Dorothy Mae (Bergman) Richmond, 73, of Rio Rancho, NM, died Friday Oct. 8, 2004 after a 20 year battle with breast cancer. She was born August 7, 1931 in Harvey, IL. She graduated from East Aurora High School in 1949 and lived in St. Charles, IL for 19 years. She then lived in the Irving, TX area for 22 years. Her final residence for 8 years was Rio Rancho, NM. She married Howard Richmond in 1951. They were divorced in 1982. Dorothy, also known as "Dot," was a highly skilled avid bridge player and teacher. She also enjoyed golfing, ballroom dancing, and playing piano. She was an active member of the St. Andrew Scottish Society of New Mexico and previously a member of Kiwanis International and the American Business Women's Association. She is preceded in death by her son, Dennis Richmond. She is survived by her daughter, Heather ODaniel; three grandsons, Jason (wife Junne) of Seattle, WA, Courtney (wife Kristin) of Denver, CO, and Matthew (wife Jennifer) of Albuquerque, NM; and two great-grandchildren, Ashleigh and Michael. A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, Oct 13, 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 14, from 2-3 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. All services take place at Sunrise Funeral Options Chapel at 2400 Southern Blvd in Rio Rancho.
