Obituary for Dahl

Georgianna Wright Hartzell Dahl, a past resident of Albuquerque and most recently of Boulder, CO, died at home January 26th. She was 67. A Memorial service was held February 3rd at Cornerstone Church of Boulder Valley in Boulder, CO. Georgianna was born February 27, 1932 in Minneapolis, MN. She was a direct descendent of Abraham Clark, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Bachelor of Sciences in Elementary Education from the University of Minnesota, where she also served as an instructor in Natural Sciences. She continued her graduate education with courses in Music History at Harvard University. From 1954 to 1958 she worked at Harvard University Medical School performing follow-up studies of cardiac surgery patients. Georgianna moved to New Mexico in 1968. During the 1970's and 80's she served as Executive Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Opera Guild of the Santa Fe Opera, Education Chairman for the Santa Fe Opera, and was on the Board of Directors of the Albuquerque Opera Theater. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Fine Arts Ministry of Downtown Albuquerque, the American Association of University Women, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Newcomers' Club of Evergreen, CO. Most recently Georgianna was active in community bible studies and a co-founder of the women's group in Boulder. She is survived by her husband, James, Boulder, CO; two sisters, Mary Fritz, Belleville, WI, and Emily Dewhirst, Knoxville, TN; a daughter, Elizabeth, Denver, CO; and three sons, Stephen, Bethesda, MD, Timothy, Denver, CO and David, Boulder, CO.
