Ana Luisa (Bayron) Byron, 86, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past seven years, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2000. Ana Luisa was born September 5, 1913, the daughter of Ramon Bayron and Magdalena Bayron-Cruz in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. She retired after 32 years from the garment district in New York City. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Ana Luisa Gautier-Bayron; four brothers; and one sister. Ana Luisa is survived by her loving sister, Aurea Virgin Encarnacion-Cruz; nieces, Edmee Julia Encarnacion-Bayron, Mary Madeleine Newman and husband, Michael, Carmen Luisa DeJesus, Gladys DeJesus; nephews, Ramon Enrique Encarnacion-Bayron, Rafael Bayron; grandniece, Mercedes Elena Hernandez; grandnephew, Michael David Newman; great-grandnieces, Cristianne Aurin and Kheisla Edmee Jordan; and many wonderful and caring family and friends in Puerto Rico, Rio Rancho, New York, and Florida. Ethel Irene Bachert DeMerritt, beloved mother, sister and aunt, of Las Vegas, NM, formerly of Bosque Farms, went to be with Our Lord on Monday, February 21, 2000. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren H. and Betty Bachert; grandparents, Juan Pedro and Eufelia Crespin; aunt, Florinda Crespin; uncle, Donaciano Crespin; and nephews, Warren Harding Bachert and James Warren Gallegos. Ethel was born on March 7, 1949 in Las Vegas, NM. She was a graduate of Robertson High School. She retired from the Bernalillo County District Attorney's office after 27 years of service. Before her current employment with Cornell Corrections in Santa Fe, she also worked as a substitute teacher for the East Las Vegas School District. She was an active and longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Peralta, where she also taught catechism. Ethel's zest for life was evident in her enjoyment of all outdoor activities and her love of rollerblading, singing and dancing. She had a talent for all arts and crafts, especially knitting and crocheting. A devoted mother, loving sister, and beloved friend, Ethel will be dearly missed by all those whose life she touched. She leaves behind her a legacy of memories filled with laughter, understanding, and of giving and receiving love without limits. She is survived by her beloved children, Jerry Allen and Jennifer DeMerritt; her loving friend and father of her children, Jerry DeMerritt; sisters, Betty Ann Espinoza and husband, Alfonso, Geraldine C. John M. Feeney, age 77, of Niceville, Florida died Monday, February 21, 2000 at Twin Cities Hospital from complications following an extended illness. John was a Special Agent (retired) for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. His career with the FBI spanned 26 years in Michigan, New Mexico and Alabama. Born in Pennsylvania, in 1923, he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1942 to 1945. He was a"Shipwrecked Sailor of the South Seas", having survived sinking of the Lexington during the battle of the Coral Sea. Prior to entering duty with the FBI and after the war, John graduated from Indiana University of PA and taught high school for a short period. During his career with the FBI John served in the Albuquerque, Detroit and Mobile Divisions with duty in the Battle Creek, MI and Tucumcari, NM resident agencies. After he retired from the FBI in Albuquerque, John continued working in the investigative field for 19 years and was associated with the FBI's BICS program until last year when poor health forced him to quit working. John and his wife Gail lived in Albuquerque from 1977 until their move to Niceville, Florida in 1997. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Gail; sons, Christopher Feeney of Martinez, GA and Mike Feeney of Chandler, AZ; daughter, Patricia Mauer of New Orleans, LA and step-son, Scott McAda of Niceville, FL. Eight grandchildren also survive. A private memorial gathering for friends and family will be held at a later date in Niceville. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy may be made to the charity of your choice.

Mary Angus Gallegos, 72, who was filled with the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ, all her life. Jesus has taken her home to Heaven to be with Him forever more. She was the most precious wife and mother to her husband and three sons. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Eddie M. Gallegos; her sons, Eddie M. Gallegos Jr. and Reggie A. Gallegos; and grandsons, Simon, Marcello, Tim and Paul. She went to be in Heaven with her youngest son, Marcus G. Gallegos. Memorial services will be held at Calvary Chapel, 4001 Osuna Rd. She was preceded in death by her mother, Delia Brionez Garcia; and a sister, Bernadette Garcia. She is survived by her daughter, Bernadette V. Garcia; her father, Johnny A. Garcia; two brothers, Richard Brionez of San Jose, CA and Leslie Garcia of Carnuel; three sisters, Judy Griego and husband, David, Emerald Martinez, both of Albuquerque and Norene Garcia and husband, Theodore of Tijeras; Godparents, Bernardino and Augustine Garcia, Richard and Alvita Garcia, all of Carnuel; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sabino G. Garcia, 78, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2000, in the comfort of his home with many family members at his side. He was born January 4, 1922 in Los Angeles, CA, where he attended various Christian schools, later moved to New Mexico, where he attended El Rito Normal School. He was a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion for New Mexico in 1939, served in the U.S. Marines, the National Guard, 27 years in the U.S. Army, and retired from Sandia Laboratories at Kirtland. He fought in WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, and the Cold War. He was honored by the Governor, appointed the position of Colonel, Aide-de-Camp in 1959 and 1987. He served as D.A.V. State Commander in 1990 and 1991, and was a member of Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice V. Garcia; sons, Francisco F. Garcia II and wife, Terry of Albuquerque, Federico A. J. Joseph Lopez, electrical engineer and civic leader, passed away February 21, 2000 after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor Marron; five children and their spouses, Owen and Vicki of Santa Fe, Jay and Inge of San Diego, Kathy and Paul, Floyd and Susan of Albuquerque, and Tim and Ronda also of Santa Fe. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; by his sister, Mary Neuburger of Las Cruces; his brother and sister-in-law, Al and Ivy of Point Pleasant, NJ; sister-in-law, Mime Lopez of Crofton, MD; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Lopez was born February 6, 1913 in Newark, New Jersey, graduated from Rutgers University in 1937, and was employed by AT&T until 1949 when he began working for Reynolds Electric Company in the capacity of the first manager of the Nevada Test Site. In 1956, he founded his own electrical consulting engineering firm, Uhl & Lopez, which served clients both nationally and internationally, with particular emphasis on the National Laboratories and the Mountain Bell system. He retired in 1992 after transferring his company to Holmes & Narver. During his distinguished career, Mr. Lopez received various merit awards for his work. He served on the board and was President of the Society of Professional Engineers of New Mexico. As a civic leader, he served on the board and as President of the Albuquerque Rotary Club, on the board and as President of the N.M. Symphony Orchestra, on the board of the United Way and co-chaired one year's fund drive, co-chaired the fund drive to build the Jemez Mountain Camp for the Girl Scouts of America, and served on the boards of the Maternal and Child Health Council, Casa Angelica, and the Albuquerque chapters of the American Red Cross and Easter Seals. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a Knight of St. Gregory. Mr. Lopez was interested in education, encouraging his children and his grandchildren in their academic pursuits as a priority. He served on the board of trustees of the Albuquerque Academy and, upon retirement, enrolled in classes at UNM and St. Johns College, concentrating in a liberal arts curriculum outside his professional disciplines. Mr. Lopez was also an avid golfer, skier and snowshoer and was known for his lengthy hikes in the mountains of N.M. and Colorado. A Memorial Mass will be said by Father Al McBride on Friday, February 25, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, in Albuquerque. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to charities of choice.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Springer of Albuquerque; son, Robert Springer and wife, Ruth of Los Alamos; and grandchildren, Bobby Springer and wife, Amy, Michael Springer and Anne Springer. Margaret served during WWII as a Nurse in the U.S. Army with the 37th General Hospital, in North Africa and Italy. In California, she was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, active in St. Alban's Episcopal Church and worked as a volunteer precinct worker for California elections. Services will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Chad's Episcopal Church, 7171 Tennyson NE, with Rector Stephen R. Caldwell officiating. Mass of Christian Burial for Fernando C. Torres will be celebrated Wednesday morning, 10:00 a.m., at the St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church, with final viewing at the church after 9:30 a.m. Father Frank Prieto, Celebrant. Jessie Milton Vigil passed away on Friday, February 18, 2000 in Albuquerque. He is survived by his brother, John Henry Otero and his wife, Mary West Otero and their four sons, Steven Jordan, John Vigil Jr., Mark Vigil and Paul Vigil. Jessie is also survived by many cousins and other family members. Jessie was a veteran of the United States Army and was in the Elite Army Unit, the Green Berets. He was a paratrooper. Jessie will be sorely missed by his family, who loved him very much. Services will be held at the International All Faith Center, 217 Iron SW, Albuquerque. Lillian"Lil" Webert, 70, died on February 21, 2000 in Albuquerque. She was born in Rowley, Iowa to Leo and Alice Robinson Harrison. She retired from Digital Corporation in 1985 and was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband, Otto Webert of Albuquerque; two children, Barbara Rivera and husband, John of Albuquerque and Dennis Webert and wife, Sally of Los Lunas; a sister, Darlene Wedo and husband, Art of Urbana, IA; and two grandchildren, Kimberly Gutierrez and fiance, Joe Rivera, both of Albuquerque and Dalton Webert of Los Lunas. Viewing will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Charles W. Wilder, born June 14, 1935 in Pena Blanca, NM, passed away on February 22, 2000 at Lovelace Hospital following a long illness. He was preceded in death by Charles H. and Betty Wilder. He is survived by his wife, Maria (Mary) Wilder of the family home; five children, Charles Wilder Jr., Elizabeth Wilder, Robert Wilder, Kathleen Neeley and Brad Wilder. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, James Wilder; and three sisters, Ruth Brown, Ethel Farrington and Betty Grimaldi. Mr. Wilder was honorably discharged from the US Navy after serving in the Korean Conflict. He was retired from the UNM Printing Plant, he also had been an active member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, where he had been an usher for 40 years. He enjoyed acting, painting, bowling, camping, fishing and gardening. A Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alameda Mortuary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday afternoon, 1:30 p.m., at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Artie Lucero, Lawrence Lucero, Donnie Chavez, Carlos Bruno, Steve Valdez and Steve Morgan. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Chavez, Junior Chavez, and Danny Padilla.
