CARATTINI -- Julio M. Carattini, II, loving husband to Violet Carattini who passed away in November 2003, and best friend and mentor to his son, Julio M. Carattini III, passed away at the V.A. Regional Medical Center on Monday, June 21, 2004. Julio II is survived by Julio III and his wife, Patricia, Julio IV and his wife, Deja, Julio V, Jennifer Lyons and her husband, David Lyons; and four great-grandchildren. In his kind way, he accepted Donna Boyer and Janet Anza into his household to raise and provide guidance and direction. Julio II, an Army Infantry Officer, served his country in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. A true patriot, he always instilled into his son the meaning of Courage, Integrity, and Honor and to this day it has made his son a better person. His sisters, Mary Carattini, Emma Malave, Didi Santini and Hilda Carattini will miss their baby brother. Albert Malave and Nicolas Santini, his brothers-in-law will miss him as a brother. Julio II was born in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, on June 30, 1921, to Italian and Spanish ancestry. His parents, Julio M. Carattini, I, and his mother, Amparo Padro Carattini, could not have been prouder of their son. He grew up on a farm and enjoyed his long walks to school with his sister, Emma. His long horseback rides to the coast with his father were always a fond memory to him. Julio II was fortunate in having four sisters that loved him as much as he loved them. He was truly blessed with the love of his parents, sisters, son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Julio II and Violet were together for 63 years and to the end they walked around holding hands. My father always told me that the secret to a great marriage was not to go to bed angry. Always kiss your spouse before going to sleep. Now they are together again and I thank God for the kindness he showed in letting my parents get back together for eternity.
