Miller -- Carol Jean Cone Miller, a former resident of New Mexico, died in Newcastle, Wyoming, August 3, 2000."Jean" was born on Jan 1, 1945 in Moscow, ID, to Swanie and Marie (Brest) Kuoppala. The family moved to Grants, NM in 1958, and Jean graduated from Grants High School in 1963. She married Robert F. Cone and had three children, Kerry Mark, Caline Marie, and Christopher Sean. Jean returned to school and pursued a career as a professional geologist in her early 30s. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a BS in Geology in 1980 and worked for Phillips Petroleum, and later Frontier Petroleum Services, before moving to the Black Hills area of South Dakota to work for Golden Reward Mining Company. There she met and married Paul A. Miller, and joined him in a geologic consulting firm, Bald Mountain Mining Company, in 1989. Jean always enjoyed working with community activities, either through her church or with local chambers of commerce and hospitals.
