Mrs. Stella R. Chavez, 57, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on August 9, 2000. Mrs. Chavez is survived by her companion of 17 years, Jesus Chacon; her daughter, Lorraine Chavez; four sons, Henry Chavez, Johnny Chavez, Frank Chavez and Gilbert Chavez; seven sisters, Elosia Aguilar and husband, Pablo, Beatrice Chavez, Bennie Sypien, Josephine Baca and husband, Tom, Sally Elasser, Libby Young and Margaret Contreras; a special nephew, James Shoats and a special niece, Eve L. Chavez; three grandchildren, Manuel, Shantel and Christina; special friends, Veronica and Jesus Valverde; two aunts, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Chavez was a member of the Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW, from 3:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, August 14, 2000, 9:00 a.m. at San Felipe de Neri Church, 2005 Plaza NW, Monsignor Leo Lucero, Celebrant. Committal service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Henry Chavez, Frank Chavez, Gilbert Chavez, Johnny Chavez, Manuel Jaramillo and Jesus Chacon. Honorary pallbearers will be Manuel Aguilar and Patrick Trujillo. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW, in charge of arrangements.
