ASHLEY -- Virginia B. Murphy-Ashley, 83, died Sunday, September 10, 2006 in Red Bank, NJ. She was born in Bramwell, WV. She was a 2nd Lt. in WWII, serving in the Army Nurse Corps. Mrs. Ashley retired as a nurse with the Veterans Administration in 1983. She lived the first half of her life in Virginia, before moving to New Mexico in 1964. She is survived by son, W.R. Murphy and wife, Juanita of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughter, Karen Cagnazzo and husband, Joseph Cagnazzo of Middletown, NJ; grandchildren, W.R. Murphy Jr., Wade R. Murphy of Centreville, VA, Joe Cagnazzo III, and Bubby Cagnazzo of Middletown, NJ; great-grandchildren, W.R. Murphy III, Kaitlyn Murphy, and Chase Murphy; brother, Edgar M. Bennett and wife, Jean of Spotsylvania, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ashley was an active member of Peralta Memorial United Methodist Church in Los Lunas, NM. Services will be held Monday, September 18, 2006, 9:00 a.m., at Peralta Methodist Church, 25 Wesley Rd. Peralta, NM, with Pastor David Blackwell officiating. Military interment will take place at 1:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. BRADFORD -- Ricki Lynn Bradford passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2006. A flower bud that has been picked by God to bloom in heaven and has been taken from us here on earth. A loving daughter, mother, sister, niece, cousin, and a dear friend, she will be greatly missed. Ricki Lynn Bradford has left us at an early age, age 33. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Louis P. and Lucy Martinez, William and June Bradford. Ricki Lynn is survived by her fiance, Michael Gutierrez; her children, Heather Martinez, Martha Gutierrez, and Nicholas Gutierrez; her mother, Diana Bradford and fiance, Joe Gonzales; her father, William Bradford II; her brother, Eloy and his wife, Sharon; sisters, Luci and her husband, Andrew, Ramona and her husband, Fred, Kristyn Marie Bradford and Katelyn Louise Bradford; her uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who loved and will miss her. CASH -- Beulah Adams Cash celebrated 101 years with her family, and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 12, 2006, in Las Cruces, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Adams; daughter, Portia Denton; and grandson, Dwight Lujan. Beulah is survived by her children, Ardell Adams, Norma Wessell, Larry Adams, and Wilma Lopez. She was blessed with 24 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Beulah was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Albuquerque for over 30 years, before joining Cornerstone Baptist Church in Las Cruces. CORDOVA -- Evangeline L. Cordova, age 84 and a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 9, 2006 while surrounded by her family. Mrs. Cordova is survived by he five sons: Hank Cordova, Gary E. Cordova, Ron Cordova and his wife, Janie, Don Cordova, all of Albuquerque, and Dennis Cordova and his wife, Colleen of Washington; one sister, Connie Gonzales; one brother, Calistro Garcia, both of Albuquerque; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A Memorial Services for Mrs. Cordova will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in Cross of Hope Lutheran Church, 6104 Taylor Ranch Rd. NW, with Pastor Dale G. Bauer officiating. ERNE -- Norma Potter Erne departed her earthly body on September 9, 2006. She was a resident of Albuquerque, NM for 50 years. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 48 years, Louis; daughter, Peggy Hughes (Tim); sons, Daniel Erne and Stuart Erne (Margay); grandsons, Seth Hughes, Max Erne, Caleb Hughes, and Jake Erne; nephews, Brad Potter and Drew Potter (Kathi); niece, Christine Torres; and scores of dear friends. She joins, in Eternity, her mother and father, Allen and Margaret Potter; her brother and sister-in-law, Max and Shirley Potter; and her aunt and uncle, Ruth and Victor Tuffentsamer. Norma was a member of Assistance League of Albuquerque for 30 years and enjoyed working at The Blue Portal and The Bargain Box. FOLEY -- Martha Boren Foley passed away peacefully on September 12, 2006 in her home following a long battle with COPD. She turned 80 on June 21, 2006. She was a good and loyal friend, a loving wife, and caring mother of five children and seven grandchildren, whom she loved deeply as we all loved her. She will be greatly missed. There will be a gathering of friends and family in remembrance of our mother to celebrate her long and joyful life at a later date. GUTIERREZ -- MARSHALL A. Lieutenant Colonel Marshall A. Gutierrez, age 41, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, NM, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2006. He was born on August 27, 1965 in Las Vegas, NM to the late Bobby Ray Gutierrez and Mary E. Abeyta. He was united in marriage to Brenda Atencio on January 7, 1984 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM. He was a Third Generation Military Serviceman. His father, Bobby Ray (Korean War) and grandfathers: Nicolas Abeyta (WWII in Europe) and Cipriano Maes (WWII in Asia). MONETTE -- WILLIE T. SR. On September 11, 2006 Willie T. (Bill) Monette Sr., 70, Cane River's own "Brother or Cracker Jack" left us after an extended illness. An Army veteran, he was a retired metallurgist from General Electric, an avid camper and quilter. He loved his family and friends, cooking and eating authentic Cajun foods, and his dogs - Jane's dog, Paco, and Sadie. He is survived by V. MOUNT -- Doris Lee Mount, age 67, of Albuquerque and Tucson, went home to be with Ashley, Lois, and the Lord in Heaven, Monday, September 11, 2006. Doris was a local artist of oil paintings. One of her paintings is displayed in the Arizona State Capitol, John Pellerito, M.D. office in Tucson, and Dr. Jessica Bigney's office at the University of New Mexico Family Practice. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and all of the people that she came in contact with. O'BRIEN -- KATHLEEN M. On the morning of Tuesday, September 12, 2006 Kathleen M. O'Brien (Katie) passed away at the age of 52 in Tucumcari, NM. All that knew her will miss her strong will and spirit. Born in New York on October 8, 1953, she moved with her new family to Rio Rancho in 1975. Katie has spent the last 10 years living out at Conchas Dam, NM with her husband, Ronnie. She is survived by her mother, Eleanor Heaney of Chama; her husband, Ronnie Chinberg of Conchas Dam; her brother, Keith Heaney of Hobbs; her daughter, Melissa Eavenson of Bernalillo; her son, Scott Dante of Hobbs; and three beautiful grandchildren: Amanda Eavenson, Savannah Dante, and Darion Kramer, all of Bernalillo. Per her wishes, she will be cremated and a private family gathering will take place in Chama to spread her remains. An Irish Wake will occur in the Albuquerque area for all friends and family that would like to celebrate her life. The time and place will be announced at a later date. We love you Katie!

O'HARA -- Joe O'Hara, 67, a resident of Albuquerque for 22 years, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2006. He is survived by his wife, Gina O'Hara; sons, Scott O'Hara and wife, Jill of Albuquerque and, Howard Spunt and wife, Melinda of Calabasas, CA; daughters, Lori Geisert and husband, Mark of Dallas, TX, Diane Ensey and husband, John of Camarillo, CA; grandchildren, Nicole, Jordan, Kyle, Molly, Nicki, Derek, Bryan, Katelyn, Gabrielle, Erin, and Jack; and sister, Kathy Moody and husband, Frank of Oxnard, CA. Mr. O'Hara was an avid fisherman, and a successful business man. He was a loving husband and father with a great sense of humor, he had an infectious laugh and was "bigger than life". RICE -- Beth Rhodes Rice, 79, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on September 13, 2006. She was born January 17, 1927 in Ashland, KS, to Mr. and Mrs. David C. Rhodes. She graduated from Ashland High School, then attended Colorado Women's College in Denver, CO, and graduated from the University of New Mexico. She was in the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority where she made many life-long friends. After marrying Albert Lebeck in 1948, she lived in Gallup, NM for many years, raising four children, Michael, Mary, Barbara, and David. She was a very active member of the McKinley County Hospital Auxiliary and enjoyed helping others. She moved to Albuquerque in 1977, was divorced and later married Frank E. Rice. Beth and Frank spent many happy years together traveling and enjoying family. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. John and Chapter AA - PEO. All who knew Beth knew that she was an avid sports fan. "Her teams" were the UNM Lobos, the Denver Broncos, and the Chicago Cubs. In 2003, she moved to La Vida Llena, where she was extremely happy. She was an active member of this caring community and made many wonderful friends. Beth was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend to so many and all who knew her were touched by her kindness and love. Beth was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents; her brother, David Rhodes; and her sister, Jean Bowser. Beth is survived by her four children and their spouses: Michael Lebeck of Beverly Hills, CA; Mary Lebeck and Nicholas Gentry of Albuquerque, NM; Barbara Lebeck and Ernie Arko of Albuquerque, NM; and David and Joyce Lebeck of Gallup, NM. She is also survived by her special friend and "daughter" Susan Allen Kosar of Colorado Springs, CO, and her special friends, Ike and Suzanne Barker Kalangis. She is also survived by her grandchildren: James Lebeck, Meredith Lebeck, Nathaniel Gentry, Lauren Gentry, Delinah Lebeck, Cory Lebeck, and Jennica Arko. Beth is also survived by her step-children and their spouses: Tim Rice of Seattle, WA; Phil and Margaret Rice of Palmdale, CA; Greg Rice of Casper, WY; Mark Rice of Palm Springs, CA; Dennis Rice of El Paso, TX; Mary Beth and Scott Fitzwater of Poderly, TX; and Katy Rice and Mike Donoghue of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren: Clair, Molly, and Nathan Rice; Bruce, Andy, and Beth Fitzwater; and Duncan and Connor Rice. Beth is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom live out-of-state. She was loved and will be terribly missed by all. RODRIGUES -- M. Teofilia Otruides Herrera Acosta Rodrigues, "Sophie", passed on to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 12, 2006. Teofila was born on October 22, 1908 in Sapello, NM. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ignacia Lujan Herrera; her father, Ignacio Montano Herrera; her step-mother, Escolastica Lucero Herrera; her brothers, Narciso Herrera, Vidal Herrera, Luis Herrera; an infant son, Jesse Acosta; her first husband, Alvaro Acosta; and her second husband, George M. Rodrigues. She is survived by her sister, Bessie Herrera Martinez; sons, Alexander Acosta and wife, Betty, Reuben N. Rodrigues and wife, Debi; daughters, Flora A. CdeBaca and husband, Leandro, Lilia A. LoPinto and husband, Ciro; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Teofila enjoyed traveling and had visited many parts of the U.S. and Mexico. She lived her early years in Las Vegas, NM and Pan, AZ and attended school in Ash Fork, AZ. She made her home in Greeley, CO, Estacion Morita, Chihuahua, Mexico, San Francisco, CA, Albuquerque, and Colorado Springs, CO. Teofila was a single parent for many years as well as a successful entrepreneur. She started her career in the restaurant industry by first being a waitress and chef then into management and eventually owning and operating two restaurants in Albuquerque. She had a loyal following and made many friends in her lifetime. Teofila was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She dedicated her life to serving the Lord and made it a point to pass this along to all she met in song and prayer. She will be missed and will be remembered for her strong and determined spirit. Good-bye Mom, we will see you on the other side. SOSAYA -- Frank Fidel Sosaya Jr. passed away on September 11, 2006. He was preceded in death by his wife, Serbie Sosaya; parents, Frank F. Sosaya Sr. and Andrea Sanchez; sisters, Helen and Dolores; and brother, Bobby Sosaya. Frank Jr. is survived by his sons: Frank David, Gilbert, Gene; daughters, Barbara Sosaya and husband, Colin Barton, Stephanie Sherman and husband, Brimmer; grandchildren, Brenton Barton and Brooke Sherman; brothers, Eddie, Raymond, Mannie, and Jimmy Sosaya. He is also survived by numerous relatives and friends who will miss him greatly. Frank served in World War II and Korea in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a journeyman and was a member of the Local 412 Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Union. Also, he served as a building inspector for the City of Santa Fe. He was an active member of the VFW and the American Legion. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the local VFW in Frank's name. A memorial Mass is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, September 15, 2006 at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Church with interment to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. STERLING -- David Christopher Sterling, beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away on September 9, 2006. David lived life in a grand way. Through his sensitive caring heart, thought of others before himself, gregarious storytelling and sense of humor, David touched all who knew and loved him. David's stories made you smile so hard your jaw ached, and laugh until your stomach hurt. David loved his friends and family, especially his granddad Albin with whom he enjoyed fishing and hunting. His "pop", Joseph Vertrees, meant the world to David, and was his strength and inspiration. The love of his mother, Janet Vertrees, gave David wings on which to soar in life. David and his older brother, Joey, were inseparable in their early years, sharing countless adventures. David adored his little sister, Sarah, and was always at the ready to protect her while growing up. David admired his sisters, Krystal and Marissa, and mentored them as they grew older. David and his countless friends formed an inseparable bond as they caroused and explored life.
