Abraham -- Mrs. Lawrence T. Abraham, devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2002. She died peacefully at home surrounded by family after being cared for by her devoted husband. The former Wadette Goze, a native New Mexican, born October 2, 1916 in Magdelena, NM to a prominent ranching family George and Adele Goze. She was preceeded in death by her parents and sister Margaret. Mrs. Abraham graduated from El Paso Business College and earned her Teaching Certificate from UNM in 1938. She taught school in Magdalena in the late 1930's. On a trip to the 1939 New York World's Fair she met her future husband, Lawrence T. Abraham, married October 6, 1940 and began a love affair lasting 63 years. The Abrahams lived in Magdalena, Espanola and resided in Los Alamos from 1942 to 1946. While in Los Alamos she was instrumental in starting the USO and served as its president. In 1946, the Abrahams with their daughters moved to Santa Fe and resided there until 1976. While in Santa Fe she attended First Presbyterian Church, served as President of the Dig N Hope Club Garden Club, served on the State Board of Garden Clubs, President of the Stitch N Bitch Club, Chairperson of the March of Dimes, Girl Scout Leader, served as President of the Santa Fe City Council, Secretary/Treasurer of Lawrence T. Abraham Construction, Mother Advisor of the Rainbow Girls and was named Santa Fe Woman of the Year in 1970. Mr. & Mrs. Abraham moved to Albuquerque in 1976. While in Albuquerque she continued her civic activities and focused on her love of writing poetry and painting. Wadette is a chartered member of the Tom L. Popejoy Society at UNM. She is survived by her devoted husband and companion, Lawrence; loving daughter Sandra Dhieux and her husband, Ernie, of Broomfield Co.; their children Joyel Dhieux of Boulder Co., and Matthew Dhieux of Broomfield Co.; Loving daughter Dr. Karen Abraham of Albuquerque, long time administrator of the University of New Mexico; and loving son, Larry, his wife, Beverly, and their son, Geoffrey, all of Albuquerque. Wadette's greatest success and focus of her life was her family. She was devoted to her husband Lawrence and doted on her children and grandchildren. The incredible loss of her presence is balanced only by the lasting example and legacy of her amazing energy, love of life and the commitment she brought to her life's role of wife, mother, friend and humanitarian. Her strength and love of life left a lasting impact on everyone she met. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Sunday, November 24th at 1 pm at the UNM Alumni Chapel, Rev. Ned Ross officiating. Adcock -- Maralyn Adcock, 76, loved and admired by all whose lives she touched, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, November 17, 2002. Maralyn is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jacob Adcock Sr.; sons, Jacob Adcock Jr., and wife, Patti, Michael Adcock, Mark Adcock and wife, Margaret Eichman; six loved and adored grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Berlier -- Oscar Berlier of Encino and Los Chavez went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at the age of 78, following a courageous battle with cancer. Oscar was born and raised near Wagon Mound. He had resided in Los Chavez since 1953, and was employed by Sandia National Labs for 30 years, while farming and ranching on the side. Since 1986 the majority of his time was spent at Encino on the ranch doing what he most enjoyed. Oscar's greatest love was his family, but he also loved ranching, hunting and fishing. He was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Los Chavez and a current member of the First Baptist Church of Vaughn. Oscar was a man of integrity, wisdom and strength. He worked hard to provide for those he loved. He had a beautiful smile and a great sense of humor and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Wilma Howell Berlier; son, Jim Berlier and wife, Vicki of Estancia; daughter, Eileen Goode and husband, Ken of Albuquerque; two granddaughters, Jennifer Berlier of Las Cruces, Sheila Aragon and husband, Dominic of Albuquerque; great-granddaughter Marisa Aragon; sister, Clara Lucas and husband, Sylvester of Albuquerque; brothers, Ralph Berlier and wife, Betty of T or C, Loyd Berlier and wife, Joyce of Deming, many loving nieces, nephews and friends, also survive him. His parents, Harry & Delia Berlier, sisters Alice Berlier, Nora Beckner, Ethel Dennis and Grace Peery and his beloved and only grandson John Berlier, preceded him in death. Visitation and services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Los Chavez (5 miles South of Los Lunas on Hwy 314, across from the Old Mill store). The Visitation will be on Friday afternoon, November 22, 2002 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 23, 2002 at 11:00 a.m., with pastors Norm Riggin, Boyd Morerod and Albert Hagan officiating. Burial will follow at Terrace Grove Cemetery in Belen. Pallbearers will be Howard Beckner, Lynn Lucas, Mark Tiley, Bill Howell, Andy Otis and Victor Powell. Botone -- Edna Nanette (Nan) Botone proceeded onward into God's Glory early Friday morning at her home in Albuquerque with her loved ones in attendance after a long illness. Born April 12, 1950 to Dodie Christensen and George Otero Sr. Nan was a proud and enthusiastic employee of Southwest Airlines in Albuquerque. The loving wife of Barnie J. Botone and adoring mother/grandmother of daughter, Mylee and DJ Pittel and grandson, Justyce & granddaughter, Jaelee of Kansas City, MO; son, Saul Botone and Linda and granddaughters, Shantel and Shyanne of Albuquerque; and son, Billy Bob Botone of the home. Nan is missed and survived by the above named as well as brothers, George Otero, Jr. and wife, Susan of Santa Fe, Timmy Otero of Albuquerque, and Danny Otero and wife, Sonya of Clovis and maternal matriarch, Opal Wagner as well as several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews and other relatives, extended family and friends. She is preceded by maternal grandfather, William Wagner, paternal grandparents, Edna Hood Otero and Meliton Otero Sr. and Dad, Chris Christensen. Clark -- Jean Clark, 75, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2002. She was born in Staffordshire County, England May 13, 1927. Jean met her future husband, Jesse T. Clark in England during WWII. He always called her his"war souvenir". She and her beloved Jesse were married in Las Vegas, New Mexico, March 9, 1947 and moved to Albuquerque shortly thereafter where they raised their three children. In addition to Jesse, Jean is survived by her sons, James T."Tom" Clark and wife, Dolly, and Robert"Charlie" Clark and wife, Renee and by her daughter, Linda Anderson and husband, John, all of Albuquerque. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Deanne and husband, Chris Downey, Shawn Anderson, Ryan, Reanne and Ray Clark; her great-granddaughter, Mary Anne Downey; her brother, John Harrison; her sister, Claire and husband, Maurice Wain; her brother-in-law, John Oxley, and her sister-in-law, Helen McCluer. Dehart -- Daniel Saunderson DeHart was born in Keosauqua, Iowa May 10, 1925 and died November 12, 2002. Dan is survived by his wife of 53 years, Eloise (Sally) DeHart; their daughter, Ann DeHart and her husband, Robert Milne; three granddaughters, Michelle, Lauren and Marie Milne; and a brother, Dell DeHart and his wife, Cheryl. Dubois -- Warren F. DuBois, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2002 at the age of 81. Warren was born April 20, 1921 the son of Otto and Edith Hentz DuBois in Racine, Wisconsin. A veteran of WW II, he served with the US Army in Panama and then in Europe, where he met his future wife, Madeleine. They were married in Paris, France, in 1945. They lived in Racine, Wisconsin until moving to New Mexico in 1995. Warren worked as a millwright for American Motors, now Daimler Chrysler, until his retirement in 1985. Warren was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Coyne. He is surivved by his wife, Madeleine of Rio Rancho; his daughter, Viviane DuBois of Rio Rancho; and nephews, Dr. Terrance Coyne of St. Louis, MO, and Marshall Coyne of Tucson, AZ. Forsberg -- Howard Klau Forsberg , 84, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM, died Friday, November 22, 2002 at Presbyterian Kaseman Hospice in Albuquerque, NM. Howard was born in Milwaukee, WI, where he began his 65-year career as a commercial illustrator and painter of western art. He worked in Chicago and New York during the 1940's before moving to Pasadena, Ca, in 1952. Howard headed a commercial art agency in Los Angeles and did illustrations for Mattel Toys, Hanna-Barbara and Disney Studios. He is the author and illustrator of one book, An Approach to Figure Painting for the Beginner. Howard returned east in 1966 as a teacher for the Famous Artists Schools in Westport, CT. He moved to New Mexico in 1977 to begin 20 years painting the scenes of the old west. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Forsberg Tinglof in 1983, and is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean; daughters, Karen Benke and husband, Richard of Rio Rancho, Julie Forsberg of Rio Rancho; grandsons, Richard Kuntz, wife Amy, and daughter, Sanova of Denver, CO., Greg Kuntz and wife, Kimberly of Genoa, NV; granddaughter, Kathy Kuntz of Santa Ynez, CA., Howard will be remembered¯ by his family for his courage, humor and quick wit. Gabaldon -- 01/01/1966 - 11/21/2002Annette Sanchez Gabaldon, 36, a resident of Los Chavez, passed away at the University Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona on Thursday, November 21, 2002 from complications of a bone marrow transplant she had received in May 2001. At the time of her early death, Annette was cancer-free. She was a 1992 graduate of UNM Dental Hygiene Program and later completed her Bachelors of Science Degree. Annette was employed as a hygienist in Albuquerque, Bosque Farms, and Belen. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome, NM. She is survived by her loving husband of 12 years, David Gabaldon; two sons, Ryan Gonzales and Aaron Gabaldon, all of the family home in Los Chavez; her parents, Rosalie and Proceso Sanchez, of Tome, NM; two sisters, Sharon Apodaca and husband, Frankie of San Antonio, TX and Jennifer Sanchez of Tome; three brothers, Gilbert Sanchez and wife, Juanita; Eddie Sanchez, both of Tome; and Paul Sanchez and wife, Yvette of Belen;¯ father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe S. Gabaldon and Emilia of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, John B. Gabaldon and wife, Joey of San Diego, CA; sisters-in-law, Mary Cecilia Sedillo of Dallas, TX; Theresa B. Johnson -- Arthur (Art) G. Johnson, age 83, passed away November 21, 2002 in Albuquerque. Art moved to Albuquerque from Prescott, AZ in 1999 to live with his only surviving son and his family. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Marcia Johnson; and two granddaughters, Tamara Johnson and Kim Guerra; and grandson, Sean Johnson (Garcia); four sisters; and one brother. Art was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; two sons, David and Daniel; a brother; and a sister. He was born in Malacs Lake, MN, December 6, 1918 and received a Bachelors Degree in Agriculture from the University of Minnesota. He worked in the construction field for many years, became a general contractor, and established his own construction company. In addition to his church activities, his interests and an important part of his son's lives included coaching a little league baseball team in the 1950s and 1960s. Art was an active member of the Gideons and the First Conservative Baptist Church in Prescott, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideon's International. Kinney -- Dr. Robert J. Kinney, 94, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, died Thursdayf. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marjorie; and is survived by three nephews and one niece, David, Joe, Edward and Kathryn; and numerous grandnephews and grandnieces, all of whom will miss his wit and wisdom. Born March 23, 1909, in Pittsburgh, PA, Dr. Kinney was a graduate of Princeton University (1931) and Harvard Medical School (1935). His lifelong career in internal medicine was highlighted by work at the University of New Mexico, Bellevue Hospital (NYC), Boston Psychopathic Hospital, New York University College of Medicine, as an instructor in preventive medicine at Cornell University, as a resident in medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, and as Chief of the Department of Medicine at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. Dr. Kinney also served in the Reserve Officers' Training Corps and was a consultant to the U.S. Veterans' Administration in Wisconsin. Dr. and Mrs. Kinney were married on August 8, 1942 in Ithaca, NY, and remained happy together until her death in 1991. Longtime residents of the village of Los Ranchos, the Kinneys enjoyed horseback riding, gardening and traveling. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. McLaughlin -- Louise Edith (Holley) McLaughlin In Loving Memory January 9, 1930 - November 18, 2002Louise was born in Springerville AZ to R.C. Holley Sr. and Bessie Katherine (Baldwin) Holley and lived many happy years in Pie Town, NM. Beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, she is survived by three daughters, Bessie Lou Stearns, Gwendolyn Sue Turner, Thelma Elaine Mantellini; one granddaughter; five grandsons; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, R.C. Mexal -- Mary Frances Mexal (age 76), 'Buck' to her family and friends, died Thursday, November 21, 2002. She was born in Oplin, TX, the third of three daughters to Dewey Crenshaw and Maud Oglesby Crenshaw. She is survived by her sister, Maudell Berglund and her husband, Marlon of Albuquerque; daughter, Catherine Mexal of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Regina Thomas and her husband, William and their daughter, Ellie of Ravenden, AR; son, Mark and his wife, Sandra and their children, Patrick and Kate of Scottsdale, AZ; son, John and his wife, Barbara and their sons, Stephen of Denver, CO and Nicolas of Las Cruces, NM; niece and nephews; and her good friend, Beulah Boles of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Oma; and husband, Gustaf Mexal. With enormous bravery, she moved to Albuquerque in 1962 with her four young children to build a new life. Her sister, Maudell with her husband Marlon offered their home and wonderful moral and financial support to help them get settled in their new home. She resided in Albuquerque for over 40 years where she was a license practical nurse at Presbyterian Hospital for nearly 20 years. She loved gardening and bingo and was an excellent cook. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Lorraine Painter. Thomas loved to play darts and belonged to the Albuquerque Dart Association. Romero -- David Romero, 54, a resident of Belen, peacefully passed away on Friday, November 22, 2002. He was a member of the Santa Rita Followers and Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. David enjoyed the outdoors and had many fishing and hunting excursions however his strongest passion was his loving grandchildren and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Prospero and Lenor Romero. David is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Shiela of the family home; his three children, Ida A. Morrison and her husband, James"Danny", Toby A. Romero, and Tammy Romero, all of Belen; his five grandchildren, Brandon and Haley Lopez and Charlene, Crystal and Amanda Morrison, all of Belen; four brothers, Gene Romero and his wife, Geraldine of Socorro, NM, Cleto Romero, Gabriel Romero and his wife, Dolly, Frankie Romero and his wife, Dolores, all of Belen; three sisters, Lou Gonzales and her husband, Marcos of Socorro, NM, Bennie Sanchez and her husband, Alfredo of Belen, and Sylvia Mascarena and her husband, Leroy, of Albuquerque; his mother-in-law, Marie Chavez; two brother-in-laws and four sister-in-laws. He is also survived by his many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. A viewing will be held on Monday, November 24 at 5:30 p.m. followed by a rosary at 6:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 25 at 10:00 a.m. All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Ross -- Melvadyne Ross, 81, died peacefully in her sleep, Friday, November 15, 2002. Beloved daughter, sister, and mother,"Mel" as she was usually called, was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Born in Toledo, OH, December 23, 1920, she spent her childhood and young adult years in the Sheepshead Bay Neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. After her marriage in February of 1948, she left New York with her husband and his parents, moving to New Mexico in 1949. The next years of her life were spent in New Mexico until her death. She is survived by her son, Phillip M. Ross of Albuquerque; and brother, Ray Bagen of St. Petersburg, FL. The family would like to thank the staff of ManorCare Camino Vista for the wonderful care provided the last years of Melvadyne's life. Schall -- Melvin B. Schall, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at his home in Albuquerque, after a courageous battle with colon cancer. He is survived by his loving daughters, Patricia Consterdine, Debbie Griego, Joyce Lopez and husband, Jose, Marlene Stokes and husband, Keith, all of New Mexico; 10 grandchildren, Kim Fujimori of San Francisco, CA, Mike and Daniel Fujimori of Los Angeles, CA, Jason and Jamey Griego, Danielle and Brandy Lopez, and Josh, Justin, and Chelsea Hannamann, all of New Mexico; 4 great-grandchildren, Aaron, Nathan, and Jordan Fujimori, all of Los Angeles, CA, and Morgan Acosta of New Mexico; sister, Jean Davis of Pennsylvania; numerous nieces and nephews.¯ Mr. Schall was born on June 3, 1920. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a staff sergeant for the 458th, 230th Airborne in 1945, later retiring from Levi Strauss in 1982. He will be deeply missed. Serna -- Martin A. Serna, 86, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, November 22, 2002. He is survived by his son, Patrick Serna and wife, Eva of Lancaster, CA; daughters, Patricia Case and husband, John of Livermore, CA and Sandra Madsen and husband, Lyle of San Diego, CA; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sisters, Virginia Lopez, Ann Romero and Aurelia Gonzales and husband, Ralph, all of Albuquerque. Martin was preceded in death by his wife, Dortha Serna on December 15, 1993; brothers, Paul Serna of Pereris, CA and Julian A. Serna and wife, Vangie of Albuquerque; and brother-in-law, Frank T. Walton -- Native New Mexican Gene C. Walton, 53, son of Jack and Jane Walton, died November 23, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Nancy Walton; daughter, Amy and her husband, Ted; daughters, Kelly and Elizabeth; son, Benjamin; mother, Jane Walton; sister, Donna and her husband, George; nephew, Michael and his wife, Jalayne; niece, Annie; and, aunt, Betty Walton. After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of California and Law degree at Georgetown University, Gene returned to Albuquerque. He began his noted and dedicated career at the law offices of Rodey, Dickason, Sloan, Akin, and Robb. Gene became Head of Presbyterian Health Care Foundation in 1991, and took over as Senior Vice President and General Council in 1992, the position in which he finished his career. Gene cherished his many friends and colleagues, those enriching relationships and shared experiences which make life vital. Gene and his family wish to thank them all as well as Diane Fisher, Ellin and Jon Hewes, Priss and Bruce Hall, Jim Hinton, and Jackson Ellison. A paragraph cannot capture a life. Her husband, Walter George Wieclawek preceded her in death. She was a loving mother and grandmother, a wonderful cook and we miss her feisty spirit.
