Andrews -- Sherman E. (Andy) Andrews, 73, a resident of Albuquerque for 35 years, died on Sunday, October 4, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Mary S. Andrews of Albuquerque; son, William S. Andrews of Albuquerque; daughter, Sharon M. Andrews of La Porte, TX; sister-in-law, Sarah Andrews of Monterrey, CA; and brother-in-law, Thomas Cunningham of London, England. Mr. Andrews retired from the U.S.A.F. in 1961 after 21 years of service, having served with the 3rd U.S. Cavalry and later in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in action during World War II. Mr. Andrews served as Lt. Col. in the New Mexico State Defense Force. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #68, and lifetime member of the Eugene P. Long #32 D.A.V. Chapter in Albuquerque. After his military, he worked for the City of Albuquerque as an Animal Control Officer. Services will be held Wednesday, October 7, 1998, 9:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas NE. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Pallbearers will be Honorable Judge Neil Candelaria, William Andrews, Thomas Cunningham, Tony Candelaria, Robert Turner, and Rick Landholm. French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.
