MARSHALL A. Lieutenant Colonel Marshall A. Gutierrez, age 41, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, NM, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2006. He was born on August 27, 1965 in Las Vegas, NM to the late Bobby Ray Gutierrez and Mary E. Abeyta. He was united in marriage to Brenda Atencio on January 7, 1984 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM. He was a Third Generation Military Serviceman. His father, Bobby Ray (Korean War) and grandfathers: Nicolas Abeyta (WWII in Europe) and Cipriano Maes (WWII in Asia). He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: Nicholas Abeyta; father: Bobby Ray Gutierrez; grandfather whom raised Marshall: Cipriano Maes; maternal grandmother: Mary Abeyta; sister-in-law: Catherine Atencio-Segura; nephew: Christopher Gallegos; cousins: Freddie Lujan and Rachel Abeyta. He is survived by his wife: Brenda A. Gutierrez of Las Vegas, NM; son: Nicholas Gutierrez and girlfriend, Amy; daughter: Stephanie Gutierrez and boyfriend, Raul; granddaughter: Destiny Jade Pena all of Fayetteville, GA; mother: Mary E. "Bella" Gutierrez; sister: Sharon Gonzales; brothers: Gilbert Abeyta and Patrick Gutierrez; father and mother-in-law: Joe and Mary Ann Atencio; maternal grandmother: Antonia Maes all of Las Vegas, NM; sisters-in-law: Josie Torres and husband, David of Espanola, NM; Reina Gallegos and husband, Tim; Mary Louise Lovato and husband, Ernest; brother-in-law: Jason Atencio and fiancee, Shelly, all of Las Vegas, NM; nieces: Holly Gonzales, Shannon Romero, Pamela Gallegos, Alyssa Atencio, Brittany Lovato, Samantha and Krysten Romero, and Isabella Gutierrez; nephews: David Gonzales, Thomas Gonzales, Joshua Torres, Jordan, Jared, J.J., and Isaih Atencio, Patrick Gutierrez Jr., and Matthew Gutierrez; aunts and uncles: Henry Abeyta and wife, Evelyn, Lloyd Abeyta and wife, Julia, Margie Gonzales and late husband, Ernest, and Josephine Lujan, all of Las Vegas, NM, and Nash Gutierrez; cousins: Michael, Marie, Tina, Nicole, Henry Jr., Karen, and Paul; numerous other relatives; many friends from the Las Vegas area and world wide. Rosary Devotional Services will be conducted on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at the Rogers Chapel and also Sunday, September 17, 2006 at 8:00 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church. Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, September 18, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church with Father C. John Brasher as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. with full military honors. He will lie in state at the Rogers Chapel on Saturday and Sunday all day until time of Rosaries where family and friends may call.
