Obituary for MERCER

Allen V. Mercer, a resident of Albuquerque for over 60 years, died on April 10, 2008, in his home surrounded by his loved ones. Mr. Mercer was born on July 23, 1926, to Lafe and Lena Mercer, in Prescott, Arizona. Allen worked for the Army Corp. of Engineers for more than 30 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, from July 17, 1944 to June 10, 1946. He served on the USS Carlisle in the Pacific and has been attending reunions with shipmates for the past 13 years. He was a member of BPOE- Lodge 461 for 52 years. Allen is survived by his wife Helen; son, Lloyd Mercer and Beth Herring; daughters, Carla Mercer, Lynn Mercer, Phyllis Fetherolf; grandsons Trey Mercer and Nicole Liberty, Dillon Lesniak; granddaughters, Alex Lesniak, Renee Kissinger, Tami Buhr; sister, Dorothy Eddleman; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Harold Mercer. A visitation will be held at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. on Saturday April 12, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a Service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque.
