HUNTER -- Elmer T. Hunter, 88, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Edith E. Hunter of Albuquerque; sons, John Dale Hunter and companion, Susan Hood, James Dennis Hunter and wife, Sandra, and George David Hunter, all of Albuquerque; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Hunter and wife, Florence of Albuquerque, and Cecil Hunter and wife, Mattie of Sun City, AZ; step-brother, Jack Beckner of Orangeville, CA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Delbert; granddaughter, Denise Hayslip; and sister, Velma Schultz. Elmer was an avid beekeeper, and enjoyed gardening and spending time with his sons and grandchildren. He retired from the Boiler Makers Union in 1980. Services will be held Wednesday, September 15, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel with Pastor Herbert Watson officiating. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. MARNEY -- Dorothy E. Marney, 78, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, Septmebr 5, 2004. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon W. Marney. Survivors include sister, Bonnie Tallman (Frank); brother, James Honeycutt (Illene); brother, Deerwood; brothers-in-law, Les Marney, Ray Marney (Pat), and extended families.

WINCHELL -- Ruth Juanita (Eikenberry) Winchell, 66, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2004. She battled scleroderma for several years but could suffer no longer and is now at peace. She always looked for the joy in life and left a lasting impression on those who came in contact with her and her contagious laugh and beautiful smile. She is preceded in death by her husband, James R. Winchell in 2002; her father, Ralph Eikenberry and mother, Ethel Eikenberry. Ruth is survived by her brother, Daniel Eikenberry of Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Patricia Fillmore of Albuquerque and Judith Cone of Galva, IL; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Betty Newville and the staff at Sandia Kindred Hospital for their excellent, tender care of our sister. MARKER -- Thomas Franklin Marker, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, passed away on September 6, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mildred; daughters, Mitzi Zeri and husband, Matt and Meredith Jungst and husband, Rudolph; grandchildren, Marie Louise Baca, David Merritt Bueffel and wife, Karin, Scott Matthew Bueffel and wife, Jennifer, Elizabeth Anne Dreith and husband, Douglas, Michelle Christine Jungst, Heather Nichole Jungst; great-grandchildren, Jennifer Nicole Baca, Derek Michael Bueffel, Casey James Bueffel, Harrison Tyler Bueffel, Aspen Bueffel, and Finnigan Elliot Bueffel. Tom served his country in the Army during WWII and was a Major in the Signal Corps. He retired from Sandia National Labs in 1985 after 37 years of service. He was a member of IEEE, was listed in Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and was a member of the Family Motor Coach Association. Services will be held at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE on Friday, September 10, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Luckenbach and Rev. Kenneth Clark officiating. MITCHELL -- Lillian Ruella Mitchell, age 90, of Hot Springs, AR, formerly of Arkadelphia, died Wednesday, September 8, 2004. She was born February 8, 1914 in Little Rock to Kate Cameron Martin. She was Married to Hollis Mitchell on November 3, 1934. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She was a Registered Nurse; and was retired from Sandia Air Force Base in Albuquerque, NM. She was a member of Baring Cross Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Bill Schenke of Hot Springs; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Linda Mitchell of Fayetteville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be 12 noon Saturday at the Pinecrest Memorial Park in Little Rock with Rev. James Calhoun and Rev. Charles Polston officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs, AR. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Those wishing to memorialize Mrs. Mitchell may make contributions to Baring Cross Missionary Baptist Church of Arkadelphia or the Alzheimers Association. BARKALOW -- James E. Barkalow, 79, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1993 after moving to New Mexico from Dayton, OH, passed away from this earthly existence on September 3, 2004, and now sits in our Lord's house. Jim was born on Dec 19, 1924, in Dayton, OH. One son, Tim, precedes him in death. His wife of 56 years, Rosemary, and their 8 children - Sue, Larry, Nancy, Terry, Cheryl, Jim, Sandra, Dan; 24 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren, survive him. The family wishes everyone to know that James fought the good fight and served his family and country with love, honor, and respect. James served his country in WWII, fighting in the European theater, serving in the 3rd Army, 90th Division, under Patton. James is an ex-POW - he and several of his buddies were captured during the war by the Germans and later managed to escape during a firewood foraging excursion. James fought in the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes Forest. James leaves behind a deep and rich legacy to his family and friends, full of wisdom, love, and laughter. We honor his passing with celebration, as he is now in our Lord's home, and we look forward to the day when we can join him. A memorial service will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church on Friday September 10 at 10:30 a.m. The family will gather for a private ceremony in Ohio where his ashes will be interned at a later date.
