Dahl -- Georgianna Wright Hartzell Dahl, a past resident of Albuquerque and most recently of Boulder, CO, died at home January 26th. She was 67. A Memorial service was held February 3rd at Cornerstone Church of Boulder Valley in Boulder, CO. Georgianna was born February 27, 1932 in Minneapolis, MN. She was a direct descendent of Abraham Clark, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Bachelor of Sciences in Elementary Education from the University of Minnesota, where she also served as an instructor in Natural Sciences. She continued her graduate education with courses in Music History at Harvard University. From 1954 to 1958 she worked at Harvard University Medical School performing follow-up studies of cardiac surgery patients. Georgianna moved to New Mexico in 1968. During the 1970's and 80's she served as Executive Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Opera Guild of the Santa Fe Opera, Education Chairman for the Santa Fe Opera, and was on the Board of Directors of the Albuquerque Opera Theater. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Fine Arts Ministry of Downtown Albuquerque, the American Association of University Women, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Newcomers' Club of Evergreen, CO. Most recently Georgianna was active in community bible studies and a co-founder of the women's group in Boulder. She is survived by her husband, James, Boulder, CO; two sisters, Mary Fritz, Belleville, WI, and Emily Dewhirst, Knoxville, TN; a daughter, Elizabeth, Denver, CO; and three sons, Stephen, Bethesda, MD, Timothy, Denver, CO and David, Boulder, CO. Contributions may be made in her name to the education fund of Cornerstone Church of Boulder Valley, 1190 S. Broadway, Boulder, CO 80303.

Garcia -- Sabino G. Garcia, 78, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2000, in the comfort of his home with many family members at his side. He was born January 4, 1922 in Los Angeles, CA, where he attended various Christian schools, later moved to New Mexico, where he attended El Rito Normal School. He was a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion for New Mexico in 1939, served in the U.S. Marines, the National Guard, 27 years in the U.S. Army, and retired from Sandia Laboratories at Kirtland. He fought in WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, and the Cold War. He was honored by the Governor, appointed the position of Colonel, Aide-de-Camp in 1959 and 1987. He served as D.A.V. State Commander in 1990 and 1991, and was a member of Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice V. Garcia; sons, Francisco F. Garcia II and wife, Terry of Albuquerque, Federico A. Garcia of Albuquerque; daughter, Cassandra Snyder and husband, Kevin of Santa Fe, TX; grandchildren, Michelle Marie Bergevin of Mesa, AZ, Stacy Lynn Wingate of League City, TX, Alicia Elizabeth Garcia of Albuquerque, Victoria Marie Garcia of Albuquerque, Alan and Jason Snyder of Santa FE, TX; great-grandchildren, Ashley Elizabeth Pratt of Mesa, AZ, Bailey Lynn Bergevin of Mesa, AZ, Cody James Crubaugh of Mesa, AZ, Bryane Michelle DeBaylo of League City, TX, Ashlyne Nicole Bulot of League City, TX, Tristan Patrick Ryan Bulot of League City, TX; family and friends who loved and will miss him. Henry -- James F. (Jim) Henry, 79, died February 13, at Kaseman Hospital after a long illness. Wilder -- Charles W. Wilder, born June 14, 1935 in Pena Blanca, NM, passed away on February 22, 2000 at Lovelace Hospital following a long illness. He was preceded in death by Charles H. and Betty Wilder. He is survived by his wife, Maria (Mary) Wilder of the family home; five children, Charles Wilder Jr., Elizabeth Wilder, Robert Wilder, Kathleen Neeley and Brad Wilder. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, James Wilder; and three sisters, Ruth Brown, Ethel Farrington and Betty Grimaldi. Mr. Wilder was honorably discharged from the US Navy after serving in the Korean Conflict. He was retired from the UNM Printing Plant, he also had been an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, where he had been an usher for 40 years. He enjoyed acting, painting, bowling, camping, fishing and gardening. A final viewing will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. in the chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated this afternoon, 1:30 p.m., at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Artie Lucero, Lawrence Lucero, Donnie Chavez, Carlos Bruno, Steve Valdez and Steve Morgan. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Chavez, Junior Chavez, and Danny Padilla. Demerritt -- Ethel Irene Bachert DeMerritt, beloved mother, sister and aunt, of Las Vegas, NM, formerly of Bosque Farms, went to be with Our Lord on Monday, February 21, 2000. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren H. and Betty Bachert; grandparents, Juan Pedro and Eufelia Crespin; aunt, Florinda Crespin; uncle, Donaciano Crespin; and nephews, Warren Harding Bachert and James Warren Gallegos. Ethel was born on March 7, 1949 in Las Vegas, NM. She was a graduate of Robertson High School. She retired from the Bernalillo County District Attorney's office after 27 years of service. Before her current employment with Cornell Corrections in Santa Fe, she also worked as a substitute teacher for the East Las Vegas School District. She was an active and longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Peralta, where she also taught catechism. Ethel's zest for life was evident in her enjoyment of all outdoor activities and her love of rollerblading, singing and dancing. She had a talent for all arts and crafts, especially knitting and crocheting. A devoted mother, loving sister, and beloved friend, Ethel will be dearly missed by all those whose life she touched. She leaves behind her a legacy of memories filled with laughter, understanding, and of giving and receiving love without limits. She is survived by her beloved children, Jerry Allen and Jennifer DeMerritt; her loving friend and father of her children, Jerry DeMerritt; sisters, Betty Ann Espinoza and husband, Alfonso, Geraldine C. Baca and husband, Leroy, Judy Trujillo and husband, Moises, Mariann Bachert and Maribeth Bachert; brother, James W. Bachert and wife, Romelia; nephews and nieces, Leroy Baca, Jeana Baca, Colleen Shirk, Candice Ortiz, Cheryl Alderete, Annette Baca, Crystal Ortiz, Joey Gallegos, Justin James Gallegos, Angelina Bachert, and Michelle Bachert; great-nieces and nephews, Jonathan, Freddie, Heather, Latasha, Montana, Zachary, Americo, and Abel; aunt, Amelia Crespin; and numerous other relatives and many friends. New -- Rita S. New, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1956, died Monday, February 21, 2000. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Henry"Bill" New of Albuquerque; daughter, Rita A. New of Albuquerque; sons, James A. New and wife, Vickie of Bosque Farms and William A. New of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Nathan New, Sarah New, and Tyler New of Albuquerque; and Anita New and Amy New of Bosque Farms; and sister, Agnes Heasley and husband, George of Greensburg, PA. Mrs. New was a member of Holy Ghost Parish, where she was active in the Rosary Altar Society. She worked as a volunteer Teacher's Aide at Holy Ghost Catholic School. Hayden -- Lt. Col. Curtis B. Hayden, U.S. Army Ret., 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1973, died Friday, February 18, 2000. Mr. Hayden was a veteran of WWII and Korea. He retired as a Lt. Col. from the U.S. Army in 1961 with over 20 years active duty in the Philippines, Italy, Germany and Korea. He continued his service to his country in the Disaster Preparedness and Contract Management Offices at Kirtland, AFB. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Hayden of Albuquerque; sons, Robert K. Hayden of Clearwater, FL, Edward B. Hayden and wife, Alma Lynne of Myrtle Beach, SC, and John S. Hayden and wife, Melba of Orange Park, FL; daughters, Susan Baca and husband, Jude of Albuquerque and Linda Topmiller and husband, James, also of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Jude Baca, Jr.; and granddaughter, Melissa Ann Baca. Services will be held Wednesday, 11:00 a.m., at Chester T. Herrera -- Raymond J. Herrera, 47, was called to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 19, 2000 after a long illness. Raymond was born on August 27, 1952. He is survived by his mother, Julie S. Herrera; his son, James Herrera and fiancee, Cindy Gallegos of Albuquerque; wife, Elaine; sons, Tony and Mike, all from San Francisco, CA; close friend, Samantha Baker; brothers, Paul S. Herrera and wife, Orie, Lee Rudy and Herman Herrera, all from Albuquerque. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe C. Herrera; and brother, Ronald S. Herrera. Raymond's wishes were that he be cremated and no services be held. The family would like to thank all their family and friends for the kindness and support shown to them during their recent loss.
