Andrews -- Sherman E. (Andy) Andrews, 73, a resident of Albuquerque for 35 years, died on Sunday, October 4, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Mary S. Andrews of Albuquerque; son, William S. Andrews of Albuquerque; daughter, Sharon M. Andrews of La Porte, TX; sister-in-law, Sarah Andrews of Monterrey, CA; and brother-in-law, Thomas Cunningham of London, England. Mr. Andrews retired from the U.S.A.F. in 1961 after 21 years of service, having served with the 3rd U.S. Cavalry and later in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in action during World War II. Mr. Andrews served as Lt. Col. in the New Mexico State Defense Force. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #68, and lifetime member of the Eugene P. Long #32 D.A.V. Chapter in Albuquerque. After his military, he worked for the City of Albuquerque as an Animal Control Officer. Services will be held Wednesday, October 7, 1998, 9:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas NE. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Ashford -- Bruce Ashford, 52, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died on Friday, October 2, 1998. He is survived by his children, Scott Allen Ashford and wife, Lisa of San Bernadino, CA, Tonja Wilson and husband, Craig of Reno, NV and Joell Ackerman of San Bernadino, CA; six grandchildren; step-father, Robert Jaramillo of Albuquerque; half-brothers, Robert Jaramillo, Jr. and wife, Cheryl of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, Dean Jaramillo and wife, Jan of Chicago, IL, Joe Jaramillo and wife, Honey of Marino Valley, CA and Phillip Jaramillo of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Judy Ashford of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Ashford was preceded in death by his father, George Ashford; mother, Anna Ashford Jaramillo; brother, Ronald Ashford; and sister, Laura Gunckel. He was a devoted father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Chavez -- Mr. Manuel J. Chavez"Manny", 74, passed away on October 4, 1998. Manny was born on June 24, 1924 in Dos Cabesas, AZ, raised in Alamogordo, NM and had resided in Albuqueque since 1948. He was the beloved husband of 16 years to D. Eva Chavez. His children, Patricia Strabley, DT2 (USNR) Marlene Nichols, John Lawrence Chavez, Loretta A. Gonzales, Manuel L. Chavez, Jr., Ens Ronald S. Chavez, USN, Catherine Hunt, Dorothy Luciani; and step-children, Robert Monson, Ronald Monson, Roger Monson and Suzanne Lutz, will miss him deeply. His brother, Joe"Pepe" Chavez and wife, Connie; one sister, Margaret Hernandez; three daughters-in-law, Melanie Monson, Yolanda Chavez and Francine Chavez; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends will mourn his passing. During the Depression, Manny joined the Civilian Conservation Corp to help support his family. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific Theater as an Assault Boat Coxswain during World War II. After the War, he re-enlisted and served aboard the U.S.S. Donner, LSD-20, achieving the rank of BMR-2. He was a Journeyman Carpenter who built homes and building throughout New Mexico. He served as a Lector at St. Anne's Church. He also molded lives as the Boy Scout Master of Troop #16. He was preceded in death by two sons, Donald and Michael Chavez; one step-son, Richard Monson; one brother, Ralph Chavez and his father, Jose Chavez and mother, Dolores. He beamed with pride at the sight of five children in Navy uniforms. Manny retired after 18 years of service with the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District, where he worked as an engineering technician. He was a member of the Catholic Church, a member of the American Legion Post #49, and a member of Fleet Reserve Association and was an avid golf enthusiast. His retirement years allowed him and his wife to enjoy life by dining, dancing and whipping his friends on the golf course. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 1800 Martha NE 87112, with visitation at the church after 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday morning, 9:00 p.m., at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, with viewing at the church after 8:30 a.m. Father Renaud, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be sons-in-law, Major Ronald Lutz USAF, RMCS (USN Ret), Michael Nichols, ABEC, George Gonzales, USNR, Marshall Vickers, Ted Strabley and Geno Luciani. Chavez -- Ramon E. Chavez, 82, a resident of Bosque, NM, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 1998. He was a member of the Catholic Church. Ramon was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served his country during World War II. Ramon was preceded in death by his eight brothers and sisters. He is survived by one sister, Bernardita Gutierrez of Casa Colorada, NM. Ramon is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held on Monday, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Romero Funeral Home, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at the Cristo Rey Catholic Church in Bosque, NM. Clark -- Kimberly Ann Clark, 35, beloved daughter, wife and mother, has gone to be with our Lord on September 29, 1989. She was preceded in death by her father, W. R. (Bob) Clark. She is survived by her mother, Alma Clark; her three daughters, Krystal and Angela Walton, and Violet Soto; and brothers, William Robert (R. C.) Clark and Ronald Alan Clark and wife, Renetta. She will be sorely missed by her niece, Shenna Clark; nephew, Zachery Clark; and by Hector Soto, Charles Walton, Ernest Fooz, Deyoe Young-Stark; and many others. Kim was born on December 21, 1962, in Amarillo, Texas and moved to Albuquerque in 1968. Garcia -- Josie E. Garcia died on October 4, 1998. She is survived by her daughter, Anna Garcia of the home; sons, Fred Garcia and wife, Della of Albuquerque, Anthony Garcia and Josie Garcia and Roger Cruz and wife, Amelia; grandchildren, Maryanne, Melissa, Fred, Jerry, Anthony, Andrea, Francis, Roger, Vincent, Raymond and Eddie. She is also survived by two sisters; Ursinia Martinez of Tucumcari and Stella Moya of Albuquerque. She has been taken to Tucumcari where she will be buried. Gurule -- Margaret A. Gurule, 67, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister, was called home to be with the Lord Saturday, October 3, 1998. She was born on June 10, 1931 in Corpus Christi, TX, daughter of Jose and Felipa Alvarado; she was a resident of Los Lunas and a parishioner of San Clemente Catholic Church in Los Lunas. She is survived by her loving husband, Felix A. Gurule, Sr. of the family home; two sons, Felix A. Gurule, Jr. and his wife, Julie, Jose A. Gurule; three daughters, Adele Thompson and husband, Gene, Dolores M. Duran and husband, Ray, Sonja M. Griffin and husband, Richard; eight grandchildren, Jonelle Armijo and husband, Gerald, Edwin Thompson, Naithan Gurule, Jon Gurule, Kyle Gurule, Jose Navarette, Elisa Gurule and Maria Duran; one great-grandchild, Ashley Thompson Armijo. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Horan -- Francis Logan Horan, 83, a resident of Albuquerque, died unexpectedly and peacefully Saturday, October 3, 1998, rejoining his wife, Mary Alma O'Brien Horan. He is survived and lives on in his sister, Marty Wentz of Albuquerque, widow of Colonel R. R. Wentz; daughter, Beth of Albuquerque; sons, Jim of Boston, MA, Tom of Albuquerque; and daughter-in-law Kit of Albuquerque. His grandchildren are, Jenifer Horan, Jeffrey Horan, Rebecca Horan-Rosato, Lawrence Horan, Peter Horan, Francis Logan Horan II, and Mary Angela Horan-Stephenson. Frank Horan was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; brothers, John and Thomas; and sister, Agnes. Frank Horan moved to New Mexico in 1942 after graduating from the University of Colorado School of Law, and began his law practice then in Albuquerque. Mr. Horan was the Albuquerque City Attorney from 1954-1978. He was a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives from 1978-1982. Hudson -- Helen Hudson, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, died Sunday, October 4, 1998. She is survived by her daughter, Tylena J. Harrison and husband, Johnny L. of Albuquerque; son, Jim H. Hudson; granddaughter, Kayla Dawn Hudson; two grandsons, Jerry L. Harrison and Justin L. Harrison; several nieces and nephews; and in-laws, Velma Wilkens of Bloomington, IN, Carl Hudson and wife, Evelyn of Paxton, IL, Norman Hudson and wife, Lorraine of Kansas City, KS and Truman Hudson and wife, Elizabeth of Solsberry, IN. Mrs. Hudson was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert G. Hudson on March 3, 1986; mother, Minnie Bullock; father, Freel Bullock; three sisters; and three brothers. Helen Evangeline Bullock was born January 11, 1916 in Salsberry, IN. Mrs. Hudson married Herbert G. Hudson on July 2, 1938. Mr. and Mrs. Hudson moved to Albuquerque in 1957 and resided at the same home since 1958. She was very active in church work at Ridgecrest Christian Church for many years until her health prevented it. Mrs. Hudson enjoyed cooking, crocheting, sewing and helping others as she could. She also had a great sense of humor and passed that on to us. Although she did not belong to any civic organization, Mrs. Hudson was always there with a helping hand one way or another. Memorial services will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at Ridgecrest Christian Church, 5300 Eastern Ave. SE, with Rev. Ken Kady and Rev. Larry Pierson officiating. Miera -- Adela Trujillo Miera, of Santa Fe, died on Monday, October 5, 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband, Del Miera in 1974; son, Ronald Miera in 1984; and brothers, Genaro, Flavio and Concepcion Trujillo. Adela was born in Chimayo to Severiano and Senaida Ortega Trujillo, who also preceded her in death. She and her husband, Del, were successful owners of the Del Miera Insurance Agency, which they ran for over 40 years. She was a member of St. Francis Cathedral Parish, The Altar Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of America, Little Flower Reading Circle, and Sociedad Folklorico. Adela will be remembered for her strong faith and love of God; her devotion to and love for her husband, Del, her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. Her joy, peace and love have enriched all of their lives. Oetinger -- Constance Ruth Oetinger, 66, of Normal, Illinois, died at 4:00 p.m., October 3, 1998, at her daughter's home in Normal. The graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 10, 1998, in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas. A memorial also will be held October 13, 1998 in the afternoon at Walter and Frances Haussamen's in Albuquerque. Arrangements are by Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, IL. She was born April 24, 1932 in Sterling, Colorado, the daughter of David E. and Eleanor M. Ramsey Park. She married Walter Lee Oetinger in 1960 in Albuquerque. He died in 1971. Surviving is one daughter, Aleda Diggins, with whom she made her home; one son, Douglas Lee Oetinger of Chicago, IL; one sister, Frances Haussamen of Albuquerque; two brothers, David E. Park, Jr. of Truth or Consequences, NM and William Park of Spring, TX. Mrs. Oetinger served most recently as Chief Executive Officer of Lincolnland Visiting Nurse Association in Mattoon, IL, and previously held administrative positions within the home health field in the following locations: Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Louisiana, and Texas. She held a diploma in Nursing from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Denver. CO. While raising her children as a widow, Mrs. Oetinger obtained a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and a Master's degree in Political Science, both from Wichita State University. In 1975, she was honored to be the first woman elected to the city council in Hesston, Kansas, serving until 1981. Seim -- Rudd G. Seim, 75, died early Saturday morning, October 3, at St. Joseph Rehabilitation Center, after losing a valiant struggle with cancer. Upon the death of his wife, Mary Jane Ray, Rudd took an early retirement as Vice President of Pacific Molasses, and in 1986 moved to New Mexico from New Orleans. Rudd was born in Chicago on May 23, 1923. He graduated from North Texas State University and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater. Before joining Pacific Molasses, he worked as an executive for Continental EMSCO. After retirement, he was a volunteer with SCORE and numerous other service organizations such as the Widowed Person's Service. He was active in the Immanuel Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder on the Session. He is survived by the families of his two sons (Richard and David Seim) and two daughters (Carolyn Quinn and Julie Guth) who collectively blessed him with seven grandchildren. He is also survived by the family of his brother, Norman and wife, Marcia Seim of Albuquerque and the family of his sister, Barbara and Mark Campbell of Dallas, TX. A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, October 6, 2:00 p.m., at Immanuel Presbyterian Church at Carlisle and Central. Thompson -- Elsa Smith Thompson died August 25, 1998 in a local care center. She was a longtime resident of Albuquerque and loved New Mexico. She was a librarian in several library systems in Albuquerque, but spent most of her career with the Albuquerque City Libraries. Mrs. Thompson was born May 4, 1898, in Chicago, IL. She was married to Robert L. Thompson, who is deceased. She is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. No services were held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Albuquerque City Libraries.

Trujillo -- Mrs. Josephine O. Trujillo, 77, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her loving family on October 5, 1998. Mrs. Trujillo was the beloved mother of four daughters, Martha Trujillo, Christina Coffelt, Veronica Gallegos and husband, Albert and Frances Trujillo; four sons, Avilio Trujillo, Vince Trujillo and wife, Val, Paul Trujillo, and Alex Trujillo and wife, Audrey. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephew, and other family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Juan G. Trujillo; sister, Maggie Rose; and two grandsons, John Eric and Dominic. Mrs. Trujillo was a member of the Catholic Church, retired after 20 years with New Mexico Industries for the Blind. Walter -- Georgia McClure Walter, age 84, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday in a local nursing home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer H. Walter. Zolman -- Florence Mildred McNay Zolman, age 82, a longtime resident of Albuquerque since July 4, 1948, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 1998. She was born February 24, 1916 to Kearney K. McNay and Mable Otilie Frost in Moline, Illinois. She was married to Linn T. Zolman on August 21, 1935 in Colorado Springs, CO who preceded her in death in 1977. Sciacca of Trinidad, CO and James Michael Zolman of Dulce, NM; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Constance Gibson and Norma Colglazier along with many other family and dear friends. She was a member of Valley Christian Church, Albuquerque, NM. She was proud of her many accomplishments, including the time she changed a tire on a three-quarter ton truck without a jack! She enjoyed an active life participating in various family activities from rodeos to chili cook-offs. She was always willing, ready and able to lend a hand in the endeavors of others when help was needed. Her door was always open to friends and the coffee pot was always on. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Services are pending and will be announced at a later date by Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE. .DMP
