CLINE -- Joyce L. Cline, loving mother and friend, passed away quietly in her sleep April 9, 2008. She was born on May 14, 1935, in Ferndale, Michigan, sixth of seven children. She is survived by her two sons, Tom Cline, Bill Cline and wife, Sharon; sister, Maxine; and brothers, Wesley and Douglas. She had two loves in life, her church and all the kids she took care of over the years. Memorial to be held on Sunday, April 13, 2008, at 4:00 p.m. at the Community of Christ Church. COOK -- Pleas M. Cook, "Pop", passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, after a brief illness at the age of 84. "Pop" is survived by his loving wife, Lilian; his best friend and twin brother, Pearl Cook and wife, Jo; three sons, Martian and wife, Rusty, Richard and wife, Cindy, and Don and wife, Liz; grandsons, Chris, Ken, and Donnie; granddaughters, Shirley, Chevonne, Therese, Heidi, and Jaimee; and great-grandchildren, Jaricah, Kieran, Brendon, Breanne, Brylen, Tamyra, and Chastin. Mr. Cook is preceded in death by his loving grandson, Chad Cook. Pop touched many, many lives with his gentleness, kindness and generosity. He will be extremely missed by all who knew and loved him. CORWIN -- Ellera Judson "Cork" Corwin, Our honored and much beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, a resident of Albuquerque since 1956, died on April 8, 2008. He is survived by his spouse, Beatrice Janet Stevenson Corwin; his children, Kathleen Annette Corwin, Linda Louise Corwin, Steven Kim Corwin and wife, Joanne; grandchildren, Derek Luthy and wife, Jenny; and their children, Natalie and Parker, Cory Corwin, BoMee Corwin, Micah Corwin, Mariah Corwin, Asia Corwin; his sister, Betty "Penny" Eastvold; brother-in law; sisters-in -law; nieces, nephews, and friends. Ellera Corwin retired from Sandia Laboratories. He was also a World War II veteran, a Purple Heart recipient, and a Prisoner of War in Germany's Stalag Luft III, participating in the events of the "Great Escape" in that prison camp. ETHRIDGE -- Mack Edward Ethridge passed away at the age of 63 on Monday April 7, 2008, in Phoenix, AZ. He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl; daughter, Karey and her husband, Chuck Mitchell; and son, James and his wife, Alisa Ethridge; as well as granddaughters Kelsey, Kylie, Ava, and Diana, all of Albuquerque, NM. Also, brothers, Joe, Lonnie, and Raymond Ethridge; and sister, Betty Frazier, all of whom live in Texas. He was born on October 27, 1944, in Ft. Worth, Texas and was raised in Weatherford, TX. Mack was a graduate of The University of North Texas where he met Cheryl Rulaine Kiourkas, his wife of 40 years. After a career as an Account Manager for General Mills in El Paso, TX, he started Ethridge Tire Center, which has been located in Albuquerque, NM for the last 28 years. Mack was a recognized member of the community in which he lived, a member of Faith Lutheran Church, and the Executives Association of Greater Albuquerque. He will be remembered as an unassuming man who believed in people, who charted his own path in life, and lived it on his terms until the very end. He will also be remembered as a caring man who helped countless family, friends, customers, and employees in their times of need. We will miss him dearly. GALON-RESS -- Ruth Galon-Ress, 88, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2008, in Socorro, NM. She was born March 7, 1920, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to Herman and Emma (Brown) Galon. As an infant, she immigrated to the United States with her family and she grew up in California and New Mexico. She lived the majority of her life in New Mexico as a wife and partner in the ranching business. She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Fite; brother, Ervin Galon; her children: JoAnn Cook, Carolyn Wilson and husband, Bill, Clifford Cook and wife, Valerie, Evelyn Kirby and husband, Lee, Patricia Majors and husband, Stuart, and Keith (Buck) Bryan and wife, Sandra; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She had many talents and will be fondly remembered by her family and her many friends. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held at a later date. HAMILTON -- James E., 75, a resident of Albuquerque since 1970, died a sudden death Tuesday, April 8, 2008. He was born January 15, 1933, to Joseph E. and Mary (Keast) Hamilton in Lansing, Michigan. His loving wife of 50 years, Nora F. Hamilton, and infant daughter, Rhonda Lynn Hamilton, preceded him in death. He is survived by his children, Joetta (Jo) Cormier and spouse, Ronnie, of Albuquerque, Michael Hamilton of Albuquerque, and Natalie Johnson and spouse, James, of Shoreline, WA; his sisters, Mary Jo Welch of Dallas, TX and Patricia Lonergan of Bend, OR; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. James was retired after being self-employed for many years; his former businesses were M&S Transmissions and co-owner of Wholesale Auto Parts. He enjoyed camping and fishing, playing cribbage, and pinochle. He was also a US Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Rosary will be recited on Monday, April 14, 2008, 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW, with viewing from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family. MCDILL -- 1917-2008 James McDill Peoples, Jr., age 90, a resident of Los Lunas, NM, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2008, after surviving prostate cancer, stroke, heart attacks, renal failure, and low alfalfa prices. He was known as James, Jim, and to most of Valencia County as "Mr. People". He was born in Matthews, NC, and plowed his father's fields behind mules while still in elementary school. He grew up attending Sardis Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC, where burial took place on St. Patrick's Day in the family plot. Jim served his country in the United States Army Air Corps from 1941-1946. He was stationed at Kirtland as well as in the Philippines and Japan. Following discharge, Jim returned to Albuquerque and made it his home. He was a realtor, but a farmer at heart, and moved to Valencia County in 1974 to farm and raise Hereford beef cattle and Alfalfa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie and James McDill Peoples Sr.; his sister, Rachael; brother, Preston; infant daughter, Charlotte; and stepdaughter, Candi Smith. James is survived by his devoted wife, Claire; son, James R.; stepchildren, Harold, Jeni, and Kent and their spouses; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his three sisters, Perry, Margaret, and Emma. MCGRATH -- Dora K. McGrath, 97, of Albuquerque, NM, and an avid Lobo's fan, passed away Monday, March 31, 2008. She was born and raised in Vernon Center, MN. She moved to Albuquerque in the 1950's with her sister, Mary (deceased). Dora had many fond memories of growing up in Vernon Center with her sister, Mary, and brothers, Charles and Edwin. She took great pride and interest in her family's history as described in her genealogy writing. She had a voice for music, a gift for writing, a sense of humor, and timing for one-liners. Dora served with the Red Cross hospitals in England and the Philippines during WWII and attended the Aquinas Newman Center faithfully. She is survived by her niece, Betsy Linsert, of VA; nephews, Charles Kraus of GA and David Kraus of MN; and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Charles and Edwin Kraus; and sister, Mary Kraus. MERCER -- Allen V. Mercer, a resident of Albuquerque for over 60 years, died on April 10, 2008, in his home surrounded by his loved ones. Mr. Mercer was born on July 23, 1926, to Lafe and Lena Mercer, in Prescott, Arizona. Allen worked for the Army Corp. of Engineers for more than 30 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, from July 17, 1944 to June 10, 1946. He served on the USS Carlisle in the Pacific and has been attending reunions with shipmates for the past 13 years. He was a member of BPOE- Lodge 461 for 52 years. Allen is survived by his wife Helen; son, Lloyd Mercer and Beth Herring; daughters, Carla Mercer, Lynn Mercer, Phyllis Fetherolf; grandsons Trey Mercer and Nicole Liberty, Dillon Lesniak; granddaughters, Alex Lesniak, Renee Kissinger, Tami Buhr; sister, Dorothy Eddleman; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Harold Mercer. PITTELL -- Glenn Pittell died suddenly April 8, at age 55. Glenn was a sculptor, collector of rustic treasures, would-be bull rider, Scrabble enthusiast, dart fiend, and a gourmet/gourmand with a special affinity for his outdoor kitchen. Glenn was a much-loved husband, brother, uncle, friend, and neighbor in the Fringecrest community. Glenn was also a dedicated mental health professional who brought commitment and tenacity to his work with clients and their families. Glenn was raised on his beloved Galveston Island, and those environs had a profound influence on his loves and life. Glenn received his BFA from the University of Texas in Austin, and went on to a MA in Art Education with Art Therapy emphasis at UNM. Glenn took great pride in introducing an art therapy program to the Albertina Kerr Center in Portland, Oregon where he worked with behaviorally-disordered adolescents. Returning to New Mexico in 2001, Glenn continued his mental health work at Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital, most recently as a discharge planner for the inpatient psychiatric unit. Glenn is survived by his wife, Lynn Hillas; sister and brother-in-law, Jill and Bob Randall, of Galveston; niece, Clair; and nephew, Spencer; brother and wife, Mark and Sue Pittel, of Houston; and nephew, Mike. Glenn will be remembered for his compulsion to befriend, screwball humor, and expansive heart. PLONT -- Roger George Plont went to be with The Lord on April 8, 2008. He was born October 26, 1940, in Ludington, Michigan to Joe and Genevieve (Chavalia) Plont and grew to be our dad, a mighty man of God, long-distance runner, puppeteer, craftsman, and prophetic speaker who loved unconditionally his children and grandchildren, Teil (Judi), Aurora, Orion, Ariana, Aiden, Emily, Ariel, Samantha, Zachary, Izzabella, Trinity, Suzie Leigh; Trom; Sunny; Levi (Angela), Faith, Alorah, and Vance. They all remain except for Orion who went on before his grandpa on April 3, 2008. Also surviving Roger are his sisters, Janet Plont, Diana (Leo) Bordeaux, and Elizabeth Plont of Muskegon, Michigan; Barbara (Robert) Bergbower of Lake Kiowa, Texas; Beverly Dykema of Fruitport, Michigan; and six nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandsons, Christian and Orion; his parents; and his brother, Leroy Plont.
