BAGI -- James Bagi (Jay), 43, beloved son and brother, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2006 in San Francisco, CA. Jay was born April 8, 1963 at Presbyterian Hospital to Mary Ann and Gus Bagi. He grew up playing on the mesas and in the arroyos around Albuquerque. Always with an interest in cooking, Jay began developing his talents as a chef locally. While living in San Francisco, he had a successful career at well known restaurants. Eventually, Jay opened his own restaurant in the city. Despite the difficulties of a protracted illness, he continued to grow, learn, and love. He met his death with grace and dignity. Jay will be missed. BILL -- Adam Brian Kermit Bill, a charismatic man of exceptional merit and intelligence, passed away October 26, 2006, he was 24. Adam Bill was born on August 7, 1982 in Port Hueneme, CA. He and his family moved to Albuquerque in 1990. Adam graduated from Del Norte High School in 2000, received his bachelor's in psychology from the University of New Mexico in 2004 and later attended St. Johns College in Santa Fe, where he pursued a graduate's degree in Western Classics. In this life, we all strive to attain success, but none so eloquently and so deliberately as Adam. His kindness, perseverance and sheer brilliance gained him the admiration of his peers and mentors, indeed of all that had the pleasure of knowing him. Armed with wit, humor, and romanticism he excelled above and beyond in all his endeavors. He was a dutiful son and caring brother who made his parents very proud. As a student at Del Norte High School he was actively involved in student government, Key Club, Boys State, Cross Country, Spanish Club among other clubs and service organizations. To each who knew him he was a source of light, and his illumination shall never be extinguished. Adam is survived by his parents, Tina and Derek; and his brothers, Aaron and Cameron. A Memorial Service will be held in his honor on Saturday, November 4, 2006, 11 a.m. at Los Volcanos Senior Center, 6500 Los Volcanos Rd. NW, Albuquerque. BURNS -- Kenneth James Burns, Jr. age 66, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2006. Kenneth retired from the Santa Fe railroad in 1995. He enjoyed snow-skiing, flying and hunting, but most of all he enjoyed children. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Burns; his son, Tracy Burns; and his grandson, Rocky Burns. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Sylvia Paden-Burns of Jarales; his daughter, Sherry Hamilton of Belen; and grandchildren, Renee and Daniel Hamilton of Belen, Amber Dawn Burns of Colorado, Melissa Hatten of Georgia, Destiny Jewel Burns of Nevada; one brother, Leroy Burns of Albuquerque; and one sister, Shirley Dandois of Albuquerque; special niece, Zanderia Kerns and her husband, Joshua of Belen; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. BUTLER -- Erwin D. Butler, age 84, of Rio Rancho, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, October 31, 2006. Erwin was born and grew up in Salem, NJ to William and Anna Mae Drummond Butler. He and his family lived in Pennsville, NJ for many years. After retirement from the DuPont Company, Erwin and Loretta relocated to Rio Rancho, where they most recently attended Mesa View United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Loretta; three sons, Denver Ray Mut, Donald L. Butler and his wife, Debbie Lindell, Mark E. Butler and his wife, Cecilia; grandchildren, Brandon, Nicole and Lucas. DURAN -- Carol Duran was born February 12, 1951 in Albuquerque, NM. She passed away tragically, Wednesday, November 1, 2006. Carol loved spending her free time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook. Carol will be missed dearly and she was a devoted "Nanny" to her grandchildren. HENNIG -- Eldon L. "Les" Hennig, age 81, of Albuquerque, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2006 at a local hospital. Mr. Hennig was born November 15, 1924 in Kansas City, MO to Traugott and Bertha Hennig. He married Donna M. Fisher on June 4, 1947 in Wellington, KS. She preceded him in death on August 7, 1995 after 48 years of marriage. Surviving are his sons, Gregory L. Hennig and his wife, Susan of Katy, TX, Phillip D. Hennig and his wife, Mary Ann of Wellington, KS, Randall L. Hennig and his wife, Gina, Stephen B. Hennig and his wife, Debra, Timothy J. Hennig and wife, Nancy, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Brent, Scott, Chantelle, Alyssa, Aaron, Shawna, Colby, Ryan, Eric, Michael, Tamara, and Andrew; and five great-grandchildren, Reilly, Wyatt, Mason, Megan, and Reid. Mr. Hennig was a WWII veteran serving in the Army having served in Greenland and Iceland as a radio operator. Mr. Hennig enjoyed flying single engine aircraft and playing the piano at an early age. He also enjoyed visiting with his friends. Though not outwardly expressive, his love towards his family was deeply felt. Though he lived much of his life in Albuquerque he always called Wellington, KS his home. He will be surely missed by all. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 6, 2006 at Our Risen Savior Catholic Community Church,. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. HUTCHISON -- Mary Hutchison, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2006. She was born November 10, 1926 to George and Cecile Garrison in Magdalena, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Lois Cantrell. KATZ -- David Nathan Katz, 98, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, October 30, 2006, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Frances of Albuquerque; children, Dr. Murray Katz and wife, Sali of Tucson, AZ and Dr. Michael Katz and wife, Dr. Marsha Bol of San Antonio, TX and Santa Fe, NM; grandsons, Mason Katz of San Diego, CA and Aaron Katz of Tucson; brother, Dr. Robert Katz of Denver, CO; sister-in-law, Leatrice Segal of Philadelphia, PA; loving nieces and nephews; many dear friends; and Carmen and Curtis Hudson, who cared for him lovingly in the last year of his life. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ann Levick and Jeanette Katelman. Like his father, a founder of Congregation B'Nai Israel, he was a longtime Congregation member. David was a lifetime member of B'Nai B'rith and a Shriner and Mason. Born in 1908 of Lithuanian immigrant parents in Des Moines, IA, David moved with his family to Albuquerque in 1916. After graduating from Albuquerque High School, he became purchasing agent for the U.S. Indian Service, where he coached football and basketball teams at the local Indian School. In the 1940s he was purchasing agent for a Japanese relocation center in Colorado, where he made lasting friendships with internees, and served in the U.S. Navy. David was the former owner of the Gizmo Store in Albuquerque. Upon retirement, David and Frances became world travelers; and they shared many trips with their family. He took up golf, which he played daily -- making a hole-in-one at age 85 -- until he was no longer able. He was a master of the pun and in late life the CRYPTOQUIP. He will remain forever in the hearts and memories of his family and friends. KELTNER -- Sharon Keltner, passed away after a short illness on October 31, 2006. She was born on November 18, 1942 in Lansing, MI to Alice and Kenneth Park. She is survived by her husband, Ned; their daughters, Amy Rogers (and son-in-law Will, Thornton, CO) and Mindy Koch (and son-in-law Larry, Albuquerque); three granddaughters, Morgan and Lauren Rogers, and Alix Koch; her sister, Mary Simon (Remus, MI); and her step-father, Lawrence Havens (Mecosta, MI). She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter, Coreen. Sharon met her husband-to-be in junior high school in Lansing; they married in 1961. After graduation, she started work at the headquarters of Oldsmobile in Lansing and rose to be an Assistant to the Sales Manager. After Ned graduated from college, they moved to Albuquerque in 1964. Once their daughters were well along in school, she started her own arts and crafts business, called Stitches 'n Stuff. Specializing in creative stitchery as well as custom clothing and design, she began selling her crafts with a group called Los Novicios. Sharon created the Santa's Sleigh Arts and Crafts Show and promoted it for 15 years before retiring. Happily, Santa's Sleigh continues under a new owner. Sharon was active with the Harmony Adult Class at Central Methodist Church for many years. She enjoyed camping and boating at Elephant Butte Lake with family and friends. She loved vacationing at the ocean, especially in Cabo San Lucas or San Diego. She was affectionately known as The Dessert Lady of the Albuquerque Boat Club and was elected their 2006 Sweetheart last February. MAREK -- Larry Marek, 71, a resident of Albuquerque for 26 years, died Tuesday, October 31, 2006. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lois Marek; son, Dan Marek; daughter, Deborah Vigil and husband, LeRoy; granddaughter, Mikayla Vigil; grandson, Justin Vigil; brothers, Tony Marek and wife, Irene. SALAZAR -- Rose E. Salazar, 95, passed away peacefully Monday, October 30, 2006. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Salazar; her sister, Cedelia Baca; and her brother in-law, Miguel Baca. Rose was born in Conejos, CO in 1911. Rose spent most of her life in Los Angeles, CA, moving there in 1939. Rose moved to Albuquerque in 1980 to help her sister with her ailing husband. Rose loved dancing, and would actively seek every opportunity to get out and pursue her passion. Rose loved life and made friends easily. Her outgoing personality enabled her to be loved by many. Rose is survived by her niece, Martha Duran; Noel M. Baca; and Robert O. Baca; along with many great-nieces and nephews. At Rose's request, her body will be donated to the UNM School of Medicine. SANCHEZ -- Richard A. Sanchez, 67, a resident of Albuquerque and formerly of Belen and Los Lunas, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2006, after several strokes during the last 4 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church in Albuquerque and Valencia Catholic Church. Richard proudly served his country in the Army and the National Guard. He was a barber in his younger days and worked for many years at the Los Lunas Training School. He was also a mailman in the Los Lunas area. Richard loved his fishing, dancing and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Sanchez and brother, John Sanchez. SHOCKLEY -- Mary Isabell Shockley, 90, an Albuquerque resident since 1998, died Tuesday, October 31, 2006. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Russell and husband, Bill of Albuquerque; son, Robert Shockley and wife, JoAnn of Ritzville, WA; grandchildren, Debi Smith of California City, CA, Donna Russell of Clovis, NM, Glen Russell and wife, Michele of Farmington, NM, Sandy Ybarra and husband, Gregg of Springfield, OR, Suzie Crapson and husband, Steve of Moses Lake, WA; seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers and sisters; and a grandson, Gary Russell. Mrs. Shockley was active in various civic organizations in Sunnyside, WA where she lived most of her adult life. She loved gardening, and the outdoors. She especially loved her family and friends and neighbors. Mary enjoyed traveling across the country and around the world to visit with her family. Mary was an avid crotcheter and quilter. VALENCIA -- Robert J. Valencia, age 53, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and Godfather, passed away unexpectedly as a result of an accident, Wednesday, November 1, 2006. Robert was a resident of Albuquerque; and a member of the Catholic Church. He was employed with La Farge for 15 years. Robert was a proud United States Air Force Veteran who served his country during the Viet Nam War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing; many considered Robert to be an avid outdoors man. Robert will always be remembered as a kind, loving and very personable man. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Valencia; and sister, Wanda Valencia. VAQUERA -- EZEQUIO A. Mr. Ezequio A. Vaquera, 87, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on November 2, 2006 peacefully at home with his family by his side. Mr. Vaquera is the beloved father to one daughter, Mercy Brown and two sons, Steve Vaquera, and Diane Sanchez, Antonio Vaquera and wife, Tomasita. Mr. Vaquera is also survived by his sister, Consuelo Arvillo and husband, Lolo; one brother, Edward Vaquera and wife, Rusy; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Vaquera was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Maria and a daughter, Veda Ruth Baca. Mr. Vaquera was a member of the Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW, from 3:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 4:00 p.m. by Blue Army. Final visitation will be Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by Monsignor Leo Gomez. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pedro Vaquera, Daniel Sanchez, Manuel Vaquera, Tacho Sanchez, James Archibeque, and Chris Trujillo. VIGIL -- Mela D. Vigil went to be with the Lord and to join her husband on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 in Albuquerque at the age of 74. She will be lovingly remembered for her magnetic personality and sense of humor. Mela was a "people person" with many friends. She was also an excellent cook. Mrs. Vigil was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Joe Lino Vigil; parents, Cipriano and Beatrice Dominguez; sisters, Alice and Evelyn; and her beloved grandmother, Mamage Hurtado. She is survived by her children, Beverly A. WOYWOOD -- Dennis J. Woywood, formerly of Elmhurst, IL and Cherry Hill, NJ, died in Albuquerque, NM on October 30, 2006, at the age of 72. He is survived by Gena Lou (nee Dove), his wife of 51 years; and sons, Warren, Derek, and Brett. Valedictorian of his class at Milwaukee School of Engineering, he received his Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania and was employed in the Government, Broadcast, and Defense divisions of RCA in New Jersey for 27 years before moving to Albuquerque in 1988. He worked for L&M Technologies and volunteered for Quality New Mexico and as a Master Gardner for the Bernalillo County Master Gardeners.
