baylor Dental College, Dallas, Texas, and opened his dental practice in Socorro, NM. Howard and Tina raised their children and were active members of the community. Howard retired from the dental practice in 1994. He married Bobbie Neal in 1996 and resided in Silver City, NM until his death. He was an active member of the Socorro Rotary Club and was honored by receiving the Paul Harris Fellow Award; he was a Mason, Scottish Rite Shrine Club and a Veteran of the Korean War. The Socorro Chamber of Commerce recognized his contributions to the community by honoring Howard as"Man of the Year". He was a member of the New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranch Board of Directors. He contributed to the Ranch by voluntarily treating hundreds of boys and girls. Howard was active in the New Mexico Dental Association and American Dental Association. He received many awards including"New Mexico Dentist of the Year" and the ADA Dental Fellow. Howard is survived by his wife of six years, Bobbie Neal Little of Silver City; children, Gayle and husband, John Jones of Truth or Consequences, Paula and husband, Jim Jenkins of Buckhorn, Vannetta and husband, Gary Perry of Socorro, Rayna and her husband, Cordell Aiken of Los Alamos, Randy and wife, Dulcy Little of Starkville, Mississippi, Kim and husband, Steve Allen of Deming, and Lynn and wife, Kim Neal of Silver City; grandchildren, Brad and Lauren Saulsberry, Eric, Keith, and Kimberly Jones; Jenna, Justin, Jace, and Jamie Jenkins, Galen, Dustin, and Brett Perry, Gayle and Will Holden, Jonathan, Christy, Benjamin, Micah, AnnaLee and Jesse Little, Justin, Wacey and Aubrey Allen and Seth Neal; sister-in-law, Dona Irwin of Deming. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul Little and infant brother, John Little; and first wife, Tina Johnston Little. Howard will always be remembered as the gentle cowboy. He was a true friend to all and was always doing for others with a giving and caring spirit. His most pleasurable times were with his family and riding horseback. Lovato -- The family of Evangeline Celina Lovato is sad to announce the passing of our beloved mother, wise matriarch and devoted wife."Vangie" left her family and everyone who had the privilege to know her a legacy of unconditional love that knew no limits in time or space. In her 80 years of service to not only her immediate family but also the children of her brothers and sisters and others in need, she listened, consoled, and unselfishly reached out with her every available resources. Lunsford -- Richard Jackson Lunsford, 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died on Tuesday, December 3, 2002, in Rowland, NC. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dora Lunsford, of the family home in Richmond, VA; sons, Richard J. Lunsford, Jr. and wife, Susanna of Buffalo, NY and William J. An electrical engineer, Mr. Lunsford graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1939 and remained active as a Professional Engineer until last year. He began his career with the Rural Electrification Administration. During WWII, he served overseas as a captain, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in the liberation of the Philippines. After the war, he continued his career as an engineer in Montana; Oregon; Caracas, Venezuela; Charles Town, WV; and Richmond, VA. He retired as a Senior Utility Engineer for the City of Richmond in 1990. Mr. Lunsford was a life member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the American Legion. A Master Mason, Mr. Lunsford was a member of Malta Lodge No. 80, of Charles Town, WV and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date. Morgan -- Walter D. Morgan, Jr., affectionately known as"Buddy", age 78, died Saturday December 7, 2002. Walter was born on February 23, 1924 in Los Angeles, CA to the late Walter Sr. and Jean Ethel Morgan. Walter was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. Walter was retired from the U.S. Air Force and from United States Fidelity and Guarantee Co. He lived in Albuquerque for 34 years. Walter was a member of the Masonic Lodge Temple #6. He volunteered in the community for the Teen Crisis Hotline, his church, Good Neighbor Fund and the Council of International Visitors. Survivors include his devoted wife, Anneliese M. Otero -- Rudolph F. Otero. The day was long, the burden I had borne seemed heavier than I could longer bear, and then it lifted-but I did not know some one had knelt in prayer. Had taken me to God that very hour, and asked the easing of the load, and He, in infinite compassion, had stooped down and taken it from me. Rudolph Fred Otero of Albuquerque passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2002. He was born on November 5, 1920 in San Rafael, Valencia County, NM to his parents, the late Amado L. Otero and Premia Mirabal Otero. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Fannie S. Otero and by his children, Rosalie C. Otero, David L. Otero, his wife, Dorinda, all of Albuquerque and Margaret Ann Otero-Keiser of Rio Rancho. Survivors also include three brothers, Arthur L. Otero of San Francisco, CA; Amado E. Otero, his wife, Lala, of Albuquerque; and Dan L. Otero of Phoenix, AZ and three sisters, Evangeline Otero Murphy of Tucson, AZ; Margaret Otero Kunkel, her husband, Wayne, of Albuquerque and Ann Otero C De Baca, her husband, Leroy, of Albuquerque. Rudy is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Michael Arthur and Carlos J. Otero and Andrea Ellen Otero-Benoit all of Denver, CO; Jeffrey M. Naranjo of Española, Kevin J. Otero, Anna Christina Yurcic, Jeremy F. Keiser and Derrick L. Keiser all of Albuquerque. Rudy's close-knit family includes numerous nieces and nephews and his only surviving aunt, Viola McBride, as well as his loving Godchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Rudolph was predeceased by his eldest son, Rudy Otero, Jr. in 1994 and by his brother, Robert Charles Otero in 1996 as well as by his beloved parents-in-law, David and Teresina Struck of Taos, New Mexico. Rudy was a faithful member of Risen Savior Catholic Community where he loved and appreciated his many friends there and the very special Spanish choir at the 8:00 a.m. Mass. Rudy served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific and the Philippines Liberation Ribbons and the Presidential Unit Citation. Upon his discharge from the service as a disabled veteran, he went to work with the New Mexico State Labor Dept. where he served for 38 years as a popular member of the management staff until his retirement. Among his hobbies were hunting and fishing, and local and state politics where he actively campaigned for his favorite candidates. Rudy was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served as the State Commander and served three terms as Post 5610 Commander. He also held other offices during his lifetime and received the VFW National Distinguished Service Award three consecutive years. He attended veteran's conferences throughout the country, including 26 consecutive years to Washington, D. C. lobbying Congress for veterans' benefits. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the AMVETS organizations, devoting untiring efforts to help with job training, hospitalization, pension and assistance to families. Rudy was Chairman of Jobs for Veteran Chapter in Albuquerque. He was named All-American Commander in the VFW as well as NM Veteran of the Year by the State Legislature and received numerous other awards for his service. He also served on the Veterans' Service Commission under Governor Anaya. Rudy was also a prominent civic individual, serving on independent committees for Better Schools, chairman for such groups as March of Dimes, the Heart Fund, the hospital fund drive, and the Governor's Committee for the Employment of the Physically Handicapped. Rudy's lineage dates back to the Spanish Conquistadores through Territorial Governor Miguel Otero and the legendary Lt. Col. Manuel Chavez of Civil War fame. His father and grandfathers were prominent ranchers and legislators in New Mexico. Rudy was a wonderful husband and father and a generous man that will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Palmer -- Chad J. Palmer, Master Sergeant, USMC Retired, resident of Bernalillo, passed away Friday, December 6, 2002. Chad was born in Sargent, Nebraska. Petty -- Ralph F. Petty, Jr., age 60, of Roswell passed away December 8, 2002 at his residence. Graveside Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2002 at Memory Lawn Memorial Park, 2605 East 19th Street, Rev. Don Jones of Highland Baptist Church officiated. Ralph was born February 27, 1942 in Carrizozo, NM to Ralph F. Petty Sr. and Zane Harkey Petty. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Margaret of the family home; his mother, Zane H. Petty of Roswell and his father, Ralph F. Petty of Abilene; two children, Jennifer H. Petty and John Benjamin Petty, both of Roswell; special friend, Travis Bishop of Roswell; brother, John D. Petty and wife, Jill of Albuquerque; two sisters, Karon Z. Petty and Sandra P. Stewart both of Roswell; an uncle and aunt, Jack and Chris Harkey of Carrizozo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ralph was a graduate of Carrizozo High School and attended University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. He moved to Ruidoso in 1958 where he began his banking career. While living in Ruidoso, Ralph was privileged to represent Lincoln and Sierra Counties as the youngest New Mexico State Representative in the late 1960's. His banking career later called him to Santa Fe where he acquired his first bank, the Bank of Santa Fe. Ralph spent many years in Santa Fe making friends and helping to promote the area. He was an active member of the New Mexico Amigos in the late 1970's. It was in Santa Fe where he met his wife, Mary Margaret Mead Petty. He later moved to Ruidoso where he was President and major stockholder of the Bank of Ruidoso. After retiring from a longtime banking career, Ralph moved his family to Roswell in 1992 to join his mother in the health food business, Down to Earth Nutrition Center. Ralph was a certified Nutritional consultant who used his thirst for knowledge to help others feel better. Prior to moving to Roswell, Ralph was a major stockholder of numerous banks in New Mexico, where he served as an officer and board member. Although Ralph was badly burned at the age of five, he lived his life with enthusiasm, courage, and confidence. He particularly enjoyed ranching, hunting and golf. Ralph loved his family, worked hard to promote New Mexico, and thoroughly enjoyed helping people heal themselves with God-given natural products. Ralph F. Petty, Jr. is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends. Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Reynolds -- Faye Reynolds,"Granny Faye" went home to be with her Savior, husband, two sons, and great-grandson on Saturday, December 7, 2002. She is survived by two daughters, Laverne Domingue and husband, Leroy of Sulphur, LA, Pat Darnell of Bernalillo; and two special grandchildren that she raised, Mike Foster and Darla McCary, who knew her as Mom. She also raised three great-grandchildren, Eddie Dehart, Tim Dehart, and wife, Lori Ann, Robbie Gross, and wife, Darce; and special daughter-in-law, Lovie Rice, all of Bernalillo; two sisters, Jerry McDonald of Mid West City, OK and Vada Hall of Azle, TX; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who she loved. Born September 30, 1913, Granny Faye liked to cook and sew and won a Blue Ribbon for her bread. Many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren have been warmed by a quilt that she has made. Rhodes -- Yvonne van der Veen Rhodes, 68 of Cedar Crest passed away on Monday morning, December 9, 2002. Yvonne also spent 17 years with her family living and working in Saudi Arabia. Her interests included working for the local neighborhood association and the water co-op, gardening, cooking, crocheting, grandparenting, and especially duplicate bridge. Shearn -- Helen Ann Henaman Shearn, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on December 9, 2002. Helen was born on October 10, 1927 in Armstrong, Iowa to Curtis and Jessie Lee Martin Henaman. She grew up in Albuquerque and was a graduate of Albuquerque High School and attended UNM. Helen loved arts and crafts and was very fond of her woodworking. Prior to retirement, she spent her career working as an assistant to the General Manager for KRZY radio, starting in the 1960's. She took a short hiatus, and then returned to the station for over 25 more dedicated years. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Helen was preceded in death by her mother, Jessie Lee Henaman. She is survived by her daughters, Linda and husband, Eddie Baragiola of Placitas, Shannon and Tom Szuszalski of Albuquerque; sister, Mary Lee Priestly of Albuquerque; her niece, Barbara Wolfe of Belen; and her precious canine companion, Hop Sing and a host of very special friends. Ulibarri -- Mary Ulibarri, 74, a resident of Veguita, NM, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2002. She was a member of the Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rosario and Sara Fontana; two brothers, Tony and Louie Fontana; and one sister, Josephine Hudson. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 12 years, Benny Ulibarri; her children, Robert Ortega, Jr. of Vista, CA; Marie Richardson of Dublin, CA; Yolanda Alvarez, Cindy Cardnes, and Toni Watt, all of San Bernardino, CA; Roberta Lopez of La Puente, CA; Lorriane Ortega of Walla Walla, WA; Olivia Patton of Littleton, CO; Robert Ulibarri of Las Vegas, NV; and Albert Ulibarri of Fontana, CA; 23 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Rosie Gentry of Covina, CA, Margo Reinhard of Carlton, TX, Carmen Rain of Azusa, CA; and two brothers, Rosario, Jr. of El Monte, CA and Frank Fontana of Woodlake, CA. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2002 at 5:30 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home with a Rosary following at 6:00 p.m. Services will be held in California with interment following in Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier, California at a later date. Vancuren -- Talmage Theodore VanCuren, Jr. (Ted), 57, died suddenly on Friday, December the 6, 2002 while hunting for pheasant in Medford, Oklahoma, with friends including his beloved nephew, Rob Anderson and his very close friend, Pat Riley. He was a passionate outdoorsman and avid hunter and fisherman who spent vacations and holidays pursuing his love for sport with friends and family in his motor home as they traveled about the country. Ted was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on April 2, 1945. He was preceded in death by; his father, Talmage Theodore VanCuren and his mother Katheryn Elizabeth Young VanCuren. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Sallie Anne; and four children, Serena Anne Weh and her husband, Pete of Los Lunas, Celia Dawn Brown of Ocala, Florida, Kelli Marie VanCuren of Los Lunas, and Talmage Theodore VanCuren, III (Teddy) and his fiancé, Cynthia Mendoza of Belen. He also left behind three sisters, Pride Anderson of Dallas, Texas, Gay Davis and Faith Goad both of Carlsbad, New Mexico and many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews. He will be missed by those he held as most precious; his grandchildren Morgan, Austin, Eric, Trace, Christopher, Abigail, Tony and one on the way. Many others called him Dad or Grandpa and will miss him including; Jason and Kari Rizzo, and their children, Katie and Timmy, Shawna Paul and Alan Harrington. Ted served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze star. He was honorably discharged in April 1970. Ted spent many years working in the construction industry as a site supervisor and was a master craftsman in his trade. In the spring of 1997, Ted rededicated his life to Christ and worked tirelessly to share his faith and passion for God with others. He was an active member of the Peralta Memorial United Methodist Church. Ted served on the Board of Trustees and the Future Facilities Committee. He was recently appointed to the Staff Parish Relations Committee and was admired and loved by all who served with him in his discipleship. Services will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m., at Peralta Memorial United Methodist Church, 25 Wesley Road, with Pastor Dave Blackwell officiating. Pallbearers will be Talmage ťTeddyť VanCuren, Rob Anderson, Pete Weh, Jason Rizzo, Steve Thompson, Allen Jameson and Alan Harrington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a memorial for Ted at Peralta Memorial United Methodist Church, 25 Wesley Road, Peralta, NM 87042 or to Parents Reaching Out, 1920 Columbia SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106.
