BARELA -- Priscilla Chavez Barela, 68, of Grantsboro, died: Friday, September 10, 2004 at Craven Regional Medical Center. Priscilla was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church. She was an interpreter on the Ship Hope in Nicaragua. She sang in various choirs throughout her years of travel. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Servero Chavez and Pete Barela. Priscilla was also preceded in death by two brothers, Juanello and Primitivo Chavez. Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 20th, 2004 at 10:00 am at Gardens of Pamlico Assisted Living with Rev. Danny Allen officiating. She is survived by: one son, Dr. Alexander "Alex" Chavez and wife Dee of New Bern; two brothers, Charlie Chavez of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Ralph Chavez of San Jose, CA; one sister Cora Bennett of Sacramento, CA; four grandchildren, Sarah, Michael, Brian, and Thomas Chavez all of New Bern. BUNKER -- Jeanne Loughlin Bunker, 81, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, September 9, 2004. She is survived by her children, Nancy J. Watts and husband, Tom of Pagosa Springs, CO; Kevin R. Bunker and wife, Debra of Parker, CO; Margaret J. Dorneden of Albuquerque; NM; grandchildren, Estevan Bunker, Rebecca Bunker, and Ashley Dorneden; step-grandsons, Ben and Sam Watts; sisters, Margaret Loughlin McGrane of Dunedin, FL and Eileen Heninger of Destin, FL; brother, Joseph T. Loughlin and Carol Baffa of Huntly, IL; close friend, Carol Chavez of Albuquerque, NM; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Joseph and Margaret Loughlin; former husband, Lt. Col. Robert A. Bunker, USAF (Ret.); brothers-in-law, Joseph McGrane and Ben Heninger; and son-in-law, John F. Dorneden III. Jeanne served her country as a Captain in the USAF Nursing Corp during the Korean conflict era. She was a Registered Nurse with the Public Health Department in New Mexico and other states. She was a member of the Catholic Church. Jeanne's family would like to express a special "Thank You" to the nurses, therapists and doctors from Presbyterian in ICU South and Kaseman Presbyterian Hospitals. CHENOWETH -- William Burrel Chenoweth, 86, born in Tulsa, OK on October 7, 1917 ascended into Heaven peacefully on Thursday afternoon, September 9, 2004 to be with his Lord and Savior, who he served all his life, following a long and valiant battle with Alzheimer's. He was a long time resident of New Mexico since coming here from Tulsa in 1948 with his beautiful bride, JoAn and eldest daughter, Marilu. They had no money and no place to live, but they did have their faith in God and He saw them through. "Burrel" was the loving husband of JoAn, his soul mate of 66 years. He was a devoted father of two daughters, Marilu Flaherty, Becky Gonzales and her husband Ray. And one son, Don Lee Chenoweth. He was a loving grandfather to six grandchildren, who all fondly knew him as Dadah. Dwayne Flaherty, Becky Lou Biddle and husband David, Vicki Lynn Garcia and husband John. Tami Howes and husband, David, Danny Gonzales and wife Lea. JoAnna Marie Gonzales, his youngest granddaughter who spent the last three years caring for her ailing grandfather. He was the loving great-grandfather of 11 great-grandchildren. Robert, Stacey, Willy and Thomas Flaherty, Wesley and Meagan Biddle, Jacob and Johnathon Garcia, Hailey and Joshua Howes, and Alicia Gonzales. Along with many numerous nieces and nephews. Burrel worked as a Machinist of General Electric for 30 years. And retired in 1984. He was a long time Elder of The Lighthouse of New Mexico fondly known as Brother Burrel. He received the Sunshine Award for his faithful dedication to the hospital visitation Ministry. Burrel was a generous man who often gave the shirt off his back to anyone in need and never expected anything in return. His kind and loving heart will be greatly missed by not only his family but all of those whose lives he touched. May you rest in peace our loving brother in Christ. It's not good bye, it's until we meet again. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on September 13, 2004 at Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo NE Albuquerque, NM 87108. DUGGAN -- Gerald "Jerry" Duggan, 75, a resident of Albuquerque since 1968, died Thursday, September 9, 2004 after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Vicky Duggan of Albuquerque; son, David Duggan and wife, Ruth; daughters, Debbie Ward, Janice Duggan, and Judy Baca and husband, Michael, all of Albuquerque; sons, Jeff Duggan and wife, Kris of Lancaster, CA and Richard Duggan and wife, Tracy of La Mesa, NM; 10 grandchildren, Kathy, Kristina, Jennifer, Jessica, Jaime, Tori, Matthew, Erin, Marcus, and Joseph; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Joseph Duggan and Thomas Duggan, both of St. Louis, MO; and sister, Ida McDevitt of St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. His lifelong passion and career was camera repair. When he wasn't working for companies like Pentax, he owned and operated his own repair business. His love of baseball and the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team led him to volunteer for many years to the Thunderbird Little League and the Babe Ruth League in Albuquerque. His association with those leagues continued even after his sons had finished with the leagues. He was always very proud of his children and grandchildren and was constantly heard bragging about them. His last journey was one of a student as he had gone back to school to become an accountant. He was very proud of the fact that he could still learn new things. Cremation has taken place and a wake service will be held Monday, September 13, 2004; 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, September 14, 2004, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Lomas at Tennessee NE, with Father Edward C. Domme, Celebrant. DURAN -- Rafael Duran, 88, and a life long resident of the Cuba area, passed away Monday, September 6, 2004. DVORACK -- Catherine L. "Lois" Dvorack, 75, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 9, 2004 at the Albuquerque Regional Medical Center, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Ford City, PA on August 8, 1929 to Katherine and Louis Nycz, and was raised in Rossford, OH. She attended Rossford High School and married Albert Dvorack in April 1947, becoming a homemaker and raising two sons just north of Haskins, OH. Catherine was a member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Rossford, OH and later became a parishioner at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Bowling Green, OH. In October 2000, she and her husband went to Albuquerque, NM to live with her son, Michael, in order to help care for her husband. After Albert's death in March 2002, Catherine remained with her son in Albuquerque and became a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Catholic Church. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Dr. Michael Dvorack of Albuquerque, and John Dvorack and wife, Doris of Toledo, OH; and granddaughter, Jennifer Bowers of Elida, OH. Rosary will be recited Sunday, September 12, 2004, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Catholic Church, 1837 Alvarado NE, with Father Christopher Zugger reciting. HALE -- William E. Hale, 88, passed away early Friday, September 10, 2004. Born in Oklahoma on July 22, 1916, "Bill" lived most of his life in New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia and sister Bess. William E. Hale is survived by three sons, William M. "Dusty" and wife Nan, David L. and wife Becky, and Stephen D. and wife Debi; five grandchildren, Eric and wife Elsie Hale, Mindy Hale and partner Pamela, Cassie and husband Travis Stuart, Jenifer Hale and Krista Hale; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, David Hale and wife Betty of Santa Fe, and a sister Jean and husband Wesley Wilcox of Illinois. Bill Hale worked for the US Geological Survey and traveled much during his career. After retiring he liked to stay in touch with fellow workers and to visit the work sites of his sons. HINDI -- Ednen Hindi passed away peacefully in Albuquerque on September 5, 2004 at the age of 81. Born on April 4, 1923, he grew up on the family's sheep, cattle, and horse ranch in Torrance County and attended school in Duran, NM. Ednen attended high school and college at New Mexico Military Institute, where he excelled in academics and was an accomplished athlete, and graduated in 1943. He subsequently served in the US Army from 1943 to 1952. As a lieutenant platoon commander in the First Armored Division, he served in Europe during WWII, earning the Bronze Star. He was stationed in Texas during the Korean War, at which time he was promoted to Captain. He married Billie Ray Smith from Floydada, TX, in 1948. After leaving the military, they lived on the ranch and raised 3 children. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Vaughn. He enjoyed hunting and photography, and was an avid horseman, inventive rancher, and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Ed was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at an early age. Through the many years of his illness, he never lost his love of life or sense of humor. Even as his illness progressed, he continued to use his abilities for weaving, pottery making, and other creative artwork. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Clarita Duran (1973), from Duran and Alex Hindi (1974), who immigrated to the US from Zahle, Lebanon in 1908; his wife, Billie Ray Smith (1989), his eldest son, Ednen Alex (2001); and his sister, Hafiza (Tony) Gallegos (2000). He is survived by his son, Robert D. Hindi, M. D. of San Francisco; daughter, Sarah Hindi and Maureen Eckroth of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Ednen William, Khara Rose, Amarah Kay, Jhad Alex, all of Albuquerque; his sister, Samia (Harry) Doro, and brothers, Brahaim (Susie Garde), Sam (Amelia Vicente), Shafie (Emma Budagher), and Nabay (Vivian Tapia); 22 nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins, great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews. The family would like to sincerely thank the numerous caregivers for their care and support over the past several years, particularly the physicians, nurses, and hospital staff at the Spinal Cord Injury Unit of the Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque. A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 11, 2004, 11:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. A catered reception followed. JUSTICE -- Ann Justice, 78, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, September 10, 2004. She is survived by daughters, Jerre Lynn Jenkins and Christie Jo Justice, both of Albuquerque; sister, Corine McPherson of Silver Springs, NV; granddaughter, Kimberly Anne Silva of Albuquerque and great granddaughters, Ashlee Marie Reed and Valerie Lynn Reed. KENNEDY -- Rene Rose. Our Lord Jesus came and softly carried our beloved Rene Rose Kennedy through the golden gates into the wonderful land beyond with Him and all our loved ones there on Saturday, September 11, 2004. Lorene Rose "Rene" Kennedy was born on January 20, 1923 in Oklahoma. She was a teacher, accountant and junior engineer and was a missionary in Nigeria several years ago. Mrs. Kennedy served as pastor's wife at Stanley Union Church in Stanley, NM for 10 years as well as at several other churches in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Colquitt A. Kennedy of Albuquerque; daughter, Marilyn K. Levine of Albuquerque; sons, Dr. Criswell A. Kennedy and wife, Shirley of Spokane, WA and John D. MESZAROS -- Imre Joseph Meszaros, 64, died Monday evening, September . 6 after a short illness at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Albuquerque. Funeral services, including military honors, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Monday, September . 13 , at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Road at Meadowlark Lane in Rio Rancho. Public visitation will be today, 1 to 8 p.m. , in Vista Verde Mortuary Chapel . Mr. Meszaros is survived by his wife, Luz Marina Meszaros, a son, Karl Meszaros of Mesa, Arizona, and a daughter, Marcella Cameron of Orlando, Fla. He has a brother, Bela Meszaros who resides in Hungary, and four grandchildren, Ryan and Alyssa Meszaros and Kelsey and Amanda Cameron. Mr. Meszaros was preceded in death by his brother Laszlo and sister Marie. Arriving in the United States at an early age from Hungary, Mr. Meszaros completed his education here and served in the US Army Medical Corps. He worked for many years in nuclear medicine for the Public Health Service, most recently in Montana. He and his wife moved to Albuquerque in 1986 and he survived three separate bouts with cancer over the past eight years. Arrangements by: Vista Verde Mortuary 892-9920.

TRUJILLO -- Celes S. Trujillo "Uncle Butch" age 67, went home to the Lord, Tuesday, September 7, 2004. A lifetime resident of Bernalillo, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Robert "Bobby" Quiroz. He is survived by his sister, Marie Padilla and husband, Ray of San Antonio, TX; brother, Alex Trujillo of Albuquerque; sister, Dora Gutierrez of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, Dan Montano; many nephews, nieces, other family, and friends. Celes will always be in our hearts and prayers and we will miss him deeply. Memorial services will be held at the First Assembly of God in Bernalillo, NM. VALENCIA -- Ray Valencia, of Santa Fe and Medanales, NM, passed away suddenly September 8, 2004. Ray was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and loving husband to Patsy Valencia, who preceded him in death. After his tour of duty during the Korean Conflict, Ray graduated from Gallaudet College in Washington, D.C. and began teaching at the New Mexico School for the Deaf in Santa Fe, eventually taking the position of Dean of Students. He also taught Special Education classes in the Espanola Public School systems for many years while commuting from his beloved ranch in Medanales, NM. He is survived by his children: Ana Berry of Santa Fe, Gloria Valencia of Salt Spring Island, B.C., Sam Valencia of Santa Fe, and Felix Valencia of Santa Fe. His grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and many, many friends all feel the loss of his presence. Visitation will begin on Sunday, September 12, 2004, 3:00 p.m. where a Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. at Berardinelli Family Chapel. WIEST -- David A. Wiest, 83, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2004. David was born in Reading, PA on September 24, 1920 to the late Emma and Luther Wiest. He is survived by his wife, Opal; his two sons, Randy Wiest and his wife, Linda, Paul Wiest and his wife, Rose; three granddaughters, Michelle Brannan and husband, Leo, Kimberly Wiest-Sanchez and husband, Calvin Sanchez, and Pamela Wiest; one grandson, Joshua Wiest; along with one great-grandson, Dylan Wiest-Sanchez; and Opal's daughter, Rita Duazat. Mr. Wiest came to New Mexico with the U.S. Army in 1944 and eventually settled here and married Mary Jean Steidley. He worked for and later owned the Steidley Insurance Agency in Albuquerque. After 50 years, he retired in November, 2002 when his health wouldn't allow him to work any longer. Mr. Wiest was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church and later of Central United Methodist Church. He was a board member of the Albuquerque Rescue Mission for over 20 years. Mr. Wiest was a member of the Ballut Abyad Temple and the Hiram Lodge #13. His hobbies included antique cars, photography and many types of collectibles. Services will be held Tuesday, September 14th, at 3:30 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Friends may visit French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, Monday, September 13th, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Albuquerque Rescue Mission, Inc., P.O.
