GLASS -- L. Edward Glass, age 62, of Albuquerque, NM, formerly of Johnstown, PA, died August 2, 2009, at home. He was preceded in death by his parents Attorney Robert S. and Evelyn (Russell) Glass. Born January 6, 1947, in Johnstown, PA, he is survived by his loving wife, Lynn A. (Burns) Glass; daughter, Suzely Margarita; brothers, Robert S. Glass, Jr., and Walter Scott Glass; and numerous family members and dear friends. Ed was a graduate of Mount Saint Mary's College and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. His formal education included studies abroad in Rome and Mexico City. Upon his admission to the Pennsylvania State Bar, Ed joined his father in the practice of law, becoming the third generation of Glass family lawyers. Quickly, he rose to prominence in the areas of criminal defense and civil litigation, often choosing cases where the stakes were high and the pay was low. A man of principle, Ed was unwavering in the discharge of his duty of loyalty to his client and candor to the court. In trial, Ed was a quick thinker who was blessed with a special talent that allowed him to connect with the judge or jury, through the metered magic of his words delivered in a deep bass tone sounding in trust and honesty. Ed was licensed to practice law in the Federal Courts and in the States of Pennsylvania and New Mexico, where he spent the last 14 years of his professional life. The same character traits that anchored Ed in his profession served him equally well in his role as loving father to Suzely and devoted husband to Lynn. Ed became a father later in life and his seven short years with both Suzely and Lynn were undoubtedly his most rewarding. He rarely said "no" to his two princesses. In quieter moments, he enjoyed the arts, reading and cinema. Ed was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast; especially his beloved Steelers. He embraced the Southwest culture and enjoyed the scenic beauty of the New Mexican desert. On Friday, August 7, 2009, there will be a viewing from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. EST at the Frank Duca Funeral Home located at 1622 Menoher Blvd in Johnstown, PA 15905 with Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. EST at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Johnstown PA, with interment immediately to follow at Grandview Cemetery.
