Sabino G. Garcia, 78, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2000, in the comfort of his home with many family members at his side. He was born January 4, 1922 in Los Angeles, CA, where he attended various Christian schools, later moved to New Mexico, where he attended El Rito Normal School. He was a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion for New Mexico in 1939, served in the U.S. Marines, the National Guard, 27 years in the U.S. Army, and retired from Sandia Laboratories at Kirtland. He fought in WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, and the Cold War. He was honored by the Governor, appointed the position of Colonel, Aide-de-Camp in 1959 and 1987. He served as D.A.V. State Commander in 1990 and 1991, and was a member of Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice V. Garcia; sons, Francisco F. Garcia II and wife, Terry of Albuquerque, Federico A. Garcia of Albuquerque; daughter, Cassandra Snyder and husband, Kevin of Santa Fe, TX; grandchildren, Michelle Marie Bergevin of Mesa, AZ, Stacy Lynn Wingate of League City, TX, Alicia Elizabeth Garcia of Albuquerque, Victoria Marie Garcia of Albuquerque, Alan and Jason Snyder of Santa FE, TX; great-grandchildren, Ashley Elizabeth Pratt of Mesa, AZ, Bailey Lynn Bergevin of Mesa, AZ, Cody James Crubaugh of Mesa, AZ, Bryane Michelle DeBaylo of League City, TX, Ashlyne Nicole Bulot of League City, TX, Tristan Patrick Ryan Bulot of League City, TX; family and friends who loved and will miss him. Services will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl. SE, with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2000, Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, with burial following at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dan Able, Frank Tapia, David Greer, Steve Watson, Kevin Snyder, Thomas Varoz. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernie Martin, Louis Ponticelli, Ray Estrada, Ventura Romero, Gerry Miera, Richard Flores, Stan Mullen, Bennie Romero, Edward Rodarte, Reyes Gonzales, William Dahl, and Miguel Gonzales.
