CAMPOS -- Carmen S. Campos, age 82, originally from Leon, Gto, Mexico, and a long time resident of Guadalupe County, died Thursday, October 9, 2008, after a brave battle with cancer. Carmen was born in Leon, Guanajuato, on July 2, 1926. Before moving to the United States, she was self-employed as a pharmacist in a small neighborhood store. She moved to Albuquerque, NM, in the summer of 1948 and met her soon to be husband during the Fiestas of Santa Fe in September 1948. Carmen and Jose Campos were married in January 1949. Carmen is preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Josefina Sanchez; and her husband Jose Campos. Survivors include three daughters, Rose Maciel of Chicago, IL, Susan Campos-Saiz of Albuquerque and Rita Romero of Santa Rosa; four sons, Paul Campos and Ricardo Campos, both of Santa Fe, Jose Campos and Santiago Campos, both of Santa Rosa; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Catalina Maciel, Lourdes Nava, Tila Rojas and Hele Almaguer; and two brothers, Antonio Sanchez and Jose Sanchez. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October 12, 2008 from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 13, 2008 at 11:00 from the church. Burial will follow in the Campos family plot at Saint Joseph's Cemetery. CASERIO -- Hilde J. Caserio, 81, passed away Sunday October 5, 2008 after developing severe respiratory distress. She joins her beloved husband, retired Lt. Colonel Charles Caserio, and her son Chuck in heavenly peace. She is survived by two cousins in Germany and many local friends. She will be interred at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Hilde was a Holocaust Survivor, Gold Star Mother, and member of the Retired Officers Wives Club. She was also very active in the local Catholic, Jewish, and German community organizations. Many loved and knew her as their "other Mother". She was an inspiration to all that knew her. Hilde was strong willed with a loving stubbornness. She had an undying faith in God, country and the military. She will be greatly missed by the many lives she touched. On Monday October 13, 2008 there will be a Viewing from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. and a Rosary from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Daniels Funeral Home located at 7601 Wyoming NE. CLARK -- Janice N. Clark of Bosque Farms, born October 4, 1937 passed away October 9, 2008. She is survived by her husband Wayne H. Clark Sr.; daughters Valerie Balsamo and husband Bob, Michelle Roberts; son Wayne H. FULLER -- Andrew L. (Drew) --After a seven year courageous battle with cancer, Drew passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on October 9, 2008. Drew was born on March 18, 1949 in Hobbs, NM. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Judy and daughter Sarah, who were the sunshines of his life; mother Annie Fuller of McKinney, TX; Brother and sister-in-law Steve and Karen Fuller of Albuquerque; sister and brother-in-law Ginger and Tom McLamore of McKinney, TX; brother-in-law Robert Jones of Los Alamos, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Spike and Donna Jones of Los Alamos; nieces Angela, Jeni and Jesi; nephews Eric, Kyle, Kory and Cale. Drew was preceded in death by his dad, Andra and brothers John and Mark. Drew was raised in Jal, NM and McClean, TX and graduated from Jal High School. He moved to Albuquerque to attend college and play football at UNM. He had a passion to learn and received Bachelor and Master Degrees in Teaching Industrial Subjects from UNM; Master Degree in Industrial Safety from Texas A&M and Master degree in Occupational Safety Management from Central Missouri State University. Drew was proud to play the position of strong safety for the UNM football team and he was a faithful fan - GO LOBOS! Drew was a Professional Safety Engineer and Certified Safety Professional. He was a Senior Safety Engineer at the Department of Energy where he had been employed for the past 31 years. Prior to working at DOE he was a Descriptive Geometry Instructor and Design Graphics Graduate Instructor at Texas A&M. Drew was a Porsche enthusiast and loved maintaining and driving Porsche 911 relics, of which a pumped-up 1970 coupe (Blue Max) was his favorite and gave him a thrill for speed. GIRON -- Robert D. Giron Jr., 44, passed away in Albuquerque after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Sr., who passed away in April 2008. Robert is survived by his son, Jonathan; mother, Cecilia; his sisters, Audrey Leyba and husband, Phillip, Brenda Martinez and husband, Andrew; several nephews; one niece; one grandniece; several aunts and uncles; and other family and friends who loved him and will miss him very much. JENNINGS -- Donean Frances Waldo Jennings born in Wenatchee, WA on September 21, 1928, Donean went to be with her Lord on October 1, 2008. Her friends remember her as an organizer of neighborhood musicals in the 50s and 60s and a faithful member of the church choir where she organized many special dinners and children's presentations. She is survived by two sisters Audri Cotton and Patti Centeno; a son Pete Jennings and his wife Shawn; and two grandchildren Miranda Jennings and Nathaniel Jennings. A Memorial Service is planned for Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 5:00 p.m., at the Carlisle Plaza Methodist Church, 3023 Montclaire NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. No reception is planned. KELLEY -- Esther Kelley, 88, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Tuesday, October 2, 2008. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, George Kelley; brothers, Garfield Gutierrez of Moriarty and Hubert Gutierrez and wife, Patricia of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Beatrice Gutierrez of Prague, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Olivia Rodriguez; parents, Luis and Ercelia Gutierrez; sister-in-law, Rita Gutierrez and brother, Virgil Gutierrez. Esther was born May 12, 1920 in Raton, NM. After graduating from high school, she worked in Raton for several years and eventually moved to Albuquerque where she continued her work in the secretarial field. She met her husband, George, while he was in the Navy and stationed in Albuquerque. His career took them to many bases around the country and she was an active participant in the Navy Wives' Club. After George retired from the Navy they opened Kelley's Knit Shop in southern California and subsequently moved the business to Albuquerque. Esther was a gifted seamstress and she utilized this talent to create beautiful knit garments. She also gave knitting lessons to many of their customers. Esther enjoyed traveling and she and George spent their leisure time seeing the world on cruise ships. MORGAN -- Harvey E. Morgan, 64, died Monday, September 29, 2008, in Albuquerque, NM, after a long illness. Harvey was born in Albuquerque on Febuary 11, 1944. He lived for more than 30 years in El Paso, TX before returning to Albuquerque. He was retired from Ford Motor Credit Corporation in El Paso. Harvey is survived by his mother, Georgina (Gina) Morgan; his brother, Raymond Morgan and wife, Lynette of Ava, MO; brother, Donald Morgan and wife, Anna of Albuquerque; sister, Frances Morgan of Albuquerque; nephew, David Morgan of Raton, NM; niece, Elizabeth Crawford and husband, Chris of Presque Isle, ME. NOLAND -- Martin D. Noland IV, 85 year old Albuquerque, NM resident died peacefully at his home on Thursday, October 9, 2008. OLIVAS -- BROTHER LUKE OLIVAS, FSC Brother Bonaventure Luke, born in Santa Fe on August 19, 1911, the son of Ciriaco J. Olivas and the former Maria Martinez, both deceased, died, after an extended illness, on Thursday, October 9, 2008, in the afternoon in St. Vincent's Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Frances and Maria Stella; and by his brothers, Fred, Sonny, Jacob A., and Waldo. He is survived by his sisters, Isabella and Adelina of Albuquerque and Rosina in California. He is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews. Jacob J. Olivas entered the junior seminary of the Christian Brothers in Las Vegas, NM in 1925. He received the garb of the Christian Brothers in 1927 and chose the name Brother Bonaventure Luke. He pronounced his life-time vows in August of 1936. His teaching assignments took him to New Iberia, Lake Charles, Covington, Lafayette, New Orleans, and Franklin, all in Louisiana. He also taught in Christian Brothers schools in Galveston and El Paso, in Texas and in Denver, CO. He taught at, and was associated with St. Michael's High School, here in Santa Fe, since 1978. He was an excellent teacher, proficient in Religion, Science, and Math, as well as Senior English. He spoke excellent French and was a Latin scholar, as well. Brother Luke spent a year in Parmenie, France, assisting in the administration of an international retreat center. During the summers of the late 1970's, he joined a number of his Brothers in Alaska where they built and repaired Catholic Churches and meeting halls in several small towns for the bishop of Alaska. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, October 14, 2008, 7 p.m. at Berardinelli Family Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, October 15, 2008, 10 a.m. at St. Francis Cathedral with interment to follow at Rosario Cemetery. OLSON -- Larry Delfred Olson, born June 20, 1958, passed away October 8, 2008. Larry was born in Albuquerque, NM, received his BBA from UNM, then his MBA from College of Santa Fe. He worked at Sandia National Laboratories for 19 years. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Cindy Olson; three sisters, Sharon Espinosa, Gwen Pullen, and Gail Drane; daughter, DeDe Long and her husband Scotty; and son Bob Scholl and fiance Anna Sierra. Missing their grandpa and their favorite uncle will be nine grandchildren - Maurice, Kaytlyn, Jackie, Madison, Kayla, Joey, Cameron, Megan, and Jared, as well as his eight nephews and nieces. Larry loved life. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, his pets, his Dallas Cowboys, and traveling with Cindy. His recent adventure was parachuting out of a plane - which was one of many thrills he experienced. He also was always there to help people, giving generously of his time and expertise. PATERNITI -- Sam Paterniti 85, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2008 after a lengthly illness. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Cecelia in 2004. He is survived by five children; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the 8th army air corps in England. He graduated from Bowling Green State University, and worked as an accountant, retiring from Amrep in 1980 as comptroller. In the 1980's and 1990's he was a construction development consultant, developing several hotel and commercial projects throughout the state. He was the son of Italian immigrants, and believed in hard work, honesty, and dedication to his family. A Rosary will be at 7 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Rio Rancho on Monday, October 13, 2008. A Mass of Christian Burial will at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 . STEWART -- Dr. M. Buren Stewart, 92, former pastor of St. John's United Methodist Church in Albuquerque, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2008. Dr. Stewart, son of S. M. and Katie Stewart, pioneer settlers in territorial New Mexico, was born near Grady, NM on Friday, December 17, 1915. He graduated from Clovis High School and attended Eastern New Mexico University the first two years of its existence, and received his B. A. Degree from Highlands University and completed one half of his masters from the University of New Mexico. On Sunday, August 21, 1938, he married Gladys Ellen Crump of Clovis, NM. Dr. Stewart taught three years at Springer High School and then went to work for "The National Youth Administration." He was principal of Santa Rosa, New Mexico Elementary School when he entered the service in World War II. He served in the 42nd Army (Rainbow) Division. He was in the unit which liberated Dachau Concentration Camp. At the end of World War II, Dr. Stewart began his theological training at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, which he completed at Northwestern University (Garrett Theological) Chicago in 1948. The Stewarts only child, Joseph Martin, was born in Rockford, IL, in 1947. Dr. Stewart served churches which ranged from fewer that 100 members to churches with a membership of over 2,300. He served two six-year terms as District Superintendent in the Carlsbad and El Paso Districts. Other appointments served were Ranchvale, Ruidoso, Eunice, Las Vegas, Odessa, Texas (Highland), Grace Alamogordo and St. Johns' United Methodist Church, Albuquerque. At St. John's, Dr. Stewart, as Senior Pastor for nine years, completed a building program costing almost one million dollars, and retired in 1983. He was a delegate to five Jurisdictional Conferences, Three General Conferences and one World Methodist Conference. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Ellen Crump; his parents; and only siblings, Ruby Rucker and Winnie Briggs. Dr. Stewart is survived by his son, Joseph M. Stewart of Albuquerque; nephews, Gene Rucker and wife, Patty of Hobbs, NM, Terry Stovall and wife, Pam, Wayne Reid and wife, Donna of Clovis, NM; nieces, Lennie and husband, Dr. David Townsend of Alamogordo, Melva and husband, Everette Jaycox of Alto, NM, Carlene S. Briggs of Cloudcroft, NM, Nelva and husband, Wesley Williams, of Hobbs, NM, Sharon and husband, Dr. Merle Benson of Albuquerque, Marla and husband, Mike Wersonick of Edgewood, NM and Jane Rucker of Texas. In addition, Dr. Stewart is survived by several great-nephews and nieces all of whom he was proud. SYERS -- Ronald Jack Syers, 62, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2008 in Socorro, NM. He was born August 13, 1946 in Munising, MI to Verne E. and Shirley (Mills) Syers. Ronald served in the US Navy from 1964 to 1967 and was currently employed by Northrup Grumman. He owned and operated the AAA Storage in San Antonio, NM. Ronald was the kind of person that was always willing to help anyone that was in need of help. He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Flint Syers. He is survived by two sons; a daughter, two grandchildren; many cousins who loved him dearly; and many friends and co workers. TOKUDA -- Seiyu "Dusty" Tokuda passed away unexpectedly on October 7, 2008 during a large gathering surrounded by relatives here and from Hawaii and Oregon. He was born in Ewa, HI, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and worked as a Field Service Representative for General Farebox (GFI) in the Chicago area until his retirement. He had been a resident of Albuquerque, NM, for the past 17 years, having retired a second time from his part-time job as a driver for Budget Car Rentals a year ago. His passion was horses and he did some volunteer work for a riding program with developmentally disabled individuals when he first moved to New Mexico, and attended almost every type of horse show and horse racing at the fairgrounds. Dusty was preceded in death by his parents, Nta and Ushigwa Tokuda, his brother, Seisuke "Red" Tokuda, and his sisters, Masako Kochi and Helen Candilasa. He is survived by his son, Timothy and his wife, Amie Tokuda, of Chandler, AZ; his former wife and very good friend, Nancy Tokuda of Yuma, AZ and her son Alan Lermer of Glenview, IL; his brothers, Bob and Sei Tokuda of Albuquerque, Seiko "Sam" Tokuda of San Pedro, CA, and Harry "Pecos" (Betty) Tokuda of Honolulu, HI, along with many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews, many of whom were with him at the time of his death. Dusty also had several "coffee friends" at the McDonalds in Wal-Mart at San Mateo and Zuni. The family would like to express our gratitude to all the staff at New Heart, particularly Dr. McGuire, and the doctors and staff connected with Lovelace Health Program for their care and compassion. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place with no formal service, aside from a private gathering of his family.
