BAILEY -- Marguerite Barbieri Bailey passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2005. She was born in Albuquerque, May 8, 1922. In 1955, after her marriage to Donald J. Bailey, Sr., they moved to San Antonio, TX. He preceded her in death in September 1984. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Domenico and Caterina B. Barbieri. She was a graduate of the old Albuquerque High School and attended Western Business School. Marguerite was an accountant for many years for Montezuma Wholesale/Kimbell's Grocery in Albuquerque. She later owned and operated a children's shop in San Antonio, TX for many years. Marguerite is survived by her son, James D. Bailey, Jr. and wife, Mary; grandsons, JD Bailey, III and Robert James Kinsey both of San Antonio, TX; brother, Johnny D. Barbieri; sisters, Rose Barbieri, Mary Yolanda Hewitt, Virginia Mayfield and Albina Mock; and many nieces, nephews and cousins, all of Albuquerque. She will be greatly missed by all of her loving family. Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper NW. Interment will follow at Mt. BLACKSHERE -- Paula Blackshere, 92, lifelong resident of Golden, New Mexico, died Sunday, September 11, 2005. She is survived by three sisters, Mary Jo Pino of Cienega, Clara Mae Baca of Albuquerque, and Julia Gurule of Albuquerque; two God-daughters, Marie Trigg Kelly and Jeannie Lujan; and Sammy Padilla whom she was raised with and considered him as a brother; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Clara Davis and her aunt and uncle who raised her, Felicita and Sam Padilla, and by two brothers and four sisters. Mass will be celebrated, Thursday, September 15, at 2:00 p.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 619 Copper NW. CARMIGNANI -- Susan Elaine Carmignani, age 59 passed peacefully on Saturday, September 10, 2005 at Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital - Hospice Unit after battling with breast cancer for 121/2 years. She grew up in Pierce City, MO and earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from University of Missouri, Kansas City in 1967. She then worked as a pharmacist in Albuquerque, NM, Tallahassee, FL, Spruce Pine, NC, and Santa Fe, NM. She concluded her 35-year career in the city where she started: Albuquerque, NM. In 1994 she earned a Master of Science degree in Nutrition from the University of New Mexico. Susan was a breast cancer survivor facilitator for many years following her initial remission. Due to her desire to find a cure and her abilities as an accomplished scholar, she was a consumer reviewer for the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program for several years as well. This alone speaks volumes of her character and her regard for the welfare of those around her. She was a loving and devoted wife of George Carmignani, who still resides in Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by son, Craig Keith Carmignani, married to Tina, daughter, Suzanne Elise Ortiz, married to Michael, and son, Jon Patrick Carmignani. She has three granddaughters, Celeste Marie Carmignani, AnaLisa Miquela Ortiz, and Elena Clorinda Ortiz. She was preceded in passing by her father, Keith H. Stotts, who lived in Pierce City, MO. Her mother, Helen Stotts, currently resides in Springfield, MO. Her brother, Bill and his wife Pat Stotts also reside in Springfield, MO. Their daughter Jerri-Ann Stotts and her partner Ron Travis live in Linn Valley, KS. Susan's ashes will be present at the memorial services, to be held on Tuesday September 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel of the Sunrise, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. N.E. Albuquerque, NM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital - Hospice Unit, 8300 Constitution Ave. N.E. 87110. CORDOVA -- SAMUEL G. Mr. Samuel G. Cordova, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on September 10, 2005. Mr. Cordova is the beloved husband to Mrs. Helen Cordova, married for 36 years. Mr. Cordova is also survived by three daughters, Sherry Robinet and husband, Bud Coloroso, Patricia Cassady and husband, Harry, Dianne Cordova and husband, Manuel Duran; two step daughters, Kathy Fry and husband, Kent and Mary Ann Castellano; one son, Tom Montoya and wife, Julie; one sister, Marcella Anaya; one brother, Vincent Cordova and wife, Della; his beloved pet, Buffy; 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Cordova was preceded in death by his parents, Atilano and Donnica Cordova; two sisters, Carmen Lucero and Theresa Mora; two step sons, Laurence Montoya and Anthony Montoya. Mr. Cordova was a member of the Catholic Churh, a veteran of the U. S. Air Force serving in World War I I, Albuquerque Fire Department and Captain of the Bernalillo County Sheriff Dept. for over 30 years. He was loved dearly and will be missed greatly. A visitation for Mr. Cordova will be Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at The Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 1800 Martha N.E. with a Communion Service to be held at 10:30 a.m. by Deacon Byron Wicker. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. with Military Honors by Vince Cordova and the D.A.V. Post 69. FRAZIER -- Emily S. Frazier, 50, a resident of Los Lunas, NM passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2005, after a short battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Jerry R. Frazier of Los Lunas; three children, Jerry J. Frazier of Albuquerque, Andrew A. Frazier and Wendy E. Frazier and special friend, Randall Trujillo, all of Los Lunas; seven loving grandchildren, Evelyn, Devin, Faith, Angelica, Derik, Jerry Jr., and Anthony; mother, Juanita Dziedzic; sister, Cathirn Skillern; brother, Robert Dziedzic; and many special friends. Emily enjoyed caring for her seven grandchildren during any time of need. She had a passion for business, where she was always serving the public. HESCH -- Isabel Gonzales died peacefully at home in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, on Saturday morning, September 10, 2005 at the age of 109. A precious one from us has gone A voice we love is stilled A place is vacant in our home Which can never be filled. Isabel was born in Pecos, NM on October 31, 1895 and lived most of her life in Santa Fe. She is survived by her daugthter, Lena Mares Avila and granddaughter, Lucy Evans Gray of the family home; her son, Eddie Mares of Albuquerque; nine other grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren. She survived her first born sons, William Mares. There are hundreds if relatives throughout the nation as she was the one of 14 children, and the last one to die. A History of the Gonzales Family, compiled by a favorite grand-niece, Victoria Gonzales, was published this year, which chronicles this extensive and varied family. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, September 16, 2005 at 9 a.m., at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 9502 4 th St. NW at Alameda in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, with a reception to follow at the Church hall. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place at a later date. JACOBSON -- Emil DeWitt 1916 - 2005 Emil DeWitt "Jake" Jacobson, Cdr. U.S.N.R., age 88, a resident of Albuquerque, NM and formerly of Belen, NM, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2005. He was born on September 21, 1916 in Provo, UT to Emil Jacob and Daisy Irene Trotter Jacobson. Jake graduated from Utah State with a degree in Forestry. He was a naval pilot during WWII and retired from the FAA as the Area manager of the Southwest Region. Jake was a loving father, an excellent golfer, and a kind and gentle spirit. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Holmes; sister, Fawn Wyatt; brothers, Mack and Keith Jacobson; and son-in-law, Paris Murphy. Jake is survived by his daughters, Jan Jacobson of San Francisco, CA, and Jill Murphy of Albuquerque, NM; sister, Deanne Peters and her husband, Jerry of Salt Lake City, Utah; and dear friend, Vernetta J. Brandow of Albuquerque. Special thanks to all those at Haven Care and The Cottages who provided so much love and care during his life. LABASTIDA -- Jorge LaBastida, 56, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away with his family by his side on September 10, 2005 at Kaseman Hospital. Jorge was born on April 18, 1949 to Esther Labastida in Mexico City, Mexico. He was employed by Casa Chevrolet as a courier. He was also a member of the Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. He was predeceased by his mother in 2002. He is survived by his wife, Maria Labastida; his sons, Edgar, Johnny and his wife, Monica, and Francisco Labastida; his daughter, Ivoone Labastida, all of Albuquerque; his brother Enrique, and his wife, Juana; his sisters, Elisa Gijon, and her husband, Ignacio, Aurora Villanueva, also of Albuquerque and Yolanda Gonzalez, and her husband, Roberto, of Mexico City, Mexico; his grandchildren, Annalisha, Cesar, Hannah, Dylan, Alejandro, and Nicholas Labastida, all of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, wonderful father, and proud grandfather. The family would like to thank Kaseman Hospice for their great care and support during this difficult time. OTERO -- David Otero April 5, 1934 to September 13, 2000 My Dear Dad, It has now been five years that God called you home, your pain is gone, and your at peace. I know the saying goes having a child, is the hardest pain a woman can go through, and the easiest to get over, it's true but the pain of losing a love one you never get over. Dad a day doesn't go by without a thought or a conversation about you, your granddaughter Noelle is always telling the family how she looks like her Papa David, and it's true. PARKHURST -- Peggy Jeanne, 63, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 10, 2005. She died peacefully at the Kaseman Presbyterian Hospice unit, surrounded by her family. Peggy graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1960. She moved to Grants, NM in 1968 with her husband and children to pursue a business opportunity. She was active in the family business for several years. Peggy was a creative person and had many artistic hobbies. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed the outdoors and her precious pets. But her greatest love in life was her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and "Grammy." There were many family vacations with her children and grandchildren filled with fun and laughter. Her grandchildren were precious to her and she never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. It was her strong love of life and family that sustained her through a courageous 7 1/2 year battle with ovarian cancer. Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Phil, of Grants; two children, Kevin Parkhurst and wife, Andrea, and Lori Galves and husband, Gus of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Eric and Devin Galves, and Amber Parkhurst; brothers, Gary Sloan of Los Lunas and Don Sloan of Petaluma, CA. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice Sloan Fulton, and father, Millard Sloan. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE, 87112. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. RAEL -- HELEN RAEL, formerly of Santa Fe, currently of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2005 following a courageous battle with cancer. Graduated 1978 from Santa Fe High School, 1st year at the College of Santa Fe, NMSU Business Administration (Bachelors) minor in accounting, received a teaching degree at UNM, she taught keyboarding and accounting at Santa Fe High School. She was preceded in death by her father, Trinidad Silva; grandmother, Rosarito Silva; uncle, Arthur Lucero; cousin, Anita Lucero; cousin, Sammy Lucero; uncle, Leroy Silva; and aunt, Erlinda Chavez. She is survived by her loving husband, Michael Rael; children, Amanda, Nick, Angelique (Honey); mother, Connie Smith; siblings, David Silva and wife, Felice, Steve Silva and wife, Eileen, Theresa Montoya; and in-laws, Alice Rael and Mel Rael; among numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and other in-laws, dear friends. ROSE -- Marjorie Isenberg Rose, age 78, of Albuquerque, NM former resident of Lafayette, IN, died on September 12, 2005. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul O. Rose. She is survived by her daughter, Alice Kilgo and husband, Riley, of Albuquerque and her son, Fred Holmes and his wife, Stephanie of Midland, TX. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Sean Kilgo and Timothy Holmes of Albuquerque and Michelle Holmes of Midland, TX. Marjorie was born on August 23, 1927 in Tyrone, PA. She graduated from Purdue University in 1949 and attended graduate school. Upon graduation, she was employed by Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. Marjorie then became Cafeteria Manager of Senior High School in West Lafayette, IN. In Albuquerque, she was employed by UNM Hospital for 18 years as a Dietitian Assistant, retiring in 1994. She was most recently employed by the Specialty Shop and also taught cookie-making classes. Marjorie loved baking and cooking for family and friends. She won numerous awards for baking from the New Mexico State Fair. Most recently she was a judge at the State Fair in the cookie division. SEPULVEDA -- ZULMA. Mrs. Zulma Sepulveda, 58, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on September 11, 2005. Mrs. Sepulveda is the beloved wife to Mr. Esteban Sepulveda Sr., married for 39 years. Mrs. Sepulveda is also survived by her sons, Esteban Sepulveda Jr., Edwin Sepulveda and Michael Sepulveda; one grandson, Joseph Alfredo Sepulveda; her parents, Alfredo and Anna Pagan; two brothers, Edwin Pagan and Al Pagan; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Luis Pagan. Mrs. Sepulveda was a member of the Catholic Church. SMITH -- Robert Thomas Smith, 24, a lifetime resident of New Mexico, who spent most of his life in Rio Rancho, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2005. Robert was born December 29, 1980 the son of Frank Lewis and Evelyn Dianne Sandoval Smith, III in Albuquerque. He had been a craftsman in the cabinetmaking industry before his death. Robert is survived by his parents, Frank and Evelyn Smith of Rio Rancho; three brothers, Frank Smith IV and his wife, Laura of Rio Rancho, Edward Smith and his wife, Tonya of Rio Rancho, and Chris Smith of Rio Rancho; nieces, Brytney, Alisha, and Amanda; grandparents, Eppie and Sisto Sandoval of Cuba, NM; aunts and uncles, Mary Sue Erramouspe and husband, John of Santa Theresa, NM, Mike Smith and wife, Helen of Las Cruces, Charles Smith of Roswell, Sisto Sandoval and wife, Carla of Denver, CO, Rudy Sandoval and wife, Belinda of Bartlesville, OK, Mary Sandoval of Cuba, NM, Esther Hernandez and husband, Mark of Albuquerque, and Roydan Soder; numerous cousins; and his best friend, Chopper. SUGGS-LAWLER -- Anna Lee Suggs-Lawler went home to be with the Lord on September 11, 2005 at the age of 63. She was born on April 24, 1942 in San Diego, CA. Anna was a resident of New Mexico since 1983 and was a registered nurse for 30 years. She was a caring and loving person and loved traveling, gardening and collecting antiques. Anna loved her two dogs, Corkie and Sandie. She is preceded in death by her father, Maurice G. Baldwin. Anna is survived by her husband, Daniel Lawler; mother, Bertha M. Baldwin; son, Douglas Suggs; daughter, Sarina Pellegrini; sister, Joyce Cook and Ellen Ackerman and her grandchildren, Shana and Jarrod Pellegrini. She will be missed by all. TELLES -- Cecilia Padilla, age 79, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday September 11, 2005 surrounded by her loved ones. Cecilia was born in San Pedro, NM. She and her beloved "Honey" Angel G. Telles lived in Hanover, NM; Bisbee, AZ, Palo Alto, CA and in 1960 moved and made their home and business in Albuquerque. Like her patron saint, she had a passion for music. She played the guitar, piano, accordion and organ. Cecilia loved music and loved to sing. Cecilia and her husband who predeceased her, met each other when he asked her to teach him how to play guitar; but actually he just wanted to meet Cecilia. Cecilia was preceded in death by her husband, Angel G. "Honey" Telles, her brother, Lorenzo Padilla; and her granddaughter, Michelle Y. Telles. She is survived by her son, Richard H. Telles and his wife, Bette; daughter, Erlinda Telles Montoya and husband, Steve Montoya; son, Angel P. Telles and his wife, Julianne; sons, Edmund Telles, and Orlando Telles; and brother, Ricardo Padilla. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Andrew Telles, Angel Rae Telles, Charelle Telles, Jeremy Garcia Telles, Bryan Telles, Raquel Robertson, Niquole Telles, Loren Telles, Steven Brown, David Aguilar; and great-grandchildren, Liliana Telles, Kaden Telles, Adam Telles and Vendola Telles; and many loving cousins. The family would like to thank Presbyterian Kaseman Hospice for their gentle care and support. Also her precious neighbors who came over and made her feel comfortable. Visitations will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served after the Rosary in the Celebration of Life Room also at Garcia Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricardo Padilla, Ernesto Tellez, Steve Montoya, Bryan Telles, Loren Telles, Jeremy Garcia-Telles and Rosendo Griego. Honorary pallbearers will be Silveria Molina, Mary Pino, Raquel Robertson, Niquole Telles, Cherelle Telles and Julianne Telles.
