TAFOYA -- Joseph "Joe" Montoya Tafoya, 86, resident of Albuquerque, passed away in his home Monday, August 17, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rita Lopez Tafoya; son, Joseph R. Tafoya and wife, Penny Lindgren; grandsons, Dominic Matthew, and Joseph Par William; sisters, Viola Gurule of Ojo Caliente, NM, and Natalia "Nattie" Baca and husband, Phil; brother-in-law, Johnny Serrano, all of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Elma Lopez of Socorro; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was born April 11, 1923 in Polvadera, NM. He was the sixth of thirteen children born to Juan P. and Isabelita M. Tafoya. He and his loving wife, Rita, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in June of 2009. Joe was of the greatest generation who served honorably in the 8th Air Force in England in WW II. His unit was sent to Normandy and Utah Beach, they fought through France and into Weisbaden, Germany. Before his discharge, he was a security guard for the Nurnberg trials. He returned from WW II and received his degree in Industrial Arts from Highland University. After teaching for four years, he worked in the Albuquerque area for 33 years, retiring from General Electric in 1985. Before and after retirement, Joe and Rita traveled extensively including a trip to their ancestral homes in Tafalla and Majorica, Spain. Rosary will be recited Wednesday, August 19, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, August 19, 2009, 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima. LOPEZ -- Cornelia C. Lopez, 94, of Albuquerque died Friday, August 7, 2009 at a local hospital. She was born to the late Apolinario Aurora Silva Cordova on January 25, 1915 at Magdalena, New Mexico. She was a dedicated homemaker who loved her family. Cornelia was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin F. Lopez; a son, Bennie Lopez; sisters, Ninfa, Marian and Julia; brothers, Augustine, Raymond, Jose Maria and Melechias. Survivors include her sons, Johnny and Benjamin Lopez, Jr.; daughter, Agnes Sanchez and husband, Eloy; brother Felix Cordova and wife, Nora; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. WIESENHUNT -- Tarrie Lynn. REMEMBERING THE ONE WE LOVE Was born on April 28, 1959. Tarrie slipped away from us in the early morning hours on Saturday, June 27, 2009 without warning in TorC, NM. She has left her companion and life partner, Julie; parents, Carol and Johnny; her sister, Debbie; precious nephews, Kris and Geoff; her extended family and friends; her one and only bulldog, Ruby. Tarrie served her country proudly in the Navy, she went on to become a General Surgeon. In her retirement, she enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting for arrowheads and as well as mining for gold. Tarrie was loving, kind, thoughtful, generous, fun and so much more. To all of us who knew and loved her , she will be forever remembered as our "T". We love you Tarrie and we will never forget you. May God Bless You and Keep You now that he has you.

TEEL -- John Teel, 72, a long time resident of Albuquerque and Carlsbad, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 1, 2009 in his home in Albuquerque. Johnny was born December 7, 1936 to James R. and Ollie M. Teel in Vaughn, NM. They later moved to Carlsbad, where Johnny and his sister, Deanna, grew up. Johnny was star center for the Carlsbad Cavemen basketball team. After high school, John attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque earning a major in history and a minor in physical education. While there, he excelled at basketball and was the top scorer and rebounder for the UNM Lobos. After college, John was drafted into the Army and played ball for the Army team. Returning to Carlsbad in 1973, John went to work for the Potash Company of America, and was a loyal employee for 26 years. John is survived by his son, Michael A. "Andy"; daughter, Catherine A. Teel of Auburn, CA; sisters, Deanna Overstreet and husband, Tom, and Claudette Maddox; grandchildren, Michael and Emily Clemence; and several nieces and nephews. Johnny will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle voice, unique sense of humor, and his dashing good looks. The sparkle in his eyes will never be forgotten. Family and friends may visit French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, Thursday, August 6, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Private services will be held Friday, August 7, 2009, with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. CARRILLO -- -Adela M. Carrillo, 79, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on August 2, 2009. Mrs. Carrillo is survived by her children, Ursula Chavez, Louie Carrillo, Isabel Garcia, Frances Montoya, and Lucille Kline and husband, Charles; her stepson, Edward Sandoval; her sister, Georgia Trujillo; her brothers, Leo Vigil, Orlando Vigil and wife, Gloria, Armador Vigil, and Joe Vigil and wife, Bernie; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; two great-great grand children; her sisters-in-law, Andrea Montoya and Anita Salazar; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Carrillo was preceded in death by her parents, Gorgonio and Adela Vigil; her husband Manuel Carrillo; her sons, Manuel and Phillip Carrillo; her sisters, Albina Martinez, Mena Vigil, and Evan McCoy; her brothers, Jerry and Johnny Vigil; sons in law Gilbert Garcia and David Chavez. Mrs. Carrillo was a member of the Catholic Church, the Legion on Mary and the Padre Pio Prayer Group. Visitation will be at St. Anne Catholic Church, on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to recited at 7:00 p.m. Final visitation will be Wednesday at the Church from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Father Nick Nicholas, presider. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Louie Lopez, Isaac Montoya, David Chavez Jr., Manny Garcia, Andres Montoya and Daniel Chavez. GARZA -- Martha (Vigil) Garza, age 74, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on July 28, 2009. She was surrounded by her family. Martha was born May 6, 1935, to Jessie and Tom Vigil. She was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque and enjoyed her family immensely, especially her grandchildren. She rarely missed a sporting event involving her family and her beloved Lobos. She loved traveling and crocheting and made the best tortillas, tamales and natillas in town. She was the secretary of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Queen of Heaven Conference, and a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Society. Martha is survived by her husband Erasmo Garza; her brother Orlando Vigil; uncle Edward Padilla; brothers and sisters-in-law Bruce and Sylvia Banks, Rudolfo and Edna Garza, Victor and Lydia Gonzales and Marcella Garza; her children Daniel Garza, Henry Garza (Geri), Christine Garza Bronson (Nicholas), Larry Garza (Michelle) and James Garza (Michelle); 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nephews and nieces and grandnephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law Angeline and William Green; brother-in-law Fernando Garza; aunt Feliciana Padilla; uncle Johnny Duran; uncle Ross; and aunt Lucy Duran. ANAGNOSTOU -- Jean Markowitz Anagnostou went home to be with our Lord on Friday, July 31, 2009. Jean was born on Wednesday, June 13, 1956 in White Plains, NY. She moved to Albuquerque in 1979 where she met her best friend and now her husband for the past six years. Jean is survived by her husband, Spiro Anagnostou of the family home; sister, Betty Ann Dowless of Albuquerque; brother, John Markowitz and wife, Margo of New York; nieces and nephews, Kathleen, Kimberly, Katie, James and Johnny; father and mother-in-law, John and Kiki Anagnostou; sisters-in-law, Tasia and Kathy of Greece and Kalliopi of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Betty Markowitz. Jean will be deeply missed and her memory will be greatly cherished.
