Aragon -- David A. Aragon, 47, a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend and a resident of Albuquerque since 1973, died Sunday, October 14, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Rose Aragon; daughter, Joslynn Aragon and significant other, Nic DeHerrera; son, Antonio Aragon, all of Albuquerque; parents, Rafael and Pauline Aragon of Santa Fe, NM; brothers, Leroy Aragon and finance, Grace of LaMessilla, NM, Michael Aragon and wife, Sylvia of Pecos, NM, Ralph Aragon and wife, Anna of Albuquerque and Peter Aragon and finance, Carmela of Santa Fe; sisters-in-law, Diana Rivera and husband, Floyd and Elizabeth Lovato and husband, Jerry, all of Santa Fe; his dog, Noche; and numerous relatives, friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Pete and Erlinda Sandoval. David loved hunting, fishing and the Denver Broncos. David was deeply loved by family and friends and he will be greatly missed by all. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 11:00 a.m., at Aquinas Newman Center, 1815 Las Lomas NE, with Father Bob Keller, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Berry -- Woodrow Weldon Berry, 84, was born January 28, 1917 in St. Jo, TX and passed away October 12, 2001 in Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgie M. and D. C. Berry, Sr.; two brothers; and two sisters. He is survived by four nephews; three nieces; several great-nieces and nephews and many great and good friends. Weldon served his country in the Navy during WWII in Mexico and the Philippines. He worked for the war dept. prior to the war. Weldon has made NM his home for most of his adult life. He is a past member of the Farmington, NM Board of Education; past President of the San Juan Knife and Fork Club; San Juan Community Concert Assoc. and past President of the American Savings and Loan Institute, Albuquerque Chapter. He was very active in local watercolor groups and had won numerous awards. His watercolors hang in private collections around the country. Further, he was active in the Albuquerque Little Theatre; the Washington, DC Civic Theatre and the Washington Light Opera Co. Weldon was baptized and confirmed at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Washington DC. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service and interment will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 North Guadalupe St., Santa Fe, NM on Friday, October 19, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc. or to the Bear Creek Senior Citizen Center. Britton -- Patricia Ann "Pat" Britton passed away and went to be with the Lord on October 15, 2001. Pat was born April 12, 1944 in Douglas, AZ. She is survived by her husband of 14 years, Robert Guy Britton; her parents, Lloyd and Betty Langley; her sister, Jo Lynn Williams; her daughter, Renee Santiago; her stepdaughters, Kathy Lobato and Susan Comeau; and stepson, Rodney Greg Knighter; her niece, Kimberlee Lockhart; her grand-nephew, Henry Lockhart; her granddaughter, Micah Lobato; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins. Pat is now joined with her brother, Robert Langley, who crossed over August of 1989 and two of her best friends, Edith and Gail. Pat was known as a compassionate and caring person and had a heart of gold. Pat was a dog groomer for over 30 years and later in her life raised cockatiels. Pat adored animals and took in any stray animal that passed her way. Pat was known as a straight shooter and never minced her words, but would give you the shirt off her back. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations to be made in her name to the Animal Humane Assoc. of NM, 615 Virginia, SE, 87108. A viewing will take place on Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at Sandia Funeral Home at 3:30 p.m. 7601 Wyoming NE after which cremation will take place.

Garcia -- Gloria Garcia, 53, passed away October 16, 2001 at home surrounded by her loving family. A native New Mexican, she lived in Albuquerque, and will be remembered as a loving companion, mother, daughter, grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her son Andrew Valles and is survived by her longtime companion Juan Valles; children Yvette DeBlassie and husband Russell, Yvonne Garcia, and Jonathan Valles; grandchildren Jerry Padilla III, Joseph Padilla, Brandon Garcia, Brandi Garcia, Hillary, Andrew, and Naomi DeBlassie; mother Della Crespin; brother Gregario Crespin Jr., and numerous other family and friends who loved and will miss her. Hensley -- Bertha Mae Hensley, 96, a resident of Moriarty, NM since 1967, formally of Edgewood, NM, passed away Tuesday October 16, 2001 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born March 3, 1905 in Parsons, TN, to Thadeous and Nora (Morgan) Hill. She Married Ernest Hensley March 3, 1927, he preceded her in death in 1947. Mrs. Hensley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Moriarty. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend. Mrs. Hensley is survived by two sons, Robert Hensley of Moriarty, NM, and George Hensley of Carlsbad, NM; special niece, JoAnn Willison of Grand Junction, CO; three sisters, Edna Wright of Albuquerque, NM, Ruth Hill of Edgewood, NM and Allie Langcaster of Bemis, TN; six grand children; 13 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. A visitation will be held Thursday October 18,2001 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at The Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty, NM. Hershey -- Mildred Fearn Hershey, 93, a resident of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord Sunday, October 14, 2001. She is survived by sons, John "Jack" Thomas Hershey of Tucson, AZ, Terry Lee Hershey and wife, Kathleen of Valencia, CA and Howard Alan Hershey and wife, Anne of Red Oak, VA; daughter, Cathy Darlynn Bunch and husband, David of Rio Rancho; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John Houck Hershey; brothers, Raymond Partlow and Mason Partlow. Mildred was a 1931 class graduate of St. Thomas College School of Nursing. Upon graduation she worked as an obstetric nurse, and then moved on to a lifelong career of providing loving care for the children of others in her home until retiring in her early 80s. Mildred was a great cook, an accomplished seamstress, a gardner of note and a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Las Cruces, NM. Morris -- Margaret (Peggy) L. Morris, 76, passed away October 2, 2001 at her residence in Roswell, NM. Margaret was born June 15, 1925 in Amarillo, TX to Warren Boyd and Annie Maude Martin Boyd, but she spent her childhood in the Roswell area. Her parents preceded her in death. While married to William A. Morris, a Senior Master Sergenat in the United States Air Force, she lived overseas in Germany and Japan. Margaret enjoyed travel and had a great desire to expand her knowledge on many different subjects. After her divorce in 1967, she moved to Santa Fe. She worked as an NCIC and radio operator for the New Mexico State Police. Five years later she transferred to Roswell where she lived for 30 years. After she retired, she worked as a dorm-mother at Eastern New Mexico University at Roswell. Margaret loved to paint western scenes from her childhood in oil or watercolor and was an avid reader her entire life. Her abundant curiosity and love of life will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Margaret is survived by her four children, Charles E. Morris of Santa Fe, NM, and William B. Morris of Morro Bay, CA, Christine A. Lyon of Park City, UT, Rita D. Morris of Albuquerque; her brother, Martin Boyd of Lubbock, TX.; and six grandchildren. A family directed Graveside Ceremony will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2001 at the South Park Cemetery in Roswell. Morrish -- Elaine Morrish, 75, a lifetime resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, October 13, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Sidney of the family home; daughters, Kimberly A. Wynn of Tucson, AZ and Marry B. Morrish of Phoenix, AZ; son, Thomas Morrish of Silver City, NM; and sister, Joy Ann Webster of Albuquerque. Elaine was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Tucson, AZ, a member of First Presbyterian Church, and a Charter Member and 1st Vice President of the American Business Association (ABWA). During portions of each year, she lived in Tucson, AZ at the Voyager RV Resort. Richards -- Mrs. Sue Richards, 90, of Phoenix Arizona and a life long resident of Albuquerque peacefully met her God on October 12, 2001. Sue, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend was born May 22, 1911 in Albuquerque. Sue was preceded in death by her husband Bill of 59 years; a daughter, Emilly; and a son, John. She is survived by two sons, Tony and wife, Rose of Phoenix, Arizona, Bill and wife, Carmen of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; two sisters, Dolores Stenzel of Hemet, California and Cecelia Montano of Albuquerque; 11 grandchildren; 23 great[-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and friends. Sue was a homemaker and very much enjoyed cooking, her church and her puzzles. Sue will always be remembered for her kindness and goodness. Her family and everyone who knew her will miss her very much. Sue was a member of the Catholic Church. Visitation will be Thursday evening after 6:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Deacon Harry Beare. A Final Visitation will be Friday morning after 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos NW with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. by Father Ramon Aragon. Smith -- Rebecca Jordan Smith passed away after a short illness on October 6, 2001 at Four Corners Health Care Center in Durango, Colorado. She was 86. She was born in Hillsborough, North Carolina, on January 3, 1915. She grew up in Chapel Hill, where her father was in the tobacco business. She graduated from the University of North Carolina with a degree in Sociology. Through her lifelong interest in music, she met Sherman E. Smith, a chemistry professor at UNC. They were married on December 21, 1938. He preceded her in death on October 4, 1973. In 1945, Sherman accepted a position as Chairman of the Chemistry Department at the University of New Mexico and Sherman and Becky moved to Albuquerque. They immediately became active in university, civic and music organizations. The home they built in 1953 became a center of entertainment for visiting celebrities and dignitaries. Becky was active in the Faculty Women's Club, the League of Women Voters, the Junior League, the June Music Festival, the Albuquerque Civic Symphony and the Santa Fe Opera Board. In 1989, for the UNM Centennial, she served on the Compadres, a group of retired professors and spouses, and enjoyed many events associated with the Centennial. Her sense of fun and warm loving spirit will be greatly missed by her friends and family. She is survived by her sons Burton Smith, and his wife, Dottie, of Seattle, Washington, and David Smith, and his wife, Nancy, of Durango, Colorado. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Tracy Madler of Prescott Valley, Arizona, Christy Duke of Durango, Colorado, Adam Smith of Durango, Colorado, Katherine Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Julia Smith of Brooklyn, New York; as well as five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Heidi and Hannah Madler and Tatum and Ellie Duke. Gifts in Becky's memory may be made to the UNM Foundation, Inc., Two Woodward Center, 700 Lomas Blvd. NE, Albuquerque 87131, for scholarships. Services will be private.

Spahr -- Harold R. Spahr, Jr., 66, a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, died Tuesday, October 16, 2001 in Albuquerque. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Pricilla Spahr; sons, Russell Spahr and wife, Doreen, and Steven Spahr, all of Albuquerque; two grandsons, Tyler and Trevor. Mr. Spahr was employed at Sandia National Laboratories for over 40 years, starting in 1957 as an aeronautical engineer. Harold loved fishing, biking, working, and rebuilding computers. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Valencia -- Lucy Valencia, 70, beloved and devoted, mother and grandmother was called home to be with the Lord our Savior, Tuesday, October 16, 2001. Lucy was born in Ponderosa, NM to the late Transito and Perfectita Mirabal; she was a resident of Bernalillo; and a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Connie and Sonny Mirabal; two grandsons, Josiah Agapito Robertson III and Christopher Lovato; and a sister, Barbara Trujillo. She is survived by her loving children, Mary Aragon and husband John, Arlene Sisneros and husband Justin both of Bernalillo, Pat Moncado and husband Tony of Alamogordo, Gloria Tapia and husband Fernandez of Flagstaff, AZ, Becky Gonzales and husband Chris of San Juan, NM, Agapito Valencia Jr. and wife Elaine of Rio Rancho and Delfina Lujan and husband Johnny of Albuquerque; 16 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. Lucy will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those who knew and loved her. Visitations will be Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A rosary will be recited Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Santuario de San Lorenzo Church in Bernalillo. Final viewing will be Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church; followed by Mass of Christian burial which will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Wilson -- Edward Wilson, 81, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away October 17, 2001 at a local hospital. He is survived by his wife, Claudia of the family home; two sons, Darrell and Clarence; a daughter, Lena; daughter, Dorothy J. Baysinger; four grandchildren, Keiosha, Karena, Kylan and Keyana; and other grandchildren; host of nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and dear friends. Visitation will be Friday, October 19, 2001, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 20, 2001, 1:00 p.m., at Shiloh Baptist Church, 608 Avenida Cesar Chavez SE, with Pastor David Walker officiating. Woods -- Lowell G."Woody" Woods, 92, a resident of Albuquerque since 1960, died Sunday, October 14, 2001. He is survived by his son, Richard L. Woods and wife Barbara of Tucson, AZ; two daughters, Joan Chapel and her husband, William, and Jean Armijo, all of Albuquerque; five grandchildren, Jennifer Bliss and her husband, John, Jeffrey Woods and wife, Lisa, Lowell Conley and wife, Stacey, Sharon Chapel, and Cathy Chapel-Copher and her husband, David; six great-grandchildren, David, Alexis, Matthew, C.J., Sean and Katheryn Helen; brother, Parker J. Woods and wife, Lucille and sister-in-law, Marjorie McVicker. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Helen; sisters, Antonette, Nell, Dorothy and Velis; and one brother, Francis. Mr. Woods was a graduate of Utah State University. He worked for 40 years with the USDA Forest Service and his assignments included working in the Western United States and Washington, D.C. Mr. Woods retired as Director of the Watershed Management, Southwest Region in 1969. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Rotary Club and the Lions Club. Mr. Woods was also a member of the Society For Range Management. Gardening, fishing and golfing kept him in the outdoors he loved so much. Mr. Woods was a grand storyteller and a true gentlemen. Services will be held Thursday, October 18, 2001, at 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE.
