Obituary for GARZA

Martha (Vigil) Garza, age 74, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on July 28, 2009. She was surrounded by her family. Martha was born May 6, 1935, to Jessie and Tom Vigil. She was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque and enjoyed her family immensely, especially her grandchildren. She rarely missed a sporting event involving her family and her beloved Lobos. She loved traveling and crocheting and made the best tortillas, tamales and natillas in town. She was the secretary of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Queen of Heaven Conference, and a member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Society. Martha is survived by her husband Erasmo Garza; her brother Orlando Vigil; uncle Edward Padilla; brothers and sisters-in-law Bruce and Sylvia Banks, Rudolfo and Edna Garza, Victor and Lydia Gonzales and Marcella Garza; her children Daniel Garza, Henry Garza (Geri), Christine Garza Bronson (Nicholas), Larry Garza (Michelle) and James Garza (Michelle); 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nephews and nieces and grandnephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law Angeline and William Green; brother-in-law Fernando Garza; aunt Feliciana Padilla; uncle Johnny Duran; uncle Ross; and aunt Lucy Duran. Honorary Pallbearers Francisco Duran, Christopher Garza, Mark Garza, Dylan Garza, Johoshua (JAG) Garza and David Garza. Rosary will be recited Monday, August 3, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix NE, with the Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated on Tuesday, at 10:00 a.m., also at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. A reception will follow (generously provided by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and the Our Lady of Guadalupe Society). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Martha's name to Vista Care Hospice, 5639 Jefferson, NE, Albuq., NM 87109.
