Brown -- Jerry Lloyd Brown, age 47, a resident of Tijeras, passed away on Friday August 11, 2000. He is survived by his wife Jodi Brown, daughter; Laura Leigh Brown, son; Dakota Lee Brown, mother; Dee Brown Talbert and step father Judd, brothers; Don Brown Jr. and Ken Brown and wife Joanne, sisters; Lola Holmberg, Jodi and husband Mark Lynam, step sister; Lisa Makow and family, brother-in-law; Mark Frazee and wife Terri, Chris Frazee and wife Linda, sister-in-law; Karen Frazier and husband Jerry, and mother and father-in-law; Norma and Joe Frazee. Jerry is also survived by 20 nieces and nephews and a special Aunt Carol Delloiacono. He was preceded in death by his father; Don D. Brown and brother; Gary Lee Brown. Chavez -- Mrs. Stella R. Chavez, 57, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on August 9, 2000. Mrs. Chavez is survived by her companion of 17 years, Jesus Chacon; her daughter, Lorraine Chavez; four sons, Henry Chavez, Johnny Chavez, Frank Chavez and Gilbert Chavez; seven sisters, Elosia Aguilar and husband, Pablo, Beatrice Chavez, Bennie Sypien, Josephine Baca and husband, Tom, Sally Elasser, Libby Young and Margaret Contreras; a special nephew, James Shoats and a special niece, Eve L. Chavez; three grandchildren, Manuel, Shantel and Christina; special friends, Veronica and Jesus Valverde; two aunts, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Chavez was a member of the Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW, from 3:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, August 14, 2000, 9:00 a.m. at San Felipe de Neri Church, 2005 Plaza NW, Monsignor Leo Lucero, Celebrant. Cloak -- Mary Helen Cloak, 77, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, died peacefully on Friday August 11th. Born in Washington D.C., she graduated from UNM with a degree in Business Administration, and was a member of the University Heritage Club. Mary Helen, a 58 year resident of Albuquerque, was a devout Catholic and actively involved with Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, the Friendship Force, and AARP. Mary Helen was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Dunphy and John Cloak. She is survived by her daughter, Carole Rigg from Scottsdale, AZ; and two sons, Steve Dunphy and John Cloak, both from Albuquerque. She is also survived by her brother, Lindsey Green; eight grandchildren; a nephew; two nieces; and several great-nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be said at Fitzgerald & Son, 3113 Carlisle NE, at 7:00 p.m., Sunday. Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Francis Eggert on Monday, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Cordell -- Mildred"Mid" Cordell, 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, a godly woman, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, died Thursday, August 10, 2000. She is survived by her daughters, Ann Cordell Harrington and husband, Rob of Plano, TX, Gretchen Cordell Wilson and husband, Shelby A. of Bloomington, IN and Pat Cordell Love of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Robin Harrington Brady and husband, Scott of Meridian, TX, Ginger Harrington Ellis and husband, Kirby of Kingwood, TX, William Cordell Harrington and wife, Christy of Garland, TX, Suzan Harrington Zakrzewski and husband, Devin of San Antonio, TX, Valerie Wilson Boado and husband, Mike of the Philipines, Bonnie Wilson Neuhouser and husband, Phil of Leo, IN, Nancy Wilson Gapter of Longmont, CO and Tricia Love Dailey and husband, John of Albuquerque; and 20 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cordell was preceded in death by her husband, W. H."Bill" Cordell; brother, Frank Hildebrand; and a great-granddaughter, Judith Dailey. Mrs. Cordell was born on October 26, 1908 to Rodney A. and Sarah J. (Spencer) Woodin in Anderson, IN. She graduated from Indiana University in 1930. Mrs Cordell was a retired teacher from Sunset Mesa School. She had been a longtime active member of First Baptist Church. Dieter -- Martin L. Dieter passed away Friday, August 11, 2000. Mr. Dieter is survived by is nephew, John Sutton and wife, Pamela of Los Alamos,NM; great-nephews, Andrew and Kevin Sutton; and great-niece, Tamara Sutton. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ethel Sutton of Albuquerque. Mr. Dieter was educated in New York and served during WWII in the US Army. He attended Julliard in 1948 and the Manhattan School of Music in 1950, where he received his masters in music. He moved to Albuquerque in 1952 and taught music privately for a few years. Martin was then employed at Sandia National Labs from 1955 until he retired in 1985. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundations, PO Box 19000, Atlanta, GA, 30326. Eicker -- Mary Frances Eicker, age 68, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday August 4, 2000. Foster -- Benjamin Emerson Foster, 81, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on August 10, 2000 in his home. He was born in Wakefield, Massachusetts on May 15, 1919. He had lived in Albuquerque since 1964. He is survived by his wife, Hattie"Penny" Foster of Albuquerque; sons, Malcolm S. Foster, wife, Bernadette, Jonathan H. Foster, wife, Judy; daughters, Martha Foster and Marianne Foster Mendez, husband, Tony; grandchildren, Kristen Hernandez, Gregory T. Foster and Christopher T. Foster; brother, Malcolm L. Foster of Brazoria, TX and Harpswell, Main; sister, Katherine F. Gilleland of Burlington, Vermont. He was preceded in death by his son, Karl Emerson Foster in 1971. Benjamin was a graduate of Holderness Prep School and Medford Vocational School. Mr. Foster retired in 1987 from Sandia National Labs. Mr. Foster loved Maine and his (DORY). Garcia -- Bernice V. Garcia was born on June 19, 1914 in Los Ojos, NM to Santiago and Frutosa Velasquez, who preceded her in death. She was a resident of Belen, NM for fifty-five years before moving to Socorro, NM as a resident at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home. There she was loved and cared for until December 1999, when she was transferred to Sun Bridge Health Care Nursing Home in Belen. She was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on August 11, 2000, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ignacio Garcia; four sons, Gil, Jimmie, Eddie, and Raymond; and her very special son-in-law, Arthur,"Teddy" Apodaca in 1998. Bernice is survived by her son, Sam I. Garcia and wife, Gloria of Las Cruces; daughters, Lillie G. Apodaca of Albuquerque, Mary L. Chavez and husband, Ambrose of Albuquerque, Frieda G. Sinclair and husband, Alan of Los Lunas, Dora Torres and husband, Fidel W. of Socorro; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Agnes and Eliria Velasquez of Las Angles, CA; and a very special sister-in-law, Virginia Sais and husband, Antonio of Barstow, CA. Bernice is also survived by numerous relatives and friends. Gardner -- Adron Lee Gardner, 68, passed away August 10, 2000 after a long illness. He was born October 17, 1931 in Oakland, Oklahoma. Adron taught social studies and coached cross-country and track in Grants, Laguna and Belen. He retired as Athletic Coordinator at Belen High School in 1988. He was twice named Coach of the Year by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association in 1972 and 1981. He was preceded in death by his father Burt Gardner; mother, Grace Young Howell Gardner; and brothers, James Howell, Hoyt Howell and Don Gardner. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Edwina Chavez Gardner; his son, Adron Edward Gardner; his daughter, Elena Gardner; and his grandson, Jacob Gardner, all of Belen. He is also survived by brothers, Wayne Gardner of Wright City, OK and W.E. Howell of Madill, OK, and his sister, Ruth Mercaldo of North Carolina; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. He will be missed by the many students and athletes whose lives he touched in Grants, Laguna, and Belen. Koehl -- Beloved Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Rose M. Koehl, age 82, passed away August 11, 2000. Mrs. Koehl was born in Kelley, New Mexico and was a lifelong Albuquerque resident. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Koehl and son Lewis Koehl. Mrs. Koehl was a member of Queen of angels Church and Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. She is survived by sons Kenneth F. Koehl Sr. and wife Nancy, Candido Garcia and wife Theresa; daughters Bobbette H. Griego and husband Pat, Hazel A. Baca and husband Archie; eight grandsons; eight granddaughters; and forty seven great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Visitations will be held this afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Garcia Mortuary. Miller -- Carol Jean Cone Miller, a former resident of New Mexico, died in Newcastle, Wyoming, August 3, 2000."Jean" was born on Jan 1, 1945 in Moscow, ID, to Swanie and Marie (Brest) Kuoppala. The family moved to Grants, NM in 1958, and Jean graduated from Grants High School in 1963. She married Robert F. Cone and had three children, Kerry Mark, Caline Marie, and Christopher Sean. Jean returned to school and pursued a career as a professional geologist in her early 30s. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a BS in Geology in 1980 and worked for Phillips Petroleum, and later Frontier Petroleum Services, before moving to the Black Hills area of South Dakota to work for Golden Reward Mining Company. There she met and married Paul A. Miller, and joined him in a geologic consulting firm, Bald Mountain Mining Company, in 1989. Jean always enjoyed working with community activities, either through her church or with local chambers of commerce and hospitals. She and Paul also supported various young people's activities through their company. Jean's greatest joy in life, however, was her family. Jean was an energetic, outgoing, and loving person, and she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, Paul A. Miller, of Newcastle, WY; her children, Kerry Mark and wife, Amy, of Belle Vue, IA, Christopher Sean and wife, Roya, of Albuquerque, and John Paul Miller of Lead, SD, and Caline Marie and husband, John Cochran, of Albuquerque; various aunts and uncles including Sigurd Kuoppala and wife, Grace, of Albuquerque, Henry Kuoppala of Las Cruces, Gunnard Kuoppala and wife, Betty, of Butte, MT, Eino Kuoppala and wife, Margaret, of Palmer, AK, Wayne Kuoppala of Joplin, MO, John Brest and wife, Wilma, of Akron, CO, Bernice Boyle and husband, Herb, of Palmer, AK, and John Niemi and wife, Betty, of Buffalo, SD; plus numerous cousins including Judy Towell and husband, Frank, of Palmer, AK, Alan Kuoppala and wife, Terri, of Butte, MT, Marcia Gilbert and husband, Allen, of Sisters, OR, and Debra Niemi of Spearfish, SD. O'bannon -- Dr. Charles Edward O'Bannon passed away on July 14, 2000 in Tempe, Arizona. He was born in Albuquerque on March 22, 1933. He is survived by wife, Nancy; children, Douglas D'Ann and Carey and their spouses; his sister, Lois-Faye Lampson of Albuquerque; uncle, Dan E. O'Bannon; aunts, Marjorie B. Smith and B.J. Brocklehurst. Charles retired from AZ State University in 1997 after 33 years as a Professor of Engineering, including seven years serving as Chair of the Civil Engineering Department. He graduated from Albuquerque High School, received his B.S. from UNM, earned his M.S. from Harvard University, and was granted a Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University. He served on the AZ State Board of Technical Registration and was elected two terms as Chair. Listed in the"Who's Who in the West", he was on the President's Committee on Employment of the Handicapped during the 1970s. Charlie's energy, intellect, humor, and his quest for living in spite of physical challenges were an inspiration to his family, friends, students and all the"strangers he never met." Charles was predeceased by his parents, Della Mattson O'Bannon and Charles Patrick O'Bannon, Albuquerque District Engineer, New Mexico State Highway Department, who was the son of Daniel O'Bannon, longtime Bernalillo County Assessor. Services took place in Arizona and burial in Albuquerque. Parker -- Raymond Parker Jr. passed away early Friday morning, August 4, 2000. Ray was born in Saratoga, New York on May 3, 1932 to Raymond L. Parker and Florence Viola Waters-Parker. He is survived by a brother, Mace Parker of Schenectody, New York and by his sister, Dorothy Wildy of Schuylerville, New York; and her children, Patricia Biolahoski and Gloria Pasquarell and their children and grandchildren; as well as his nephew-in-law, Ken Pasquarell. Ray graduated from high school in Saratoga, New York and then went on to graduate from University of Illinois with a Engineering degree. The major part of his career was spent working in the aerospace industry for Hughes Aircraft in California. One of his proudest achievements was his contributions to the space lab project. His success in life was a in spite of a bought with polio at the age of 13 which left him physically challenged. He retired to Albuquerque in 1992. Ray's friends and family will miss him. Printz -- Dorothy G. Printz, 89, of Albuquerque, died August 9, after a long illness. She was born Dorothy Greenwald on June 3, 1911 in New York City. She married the late Philip A Printz, M.D. in 1937, and they resided in New York City and New Rochelle, NY until moving to Albuquerque in 1976. She devoted many years of her life to charitable works for the Ruth Kirzon Society and Hadassah. Dorothy Printz is survived by her son, Joseph L. Printz, formerly of Albuquerque, and recently of Boulder, CO; her daughter, Catherine Herman of Raleigh, NC; her sister, Pearl Adler of Great Neck, NY; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, August 14, at Fairview Memorial Park. Contributions can be made to Albuquerque Hadassah.

Ramirez -- Dominic Eugene Ramirez, 19, beloved son, brother, grandson and nephew walked into the arms of our Lord Jesus, Wednesday, August 9, 2000. Dominic was born on November 3, 1980 in Albuquerque; he was a parishioner of San Felipe Catholic Church. Dominic was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Casimiro D. and Maria M. Ramirez. He is survived by his loving mother Denise Moreno of the family home; his father, Freddie L. Ramirez and wife Monica; two brothers, Freddie M. Ramirez Jr., Roger Ramirez; and one sister Crucita J. Ramirez. Also surviving are his maternal grandmother, Josephine Baca and husband Tom; and his maternal grandfather Dennis O'Brian; and a host of friends. Dominic will be greatly missed by his loving family and those who knew and loved him. Visitations will be Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Garcia Mortuary, located on 8th and Iron, where a Rosary will be recited Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. Another Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. also in the chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at San Felipe de Neri Catholic church. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Schwenke -- Edwin C. Schwenke, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1947, died Friday, August 11, 2000. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah A. Williams -- Bertha Mahree Conley Barnhart Williams, 93, a resident of Albuquerque since 1924, died Wednesday, August 9, 2000. Bertha was born on December 23, 1906 near Custer City, OK. She grew up and attended school in Melrose, NM from 1909 to 1924. Bertha then moved to Albuquerque to attend business college and subsequently worked with Brown Brothers Food Brokerage and Murdock Food Brokerage until 1956. She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was especially dedicated to the Visitation Ministry. If wealth were measured by the regard in which one is held by other people, Bertha would be the richest woman in New Mexico. She is survived by five nephews; four nieces; 28 grandnephews and grandnieces, whom she referred to as her"kids"; and many, many special friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond O. Barnhart and E. Roy Williams; her parents; four brothers; four nephews and three nieces. Services will be held Tuesday, 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1100 Indian School NE, with Pastor Larry A. Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
