Segura -- Connie Segura, 64, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister was called home to be with the Lord our Savior, Thursday, October 18, 2001, while surrounded by her loving family; after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Alameda and was a resident of Rio Rancho; she was a member of the S.N.M. De M.P., No. 2 of Alameda, NM, and of the American Legion Post #69 Auxiliary; and enjoyed music and dancing. Connie is survived by her loving husband, Cruz M. Segura of the family home; seven sons, Clyde and wife, Mary, Rudy, Donald, Steve and wife, Diane all of Alameda, Geno, Ronald and Johnny all of Rio Rancho; three daughters, Maria Mcneely, Hendrietta Lucero, and Grace Rivera and husband, Daniel all of Rio Rancho; 26 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Survivors also include, Connie's mother, Eva Gurule; three brothers, Bobby Gurule, Charlie Gurule and Gilbert Gurule all of Alameda; three sisters, Lydia Baca and husband, Albert, Kathy Garcia and Flossie Martinez and husband, Richard all of Alameda; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives; and a host of friends. Connie will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those who knew and loved her. Visitations will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Final viewing will be Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Connie's sons, Clyde, Geno, Rudy, Donald, Ronald, and Steve Segura. Honorary bearers will be John Segura and Daniel Rivera. Valencia -- Lucy Valencia, 70, beloved and devoted, mother and grandmother was called home to be with the Lord our Savior, Tuesday, October 16, 2001. Lucy was born in Ponderosa, NM to the late Transito and Perfectita Mirabal; she was a resident of Bernalillo; and a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Connie and Sonny Mirabal; two grandsons, Josiah Agapito Robertson III and Christopher Lovato; and a sister, Barbara Trujillo. She is survived by her loving children, Mary Aragon and husband, John, Arlene Sisneros and husband, Justin both of Bernalillo, Pat Moncado and husband, Tony of Alamogordo, Gloria Tapia and husband, Fernandez of Flagstaff, AZ, Becky Gonzales and husband, Chris of San Juan, NM, Agapito Valencia Jr. and wife, Elaine of Rio Rancho and Delfina Lujan and husband, Johnny of Albuquerque; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Survivors also include eight sisters, Ruth Goitia and husband, Charlie of Tucson, AZ, Romie Marquez, Virgie Cordova, Tillie Tenorio and husband, Rudy all of Bernalillo, Angelina Schwerkoske and husband, John, Helen Miller both of Albuquerque, Patty Espinoza and husband, Richard of Corrales, and Jeanette Lopez and husband, Jim of Belen; three brothers, Rey Mirabal and wife, Sandra of Las Cruces, NM, Pete Martinez of Bernalillo, and Jerry Martinez and wife Nora, of Placitas, NM; numerous other relatives and friends. Aragon -- John (TaTa) Aragon, born August 26, 1922 in Montoya, New Mexico passed away June 9, 2001 one week after his partner for 62 years, Lillian passed away. Tata passed away after a long battle with Parkinson's. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lillian; daughter's Mary Lillian Aragon Garcia, Evangeline Aragon, his parents, Jose Piedad Aragon, Apolinara Aragon, brothers, Benito, Charlie, Joe Aragon, sisters, Carmen Montoya and Corrine Baca. He is survived by sons, John and wife, Agnes and Eddy and wife, Frances; grandchildren, Randy Garcia, Joe (Dino) Garcia, Jamie Aragon, Mary Lillian Aragon, and fiance, Leonard Sanchez, Edward Aragon, Jr. and finance, Jessica Ramos, Antoinette Trujillo and husband, Nathan, Jimmy Lopez, Annette Martinez and husband Danny; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucy Salas, Selsa Chavez and husband, Margarito, Celina Rivera and husband, Frank, Mary Jane Alire and husband, Casey; brothers, Mike Aragon and wife, Theo, Florencio Aragon and wife, Carmen, Raymond Aragon and wife, Margie, Rudy Aragon and many nieces and nephews. Tata, worked hard from the time he was 10 years old. He had to work to help support his brothers and sisters. He would take care of sheep all alone in the Mountains. Worked for the WPA with a fake ID when he was 16. When his country called he went leaving behind his pregnant wife. He was in the 7th Army, 106th Infantry in France and Germany, where he was wounded. When he came home he worked various jobs. Until he went to work as an Ironworker for Local #495 he retired in 1975 with 32 years as an Ironworker. Like many of the Greatest Generation, Family was not only first it was everything. He loved to cook, especially breakfast on Sunday mornings after church when he would make tortillas, eggs and chile. John and Lillian were always together until his Parkinson's got so bad that he had to stay with his sons. He was a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Charles, the 40 & 8, and VFW #401. His patience, compassion and love for those around him will never be forgotten. Dad, Tata we will miss you and think of you always. When people ask us who was the Greatest Person they have known those who knew you will say Juan Aragon, for your love & kindness, and courage. Service arrangements are pending and will be announced. Pallbearers: Eddy Aragon Jr., Jamie Aragon, Nathan Trujillo, Mike Aragon Jr., Dean Garcia, Randy Garcia, Jimmy Lopez. Ortega -- Lorencita (Lita) Salas Ortega passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2001 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born March 18, 1923 to Lorenzo and Navora Vallejos Salas in Quemado, NM. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughters, Magdalena and Zenaida, son, Richard, grandson, Jose (Peto) Baca and granddaughter, Maria Rivera. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Julian P. Ortega; eight children, Corene Torres and husband, Frank, Reynaldo F. Ortega and wife, Flora, Rudy Ortega and wife, Sylvia, Julian Ortega Jr. and wife, Evelyn, Laura Flores and husband, Anastacio, Marlene Rivera and husband, Jeremia, Lorenzo and Gregorio Ortega; brother, Joaquin Salas and wife, Frances and Ramon Salas and wife, Bertha. She is also survived by Mela Candelaria, Paul Madril Jr., Gilbert Minitrez and Epifano Peralta, whom she raised; 27 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. Rosary was recited on Friday, February 23, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at the San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, February 24, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at San Miguel with Father Bill Sanchez as Celebrant. Interment was in the Socorro Cemetery. Pallbearers were B. Antonio Lucero Jr. Leonard Lucero, Reynaldo M. Ortega II, Aresenio S. Ortega II, Damian T. Ortega and Joey Ortega. Rivera -- Lucilla Rivera, 87, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away February 22, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Meliton Rivera, son, Elias Rivera, grandsons, Leroy Flores and Thomas Vigil. She is survived by sister, Clara Ortiz; five daughters, and four sons, Aurora Flores and spouse, Amador Flores, Stefie Flores, Gloria Vigil, Chris Rivera and spouse, Becky Rivera, Mary (Rivera) Flores, Frank Rivera, Grace Miretti and spouse, Steve Miretti, Rudy Rivera and spouse, Louise Rivera, Timoteo Rivera, Rose Garcia and spouse, Fidel Garcia; 46 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends who loved and will miss her. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, and cook for the San Miguel County Schools. Services will be held at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2001. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, February 25, 2001, brief Prayer Service at San Jose Catholic Church in San Jose, NM, with burial to follow. Salas -- Leonor Salas, age 79, passed away on September 21, 2000 at home with her loving family at her side. She is survived by her children, Angie and husband, Albert Sisneros, Eliseo Padilla, Melba and husband, Bernie Rivera, Therese Padilla, Benny Salas and wife, Sandy, Anthony and Chema Salas, and Dolores Salas and husband, Rudy Martinez; grandchildren include Stephanie, Irene, Marvin, Steve, Annette, Suzanne, Joanne, Patrick, Lisa, Alexandria, Raymond, Ben, Jessica, Victor, Kim, Kristine and Julian. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren. Since 1977 until 1990, when she moved to Edgewood, Leonor was active in church activities and organizations such as the Sacred Heart League. Her devotion to her religious convictions kept her active in her church until her death. Our beloved mother and grandmother will continue in our thoughts until we meet again. Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on September 23 and 24, at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on September 25. Abeyta -- Mrs. Estella G. Abeyta, 90, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her loving family. Mrs. Abeyta was the beloved mother of five daughters, Frances Padilla, Dorothy Abeyta, Mary Montoya and husband, Rudy, Nellie Padilla and Victoria Sierra and John Sr.; one son, Triny Montoya and wife, Ramona. She is also survived by her brother, Severo Gonzalez and wife, Betty; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Abeyta was a member of the Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW, with visitation after 6:30 p.m. Roberto Montoya and Margie Ulibarri, reciting. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Peralta with final viewing at the church after 8:30 a.m. Father Albert Gallegos, Celebrant.
