ARMIJO -- Mr. Fred M. Armijo, 72, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on October 10, 2004. Mr. Armijo is the beloved husband to Mrs. Priscilla Armijo, married for 52 years. Mr. Armijo is also survived by his children, Sophie Kittredge and husband, Tony, Fred Armijo, Jr. and wife, Margie, Clifford Armijo and wife, Clara, and Annette Armijo; six granddaughters; five grandsons; and nine great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Armijo was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Ann Jackson; and a sister, Joann Ainsworth. Mr. Armijo was a member of the Catholic Church. A visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:30 p.m to 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Gabriella Nieto. A final visitation will be Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. BOND -- F. L. "Roy" Bond left this life on October 8, 2004. He was a loving husband and father who was an exemplary role model for his children, and he will be cherished in our hearts forever. Roy was born in Junction City, Oregon on August 16, 1921 to Grace Smith and Roy Bond. He attended Glide schools until his graduation in May, 1938. After graduation he worked for the US Forest Service and attended Oregon State in the Forestry School, and he was a member of the Rowing Team both Freshman and Varsity. In 1942, he entered the Army and was accepted into Officer's Candidate School. In 1943, he was commissioned as a second Lieutenant, Field Artillery, in Fort Sill, OK. He spent time at Camp Roberts, CA and then was assigned to the 76th Field Artillery. From there, he was sent to England and Utah Beach, France; then he was sent to Belgium and the Battle of the Bulge. Next he was deployed to Germany and across the Rhine on the Remagen Bridge, and by May of 1945, he was in Czechoslovakia. In a staging area in Germany he was getting ready for the invasion of Japan, when the atom bomb was dropped. Before the War ended he had attained the rank of Captain, and he was awarded the Bronze Star and four Battle Stars. After WW2, Roy returned to the Forest Service and also decided to complete his degree. He graduated from Oregon State U. with a BS in Forestry. His first assignment was as a Ranger in Tiller, Oregon, but his career took him to New Mexico, Georgia, and Washington, D.C. where he served as the Deputy Chief of Resources until his retirement in 1979. Roy lived his life with dignity and moral conviction. His presence will live in our hearts, and his family takes great pride that he was ours during his time on earth. Roy belonged to Forest Service Retirees and was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. He was also active in Masons and Shriners (the Unit of Greeters) and a member of Jesters, and many other organizations. Roy is survived by his wife, Thelma and four children Linda Gundiler and husband Abe, Bill Bond and wife Kathy, Bob Bond and wife Rita, Jerry Brown, and one daughter, Brenda, deceased. There are six grandchildren Wendy Foster and husband Jason, Karen Bond, Allison Bond, Steven Brown, Stephanie Brown and Justin Koch. Three Step-grandchildren Bryan, Dale, and Darrin Koch, and one great-grandson, Isaac Foster. Other survivors include: Vi Holmes, Betty Kopecky, Dorothy Gooch, Joan and Tom Montgomery, Curtis and Phyllis Crane. Services will be held at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel on Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Roy will be buried at Santa Fe National Cemetery following the ceremony. DAVIDSON -- Frances Ruth Davidson, age 82, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2004 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born October 12, 1921 in Kansas to Samuel and Cleo Richardson Waldorf. Frances was a longtime member of the Latter Day Saints Sage Ward in Albuquerque and retired from the Albuquerque Public Schools where she was an administrative assistant for the Elementary schools. She was loved by the community, church, and family who will miss her dearly. Preceding her death was her husband, Lester Earl Davidson. Survivors include; two daughters, Debra Davidson, Dina Reid and husband Charles; one son, Daryl Davidson, all of Albuquerque; Eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held Monday, October 11, 2004 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, Albuquerque, NM. DUKE -- Mary Charlotte Duke, 49, returned to her Father in Heaven on October 8th 2004. Her departure was sudden, and unexpected. Although the pain of her loss is great, her family takes solace in the knowledge that she was happy. With a warm glow she made everyone around her smile. She was a living example of Christ like love. With a warm heart she made everybody know what love was. She was a mother to all that knew her, everyone called her Mom. She will always be our Mom. She is survived by her two grateful and loving sons, Chris, and Tim; her daughters in-law, Monique, and Rosalie; her four grandchildren, Ceili, Tanzen, Bella, and Jonathan; and her life long friend Wayne Duke. GREENLUND -- Helmer Alphonse Greenlund, born in Korsnas, Finland on February 11, 1922, died on Saturday morning, October 9, 2004 at West Mesa Hospital. He is survived by his wife Margaret, daughter Diane Flynn, her husband Ed and daughter Elizabeth Farlie, her husband Brent and two sons, Morgan and Devin. He was the oldest of five children, and his brothers, Henry and John Greenlund and sisters, Elna Fouquet and Barbara Houle are currently living with their families on the East Coast. Helmer, who went by the name "Al," was fond of saying that he was just an "old sea dog of the black gang" in reference to his happy days as an engine room machinist on the baby aircraft carrier "Correigador." He left the navy and worked for many years as a precision machinist building aircraft engines for Pratt and Whitney. His cremains will be scattered over the ocean by the Neptune Society of California, and all who knew him are asked to raise a toast to him at sunset on Thursday October 14th to say a final bon voyage. We all love and miss you!

HOGG -- Gertrude May Hogg, 95, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, October 11, 2004. She is survived by her niece, Cheryl Groebner and husband, Jerry; nephew, Thomas S. Hogg, III; beloved friend, Merle Mitchell; great nieces Lisa Mayhill of Santa Fe, Paige Lewis of Los Lunas and Carrie Staller of Denton, TX. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas S. Hogg, Jr. and Jack Hogg and sisters, Agnus Hogg and Eleanor Hogg. Gertrude was born Thursday, August 12, 1909 in Newark, NJ to Thomas and Gertrude Hogg. She grew up in Kearney, NE and graduated from Kearney State Teachers College. The family moved to Albuquerque in 1934. Gertrude worked as an insurance underwriter for Fireman's Fund Insurance Company for 35 years. She was elected regional director of the National Association of Insurance Women in 1957. Gertrude was a Charter Member and elder of Immanuel Presbyterian Church. She served as Choir member, Church School teacher, deaconess, historian and organizer of "HymnStrollers" a ministry to those in nursing homes. Gertrude was also a member of Martineztown House of Neighborly Service Auxiliary and a long time supporter of UNM Athletics and the Albuquerque Symphony. Services will be held Thursday, October 14, 2004, 2:00 pm at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 114 Carlisle with Pastors Chris and Joyce Lieberman officiating. Interment will take place at 12:30 p.m., prior to the service, at Fairview Cemetery. HUDSON -- Edna Mandell Hudson, 75, a resident of Albuquerque since 1962, died Saturday, October 9, 2004. She is survived by her husband, Ralph W. KNUDSON -- Russell Knudson passed away at his residence in Portales on Monday morning, October 11, 2004. Russell was born in Blanket, Texas to Russell and Thelma Knudson on May 15, 1926. He received an early graduation and diploma from Farley High School in 1945 so that he could enlist in the war effort. He was a bombardier for the US Navy Air Corps and served in the Pacific Theater. In 1947, Russell returned to the University of New Mexico where he met and married Jeanne Scott. After graduating from UNM, he served as the school principal and coach for the Farley New Mexico Schools until 1960. Russell was a coach and High School principal for the Portales School System in the mid 1960s and early 1970s. He was the Raton Public School Superintendent from 1972 - 1985. After his retirement from the Raton School System, he was admitted to and enrolled at the University of San Francisco School of Law. Health problems prevented him from the completion of his law degree. He was active in a variety of civic and community functions. He served as the Vice President of the New Mexico Activities Association. He was a Director for the University of New Mexico alumni Association. The New Mexico Senate confirmed Russell as a member of the Commission for Higher Education where he was an active supporter of Higher Education and in particular Eastern New Mexico University. At the time of his death he was a member of the New Mexico Supreme Courts Judicial Performance Evaluation Committee. Russell was a Mason and member of Lodge No 45, as well as a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. At the local level, Russell was a member of and former chairman of the City of Portales Recreation Committee, the Roosevelt County Labor Relations Board and the ENMU Bench Club. He attended Third and Kilgore Church of Christ. Russell was well known in the community as an avid sports fan as he attended and supported all local sporting events. Russell was a member of the 1949 Maloof AAU State Basketball Championship team and played in the national tournament in Kansas City. Mr. Knudson's wife, Jeanne, passed away in 1990. On December 27, 1992 he was married to Wilma Roberts. He and his wife, Wilma, loved to travel both in the US and internationally. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Julie Bankson, as well as his wife, Jeanne. He is survived by his loving wife, Wilma; a son, Roger Knudson and wife, Laura Neack of Newport, KY; a son, Randy Knudson and wife, Laura of Portales; a son-in-law, Jim Bankson and wife, Mandy of Santa Rosa, CA; step-sons, Donnie Roberts and wife, Linda of Clovis, Ron Roberts and wife, Cindy of Hobbs, and Monte Roberts of Rio Rancho, Alan Roberts and wife, Selena of Portales; eight grandchildren; and 16 step-grandchildren. Russell was well loved and will be missed. A memorial service to honor his joyous life will be held on Saturday, October 16 at 10:30 a.m. at the Third and Kilgore Church of Christ in Portales. David Bennett will officiate, assisted by Marshall Stinnett and Steve Doerr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friends of Eastern New Mexico University Foundation.

LACARRUBBA -- Tina Ann LaCarrubba, 50, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 24 years, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2004. Tina was born April 21, 1954, the daughter of Theodore J. and Agnes Marie Little VanBastian in Reno, Nevada. Tina had been a buyer in retail sales before her death. She was preceded in death by one brother, Theodore Van Bastian, Jr. in 1981. Tina is survived by her parents, Theodore and Agnes VanBastian; three sisters, Cheryl Sharp, Beth Lane, and Linda Cooner; one brother, Steven Van Bastian; and several nieces and nephews. Private family services have been held. LEDOUX -- Gilbert J. LeDoux, 67, went home to be with the Lord on October 10, 2004. He was born on July 20, 1937 in Maxwell, New Mexico. Mr. LeDoux is survived by his wife, Becky LeDoux; sons, Gilbert M. LeDoux and wife, Robin, Martin J. LeDoux and fiancee, Vicki Calvert, and Albert J. LeDoux and wife, Amanda; daughters, Melissa P. LeDoux and Jolene Y. Pino and husband, Phillip; brother, Severino LeDoux, Jr. and wife, Tercila; sisters, Lillian Gelsinger, Cordelia Jaramillo, Louise Sanchez, and husband Gillie, Isabel Gelsinger and Florence Moya and husband, Triny; and seven grandchildren. Gilbert will be deeply missed by his loving family. PANOWSKI -- John Bruce (Jack) Panowski, 88, died September 14, 2004 in Albuquerque. He was born July 2, 1916, to Joseph E. and Mildred A. (Wagstaff) Panowski in Antioch, IL. In 1941 Jack received his B.E. degree with honors and a major in chemistry from Northern Illinois University. During WWII he worked at the Hoosier Ordinance Plant in Jeffersonville, IN and the B. F. Goodrich Synthetic Rubber Plant in Louisville, KY. In 1943 he married Eileen Thompson. After the war they moved to Los Alamos and Jack worked as a chemist at LASL from 1947 to 1977, at which time he retired and they moved to Albuquerque. Jack was predeceased by his parents; and his three sisters, Gladys Darnaby, Elsie Horton, and Ruth Gaston. He is survived by Eileen, his wife of 61 years; his four children and their families---Tom Panowski and Jeannie Moore, Bruce Panowski and Lyndi Hubbell and grandsons; Siler and Jonah Panowski, Lynn and Norbert Ensslin, and Daryl Lopez and grandchildren, Daniel and Angelina Lopez. A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Chapel of the Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper, NE, Albuquerque on October 16 at 2 p.m. A reception will follow. PETTIT -- Miriam K. Pettit, 49, of Moriarty , passed away of October 9, 2004 in Albuquerque. Miriam was born on September 5, 1955 in Fort Sumner to Merrill and Ruby Frances Larson. She has lived in Moriarty for 20 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Moriarty. Miriam had worked as an accountant with Monarch Properties and was an avid bicyclist. Her family remembers her most as a wonderful wife, sister, and daughter. Miriam is preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Frances, in 1994. She is survived by her husband, Richard of Moriarty; her father Merrill and step-mother Lois of Moriarty. She is also survived by three brothers, Arley Larson of Maryville, Missouri, Raymond Larson of Brownfield, Texas and H.C. "Shorty" Larson of Georgetown, Colorado. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 11, 2004 at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Moriarty. REYNOSO -- Mr. Jesus G. Reynoso, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on October 10, 2004. Mr. Reynoso is the beloved husband to Mrs. Carmen Reynoso, married for 61 years. Mr. Reynoso is also survived by his loving children, Antonia Padilla and husband, Jesus, Jose Reynoso and wife, Carmen, Raul Reynoso and wife, Martha, Martin Reynoso and wife, Aimee; one sister, Maclovia Gonzales; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Reynoso was a member of the Catholic Church, was very proud to be a lifetime member of the Laborers International Union of North America Local #300 and he was even prouder to be a naturalized American Citizen. A visitation for Mr. Reynoso will be Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church, 5901 St. Joseph Place NW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Martha Romero and the Legion of Mary. RICHMOND -- Dorothy Mae (Bergman) Richmond, 73, of Rio Rancho, NM, died Friday Oct. 8, 2004 after a 20 year battle with breast cancer. She was born August 7, 1931 in Harvey, IL. She graduated from East Aurora High School in 1949 and lived in St. Charles, IL for 19 years. She then lived in the Irving, TX area for 22 years. Her final residence for 8 years was Rio Rancho, NM. She married Howard Richmond in 1951. They were divorced in 1982. Dorothy, also known as "Dot," was a highly skilled avid bridge player and teacher. She also enjoyed golfing, ballroom dancing, and playing piano. She was an active member of the St. Andrew Scottish Society of New Mexico and previously a member of Kiwanis International and the American Business Women's Association. She is preceded in death by her son, Dennis Richmond. She is survived by her daughter, Heather ODaniel; three grandsons, Jason (wife Junne) of Seattle, WA, Courtney (wife Kristin) of Denver, CO, and Matthew (wife Jennifer) of Albuquerque, NM; and two great-grandchildren, Ashleigh and Michael. A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, Oct 13, 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 14, from 2-3 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. All services take place at Sunrise Funeral Options Chapel at 2400 Southern Blvd in Rio Rancho. TAFOYA -- Mercedes "Martha" Tafoya, 91, went home to be with the Lord on October 7, 2004. She was born on January 14, 1913 in Trinidad, CO. Visitations will be held on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served after the Rosary in the Celebration of Life Room also at Garcia Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. TURRIETTA -- Rosella Turrietta (Nana), 88, a life long resident of Albuquerque, died Oct. 8, 2004. She is preceded in death by her beloved children, Virginia Becera, and Cresencio Turrietta Jr.; husband, Cresencio Turrietta Sr.; also numerous brothers and sisters, most recently Carmen Madrid, whom she loved all dearly. She is survived by two grandchildren, Ernest Becerra Jr. and Elizabeth Renee Espinoza; five great-granddaughters, Rosella, Pearl, Ashley, Virginia "booties" and Olivia; son-in-law, Ernest Becerra Sr.; great-grandson-in-law, Jose Espinoza; great-granddaughter-in-law, Sylvia Becerra. Also by numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. She will be missed enormously by all that loved her. She was known as the historian of the family and for all of her great stories of the Albuquerque area. She had a strength on which everyone could depend. Whether it be family, friends or neighbors she was ready to help and give comfort. All that loved her wish to say goodbye to their Nana, Tia, Rosella and friend. Nana I will miss you! Thank you for all the love, strength and guidance you gave me throughout my life. There will never be a day that passes without you being there. God speed to you on your journey to heaven. ZUCKERT -- Mimi Zuckert, 89, passed away peacefully at Vermont Manor in Albuquerque on Saturday evening, October 9, 2004. She was born in Lexington, KY on May 13, 1915. Mimi was married for over 60 years to her beloved and devoted husband, Sam Zuckert, who preceded her in death in 2002. She is survived by her sons, Mark and Alvin; daughter-in-law, Louise, all of Albuquerque; grandsons, Brian Olson, of Texas, and Glenn Olson, of Colorado and their families; and many loving nieces and nephews. Mimi was involved in literacy programs, humane animal treatment and hospice work. She cared deeply about environmental issues and spiritual growth and development. She devoted her life to loving service to others. Because of her gentle wisdom and compassion, her spirit will live on in the hearts of the many people whose lives she touched. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many earthly angels who cared so lovingly for Sam and Mimi these last years.
