Obituary for Lewis

Vera Marguerite Lewis, born June 25, 1919 in Lone Wolf, OK, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2002, at Emerald Springs in Yuma, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Col. Terry S. Lewis; three sisters; and her parents, Beulah and Johnnie McConnell. She is survived by one son, Dr. Terry A. Lewis and his wife, Cheryl of Yuma, AZ; and one daughter, Martha A. Crane and her husband, Charles of Portales, NM; one grandson, Kennan Crane and his wife, Chandra of Atlanta, GA; and one granddaughter, Christy Crane of Atlanta, GA. Marguerite was a longtime resident of Albuquerque where she was an active member of First Baptist Church. She taught five-years-olds in Sunday School, Sunbeams, and Mission Friends for many years. Marguerite was also active in the Officers Wives Club at Kirtland AFB, what is now the Alpha Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, and Gourmet. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, bridge, 42, and trout fishing, in addition to her family and church activities. Services will be held Friday, December 13, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Thursday, December 12, 2002, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the New Mexico Baptist Camps, PO Box 485, Albuquerque, NM, 87103-0485.
