Obituary for HOGG

Gertrude May Hogg, 95, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, October 11, 2004. She is survived by her niece, Cheryl Groebner and husband, Jerry; nephew, Thomas S. Hogg, III; beloved friend, Merle Mitchell; great nieces Lisa Mayhill of Santa Fe, Paige Lewis of Los Lunas and Carrie Staller of Denton, TX. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas S. Hogg, Jr. and Jack Hogg and sisters, Agnus Hogg and Eleanor Hogg. Gertrude was born Thursday, August 12, 1909 in Newark, NJ to Thomas and Gertrude Hogg. She grew up in Kearney, NE and graduated from Kearney State Teachers College. The family moved to Albuquerque in 1934. Gertrude worked as an insurance underwriter for Fireman's Fund Insurance Company for 35 years. She was elected regional director of the National Association of Insurance Women in 1957. Gertrude was a Charter Member and elder of Immanuel Presbyterian Church. She served as Choir member, Church School teacher, deaconess, historian and organizer of "HymnStrollers" a ministry to those in nursing homes. Gertrude was also a member of Martineztown House of Neighborly Service Auxiliary and a long time supporter of UNM Athletics and the Albuquerque Symphony. Services will be held Thursday, October 14, 2004, 2:00 pm at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 114 Carlisle with Pastors Chris and Joyce Lieberman officiating. Interment will take place at 12:30 p.m., prior to the service, at Fairview Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday, October 13, 2004, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
