ALIRES -- Eloisa Lucero Alires, 96, a longtime resident of Albuquerque died Thursday, June 17, 2004. She was born January 21, 1908 in the community of La Joya near Pecos, NM. She was married to Patrick Alires who preceded her in death in 1950. She is survived by two sisters, Ramona Gonzales and husband Solomon; Florence Lucero; daughter, Patricia Alires Martin, Dorothy K. Holland; son, Tom Alires and wife, Lorraine all of Albuquerque; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A Memorial Rosary Service will be held Friday, June 25, 2004, 6:00 p.m. at French Mortuary Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE with Deacon Fabian Gagnon officiating. CARRICO -- Lois Wiley Carrico, native and lifelong resident of Albuquerque left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior on June 10, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Tom Wiley and Beulah Wiley. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lois Lorraine Carrico. Lois is survived by her husband, Bob Carrico; daughter, Sandra Tolman and husband, Frank; son, Monty Carrico and wife, Lucy; grandchildren include Ryan and Brent Tolman, Michael and Sarah Carrico; sister, Helen Sentency and husband, Paul; nephews, Rick and Doug Sentency; uncle, Lloyd Wiley; and sisters-in-law, Blanche Trent and Fern Crackel; nieces include Lana Finley, Cheryl Thompson and Darlene Harwell; cousins, Darla Newell and Donna Mannon. The nature of Lois was always happy. She was always the first to speak, the first to smile and the first to lend a helping hand. Her Christian love flowed to every living thing and because of this she leaves behind many close and cherished friends. To her husband, she was a spiritual inspiration and a loving wife, she was a wonderful mother whose children were always very close to her and will miss her dearly. Her grandchildren will always cherish every moment spent with her. A Private Farewell will be given in her honor. Thank you so much for your love, prayers and concern at this time.

CURTIN -- Lawrence R. Curtin, Chief Warrant Officer, U.S. Army retired, of 1805 Paige Drive, Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away quietly on June 15, 2004 at the age of 87. Mr. Curtin was a loving husband, a devoted, caring father, grandfather, great-grandfather and one of America's "Greatest Generation". Mr. Curtin grew up in Grand Island, NE, entering the U.S. Army in February of 1936, serving as a private soldier in C Company, 17th Regiment of Infantry at Camp Crook, NE. Throughout World War II, he served as 1st Sergeant, Company F, 168th Infantry Regiment, 34th Infantry Division, known as the Red Bulls. He served in both the Mediterranean and European Theater of Operations, making combat lands in both Anzio beachheads in Italy and in the invasion of Southern France. During these Campaigns, 1st Sergeant Curtin received the coveted Combat Infantrymen's Badge (CIB) and the Bronze Star for "valorous conduct in ground combat against the armed enemy". At the outbreak of the Korean Conflict, 1st Sergeant Curtin's Infantry unit was one of the first units deployed to support U.N. Forces on the Korean peninsula, where he remained until the end of the conflict. He was again awarded the Combat Infantrymen's Badge and both the Korean and U.N. Service Medals. At the end of the Korean Conflict, 1st Sergeant Curtin was promoted to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer and served the remainder of the twenty-six year military career as a Counter-Intelligence agent, retiring from Head Quarters, 5th U.S. Army Corps, at Ft. Hood, TX in February 1963. Lawrence will be remembered by his two daughters, Patty and Mickey; his three sons, Johnny, Larry and Jimmy; his six grandchildren; and his four great-grandchildren as a gentle, caring, loving man - a man of great strength, who believed, above all other things - devotion to family. For over 60 years, he was the central guiding force of his family, who taught by example. He will be greatly missed by all. DAUSSES -- Ruth Minnie Dausses, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away peacefully at her home, with her family at her side, on Wednesday, June 16, 2004. She was born on December 4, 1913 in Chicago, Illinois to Arthur and Elsie Zander Soldwisch. Ruth spent her career caring for her husband and children. Ruth was a member of St. Timothy's Lutheran Church where she taught kindergarten. She received her M.A. in music on piano from the University of Chicago Conservancy and spent many years as a piano teacher. She was the past chairperson of the State of New Mexico Lutheran Church Women. Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank. She is survived by her children, Richard and wife, Katherine of Rio Rancho, William F. and wife Charlotte of Bartlesville, OK. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brian Robert Dausses and wife, A.J. of New Braunfels, TX, Dawn Amdor and husband, Matt of Albuquerque, Lynn Hawley and husband, Grady, of Overland Park, KS, Brett Dausses and wife, Robin of Broken Arrow, Ok, and Brad Dausses, of Austin, TX; her great-great-grandchildren, Jason and Kyle Dausses, Ashley Amdor, Dylan and Nicholas Hawley. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at All Saints Lutheran Church with Rev. Phil Wineberg, officiating. EVERETT -- Kathleen Theresa Everett, 77, a resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004. She is survived by sons, Brian Everett and wife, Paula, of Tijeras, NM and Brandan Everett of Albuquerque; daughter, Maureen Rader and husband, Steve, of Albuquerque; ten grandchildren, Sabrina, Matthew, Rachel Carlton, Kathleen, and Daniel Everett, Christopher, Jennifer, Nicholas and Ross Rader; brothers, John Newell and wife, Nancy, of Allentown, MI and Patrick Newell and wife, Gloria, of Albuquerque; sisters, Maureen Johnston and husband, Terry, of FL and Rita Bagdon and husband, Edward, of Livonia, MI. Kathleen was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She touched the lives of everyone she met. Her love and knowledge of antiques led to her profession as an Antique Appraiser. Her business, Appraisal Associates, has been very successful for over 22 years. She was a long-standing member and an officer for the American Society of Appraisers. Kathleen was very proud of her Irish heritage and was an active member of the Irish American Society. GODFREY -- Gwyn Ellen Godfrey, passed to be with her wonderful Lord and Savior, at 3:35 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2004 with her family at her side. Gwyn was born in Enid, Oklahoma, to John and Mary Sherman, on July 1, 1929. Her passing leaves behind a host of family and friends. Her joy was to be in the kitchen cooking and baking for her family, especially during the holiday season. Her cinnamon rolls were the best. Even after she was no longer able to function, her hobby was reading every cooking magazine and cookbook she could get her hands on. Gwyn and her husband, Bill, were married in Enid, Oklahoma, on November 23, 1947. They would have been married for 57 years this November. The family would like to express deepest thanks to Dr. Fontana, Dr. Goldman, and the Quality Continuim Hospice for all their help and support during Gwyn's last difficult days. Surviving Gwyn is husband, Bill; two daughters, Melissa Ala and husband, Wally of Edgewood; Suzanne Conley of Rio Rancho; two sons, James and wife, Sue, Michael and wife, Pam, both of Albuquerque. There are seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers, Richard and wife, Helen of Enid, Oklahoma; Michael and wife, Deni of Simla, Colorado, and her sisters, Iris Hammond and husband, Larry of Midland, Texas and Pamela Sherman of Denver, Colorado. GOMEZ -- Rose Gomez, 74, a resident of Tome, passed away peacefully at her home on June 17, 2004. At the time of her death she was surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born on the 2nd of March, 1930 in Adelino, New Mexico. Rose was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome. She was kind, compassionate, caring and giving towards others. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, farming and ranching, but what she enjoyed most was being surrounded by her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Eliseo Gomez. She is survived by her sons, Edward Gomez, M.D., and wife, Beth of El Paso, Texas; Larry Gomez and wife, Dora of Adelino; Patrick Gomez, M.D., and wife, Marbie of El Paso, Texas; and Phillip Gomez of El Paso, Texas; daughter, Becky Baca of Los Alamos, New Mexico; grandchildren Lacy Houdek and Patrick Gomez, Adam and Thomas Gomez, Nicole, Antonio, Jessica, and Michael Gomez, and John and Miquela Baca; great-grandchildren Katie, McKenzie and Connor Houdek, and numerous sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and cousins. GONZALES -- John Joe Gonzales, 84, of Albuquerque died Thursday, June 17, 2004. Mr. Gonzales was born in Bernalillo, the son of Rafael Gonzales and Juanita Mirabal Gonzales on March 15, 1920. John is preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Gallegos Gonzales. He is survived by his son Benny Gonzales and wife, Ruth; 7 grandchildren, Ronald Gonzales, Charles Gonzales and wife, Patricia, Lawrence Gonzales and wife, Paula of Henderson, NV, Ludean Perkins, Julie Delgado and husband, Sam of Roswell, NM, Marie Garcia and husband, Juan, Silvia Trujillo of San Antonio, TX; 16 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. HURRY -- Minnie "Mimi" Hurry, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 In Albuquerque. Mimi was a member of the Methodist Faith and attended St. John's Methodist Church, Eastern Star Chapter Desert Rose # 70, La Mesa Court # 3, Order of the Amaranth. She was also the past Grand Guardian of the International Order of Jobs Daughters of New Mexico. Preceding her in death were her husband, Paul Hurry; one son, Harry Hurry; her parents; and one sister, Jessie Lois Brown. LENINGER -- Ellen F. Leninger, 64, departed for her eternal home on Sunday, June 13, 2004. Beloved wife of Bill; loving mother of Bill, Tony, Todd, Rene, and Dorene. LOCK -- Howard Bryant Lock. Howard was born on January 27, 1909 and died on June 15, 2004. He enjoyed his last two years in Albuquerque with his family and many new and also long-time friends. He liked to say he was a "true-Southerner", having been born on the South Side of Chicago. After spending his working life in the Chicago area, he retired to Hot Springs and then Little Rock, Arkansas before moving to Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Helen Lock. He is survived by his daughter Nancy J. Thompson of Brevard, North Carolina and her husband Richard and her children Jeffrey Paul Schreiber, Douglas Lock Schreiber, and Lisa Joy Baar; and his son William J. Lock of Albuquerque and his wife Judith M. Lock and their children Jennifer Susan Lock, Elizabeth Sarah Bunzel, Robert Bryant Lock, and John Mason Lock; and five great grandchildren. Howard knew his Savior Jesus Christ and was an active member of St. Mark's on-the-Mesa Episcopal Church in Albuquerque where a memorial service will be held Tuesday June 22, 2004 at 10am (431 Richmond Pl NE) to celebrate his life, Rev. LOPEZ -- Frank Lopez June 19, 1961-August 3, 2003 My Daddy's Now An Angel My daddy's now an angel, who comes to me at night. He tells me to be strong and brave, I tell him how my heart just aches. He tells me not to worry, he's always by my side. I tell him I just miss him and wish he hadn't died. He tells me he has talked to God and of their special plan, they've given me a job to do and I must follow through. They've asked me to remind my friends and all the Daddy's too, To say "I Love You" often and share a kiss goodnight. To keep each other close at heart and never to forget, we're given little blessings, so live with no regrets.I hope my Daddy's happy and dancing here tonight. I know that I just miss him and pray that he's alright. He says there's people watching, who smile and bow their heads, so if you ever wonder, thank God and hold on tight. RUTHERFORD -- Harry Otho Rutherford, 87, passed away at home Saturday, June 12, 2004 in El Paso, Texas. He was born on August 17, 1916 in Piedmont, Alabama. His mother was Pelham Pearl Dobson Rutherford and his father was Lee Fulton Rutherford. He served as pilot in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. His careers included 20 years with the Seaboard and Southern Pacific Railroads and 20 years with the Federal Aviation Agency In El Paso and Albuquerque. He resided in Birmingham, AL, El Paso, TX , and Albuquerque,NM. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia Dare Livingston Rutherford; and his brother, Huey D. Rutherford. He is survived by his daughter, Jolene Rutherford of Albuquerque; son, Lee C. Rutherford and wife, Priscilla of El Paso, TX; grandson, David M. Theis; and granddaughter, Chrysanthie Chrissos, both of Albuquerque. He loved people, pets, planes, trains, automobiles and motorcycles. SHIRLEY -- Sara J. "Sally" Shirley, age 89, of Delmont, PA died Wednesday, June 16, 2004. She was born October 19, 1914 in Islin, PA; daughter of the late Elwin and Florence Irwin. Sally retired in 1976 from the Kiski area school district where she worked as a maintenance worker. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Delmont, PA; was an enthusiastic square dancer who enjoyed traveling and playing cards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin Scott Shirley; and brother, Dale Irwin. Surviving are her husband, Donald O. Shirley; son, K. Wayne Shirley and his wife, Joan of Albuquerque; two daughters, Donna Earnest and her husband, Barrett of Delmont and Joy Morsaint and her husband, Dane of Carnegie, PA.
