Barraza -- Lidia A. Barraza died November 24, 1998 in Albuquerque. She was born on August 3, 1925 in Santa Rosa, New Mexico to Manuelita and Nicholas Apodaca. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecilio Barraza and several sisters and brothers. She is survived by ten sons, Leo Barraza and wife, Diana, Paul Barraza and wife, Leticia, Cruz Barraza and wife, Delia, Johnny Barraza all of Alamogordo, Lorenzo Barraza and wife, Sylvia, George Barraza and wife, Tina, Julio Barraza and wife, Alma, Fernando Barraza and wife, Deana, Louie Barraza, and Cecilio Barraza Jr. all of Albuquerque; six daughters, Christina Cardiel and husband, Ricardo, Josie Granados and husband, Benny all of Alamogordo, Nickie Woods and husband, Marty of Clovis, Veronica Kram and husband, Greg, Aurora and Bobby both of Florida and Trina Barraza of Albuquerque and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Eugenia Coyazo of Alamogordo and Clara Jarique of Roswell, New Mexico. A rosary will be recited in Alamogordo, Friday, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 9:00 a.m. Interment to follow Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery. Bigsby -- Jackie C. Bigsby, 50, a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, died Tuesday, November 24, 1998. Brady -- John Joseph, born July 22, 1950 in Boston, MA, died November 19, 1998 in Albuquerque, NM. Mr. Brady was a resident of Somerville, MA and attended the Somerville School system prior to his military service. He is survived by his sisters, Joanne Brennan and husband, Bill from Londonderry, NH, and Theresa Honeycheck and her husband, Thomas from Houston, TX; brother, Albert Brady and wife, Claire of Kingwood, TX; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Helen Brady. Mr. Brady served his country in the Vietnam War and in Korea for the U.S. Army and in the U.S. Navy. He was awarded medals of National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Ribbon; Vietnam Service Medal; Navy Expeditionary Medal and a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. Creasey -- Iris Marie Creasey, 92, a resident of Arizona for the past 9 years and a former resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, November 24, 1998. She is survived by her son, Harold Creasey and wife, Donna of Cave Creek, AZ; daughter, Carol McCleary and husband, Colin of Cave Creek, AZ; brother, Deward Morris and wife, Ilene of Socorro; sister, Lucille Hibner and husband, Donald of Estancia; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Creasey was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Creasey in 1972. While she was a resident of Albuquerque Mrs. Creasey was an active member of Riverside Church of Christ. Czosek -- Mrs. Shirley Czosek died Tuesday November 24, 1998 in Albuquerque, at the age of 73. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert L. Czosek; son, Robert F. Czosek; brother, Russell Timko and wife, Mildred of Largo, FL; sister-in-law, Lillian Tirado; nieces, Cecelia and husband, Sal Casciaro, and Bonnie and husband,Tim Boles; nephews, Barry, Bruce and Bryan Timko and Ray Berg. Shirley formerly worked for Fedway - Dillards. She was also a long time member of La Mesa Senior Club. Cremation has taken place, and memorial services will be held at a later date. Dazzo -- SAM DAZZO, B.A. 1932, J.D. 1935, U. of Colorado. 901 Val Verde, SE, Albuquerque, N.M., 87108. Born Dawson, Colfax County, Territory, N.M., 12-6-1909. Married to FRANCES JOY DAZZO, one son, Sam Dazzo Jr. with these grandchildren, Hallie, Adam and Sam C., Merrick and Sydney Elizabeth Dazzo, and great-grandson, Adam. Admitted to law practice in New Mexico, 1936; and at same time admitted to United States District Court, for the district of New Mexico. Admitted to the United States Supreme Court, the United States Military Court of Appeals. Now retired. Appointed U.S. Commissioner for the District of N.M., 1938-1947, (now federal magistrate). Served in the armed forces of the World War 2 from 1942-1946-34 months of which was in the Pacific Command, attained rank of Major in the J.A.G.D. Written up in the History of New Mexico 1945, and again in the History of New Mexico 1960. Is in Who's Who in New Mexico 1957. Is in Who's Who in the West 1970-1971. De Longe -- Joy Lee De Longe, 84, passed away in Albuquerque on Sunday, November 22, 1998. She was born in Texas in 1914. Joy was the state swimming champion for two consecutive years in the 50 and 100 yard events. In 1940, she married Merrill E. De Longe, who had been her devoted and beloved husband for 58 years. Joy was the mother of two daughters, Vicki A. Weiss and husband, Chris of Sandia Park and Gael L. De Longe and husband, Fred Fisher of Mount Solon, VA. Among her well-loved extended family are grandchildren, Bryan Weiss and wife, Trish and her children, Brad and Doyle of Rio Rancho, and Eric Weiss and his companion, Kat Hardesty of Massachusetts; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Zachary Weiss and their mother, Linda Cooper of Moriarty. She is also survived by one sister, Bebe Suggs of Texas; brother-in-law, Kenneth De Longe; and sister-in-law, Eleanor Pettis. Joy was a Red Cross volunteer for many years, both in St. Vincent's Hospital and as the receptionist at the Santa Fe Health Service, where she was renowned for her wonderful telephone voice. She loved animals and welcomed many different ones into her life. Joy traveled extensively in Europe while Merrill was stationed in London and Naples with the U.S.A.F. Gassner -- Renee Marie Gassner returned to the Father on November 25 in Albuquerque. She was born in Valmora, New Mexico, on July 31, 1918, to Dr. and Mrs. Houston L. Staring of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She graduated from University High School and attended Louisiana State University. She became a Registered Nurse after training at Touro Infirmary, New Orleans, where she worked as a public health nurse until moving to Alexandria, Louisiana, where she was in the radiology department at Charity Hospital, later going into private duty in Baton Rouge. She married Julius S. Gassner at Camp Stewart, Georgia on February 13, 1943. After World War II, the couple lived in St. Paul, Minnesota from 1947 to 1952, next in Lafayette, Louisiana, and moved to Albuquerque in 1957, where her husband was on the faculty of the College of St. Joseph on the Rio Grande, later known as the University of Albuquerque. A few years later she served as part-time nurse in the new-born nursery at St. Joseph Hospital which her father had helped to establish many years earlier. She continued to work there until she retired. She was pre-deceased by her oldest son, Jules L. Gassner and is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, by four sons and one daughter, 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; these are her daughters-in-law, Carol Ann Gassner and son J. Gregory of Garland, Texas; Stephen T. Gassner and son Matthew of Albuquerque; John C. Gassner and wife, Rosa and daughter Michelle and Elizabeth of Edinburg, Texas; Elizabeth Devine and husband Richard and daughters Megan, Erin and Suzanne of Rio Rancho; Martin and wife, Caroline of Corrales; Thomas of the family home, Corrales; grandson SPC Andrew Gassner, U.S. Army, and his wife Nita and their son; granddaughter Julie Chavez and her husband, Paul and their two children; and granddaughter, Trieste Gassner. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Mary Staring of Jackson, MS; by her nephew James Staring and wife Leslie of Jackson, MS; by her cousin Margaret Elizabeth Weaver and husband John of Houston, TX; and by her sister-in-law, Margaret G. Long of Wauwatosa, WI; and by numerous cousins. Renee lived life to the fullest. A life-long Catholic, she was a member of San Ysidro Catholic Parish in Corrales since 1967 and an active member of the former Catholic Daughters of America Chapter 1880. She was also a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 21 and of the Nature Conservancy. She was an enthusiastic traveller and had gone to Canada, Guatemala, Honduras and to virtually all of Mexico with her family over a period of a quarter of a century. In 1975 she and her husband visited Sicily, Southern Italy, Spain, France, Luxembourg and Iceland. She greatly enjoyed reading, especially history, biography, memoirs, literature and medical arts. She took an active interest in politics, government and public issues. Among her hobbies were genealogy and the study of Mayan archeology and culture. She was a skilled seamstress and an excellent cook and kept adding to her collection of cook books. She was very fond of her flower garden and her many plants and shrubs; she loved her household pets, but most of all she delighted in her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She was a loving, devoted wife and dedicated mother, a truly beautiful woman for all seasons, and she will be sorely missed. Visitations will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. A rosary will be recited in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at San Ysidro Catholic Church in Corrales at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at San Ysidro Catholic Cemetery. Gesler -- Evelyn Wilma Mellard Gesler Nov. 21, 1928 - Nov. 23, 1998Evelyn Wilma Mellard Gesler died of a malignant brain tumor on Nov. 23 in her home in Phoenix (Ahwatukee). A memorial service will be held on Dec. 12, 2 p.m. at the Lakeshore Mortuary, 1815 S. Dobson, Mesa, AZ with the Rev. John Usry (retired) officiating. Her body has been donated tot he University of Arizona Medical School. Wilma was born in San Pedro, CA, the daughter of James William Bryan and Mary Ann Phyllis Stephens Mellard who preceded her in death, as has her brother, Robert DeMoss Mellard. She lived in Van Nuys, CA, until 1944 when the family moved to the Mellard family ranch in Hope, NM. Wilma graduated from the Radford School for Girls in El Paso, TX, and attended the University of New Mexico, and Chicago City College. She married Robert M. Gesler of Aurora, IL, on Sept. 4, 1947. They shared homes in Aurora (IL), Chicago, Riverdale (MD), River Vale (NJ), Elsmere (NY), Deerfield (IL), and Albuquerque before moving to Phoenix in 1993. Wilma was a homemaker, a loving wife, a loving mother of five and grandmother of nine. She was always an avid reader, and an active tennis player and skier in her younger days. She was a long standing member of Las Aranas Spinners and Weavers Guild in Albuquerque, and a charter member of the Ahwatukee Recreation Center Saguaro Stropers (quiltmakers). She was a member of the Mission del Sol Presbyterian Church in Tempe. Wilma and Bob celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in Nags Head, NC, last summer with their family, relatives and many friends. She is survived by her husband, Robert M.; five sons, Dr. James Wendell Gesler of Wooster, OH, Robert William Gesler of Dallas, TX, Peter Wayne Gesler of Gilbert, AZ, Thomas Warren Gesler of Simi Valley, CA, and David Walter Gesler of Denver, CO; nine grandchildren; one sister, June Mellard Hill of Ahwatukee; five nieces; one nephew; and three great-nephews. Griepentrog -- Arlene E. Griepentrog resident of Albuquerque, former resident of Milwaukee, WI. Taken by her third heart attack the evening of Thurs. Nov. 19, 1998 at the start of her 69th year. She rejoins Howard, her husband of 41 years. Dear mother of Jim and sister to Donald Bublitz of Eland, WI. Though her family was small her bond of friendships crossed miles and generations for dozens of people. This self-proclaimed hairbender touched lives as more than a beautician. As a volunteer at St. Josephs Hospital she offered aid. As an instructor she gave her experience and knowledge. And, Arlene balanced family and career as an older working mother before this was common. She leaves the world a better place from her presence here...too soon and missed. A wake will be held at 12112 Calle Zagal NE between noon and 3:00 p.m. this Sunday. Memorial contributions can be made to Catholic Social Services of Albuquerque in her name.

Martinez -- Arthur T. Martinez Jr., 59, a resident of Algodones, NM passed away on November 23, 1998. Mr. Martinez is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Patricia; one daughter, Theresa Andazola and husband, James of Albuquerque; one son, A. Patrick Martinez of Algodones, NM; his parents, Arturo and Ramona Martinez of Mora, NM; two sisters, Mae Anderson and husband, James and Margie Ortega; two brothers, Roy E. Martinez and Ted A. Persons -- Mary Leah Persons died October 25, 1998. She is survived by brothers, Douglas H. She was born February 4, 1923 in Cement, Oklahoma. She died on November 24, 1998 at the Good Samaritan Village in Hobbs. She married Harry J. Sikes on June 23, 1942 in Long Beach, CA. They owned businesses in Carlsbad and Albuqueque. Mr. Sikes died May 26, 1970 in Albuquerque. Survivors include Gary, Barbara and Jennifer Sikes of Idalou, TX; Kent, Pat, Matt and Scott Sikes of Irving, TX; Clay, Terri, Emily and Brent Sikes of Hobbs; many nieces, nephews and friends. Her final resting place will be in Albuquerque.

Siler -- Lorraine K. Painter Beel Siler, 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1982, died on Sunday, November 22, 1998. She is survived by her husband, Woodrow Siler of the family home; daughters, Karen Melfi of Albuquerque, Patricia Murphy of Stevensville, MT, and Pamela Brown and husband, Dwight of Albuquerque; son, Thomas Painter of Albuquerque; daughter, Susan Peterson and husband, Bob of Albuquerque and Laurie Pace of San Diego, CA; and thirteen grandchildren. Mrs. Siler was a teacher and taught at each grade level during her teaching career. She taught emotionally handicapped children for ten years in Palo Alto, CA. She was a member of A.A.U.W., Pi Lambda Theta, Alpha Delta Kappa, and Delta Kappa Gamma. Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday, November 30, 1998, 10:30 a.m. at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church, 8901 Candelaria NE, with Father Albert J. Podvin celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lovelace Hospice, 4145 Montgomery Blvd., NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109. French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.

Wood -- Mae Wood, age 93, a resident of Albuquerque since 1942, passed away on November 20, 1998. She was born January 2, 1905. She is survived by her two daughters, Eloise Rogers of Albuquerque and Linda Stenberg of San Diego, CA; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church. A Memorial Fund has been set up in her name at Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper Ave, NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106.
