Converse -- RICHARD LORIN CONVERSE age 94, of Mesa, Arizona, and formerly of Los Alamos, NM, passed away Monday, June 5, 2000 in Mesa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kathryn. He moved to Arizona from Los Alamos in 1968. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer (US Navy) and retired from the National Lab in 1968. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve in Phoenix, AZ, Branch #163, and also a charter member of the VFW of Los Alamos Post #8874. He is survived by his daughter, Marianne Keith and husband, Donald of Albuquerque; step-son, Joseph LaCome of Chandler, AZ; brother, Clayton P. Converse and wife, Marge of Wichita Falls, TX; grandsons, Scott Keith and his wife, Lori and Brian Keith; and great-grandsons, Redmon and Donald Keith. Cowan -- Lawrence Bud Cowan, age 70, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died peacefully Sunday morning, June 4, 2000 at home. He was born on December 8, 1929, to Charles Dallas Cowan and Esther Belle Cowan. Bud served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and was stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, WA where he met his future bride, Claudine Rae Prewitt. They were married on July 9, 1954. Bud was a member of the Heat & Frost Insulators and Asbestos Union Local 76 from 1948 until 1971. He started New Mexico Motorcycle Salvage in March 1972 and operated it until he retired in 1996; it continues to be run by family members. Bud is survived by his wife of 46 years, Claudine; his son, Monty Cowan, both of Albuquerque; daughters, Zoanne Crouch Kabriel of Louisville, CO, Roxanne Collins, Michelle Newlan and husband, Ric, Laura Sandoval and husband, Benny, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Jason Crouch, Lucas Crouch, Adam Crouch, Trudy Handley and husband, Ronnie, Mariah Cowan, Nathan Cowan, Jonathan Vallez, Delorianna Sandoval, Maria Sandoval and Christina Sandoval; special aunt, Dorothy Long and husband, Mike; and stepsister, Betty Cowan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Esther Belle Runner; father, Charles Dallas Cowan; and sister, Ida Mae Walters. Edge -- Waymon (Wayne) Edge, beloved husband and father, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2000 after a short illness. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Edge; daughter, Toya A. Fishburn; son-in-law, Peter Fishburn all of Albuquerque; son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren, Dr. Stephen, Alice and Ciarra Edge, all of Argylite, KY; sisters, Garetha and Dorothy Edge of Bedford, OH; numerous other relatives; and animal pals, Samba, Burce, Kitty and Ginger. Wayne was born July 21, 1927 in Cleveland, OH where he worked as a Realtor and taught in the junior high schools. Kemper -- Jean C. Kemper, a 50 year resident of Albuquerque, passed away at home on Friday, June 2, 2000. A volunteer with the Girl Scouts for many years, she was active as a trainer of leaders and trainers, and also lead Girl Scout troops in Albuquerque. Following retirement, Jean and her husband, Bud, spent eight years sailing the waters of Mexico in their 32 foot sailboat. Survivors include Dr. Clarence M. Kemper, her husband of 58 years; her daughters, Peggy Gutmann and husband, Jim of Middletown, CT and Mary Kay Rovelstad and husband, Gary of Montevallo, AL; as well as four grandchildren; and one great-grandson. A private memorial service has been held. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the Girl Scouts of Chaparral Council, 4000 Jefferson Plz. NE, Albuquerque 87109 are suggested. Knapp -- Darwin Henry Knapp, Sr., a resident of Rio Rancho since 1973, passed away at home on June 3, 2000 after a long and courageous battle with congestive heart failure. He was born on December 26, 1912 to Glenn Leigh and Estelle Ford Knapp in Ransomeville, NY. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Cornelia Bedeaux Knapp; four children by a previous marriage, Darwin, Jr. and wife, Gerio of Mesa, AZ, Darlene Tomak, Tonawanda, NY, Elaine Farraro and husband, John, Holley, NY, David Wm. Knapp and wife, Jane of St. Charles, MO; nine grandchildren; and 14 grandchildren, and he loved them all. He graduated from high school in Detroit and Trott Vocational School in Niagra Falls in 1932. During WW II he served in the European Theater of Operations in England. He was a charter member of St. Paul's United Church and served on the Council, Board of Deacons and sang tenor in the Chancel Choir. He was a member of Sandoval Lodge #76 AM&AF Past Patron of Amboy Chapter #151 So. Amboy, NJ; Turquoise Chapter #71, Rio Rancho; American Legion #118 and Meadowlark Sr. Center. He started the committee and helped to incorporate the city of Rio Rancho. He loved gardening and music. In Western New York he worked in industrial relations and wrote an internal company magazine. After he moved to New Jersey he worked a cost accountant for contractors who also employed him in Illinois till he was forced to retire on disability. HE is the author of"Family Finances", helping people to set up budgets. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the very professional and compassionate staff of Quality Continuum Hospice who helped lighten the pain and burden to the family during the last few months and also the many friends who stood by. Interment will take place at Vista Verde's Rose Garden at 10:00 a.m., followed by Memorial Services at St. Paul's United Church on Saturday, June 10 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Church or Quality Continuum Hospice, 2625 Pennsylvania Av., Alb.

Lisk -- Elva (Elvie) Edward Lisk, a resident of Mountainair, NM, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2000. He was born in Bosque, NM to Edward and Maud (Burton) Lisk on October 22, 1913. Elvie was a benefactor to many of the people in Mountainair in his own quiet and unassuming way. His quick wit and dry sense of humor entertained us over the years. His early years were spent working as an electrician at the Empire Mine in Hanover, NM and on ranches as a cowboy. He joined the U.S. Army during WWII and served his country proudly for the duration of the war. He was honorably discharged as a S/SGT. in 1945. He married Della L. Hileman who survives him. He is survived by his daughter, Edith Redfearn of Belen; sons, Joe Lisk of Quesnel, Canada, B.C., and Jerry Lisk and wife, Holly of Rio Rancho; six grandchildren, Ron J. Redfearn and wife, Colleen of Farmington, Kerri Allgood and husband, Lance of Gallup, Bobby Lisk and Jessie Lisk, both of Quesnel, Canada, B.C., Matthew Lisk and Jonathan Lisk, both of Rio Rancho; great-grandchildren, Dana Marie Redfearn and Jake Alan Redfearn, both of Farmington; brothers, Tommy and wife, Faye of Globe, AZ and their children, Rusty, Fawn, Mike, Eddie and Edna Faye, Floyd and wife, Winnalee of Oracle, AZ and their children, Laura Lee and Dean; sister, Edna Malone and husband, Pat of San Bernardino, CA and children, Mike, Lynn, and David; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Toni) Lisk of Deming and children, Neil and Elvie Ray (Butchie); sister, Mae Hall of Albuquerque and their children, Bobby and Linda. Montoya -- Dennis�Sonny Montoya, 62, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, June 5, 2000. He was born and raised in Martineztown, and had lived in California for 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Andrea Chang; sons, Paul Montoya, Dennis Montoya and wife, Diwata Montoya with two children, Tammy Allen and Paulina Montoya; the mother of his children, Linda Montoya; sisters, Irene Duran, Rosalie Saenz and Dolly Herrera; brother, Ernest Pablo Montoya; uncle, Pablo Martinez; aunt, Josephine Schnoor; and many nieces and nephews. His son's called him Tata. Mr. Montoya was Vice President of Sunwest Silver Company. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at North Valley Seventh Day Adventist Church, 4001 12th St. NW. Nieto -- Agnes P. Nieto, beloved sister, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 7, 2000. Ms. Nieto was a lifelong Albuquerque resident and a parishioner of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She is survived by three brothers, Leo Padilla and wife, Anne, Gilbert Padilla and wife, Ida, both of Albuquerque and Louis Padilla and wife, Lupe of Chimayo, NM; two sisters, Clara Duran and husband, Herman, Dora Candelaria and husband, Rudy; and several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. A Memorial Rosary will be recited this evening, at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Garcia Mortuary, located on 8th and Iron. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday morning, 9:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 412 Stover SW, with Fr. James Moore as Celebrant. Parmley -- Mildred Mather Parmley, 79, a resident of Albuquerque for over 70 years, died Wednesday, June 7, 2000 from the effects of a massive stroke. Mildred worked in the attendance office at Highland High School for over 30 years, and in her retirement years continued to work and be active in a Credit Union office, a retirement home, and lastly in a Campfire day care program at Montezuma School. She was a wonderful musician and soprano soloist, and over the years directed choirs at Monte Vista Christian Church, Trinity & University Heights United Methodist Churches and was choir director at St. Andrews United Methodist Church for 25 years until retiring in 1989. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Blanche Mather; two brothers, William and Robert; and daughter, Patricia in 1998. She is survived by two nephews, Sam and Greg Mather in Ohio; niece, Bobbie Cottrill in Florida; her dear great-niece, Anne Lemieux in South Carolina; and sister-in-law, Marjorie Mather in Albuquerque. Services will be held Saturday, 2:00 p.m., at Faith Chapel, 1726 Girard Blvd. NE, with Rev. Mable Dawe and Rev. Tom Salmon officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. Tubb -- Dorothy Helen (Sain) Tubb, 84, a resident of Los Alamos, NM and Albuquerque, NM areas since 1951, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Clarence Tubb of Edgewood, NM; sons, Gary Tubb and wife, Susan of Seabrook, TX and John Tubb and wife, Pat of White Rock, NM; daughters, Susan Woy and husband, Rod of Shawnee, KS, and Karen Bryant and husband, Garry of Edgewood, NM; 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mary Ellen Walden and Edna Mae Clawson, both of Shelbyville, IL, Wanda Lee Medler of Assumption, IL, and Juanita Juvae Compton of Lakewood, IL. Mrs. Tubb attended First Baptist Church in Tijeras, NM for many years. Her children remarked that there was nothing extraordinary about their mother except that she was an extra-ordinary wife and mother who loved unconditionally. She was selflessly devoted to her husband and family and she will leave a void in the lives of all who knew her. Wright -- Helen Lenora Wright, age 61, a longtime resident of Belen, living the last nine years in Las Cruces, died May 23, 2000, at Memorial Hospital in Las Cruces. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Martin R. and Hetty Lee Wright; three brothers, Donald James, Edward Earl and Martin Richard Wright; and survived by one sister, Wilda and her husband, Bruce MacLauchlan; one sister-in-law; six nieces and nephews; 15 great-nieces and nephews; one great-great-niece and one great-great nephew; one aunt, one uncle, and 21 cousins. Memorial services will be held June 10, 11:00 a.m., at Terrace Grove Cemetery, 1200 Aragon Rd., Belen (north end of town off main st., go west on Aragon Rd., about one mile).
