Blackhurst -- Aaron Alexander born in Novato, CA on January 25, 1976, passed away on November 13, 2002. He is survived by his loving partner, Lissa Rosen; and five month old son, Sehth Alexander. He is also survived by his father, Richard A. Blackhurst; mother, Donna B. Messic; grandparents, H. Richard Blackhurst and Amanda; and grandmother, Fran Johnson. Aaron leaves behind a sister, Rhonda Baker and her daughter, Shene; aunts, Frances Toon, Honey Griswold, Elizabeth Blackhurst, and Fontaine Gregerson. Aaron was preceded in death by his grandfather, Johnson; and aunt, Nancy Blackhurst. Aaron was extremely loved by his nine cousins and will be missed greatly by all. A Memorial to celebrate his life and to reunite family will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2002, 4:00 p.m. at Park Plaza Condominiums, 1331 Park Ave. SW, Albuquerque. Cremation has taken place.

Boggs -- William M. Boggs, January 30, 1929 - December 2, 2002. Our dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend, Bill, was called home to spend everlasting life with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 2, 2002. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Robert Dirk Boggs. He is survived by his sons, Dan Boggs and wife, Charlene, Mike Boggs and wife, Juanita; and daughter, Debbie Padilla and husband, Albert; grandchildren, Joey, Anthony, Dano, Jana, Michael, Amy and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Joey Tyler, Brittany and Kaeli. Memorial will be presented by dad's dear friend, Ronald K. Bump at Gate of Heaven Cemetery located at Wyoming and Paseo Del Norte at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 7, 2002. Brennan -- A. Laverne Brennan, a former Willcox resident died December 3, 2002 in Ft. Collins, CO at the age of 70. She was born in San Angelo, TX on March 26, 1932 to Joel P. Taylor and Nina Mae Payne. She moved to Willcox in 1979 from Ft. Collins where she had been a librarian asst. at CSU. Laverne most recently moved back to Ft. Collins after the death of her husband, Harold. She was a member of the Lambda Chi Omega Sorority, Willcox Cowbelles and the Friends of the Library in Willcox. Survivors include her sons, W.T. (Benita) Brennan of Albuquerque and R.N. (Kathy) Brennan of LaPorte, CO. Also surviving is her mother, Nina Mae Taylor of Albuquerque; brother, Marshall Taylor of Noble, MO; and grandchildren, W.C. Brennan of LaPorte, CO, Sean and J.J. Brennan both of Albuquerque; preceding her in death was her husband, Harold on July 24, 2002; and her father. Cremation will take place in Ft. Burns -- Preston Edward Burns, 18, of Albuquerque, died November 28, 2002. Born in Albuquerque on October 18, 1984, Preston is survived by his loving and caring mother, Susan (Suzi) Burns; and his"Auntie B," Barbara Grothus, both of Albuquerque; uncles and aunts, Tom Grothus and Wendy Slotboom of Seattle, WA and Mike and Heidi Grothus and their children, Casey and Michelle (MEG) of Niwot, CO;"Poppa and Grandma", Ed and Margaret Grothus of Los Alamos, NM; grandmother, Ruth Davis and family of Wilmington, NC; and many members of his extended family. He was preceded in death by uncle, Ted Grothus. The family wishes to express deepest gratitude to Preston's longtime mentor, Bill Bordone, of Wise Men, Wise Women, for his unswerving ten-year dedication to Preston. We also wish to acknowledge Leslie and Randy Bush for their commitment to his recent successes. Carrillo -- Rudolfo"Rudy" Carrillo, September 9, 1926 - December 2, 2002. Rudy, 76, a devout Roman Catholic, left this life to be with God on December 2, 2002. Rudy was a native New Mexican and WWII Veteran, serving in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre, 1942-45. Rudy was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Trujillo Carrillo; father and mother, Albino Carrillo and Ester Nevarez Carrillo; brothers, Joe and Albino; and sisters, Deborah and Corrine. Survivors include two sons, Albino Carrillo of Saint Paul, MN, and Rudy Carrillo of Albuquerque; one daughter, Ysela M. Carrillo, MD of Nashville, TN; two grandchildren, Kiara and Cruz; and many cousins and nieces; sisters, Cuca Gilliland of Redlands, CA and Dolores Rede of Las Cruces, NM. Rudy Carrillo was a graduate of Las Cruces High School and of New Mexico A&M College. After proudly serving his country, he spent much of his adult life in politics, running successfully for political office in the late 1950's and early 1960's. He was the County Clerk in Dona Ana County, and later a State Representative. He was the director of Urban Renewal in Gallup, NM. Later in life, Rudy became a successful insurance salesman while keeping up with local and state politics from his home in Albuquerque. Rudy was well known in New Mexico State Democratic circles, and worked with both lobbyists and politicians, even as he got older. Rudy will be remembered for his winning smile, charm, his way with words, and his perseverance in the face of all adversity, he never gave up. He was a truly wonderful man. A Mass and Memorial Service will be held at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery Chapel at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2002. Cemetery is located at 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE.

Clark -- Elizabeth Joan Wilson Clark, 73, born in El Paso, TX, a resident of Albuquerque for 30 years, passed away on November 27, 2002. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert A. Clark,"Grandad," who passed away in December 2001. Joan is survived by her children, Denise Sprague, Robert Clark, Christi Hatch and Julie Clark; grandchildren, Nathan, Bonnie and Joel Sprague, Jesse, Cameron, Candace and Christan Hatch, Breanna, Nicole, Michael and Sean Sly; great grandchildren, Tyler Matthew and Megan Sprague, Jamie Hatch; brother, John M. Wilson, Jr. Her joy was her family. She devoted her life to the service of her family and many others. Joan was a woman of faith who taught her family to love the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She was a woman of refinement who gave her children and grandchildren a love for music and the arts. Joan was affectionately known as"Gammy" by those who cherished her association. Gammy and Grandad are together again! Gammy is parted from us briefly, but death has not separated us. Coch -- Emma Mae Coch, 75, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2002 after a brief illness with cancer. She was a member of Northeast Church of Christ. Mrs. Coch is survived by her three daughters, Shellie Brandon, Paula Coch and Julia Holloman and husband, Roger; seven grandchildren, Tabitha, Jared and Lacee Brandon, Lindsay, Garrett and Paul Andrew Holloman, and John William Coch. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Coch and infant daughter, Ginger. Services will be held Monday, December 9, 2002, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE with Wayne Sharp and John Phillis officiating. Gallegos -- IN MEMORIAM MICHAEL WAYNE GALLEGOS Michael Wayne Gallegos, 50, died Wednesday in Portland, Oregon. Born on January 4, 1952, in Pueblo, Colorado, he had been a resident of Vancouver since 1986. Mr. Gallegos was a jeweler, goldsmith and 1979 graduate of The Paris School of Jewelry. He was the proprietor of Michael's Fine Jewelry in Vancouver. He studied Martial Arts and held a black belt in Kenpo, for which he was titled Yadansha. He was also schooled in Judo, Kajukkenbo, Wingchun Gungfu and was working on certification in Kosho. Mr. Gallegos is survived by his wife Maureen, at home in Vancouver and two children; Amanda Knox of Austin, Texas and Devan Gallegos of Seattle, Washington. He has two sisters in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Janie Wolf and Cristine King, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and an extended family throughout New Mexico, Arizona and Arkansas. He will be loved and missed by all. A Mass in his remembrance will be said Sunday, 11:00 a.m. on December 8, 2002 at the St. Mary's Church in Ojo Caliente, N.M.¯ Followed by a memorial service at his Aunt Lupe Sena's home.

Hirt -- Edward C. Hirt, a resident of Albuquerque since 1960 passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2002. He was born in Chicago in 1917. He is survived by his wife, Flavia of the home; son, Tod and wife, Julianne; grandchildren, Samuel and Caroline Hirt; of Alexandria, VA; nephew, Carl and wife, Linda; niece, Diane Hirt of the Chicago area. His parents and his brother, Don Hirt preceded him in death. Ed served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and in the Korean Conflict. He was employed by Sandia National Laboratories for 30 years, retiring in 1982. He volunteered in the Pilot Mail Booth for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta for 20 years and was an active volunteer for many years for the Chaparral Girl Scout Council. Ed was active in the Democratic Party, was a former member and Chairman of the Bernalillo County Board of Voter Registration and a Precinct Chair. He was a charter member of the Friendship Force of New Mexico. The Funeral Service for Mr. Hirt will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 6, 2002, at Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors Chapel, with interment following at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Howes -- Sen. Gloria Jeanne Howes, 72, of Gallup, NM died Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque. She was born August 12, 1930 in Decatur, IL. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Retired Senator Gloria Howes was appointed as New Mexico Woman of the Year in 1994 by Gov. Bruce King. She wore many hats throughout her lifetime and was a friend to everyone. Beginning as a teacher with the BIA school for Navajos in Keams Canyon, AZ in 1950 and going on to the Navajo reservation and public schools in Shiprock and Gallup. Howes entered county government in 1988. She served three terms as New Mexico Senator for Cibola and McKinley Counties and retired in 2000. She enlivened those long, late-night Senate Sessions with her wonderful sense of humor that only Gloria could do yet managed to negotiate tough issues with compassion and wisdom. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, December 6, 2002 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Rollie Mortuary, 401 East Nizhoni Blvd., Gallup, NM. Services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 1800 Red Rock Dr., Gallup, NM. Rev. Layloni Drake will be officiating. Ingram -- Hattie L. Ingram, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1966, died Wednesday, December 4, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Dowling and husband Jim of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Amy Dowling Rourke and husband, Jason of Albuquerque; grandsons, Andrew Dowling and Peter Dowling, both of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Hannah Rourke, Melissa Rourke, Zachary Rourke, and Vanessa Rourke, all of Albuquerque; brother, Robert Nelson, of Ellis, KS; brother-in-law, Harold Ingram and wife, Jeanie of Wichita, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ingram was born in Ellis, KS to Axel and Hannah Nelson. She married Herb Ingram July 7, 1940 on the family's homestead. He preceded her in death September 13, 2000, after 60 years of marriage. They managed theatres in Kansas for many years. In 1958, during the Oil Boom, the family moved to Farmington and then to Albuquerque in 1966. She had been a bookkeeper in Farmington and Albuquerque, having worked for Zales, AAA of New Mexico and Van Atta Labs. She was a great fan of all sports, especially baseball. Mrs. Ingram was a very loving and beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2002, at 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Pastor Bruce Wilder officiating. Jakymiw -- Steven Richard Jakymiw, Jr. 45, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 29 years, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2002. Steven was born April 19, 1957 the son of Steven and Alice Jakymiw, Sr. in New York City, New York. Steven came to New Mexico from New York. He had worked in construction before his death. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice in December of 2000. Steven is survived by his father, Steven, Sr. of Rio Rancho; two children, Stephanie Jakymiw of Albuquerque, and Michael Mitchell Jakymiw of Rio Rancho; one brother, Michael Jakymiw and wife, Denise of Rio Rancho; niece, Danielle; and nephew, Jason. Steven will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Private Services were held at Vista Verde Mortuary.

Kailey -- Ross Kailey, 78, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away at home on Wednesday, December 4, 2002. Born in Freeport, Illinois on August 1, 1924, he and his late wife, Ruth Helm Kailey, moved to New Mexico shortly after their wedding in 1948. Ross graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Business, and he and Ruth were blessed with five boys. Frogg was a jazz aficionado who traveled the country to attend jazz festivals and related events. His extensive tape and record collection of jazz masters was always a source of pride to him, and he was instrumental in bringing Louie Armstrong to New Mexico for a concert in the late 50s. He also loved to play golf, powering off the tees. He took great pride in the fact that he had successfully reached all greens on par 5's in 2 at all the municipal courses in Albuquerque! He enjoyed researching his family lineage and spent many hours scouring telephone books and libraries during his travels, looking for other Kaileys. Ross is survived by his #1 and Best Son, Jeff Helm Kailey, of the family home; Bixx Louis Kailey, his wife, Annette, and their sons, David, his wife, Gina, and Bernard, of Montana; Ross Jon Kailey, his wife, Kristin, and their son, Jake, of Santiago, Chile; Tomm Elmer Kailey, his wife, Barbara, of Albuquerque, and their daughters, Alison, a student at UNM, and Andy and Rachel Kailey Foraker, parents of Ross's first great-grandchild, Aubrey, of Virginia; and Timm Emerson Kailey, his wife, Bernadette, and their children, Rhiannon and Paul Ross, of Pecos, NM. He also leaves behind two special nephews, Eric and Max Kailey of Paris, France. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. in the UNM Alumni Chapel. Lince -- Major Robert L. Lince, USAF, Retired, died at his home in Albuquerque, November 22, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Carole Lince; daughters, Laurie L. Chancellor and Bonnie L. Byrd of San Diego, CA and Sandra L. Going of Greenwood, SC; and five grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at the Kirtland AFB Chapel on Friday, December 6, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. Interment, will full military honors of his cremated remains will be held at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, CA. Robert loved his friends and took great enjoyment in maintaining his stamp collection. Machin -- Edwin Dale Machin, a resident of Albuquerque for 52 years, went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on December 2, 2002. He died of complications due to his lung disease at the hospital. Ed was born on May 30, 1928 in Columbus, OH. He met his beloved wife, Rose Marie Machin of 53 years while he was in the service, stationed in St. Louis, MO. After going to school in Chicago, IL, the couple moved to Albuquerque. Ed was employed by Sandia National Laboratories for 36 years. He worked as a member of the technical staff, a job he loved to do. During his retirement, Ed was actively involved in the New Mexico Wildlife Federation. He served as president for one year in the Albuquerque Wildlife Federation and two years with the New Mexico Wildlife Federation. Ed had a passion to preserve and protect our New Mexico Wildlife. Ed was an avid hunter and fisherman. He looked forward to the yearly trips to hunt with his son, grandson, son-in-law, and friends. Ed is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Machin of Albuquerque; his daughter, Patricia Perovich and husband, Joey Perovich; grandson, Damon Deveaux; granddaughters, Alicia Deveaux and Elena Perovich of Taos. His son, Glenn Machin and wife, Terri Machin; grandson, Jude Machin and wife, Amber of Lubbock, TX; granddaughter, Michelle Machin; grandson, Christopher Machin of Albuquerque; his daughter, Nancy Caldwell and husband, Kevin Caldwell; granddaughter, Kylee Caldwell and grandson, Casey Caldwell of Albuquerque. Ed was a loving and compassionate husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed, but the lessons he taught his family will endure forever. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. on December 7, 2002 at French Mortuary - Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. Martin -- Donald J. Martin passed away on December 1, 2002, at the age of 79. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Eunice (Freddie) Martin; son, Steven Martin; daughter, Laurie McKeough and husband, Sean; daughter, Heidi Martin; son, Terry Sciarrotta and wife, Patty of California; four grandchildren, Matt Berg and wife, Anna; Maura McKeough; Benjamin Martin and Mitchell Martin; and one great-grandchild, Kierstin Berg. A Veteran of three wars, he entered the US Army in 1943 and was on active duty for 33 years. He retired on September 1, 1976 as Commander of the Albuquerque Field Office, 901st Military Intelligence Detachment, US Army Intelligence Agency, which provided dedicated intelligence support to the Defense Nuclear Agency. Throughout his military career he served 132 months oversees and served in significantly important intelligence assignments in Europe, Southeast Asia, and the United States. In his 33 years of military service, he was awarded numerous medals including the Legion of Merit, the nation's second highest award for exceptional meritorious service. Cremation has taken place and there will be no formal services. Friends are invited to a gathering at the family home in celebration and remembrance of his life, on Sunday, December 15, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Ruelas -- Edward Ruelas, age 32, of Albuquerque, passed away unexpectedly to be with our Lord on Thursday, November 28, 2002. He was born on October 24, 1970 to Guadalupe Ruelas and Alexandria. He is survived by his only child, Edward Ruelas Jr., whom he loved very much; mother, Alexandria; brothers and sister; and many relatives and friends. Saiz -- Peggy J. Garcia Saiz, 71, a resident of Albuquerque, born in Carnuel, died December 2, 2002. She is survived by one brother, Alfonso Garcia; and three sisters, Beatrice Anaya and Benny Garcia of Albuquerque, and Lucinda Walyd of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A Rosary for Mrs. Garcia will be recited on Friday, December 6, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary. Shaw -- Mark H. Shaw, 58, a resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, November 30, 2002. He was born to Brad O. Shaw and Barbara Rae Shaw in Albuquerque. Mark was raised in Albuquerque graduating from Highland High School in 1962. He attended the University of New Mexico earning his BA in 1967 and Juris Doctor from UNM School of Law in 1969. Mark practiced law in Albuquerque for twelve years before moving to California where he presided as CEO of the United Church of Religious Science for nine years. He returned to New Mexico in 1991 to resume his law practice. Mark was a member of numerous professional associations including the American Bar Association, the State Bar of New Mexico, the Albuquerque Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association, and the Society for Non-Profit Corporations. He was also listed in Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in California, and Who's Who in the West and was listed in the International Directory of Biographies. A beloved husband, exemplary father, and loyal friend, Mark will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Roslyn Shaw; children, LCDR Daniel Paul Shaw, XO, USS McCampbell DDG85, Kathleen Ann Blakely, Brian Andrew Shaw, Rebecca Rae Kenny, and Amanda Leith Shaw, all of Albuquerque. Mark was the proud grandfather of¯ ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother and father, his older brother, Richard, and his niece, Deborah Ann Shaw. Mark made his transition after a valiant seven-year battle with cancer. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 7, 2002, 1:00 p.m., at First Church of Religious Science, 3320 San Pedro NE. Flowers may be sent to the church. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in Mark's name to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 3150 Carlisle NE, Suite 35, Albuquerque, 87110-1678. Starks -- Ruth Jurgensen Starks, 80, died Friday, November 22, 2002 at Manor Care in Encinitas, CA. Ruth was born December 14, 1921 in Manhattan, KS and grew up in Albuquerque. After marrying, she lived in Oceanside and Carlsbad, CA for 52 years. She retired from Federal Civil Service at M.C.B. Camp Pendleton, CA. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the Republican National Committee and the U.N.M. Alumni Association. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Donald J. Jurgensen of Belen, NM in 1972 and Clifford R. Jurgensen of Albuquerque in 1994. She is survived by three daughters, Susan Whitten of College Station, TX, Patricia Steger of Escondido, CA and Elizabeth Meyer of Carlsbad, CA; three grandchildren, Delia, Tiffany and Kenton; one great-granddaughter, Dionne; and one sister, Doris Dunlap of Albuquerque. Private inurnment will take place Saturday, December 7, 2002 at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menual Blvd. NE in Albuquerque. Szalczinger -- Catherine"Cathey" Ellen Mead Szalczinger, was born July 23, 1954 in Albuquerque and passed away Sunday, December 1, 2002. Cathey was, and always will be, a brilliant ray of sunshine and spiritual light for all of her family. She was nicknamed"Petunia", a special and fragile flower, by her siblings. Cathey attended Manzano High School in Albuquerque and Wasatch Academy in Utah. At Wasatch, she was elected Homecoming Queen. From a very young age, Cathey loved to swim, write and she had a great deal of creative talent. Cathey was a very kind and loving person, and always full of fun. She juggled home, work and raising her son while living in Virginia and after she moved back to Albuquerque. Cathey and Joe met in Albuquerque and were married in New York in May 1995. They had fun with their speedboat and spending a lot of time at the lake. Her life was further filled with her many pets, the latest being her dearest,"Munchie". Her parents, Bruce Bundy Mead and Margaret Shirley Mead preceded her in death. She will be truly missed by"Mom", Elizabeth Toth, and"Dad", Louis Toth of New York. Cathey is survived by her loving husband, Joseph and her wonderful son, Sean Staats of Virginia. Surviving also are her siblings, Martin Mead of Colorado, Judith Ann Mead and her partner, Howard Staap, Lee Vandevender and her husband, Walt, and Mary Margaret Petty and her husband, Ralph, of Roswell. Cathey has three nephews, Michael Mead, Matthew Mead and Ben Petty; and two nieces, Wendi Whitmore and Jennifer Petty. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2002, at 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Pastor Clyde Stanfield officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m., at Santa Fe Memorial Gardens in Santa Fe. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Saturday, December 7, 2002, from 8:00 a.m. until time of service. Cathey will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Wright -- Essie Pearl Wright, 82, peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Dr. William F. Wright, Sr. of Albuquerque; her son, Dr. William F. Wright, Jr. and wife, Phyllis of Hobbs, NM; her daughter, Teresa Clack and husband, Robert of Florissant, MO; and two grandchildren, John and Jenna Clack. She was born on March 5, 1920 to Matthew and Martha Frost and was raised in St. Bernice, Indiana.¯Essie was the oldest of four children. She graduated from St. Bernice High School in 1938 and Terre Haute Business College in 1939. In the fall, Essie went to Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee, Illinois, where she met Bill, her husband-to-be. She earned two bachelor degrees, a B.A. in English and a B.A. in Business, while serving initially as the college presidents secretary and later as Business Manager and Treasurer for the college.¯ She also taught classes at Olivet. Essie earned a master's degree in Business Administration from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She taught business classes at Monon High School in Indiana from 1949 to 1952. In August of 1952, Essie and Bill moved to Albuquerque to start careers with the Albuquerque Public School system. Essie taught at Albuquerque High's Evening School and in the Business Department of the University of New Mexico. By 1960, Essie was committed to her role as a full-time mother and wife. After Bill Jr. and Teresa left for college, Essie devoted herself to the full-time service of others. She especially loved to care for the elderly who were confined to their homes. In 1972, Essie began volunteering at the Senior Meal Site at Harwood United Methodist Church.¯The site later moved to the Church of Christ located on North Fourth Street. This program was taken over by the North Valley Senior Citizens Center in 1980, where Essie continued to volunteer. In the fall of 2000, she was honored for a total of 28 years of service to the North Valley Community. For over 50 years, Essie has been a member of Heights First Church of the Nazarene. She was also active in the WCTU.¯Essie was an avid reader and writer. The Bible and devotionals daily guided her life. Having always put God first in her life, Essie's family takes great comfort in the knowledge that she is at home with the Lord she loved and served. Services will be held Saturday, December 7th, 11:00 a.m., at Heights First Church of the Nazarene, 8401 Paseo Del Norte NE, with Rev. William B. Nielson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Friday, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
