ARMIJO -- Amado G. Armijo, 89, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on August 4, 2009 peacefully at home. Amado is survived by his grandchildren that he raised, Gina and Aaron Candelaria; children Patsy, Yolanda, Benjie, Stevie, and Felipe Candelaria; special great-granddaughter Miranda "Panda" Candelaria; other grandchildren Stephen, Tyrone, and Thalia Candelaria; also brothers and sisters Eddie Madrid, Manuel Armijo, Cristela Martinez and Sadie Armijo. Preceded in death by his wife, Jennie Armijo and parents, Lazarro Armijo and Terisita Madrid. Rosary will be recited by Silviano Candelaria on Sunday, August 9, 2009, 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 309 Stover Ave. SW. Final Mass will be held Monday morning at 9:30 a.m., Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

BAERST -- Margaret Christine Baerst (Peggy Baerst), age 93, returned Home on August 7, 2009, after a short illness. She was surrounded and embraced by her family as she passed at her home at the Village at Alameda, Albuquerque, NM. Peggy was born on December 12, 1915 in New York, New York to Stephen F. Coughlan and Mary K. McEvan, both Irish immigrants. She enjoyed school and learning and was a music aficionado. Peggy's love of music found expression in the violin, piano and voice. In her early years, she was a founding member of The Brigadiers, a woman's choir associated with St. Kilian's parish in Farmingdale, N.Y. In the 1950's and 1960's, she sang with the women's choral group of the same parish under the direction of Arpad Darazs.Peggy worked for a number of years as an executive assistant at Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation, currently part of Northrop Grumman.On April 23, 1938 Peggy married Frank E. Baerst and embarked on her most rewarding life experience as a devoted wife and mother of six children whom she raised with a wonderful balance of love, inspiration and grounding in responsibility and generosity. They lived in Farmingdale, N.Y. until moving to New Mexico in 1964. Frank and Peggy had been married 68 years when Frank passed away in 2006. Peggy is survived by five of her six children: Janet, married to Anthony Liotta; Carl, married to Janice Sue (Suzie) Tilghman; Margaret Ann, married to Bruce McClure; Eileen Marie, married to Robert Sudela; and Susan Baerst. Peggy was predeceased by her son John Stephen Baerst, married to Allison Faircloth Brown. She had ten dearly loved grandchildren: Mary Kay, Carol, John, and Thomas Liotta; Karen Baerst Treon and Scott Baerst; Seth and Gideon McClure; and Virginia and Benedict Baerst. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren: Elise, Audrey and Sophie Treon; Tobias and Maisie McClure; and Gustavo and Magdalena McClure. Peggy lived a life of love and respect for all people. Everyone she touched experienced her kindness, generosity, and unconditional acceptance. She will be profoundly missed. Peggy's incredible life will be celebrated at a funeral Mass at the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 9502 4th St. NW, on Friday, August 14, 2009 at 9:00 AM. There will be a rosary at the same location Thursday, August 13 at 7:00 PM. Internment will take place at a later date in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Albuquerque, NM. BRIXNER -- Berlyn Brixner, 98 years old, beloved Father, Grandfather & Great-Grandfather, died peacefully in Albuquerque, NM on 1 August 2009. He is survived by his daughter Annette Stewart of Dallas, TX, daughter Kathleen Brixner & her partner Rita Kerrigan of Albuquerque, NM, granddaughter Patricia Copeland of Addison, TX, granddaughter Tanya Copeland & her husband, Tsherling Tobgay, who reside in Honolulu, HI with their two children, his great-granddaughters Zenden Lhamo & Rinzin Zangmo. He donated his body to UNM Medical School and, at his request, wished no funeral nor memorial arrangements be made. Hailing from El Paso, TX, he attended the University of Texas, worked & studied photography under Willis W. White, MD, who operated a pathology laboratory in El Paso. He moved to Albuquerque during the Dust Bowl & Great Depression era to work for the US Conservation Department as a regional photographer, documenting the ravages of drought on New Mexico, pictures & notes on file at the US National Archives. He was an enthusiastic amateur photographer, much of his photography resides at the Los Alamos Historical Society, Museum of Santa Fe & the National Hispanic Cultural Center. When WWII began, he joined the secret Los Alamos National Laboratory's Manhattan Project in 1942, designing & engineering extremely high speed cameras under Professor Julian Mack. Berlyn Brixner took photos of the first atomic bomb test at Trinity, NM in 1945. After the war, he stayed on at LANL, heading the Optical Engineering Group until his retirement. He contributed a chapter to the book Behind Tall Fences about the war years, authored & coauthored some 45 papers describing major developments in camera engineering, optical instrumentation and fabrication techniques. His scientific work & photography are on file at LANL Historic Archives. His optical lens design was used to construct a high resolution telescope mounted on the Mariner 1969 & 1970 spacecrafts to Mars. He received the E.I. du Pont gold medal from the Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers and the Robert Gordon Memorial Award from the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers. He was an amateur Egyptologist, a world traveler, visiting Egypt in 1956 and '58 and giving camera & optical engineering papers at various conferences in numerous countries over the years. At age 93, five years after his beloved wife Audrey Chew Brixner died, he moved to Albuquerque.

BUFFINGTON -- Frances Buffington passed away at home Wednesday, August 5, 1009 at the age of 87 after a long illness. She was in the presence of her husband of 65 years, Marvin; and their eldest daughter, Bronwen (Bonnie) Bohanon. She is survived as well by Bonnie's husband, Tom; and her three other daughters who live in Ohio, Michele Elliott and her husband David, Jeanne Hallisey and her husband Bob, and Elizabeth Chadwell and her husband Keith. Frances and Marvin have ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Frances and Marvin moved to Cleveland, Ohio from Chicago early in their marriage and remained there until their move to Albuquerque in 2001. Frances was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who took great pleasure in her family. She was also an avid reader and a very bright lady. Frances took much comfort in her faith during her illness and looked forward to a future resurrection in God's kingdom. Her family is making private arrangements for a memorial gathering to remember her life. BUSS -- Julius L.(Rick) Buss was born on November 23, 1917, in the Bronx, NY. He passed away on July 12, 2009. Julius worked as a purser on a cruise ship prior to serving in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He subsequently worked as an accountant for the Navajo Nation in Window Rock, AZ. He and his family moved to Albuquerque in 1949. Julius was employed by Sandia National Labs, Duke City Lumber and N.C. Ribble Company. He also had his own accounting practice. He served as an elder of the Albuquerque Bible Students, was a director of the Pastoral Bible Institute and the Bible Students Retirement Center. He traveled with his beloved wife while ministering to Bible Students in Europe, India, Africa, Australia, South America and throughout the U.S. He was preceded in death by Roberta, his wife of 59 years. He is survived by his sister, Helen Minke, of Sarasota, FL; daughter, Sandra Thomassen and husband Tim; granddaughter, Tamara Wesol and husband Daniel; "daughter," Patricia Tucker; "granddaughter," Ashley Tucker, all of Albuquerque. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2009, 11:00 a.m., at the Daniels Family Funeral Services, 1100 Coal Avenue SE (842-8800). A reception will follow at the family home.

BUTT -- Paul L. Butt, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, passed away on July 27, 2009. He was born August 17, 1930, to Elbert and Alpha Butt in Memphis, Tennessee. While attending Albuquerque High School, he met his future wife, Dolores S. Butt, whom he married in 1951. They celebrated 53 years of marriage just before Dolores' death in 2004. Paul graduated from the UNM School of Law in 1955, with the degree of Juris Doctor. He practiced law for more than 40 years, and served as a founding member of the Law Firm of Butt, Thornton & Baehr, PC. He was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, and the Federal and State Courts of New Mexico. He was a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, holding the rank of Diplomate. Paul also belonged to the Kappa Alpha Fraternity, the Albuquerque Kiwanis Club, and the New Mexico National Guard Association. He served as a Major in the Judge Advocate General Corps, United States Army Reserve, retiring in 1972. Paul is survived by his four sons, and their spouses, Paul S. Butt, Martin R. Butt and Willie, Neal T. Butt and Elizabeth, Dr. Allen E. Butt and Sarah; nine beloved grandchildren, Eubie, Mana, Nathan, Alex, Morgan, Stephanie, James, Julian, and August; and three great-grandchildren, Mercedes, Andrea, and Azriel. Cremation has taken place and a family memorial service will be held at a later date, where R.L. Stevenson's poem, Requiem, will be read in his name. CALDWELL -- Mary Jane Caldwell passed away in Northern Virginia on July 30, 2009 after a short illness; she was 88. Mary Jane spent most of her lifetime in Belen, New Mexico where the family owned and managed the local Chevrolet-Oldsmobile dealership, H. Caldwell Motor Company. Upon retirement, she and her husband Earl spent many years relaxing and playing golf at their home in Palm Desert, California. She moved from California to Virginia in 2006 to be with her son when her health began to deteriorate. She was active in Daughter's of the Nile, a lifetime member of the Belen chapter of Eastern Star, and a volunteer at both the hospital in Belen and Eisenhower Memorial Hospital in Palm Desert. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey; and her husband, Earl. Survivors include her son Steve Caldwell and his husband Bob; a granddaughter Jillian Caldwell; and great-granddaughter Jasmine Swell, all of Virginia. Mary Jane will be buried next to her husband Earl in Palm Springs, California. The family requests that any remembrances on her behalf be made to the Alzheimer's Association of New Mexico.

DONALDSON -- Gerald E. Donaldson, Sr., 72, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 due to respiratory failure. Jerry was born to Nora Smith Donaldson and Charles Donaldson in St. Louis, MO on April 23, 1937 and lived in Albuquerque NM since 1963 He married Mary Ann Wasko in February 14, 1957. He entered the United States Army in May 1954 and retired from military service in 1974. He attained the rank of Major having served in Korea and two tours in Vietnam, Jerry was awarded many medals and awards including Two Bronze Stars with valor earned during the Tet Offensive. After his military career, Jerry was employed by Albuquerque Federal S&L/AMDEC before starting his own business, Donaldson & Associates Real Estate Appraisal Company where he retired in 2003. His greatest joy was his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Donaldson in 2004; and children, Lowell Ray Donaldson in 1998 and Mark A. Donaldson in 2006. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Gerald E. Jr. and Debra Donaldson of Honolulu, HI; daughter and son-in-law, Sandi and Andy Mumma of Los Lunas, NM; daughter-in-law, Maggie Donaldson, Albuquerque; grandchildren, Christin and Christopher Lindsey of Buda, TX, Jill Rodriguez of Kyle, TX, Nicole Mumma of Greensboro, NC, Michael Donaldson and Matthew Donaldson both of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Christopher Cary and Andrew Rodriguez; niece, Bobbie Donaldson of St. Louis, MO; sister, Jacqueline of St. Louis, MO; and many dear friends. DORFF -- Mark L. Dorff, beloved husband, father, grandfather, pastor, and friend passed away on August 5, 2009. Mark was born in Tulsa on February 13, 1934, to Rev. Earl and Anabel Dorff and was a graduate of Classen High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma City University, and Garrett-Evangelical School of Theology. In 1983, he received an Honorary Doctor of Divinity from McMurry University. He began serving United Methodist congregations while a high school senior. Upon completion of his seminary degree, he served two appointments in Oklahoma before transferring to the New Mexico Conference. During his thirty year ministry in New Mexico, he served seven congregations, was the Conference Director of Mission and Administration, and a District Superintendent. Mark retired in 1997, but "flunked retirement" several times by serving as the interim senior pastor in two churches and several other positions including the interim Executive Director of the Sacramento Methodist Assembly in Sacramento, NM, and a number of appointments in Oklahoma and Arkansas. Mark was loved and respected by family and friends and was a man of character and integrity at every level. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 35 years, Elizabeth "Babs" Garrahan; and his sister, Marilyn Buzbee. He is survived by his wife, Ann, of Tulsa; brother, Bishop James Dorff and wife, Barbara, of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Tracy West and husband, Larry, of Albuquerque, NM; son, Gregory Dorff and wife, Jill, of Lincoln, NE; son, Kevin Dorff and wife, Deborah, of Yonkers, NY; step-daughter, DeDe Sageser and husband, Troy, of Tulsa, OK; step-son, Kelly Ford and wife, Vickie, of Tulsa, OK; step-daughter, Shelley Rice of Vancouver, WA; sister-in-law, Nita Daly and husband, John, of Albuquerque, NM; sister-in-law, Mej Blake, and husband, Joseph, of Glen Mills, PA; brother-in-law, John Paul Buzbee and wife, Alice, of Anadarko, OK; brother-in-law, Rev. ELLIOTT -- Glo Elliott, 78, a resident of Albuquerque for 15 years, died Wednesday, August 5, 2009. She is survived by her children Nancy A. Standler of Cedar City, UT, Stephen H. Elliott and wife, Damian of Bradenton, FL, Russell D. Elliott and wife, Kathy of Albuquerque; three granddaughters, Megan L. Elliott, Bridget L. Elliott, and Christiana G. Standler; sister, Patricia Montague of TX; brothers, Alex Dority and wife, Wendy of Santa Fe, NM and Tom Dority and wife, Sue of Estes Park, CO; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends. Glo was preceded in death by her husband, Guy in 2007. She was born in Athens, OH to Fan Dority and Alec Dority and as a child and young adult lived in many locations along the eastern seaboard and Gulf States. Glo attended Roanoke College in Virginia where she received her Bachelors Degree in Physics. After working as a physicist for several years, she married Guy and moved to Los Alamos, NM where they raised their family. While in Los Alamos, Glo taught school and worked in local government. In the 1990's Glo and Guy moved to Albuquerque where she enjoyed volunteering and helping children learn to read. Glo and Guy were founding members of the Unitarian Universalist Westside Congregation where they were active members and Glo supported charities through her creative efforts. She loved spending time with her three granddaughters and was an avid and enthusiastic reader. Glo was a loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. ESTRADA -- Melvin E. Estrada, 59, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2009. Melvin was born June 11, 1950 the son of Henry and Rose Baca Estrada in Tucumcari, New Mexico. He had worked in the grocery business before his death. He was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Estrada. Melvin is survived by his parents, Henry and Rose Estrada; two sons, Henry Estrada and Mel Estrada; stepson, Earl Nage, and step-daughter, Holly Nage; four grandchildren; one brother, Jimmy Estrada; and one sister, Betty Montoya and husband Jerry; four nephews, and two nieces. GLOBER -- Elreena "Ga" Glober, 94, born in Santa Fe and resident of Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2009. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Garcia and husband, Luther C.; granddaughters, Elisa Chavez and husband, Matthew, and Elreena Garcia; nieces, Rena Mae Cappel, Carol Ann Polaco and husband, Larry, Sandra Jean Miner and husband, Robert, and Charlotte Higgins and husband, Larry; nephew, William Arrighi and wife, Sandra; and several generations of nieces and nephews. HARRIS -- Velma Harris, 86, passed away on August 4, 2009. She was born August 1, 1923, in Grady County, OK, to William and Goldie Bennett. Velma is survived by her three children, Paula Avery and her husband Rod, Katherine Brodie and her husband Rick, and Sharon Harris; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her brother, Otis Bennett. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Jay Dee. Velma was an active member of the Peace Makers Quilting group, and a devoted member of the Hoffmantown Church. HERRERA -- Oscar Victor Herrera, 59, passed away on July 28, 2009. Oscar was born September 25, 1949 in Marfa, TX to Joe Herrera, Sr. and Lilia Dominguez Herrera. He served on a tour of Germany in the US Army. He attended college, graduating with a degree in criminal justice. He was employed as a probation officer for many years. He then worked as a store manager at Smith's in Albuquerque. He enjoyed listening to "the oldies" and dancing. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by two daughters, Sonia Padilla and Natashia Herrera; two sons, Sonny David Herrera and Victor Herrera; two sisters, Delfa Razo and Elodia Aguilar; one brother, Joe D. HUBBARD -- Frances M. Hubbard passed away August 4, 2009. Frances was born in Virden, IL, in 1924 to Frank and Agnes Atteberry. She was one of 11 children and the mother of five children. She was preceded in death by her daughter Alice Doneen, son Donald Joseph and nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by one sister, Patricia Leach of Rochester, IL; her daughters Fran White, Peggy Bono and husband Bob, and her son James Newman and wife Sarah; ten grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She worked for Blue-Cross/Blue-Shield of NM for 11 years before retiring in 1994. She was proud of her Irish background and loved Irish music. She was a gifted writer. HUSLER -- Richard T. Husler, also known affectionately by friends as Fruehauf, passed away suddenly, at home, on August 2, 2009. He was born in Albuquerque, NM on May 20, 1946, but lived in Madrid, NM until 1954. He grew up in Albuquerque and graduated from Manzano High School in 1965. Richard will be greatly missed by his family, many friends, neighbors and co-workers. He was a life-long member of IATSE Local 423. He loved, and rescued many animals throughout his life. He enjoyed tinkering with everything mechanical, especially video and movie equipment and welded structures. He possessed a keen interest in the histories of Madrid and Cerillos, the Christmas lights, coal mines, trains and especially steam locomotives. He collected train and movie memorabilia throughout his life and was well-known for welcoming all first-time visitors into his home and ringing in each New Year with a blast from his train whistle. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Janey and Joe Husler, and brother Earl Husler. He is survived by his loving wife, Laura (Stormy); stepson Josh Albillar of Tempe, Arizona; stepdaughter Shari Eppard of Albuquerque; and grandchildren Faith Lea Tafoya and Brendon James Eppard; his brother John Husler and wife Bonnie; nieces Carrie Fiske and Cyndi Pitts; and nephew Christopher Husler of Albuquerque, along with many other family members including mother-in-law, Therese Cotitta of Tempe, Arizona, sisters and brothers-in-law and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. MARTIN -- Rose Severino Martin passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 after suffering a massive stroke last Friday which eventually took her life. Rose was 85 years of age and an Albuquerque resident for 40 years. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Severino of Albuquerque, her son Carl Severino of Peoria, Illinois, daughter-in-law Vonni Severino; and grandchildren Taylor, Paul, Carl and Jeanine. Rose Martin will be cremated at Riverside Funeral Home with a private family burial service to occur at a later date, where she will be laid to rest next to her deceased son, Chuck Severino.

MURDOCK -- Ben Joseph "Joe" Murdock, age 89, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2009 at home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, with his loving wife, Doris, and his beloved dog, Amy. Joe was born December 14, 1919, in Atlanta, GA, to Robertus W. Murdock and Ruth Murphy Murdock, with an older sister, Sarah Murdock Henry and a younger sister, Beverly Murdock Mead. Joe came from a family proudly involved with American railroads, was educated as an electrical engineer, and had a distinguished career both with the FBI and the private aerospace engineering industry. Joe served during World War II in the U.S. Army and was an avid amateur radio operator. His other hobbies included woodworking, fixing up bicycles, and frequenting donut shops and yard sales - he loved and lived life to its fullest. Joe was married on July 2, 1946 with Sara Frances DuBose Murdock, who predeceased him on July 9, 1997, and with whom he was married 51 years and raised a family of four children. Joe married Doris Walker on October 18, 2005, who was his loving partner during his later life. Joe is survived by his wife, Doris Murdock; his children, Jim Murdock (and wife Luci), Caryn Murdock, Sandra Murdock (and husband David Levin), and Joe Murdock (and partner Jane Tyroler); his step-children, Timothy Hawkins (and wife Hilda), Paul Hawkins (and wife Charlene), Susan Finale (and husband Robert), and April Sumi (and husband Jeff); his grandchildren, Michael Shane Thompson (and wife Jennifer), Shay Tyroler-Resivo, Jessica Hawkins, Esther Bowman (and husband Paul), Anna, Nicholas, and Peter Levin, Alison Murdock; his step-grandchildren Karen, Kathy, Kyra, and Michaela Hawkins, Kayla and Nathan Finale; his great grandchildren, Hunter and Dakota Thompson; his grandniece, Abby Levin; his godchildren, James, Daisy, and Lydia Chow; and his dog, Amy Murdock. Joe lived a long and wonderful life. He was loved and will be missed by us all. ONSUREZ -- Natividad "Buster" Onsurez, 87, a resident of Albuquerque for seven years, died Tuesday, August 4, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Luz; son, Orlando Onsurez and wife, Mary Ann of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Elizabeth Ratliff and husband, Jim, of Albuquerque; four grandchildren, Trish Eichwald and husband, Alejandro, Erica Ratliff, Jenna Svela and husband, Eric, and Adam Jacobs and wife, Julie; four great-grandchildren, Ryan Svela, Payton, Alexis, and Devin Eichwald; brothers, Lawrence Onsurez of El Monte, CA and Joe Onsurez of, CA; and numerous other relatives and friends. Buster was preceded in death by his four sisters. Mr. Onsurez was born on December 25, 1921 in Carlsbad, NM to Guadalupe and Concepcion Pena Onsurez. He was raised in the Carlsbad area until joining the United States Army in June of 1942. After his honorable discharge in April of 1946, Buster worked at Amax Chemical Corp. in a potash mine for 31 years, retiring in 1984. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Onsurez was also a member of the AARP. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. PARKER -- Dorothy Williams Parker, 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2009, in Albuquerque with the love and support of her family by her side. Dorothy was born on September 15, 1932, in Utica, New York, to the late Thorman and Gladys Bach Williams. She attended Utica schools and graduated from Utica Free Academy in 1950. She worked as a certified property manager for Buck Property Management, Whitesboro, NY; The Clarkson Company, Jacksonville, Fl; CNY Management Corp, Liverpool, NY; Condren Realty Management, Syracuse, NY. Dorothy sang in church choirs wherever she resided regardless of the denomination. Dorothy was especially delighted to be Grace Churchs Boys Choir Mother, believing the sound of their voices was as close to heaven as one could get. Dorothy served on the Board of Directors for The Greater Utica Opera Guild, Inc., contributing as Production Coordinator, Programs, and Costumes Coordinator. She is predeceased by her son, David Parker, daughter-in-law, Janet Parker, brother-in-law, Richard Buck, and her former husband, Donald Parker. ROGERS -- SYBIL "LOUISE" ROGERS, 87, a resident of Bloomfield since 1998 passed away Friday, August 7, 2009 at the home of her daughter. Louise was born June 30, 1922 in Taiban, New Mexico born to William Perry and Ruthie (Haas) Longbotham. Louise married George Ray Rogers on September 16, 1936 in Estancia, NM and this marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple. She was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a visiting teacher. Louise, always a hard worker, owned and operated Market Basket Grocery, with her late husband George, in Aztec for over 20 years, as well as the Black Barn, a used furniture store in Albuquerque. Later she worked as a sales clerk for K Drugstore for nearly 16 years also in Albuquerque. Louise enjoyed doing and making plastic canvas. She loved sewing, reading and collecting recipes. She was an excellent cook and especially enjoyed watching the Food channel. She was our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and most importantly a good friend to all she knew. Louise will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Thanks Mother for all you did for us, we love you very much! Schick and wife Sammie of Albuquerque, and Donna Jean MacQuigg and husband James MacQuigg of Edgewood; seven grandchildren, Jon, Tom and Lisa Goleman, Susan Hillmeyer, Douglas Schick, Elizabeth MacQuigg and Donald MacQuigg; and seven great-grandchildren. He attended Albuquerque High, NMMI and was a graduate of Clovis High. He was the only child of Maybelle and Herbert Schick. Maybelle was a Fred Harvey hostess. Herbert was superintendent of mines in Madrid, NM during WWI. Donald was well loved and loved well, and we will miss him. SLACK -- Vivian B. Taylor Slack, 85, passed away on August 3, 2009 in Albuquerque, N.M. She was born on May 25, 1924 in Bogue, N.C., and is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Karen Slack Hanosh and Timothy J. Hanosh of Albuquerque, NM, and Sarah Slack Buckingham and Hugh W. Buckingham, Jr. of Edmond, OK. She is also survived by her sister Belle Kellam Schoonman; Belle's sons N. Hobart Kellam and Stephen Kellam, all of Greensboro, NC; and the children of her deceased siblings, Joe Taylor, Curt Taylor, and Reginald Taylor. Vivian graduated from high school in Swansboro, NC, married Porter E. Slack, Jr. in 1952 in Washington, DC, and lived for many years in Houston, TX, and Godfrey, IL, until Porter's death in March, 2000. She moved to the Atria Vista del Rio retirement community in Albuquerque, NM, in 2002 and enjoyed years of friendship there with residents and staff. Vivian's kind heart, sweet smile, and generous nature drew her close to many. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends. Vivian chose cremation and, honoring her wishes, there will be no formal services. THOMPSON -- Ralph E. Thompson,(80 years old) passed away on August 7, 2009. He is survived by his wife Rosemary K. Thompson; Son Jeffrey C. Thompson and his wife Kimberly and their son Ian of Albuquerque; son Dr. Joel D. Thompson of Tucson, Arizona; and daughter Jill Thompson of Amarillo, Texas. Born October 8, 1928, in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Ralph spent his early years in Oklahoma and Dumas, Texas. Ralph entered the army in 1950 during the Korean War, serving in Korea in 1951-52 as a tank commander. He graduated from West Texas State College in 1955, working in Amarillo, Texas, after graduation. He and Rosemary started their own business in Albuquerque in 1978, retiring in 1993 and turning the company over to their son, Jeff. Preceded in death by his parents and two older brothers, Ralph lived a full and active life. For many of his retirement years he was active in the local tennis community. His hobbies were tennis, swimming, and golf. He loved his family, was grateful for his friends and appreciated and enjoyed a contented life. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his only grandson. He held strong Christian faith. His final desire for his family and friends was to convey his love for all and a fond farewell to those he knew. In accordance with his wish, his body has been donated to the UNM Medical Sciences Department. Memorial contributions may be made to Presbyterian Hospice who took such wonderful, loving care of Ralph. Any flowers may be sent to the home. No funeral service is planned.

VELASQUEZ -- Susie M. Velasquez, 91, passed Thursday, August 6, 2009. She was born on January 28, 1918 in Salida, CO. Susie was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund Velasquez. She is survived by her children, Martha Powers, Priscilla Montoya and husband, Carlos; Olga Joyce, Albert Velasquez and wife, Maria; Lorraine Romero; Gloria Mirabal and husband, Tom, and Marie Kenny and husband, Richard; grandchildren, Susan Russo, Karen Powers, Michael Montoya, Angela Bricmont, Anita Fink, Carlos Montoya, Rob Joyce, Kathy Guzman, Michelle Sweet, Nicole LaFevre, James Romero, Mario Romero, Tony Martinez, Nanette Danielsson, Gary Sanchez, Pamela White, Thane Kenny, Tara Ravishankar, and Forrest Kenny; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Victor Suazo of Albuquerque, and Ed Suazo of Antonito, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. WESSENDORF -- Otto, 79, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2009. Otto was born and raised in upstate New York, retired in New Mexico and was a resident of Albuquerque for 16 years. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce; his twin sons Karl and wife Nannette, Kurt and wife Cheryl; granddaughter Nicole; and granddog Rosie. Otto served his country in the Navy for four years and worked as a lineman for the Niagara Mohawk Power Co. He was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church, their choir and a member of the Concordia Singing Society for many years. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and was an active choir member for 16 years. He enjoyed spirited discussions with his friends and family especially at American Legion Post 49. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at Faith Lutheran Church 10000 Spain NE. WIEDE -- Wanda Wiede, age 77, a resident of Peralta, NM, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2009. She attended Calvary Chapel in Albuquerque, NM. Wanda worked as a locksmith at UNM, and also as a medical records clerk at Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque and Embudo Hospital in Rinconada, NM. Wanda was an avid bird watcher. She especially enjoyed feeding and watching the hummingbirds. Wanda enjoyed spending time with her family and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who was loved by all and will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Roy Davis in 2002; and daughter, Patricia June Alldredge in 2004. Wanda is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, George W. Wiede; daughter, Debbie A. Wiede; grandchildren, Stacie, David, Kurt and Troy Alldredge, Priscilla (Brittany) Padilla, Gabriel and Kellee Wiede; son-in-law, Steve Alldredge and wife, Junette. WIESENHUNT -- Tarrie Lynn. REMEMBERING THE ONE WE LOVE Was born on April 28, 1959. Tarrie slipped away from us in the early morning hours on Saturday, June 27, 2009 without warning in TorC, NM. She has left her companion and life partner, Julie; parents, Carol and Johnny; her sister, Debbie; precious nephews, Kris and Geoff; her extended family and friends; her one and only bulldog, Ruby. Tarrie served her country proudly in the Navy, she went on to become a General Surgeon. In her retirement, she enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting for arrowheads and as well as mining for gold. Tarrie was loving, kind, thoughtful, generous, fun and so much more. To all of us who knew and loved her , she will be forever remembered as our "T". We love you Tarrie and we will never forget you.
