AMBABO -- George Charles Ambabo passed away May 25, 2010 at the age of 90. George was born in Syracuse N.Y. to George and Helen Ambabo. He is survived by his two sons, Donald Ambabo and wife Sandy and Andrew Ambabo and wife Carol; George is also survived by his beloved sister Irene Monto of Syracuse N.Y.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. George was preceded in death by Patricia Ambabo, the mother of his children; Bernadette Ambabo, his loving second wife; and Catherine (Kay) Pedersen, his daughter. George was a decorated World War Two veteran as a bomber pilot in the Army Air Corp. George flew over 200 missions in B-17's, B-24's and B-25's. George participated in the Pacific, Europe and African theaters. After the war George received his Business degree from the University of New Mexico and began a lifelong love affair with the Lobos. George was President of the UNM Alumni association in the early sixties. He had various business careers, but his love of flying never diminished and one of his greatest joys was his involvement in his son's Helicopter and Aviation business. The family would like to extend our most sincere thanks to the New Mexico Veteran's Home in Truth or Consequences NM where George was a resident for two years until his death. Their love and caring of George shall never be forgotten. If you feel so inclined, please make any donations to this wonderful home. George called a number of communities in the Southwest his home throughout his life, but his fondest memories were of the beautiful Sandia Mountains outside Albuquerque. In respect of his wishes and as a tribute to this proud man, George will take flight one last time, soaring over the majestic Sandia's. God rest his soul.

ARMIJO -- Connie (Mary) Armijo, 66, beloved and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, June 17, 2010. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family. She gave counsel to all and was a stranger to none. Connie was a caring bus driver of special needs children for 22 years with the Herrera Bus Company. Connie was a member of Fruit Ave. / First Spanish Baptist Church. She found joy in cooking, as well as spending time and talking with her family and friends. Her strong faith in God assures us that she is now whole again and smiling down upon us. Connie was married 45 years and is survived by her loving husband Johnny. Connie loved and adored her grandchildren, Seth and Allegra; they were the apple of her eye. She is also survived by her daughter, Angela Rozzelle and her husband, Richard. Connie will be remembered with love by all who knew her. "See you at the waterfall". BAILEY -- Nicole Bailey, 40, passed away on Friday, June, 11, 2010 following a courageous battle with breast cancer. She died peacefully at her sister's home in Mechanicsburg, PA. Nicole was born on April 15, 1970 in Lewisburg, PA, and was raised in Milton, PA. She graduated high school in Salisbury, MD and spent time in VA before returning to Lewisburg to study Geology at Bucknell University. She graduated in 1998 and moved to Albuquerque the same year to attend graduate school at UNM. She was employed at Tetra Tech EMI during and after receiving her master's degree in Earth and Planetary Science in 2004. She began working at URS Corporation in Albuquerque, NM the following year. She had fallen in love with the desert and would remain in Albuquerque until January 2010. Nicole lived a full life in her short 40 years. Nicole enjoyed hiking and traveling. She was a member of the Albuquerque Chapter of Toastmasters and in 2006 ran a marathon in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She had a wonderful sense of humor, an ability to laugh at herself in any situation and a knack for putting troubling circumstances in perspective. Nicole is remembered for her thoughtfulness her loving heart and her beautiful smile. She is dearly loved and greatly missed. Nicole was preceded in death by her mother Nancy Bailey; and grandparents Leroy and Mary Jane Dehart. She is survived by her father Norman Bailey of Reading PA; two sisters, Bridget Bailey of Reading, PA and Robin Hoffman and husband Ted of Mechanicsburg, PA; nephew, Tyler; nieces, Alexis and Hailey; many friends. A memorial to celebrate her life will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Elena Gallegos Park at the Double Shelter Area beginning at 6:00 p.m. followed by a pot luck dinner. BERNASCONI -- Louis Henry Bernasconi , COL (USAF RET), 79, a resident of Albuquerque for 36 years, died Saturday, May 29, 2010. He was born in Napa, California to Louis and Mary Regusci Bernasconi and was the nephew of the late Jim and Livia Regusci. He graduated from Napa High School in 1949 and from Fresno State College in 1953 with a degree in business administration. He joined the Air Force in 1955 and retired in 1980 with 27 years of service. During his Air Force career, he was a radar navigator flying B-36's, B-47's, C-123's and B-52's. He served three tours in Vietnam earning The Distinguish Flying Cross, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster. On December 22, 1972, during his final tour in Vietnam, he was shot down over Hanoi, captured, and remained a prisoner until March 29, 1973. After completing Air War College, he was assigned to the Air Force Weapons Laboratory at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico, as director of the Laser Engineering and Applications for Prototype System (LEAPS) Division. Many of his colleagues felt he was the finest person they ever worked for and that he really took care of the people that worked for him. Louis is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sara; one daughter, Kathy Bernasconi of Fresno, CA; two sons, Michael Gist and wife Stephanie of Flower Mound, TX, and Mark Gist and wife Jill of Pritchard, ID; six grandchildren, Tawny DePiazza of Vallejo CA, Mathew and Charles Gist of Austin, TX, Mitchell Allen Gist of Flower Mound, TX, Mason Franklin Gist of Flower Mound, TX, Whitney Gist Parks of Pryor, OK, and Spencer Cheyenne Gist of Pryor, OK; one great-granddaughter; and two special cousings from Napa, CA.-Isabella Regusci-Simone and husband Amadore, and Angelo Regusci and his wife Mary. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Lou was preceded in death by his father, his mother and stepfather, and his aunt and uncle. A Memorial Rosary will be held on Monday, June 21, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at French Mortuary Wyoming Blvd. chapel with a Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. with a former LEAPS colleague, Father Doug Mitchell, as the Celebrant. BIDDLE -- Mark Abraham Biddle, age 45, died on Thursday, June 3, 2010. A resident of Seattle WA, he was born and raised in Albuquerque, NM. After serving in the Navy, he pursued his two passions, fishing and traveling. He loved the ocean, living on both coasts for much of his adult years. Known for living life to it's fullest, he lived with no regrets. Like a candle flame always burning, Mark will never die in our hearts, but in life we cannot mourn him always, only remember him each and every day. He had a unique personality and lovable spirit. Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine (Letteau) Biddle, and is survived by his sister, Francelle Somervell and her family of Auckland, New Zealand; his closest friend and cousin, Greg Grisham of Peralta, NM; Greg's son, Kyle Grisham; his cousin, Warren Grisham and his family of Peralta, NM; his aunt, Francelle Alexander and her husband of Placitas, NM; his aunt, Deborah Letteau of Albuquerque; and his cousins, Sander Rue and Jarryd Rue of Albuquerque. CLEMENA -- Pia "Nanay" Castro Clemena, 86, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2010, with her family by her side. Pia was born July 11, 1923, in Mambajao, Camiguin, Philippines to Getulia Magada and Victor Castro. Pia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ambrosio Clemena; brothers, Jesus, Raymundo and Cosme; and sister Benita. She is survived by one sister, Gaudiosa of the Philippines; daughter, Dolores and husband, Art Grumblatt; sons, Juanito and wife Alice; Jessie; Mario and wife Ote; Paul and wife Evangeline; and Ted and wife Cristina, all of Albuquerque; and Alain and wife Cheryl of Maryland. Nanay was a proud grandmother of 18 (Jean, Kim, Arlene, Justin, Jessica, Anthony, Josh, Jay, Adam, Marion, Martin, Cristina, Alvin, Jennifer, Jeremy, Rafael, Alex, and Nicole); and great-grandmother of three (Zachariah, Malachi, and Aldiamond). She immigrated from the Philippines in 1976 and proudly became a US citizen in 1985. Pia was a good seamstress, loved to play bingo looking forward to playing whenever she could. Pia was devoted to her family and faith and touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She had a great sense of humor, loved traveling with her family, enjoyed decorating with Santa Claus', and enjoyed cooking "biko" on celebrations. DUBBS -- Clyde Mitchell Dubbs. Clyde Mitchell Dubbs, born October 21, 1933, passed away unexpectedly at home on June 11, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents Strow and Clesta Mitchell Dubbs, brother Walter (Jack) Barton and sister Clesta Mae Banes. He is survived by his daughters, Beth LeVane (Tim) of Loveland, CO and Meg Burdette (David) of McKinney, TX, brothers Strow of San Antonio, TX and Donald Keith (Betty) of Mineola, TX and sisters Dorothy Townsend of Yuma, AZ, Nancy Greeley of Grand Terrace, CA and Beverly Lee (Jim) of Cape Fair, MO. Clyde was loved by his family, friends, students, neighbors and cats. He was a Korean War era veteran, cyclist and retired Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at The New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, where he taught for 32 years. He is best remembered by his former students for his trademark "vandyke" beard and his personable teaching style. In his own words, "My goal was to generate an enthusiasm for learning in my students. I tried to show them where the value lies in what they're studying and where the joy is in it as well." GARCIA -- Adolfo "Al" Garcia Jr. passed away on May 28, 2010 in Las Vegas, NV at the age of 63 years old. Born July 11, 1946 in Truth or Consequences, NM and raised in Albuquerque. Preceded in death are his parents, Adolfo Sr. and Antonia Garcia of Albuquerque, and one sister, Lydia Villarreal of Albuquerque. Jr. is loved and survived by his wife, Helen of Las Vegas, NV; two children, Marshall Garcia of Las Vegas, NV and Cheri Hamilton of Hemet, CA; three sisters; Martha McGhee of Albuquerque, Lucille Danser of Las Vegas, NV, and Elizabeth Melendez of Albuquerque; and six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many relatives and friends. Jr. served in the Army and received an honorable discharge March 16, 1971. Jr. was very active with the Food Pantry Ministry at his church. His trade was a Glazier. He was on the Board of Directors of Champions of Organ Sharing, (C.O.S.) for many years. Funeral was held in Las Vegas, NV at College Park Baptist Church on June 4, 2010 and laid to rest at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial on June 7, 2010.

MEDLEY -- Josephine M. Medley, 92, resident of Albuquerque since 1966, passed away on June 18, 2010. MILLER -- R. Velma Miller went to be with her Lord on June 10, 2010 at the age of 89 in Carmichael, CA. She was born in Waterloo, Iowa on July 11, 1921 to Bruce and Esther Bohrer. She graduated from Long Beach Poly High and soon after married her high school sweetheart, Ned W. Miller. She was a homemaker and they raised their two daughters in Torrance, CA. Velma is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Donald Rumley, of Rancho Cordova, CA; son-in-law Richard Michna; five grandchildren, Dawnella Michna, Wendi Hogstedt (husband Kevin), Rochelle Michna, Jeffrey Michna (wife Diana) and Traci Pettet (husband Bryan); great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Audrey, Gwendolyn, Rachel and Laurel. She was predeceased by her husband of 50+ years; and daughter, Marlene May Michna. There will be a memorial service at a later date.

NEEL -- Joyce Irene Sroka Neel, age 76 Albuquerque, passed peacefully on June 8, 2010 at her residence. She was born on May 5, 1934 in Pleasant Lake, North Dakota. After Pleasant Lake, she lived her early years in Rothsay and Moorhead, Minnesota. The family moved to Silver City, New Mexico in 1947, where she attended high school and Western New Mexico University. There, she met her husband, Robert. They were married in August, 1953 while he was in the USAF. While in the Air Force, they lived in Bryan, Texas and Tucson, Arizona. Joyce attended the University of Arizona while in Tucson. They returned to Albuquerque in 1957 and made their home there since. She also attended UNM. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Robert; children, Richard D. Neel of Albuquerque, Vickie L. and husband Kenneth Otto of Colorado, Deanna L and husband Bernard Saiz of Los Lunas; grandchildren, Leah A. Derence Otto and husband Paul Derence, Michael K. Otto, Stephen L. Saiz and Kristen M. Saiz; great-grandchildren, Ezra Nash and Lucas Derence; sisters, Elaine Shapiro of California and Janice Garrett of Albuquerque; brother, David Sroka of Albuquerque and several nieces and nephews. NIERI -- Anna Maria Nieri, 89, beloved aunt and friend was called home to the Lord on June 17, 2010 in Albuquerque, NM. Anna was born in Lucca, Italy to Luigi and Faustina (Frugoli) Lencioni. Anna moved to Albuquerque more than 60 years ago. She was an active member of the Elks with her husband Leo and loved to sing in Italian. Anna was preceded in death by her parents; and her loving husband Leo Nieri. She is survived by her nephews, Bruno Carrara and wife Joann and Pier Carrara and wife Barbara; and niece Giovanna Angeli and husband Giuliano of Lucca, Italy. Also surviving are her grand nieces and nephews and numerous extended family here and in Italy. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. OSBORNE -- Norma Osborne, a resident of Albuquerque since 1994, died Thursday, June 17, 2010. She is survived by her son James David Osborne Jr. of Lafayette, CO; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Norma is preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Annie Lathrope; her daughter, Donna L. Shook; and husband of 57 years, James D. Osborne Sr. She was born in New Milford, CT on October 11, 1927 and graduated from high school there. During World War II Norma worked in a parachute factory and then as an operator for the Southern New England Telephone Co. She and James were married on August 20, 1949. Norma enjoyed knitting, sewing, playing the organ, bridge, and singing. She was a loving wife and mother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. REINECKE -- Russell Henry, 80, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2010. He was born in Albuquerque, NM on May 16, 1930 to Harry and Linda (Theede) Reinecke. He was a life-long resident of Albuquerque, and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Russell was a US Army combat Veteran in the Korean War from 1951-53 with the 1st Calvary, 5th Regiment, Company G. He spent time in Japan during the occupation period of Japan. He received the Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Medal, Japan Occupation Medal, Korean War Medal and two Bronze Stars. He was a member of the American Legion Post 13, the National Korean Veterans Association, the 1st Cavalry Division Association, the New Mexico Korean Veterans Association Chapter #1, and the Minnesota Korean Veterans Association Chapter #1. He was also a member of the Edelweiss Rio Grande German American Club. Russell graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1949, where he lettered in ice hockey and the rifle team, and UNM in 1960. He had a 35 year career with APS, teaching at many schools, including Aztec, Arroyo del Oso, and S. Y. Jackson Elementary Schools. He loved teaching, and his enthusiasm for learning inspired generations of students. He was a member of the National Educators Association and the Wednesday & Thursday Teacher's Bowling League, and was president of the Teacher's Bowling League for over 50 years. Russell was a world traveler, both in the North and South Hemispheres. He had a gift for languages, and loved talking to people who know Japanese, Korean, Spanish, and even a little Hawaiian. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bowling, and he took pleasure in going out to eat and socializing with his many friends. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at French Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. The service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be next to his mother in Freeborn, MN. ROBART -- Rosemary (Rosa) Elva Robart, 83, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away at her daughter's home on Sunday, June 13, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. Rosemary was born on December 26, 1926, to Oreste (Popo) Giovanni Marteno and Dominica (Minnie) Riccon Marteno, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Myron C. Robart; son, David Robart and wife Lark; daughter, Myrene Eklund and husband, Roger; grandsons, Ryan Eklund and wife Betsy and Eric Eklund; great-granddaughter, Taylor Eklund; and one sister, Betty Lamberti. She also had many wonderful friends. Rosemary was a generous and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was a "second mother" to many neighborhood children, offering advice, support, and unconditional love to them through the years, and later became a "grandmother" to their children. She held various jobs throughout her early life, but mostly was a wonderful homemaker and cook. Everyone remembers her delicious cinnamon toast and French toast. She loved family gatherings and watching soap operas and discussing them with her dear friend, Mackie. Rosemary will be deeply missed by many. The family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff of the ER and 8th floor step-down unit of Lovelace Medical Center for their professional, respectful and compassionate care of Rosemary over the past year (especially the last 6 months during her numerous hospital admissions). Our heartfelt thanks go to VistaCare Hospice for the loving care they showed Rosemary and the comfort they provided Rosa and her family. A special thank you to Eliana L. Vehar, Chaplain, VistaCare, for her understanding, patience and comforting words, and to Lark Sheridan with Alliance Home Health Care for her gentle care, kindness and friendship.
