AUSTIN -- Arnold. Lt. Col. Arnold D. Austin, U.S. Air Force, Ret'd., 78, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, September 26, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Loma Austin; daughter, Beverly Renee Mercer of Lincoln, NE; son, Charles Edward Austin and wife, Kelly of Pittstown, NJ; grandchildren, Zachary Blume, Josh and Ashley Austin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers; and one sister. Mr. Austin was a longtime member of Paradise Hills United Methodist Church. He served his country in the United States Air Force for 30 years. He was a Navigator with the 8th Air Force in England during WWII. Following the war, he served with the U.S. Air Force Intelligence in Okinawa and Guam. He was a BSF Instructor for 9 years. Memorial Service will be Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. at Paradise Hills United Methodist Church, 4700 Paradise Blvd. NW. BALLEJOS -- Antonio Ballejos passed away on Monday, September 29, 2003 at a local hospital in Albuquerque. Antonio is survived by four sons, Leonardo Ballejos and wife, Maria, Ismael Ballejos and wife, Lilly of Yuba City, CA, Vincent Ballejos and Raymond Ballejos; one daughter, Mary Chaves and daughter-in-law, Isabel Ballejos. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Antonio was preceded in death by his wife, Enriquetta; two sons, Cipran and Abilo Ballejos. Viewing will be on Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at 5:00 p.m. with the Rosary to follow at 6:00 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 4001 12th St. NW, Albuquerque. BOULE -- Robert C. Boule, 80, born in Albuquerque, NM, died on September 29, 2003 following short illness. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Peter and Lavinia Stewart, his parents Earl Nelson Boule and Bertha Stewart-Boule, and his brother Earl A. Boule. Bob was survived by nephew Mike Boule and wife Margarita, nieces Bunny Sanchez and husband Daniel, Wendy Baczenas and husband Ben, Cindy Boule and companion Randy Baker, Gayle King and husband Bill, Joan Yeagley and husband, Hac;two great-nieces; four great-nephews; and one great-great-niece. Bob was baptized as a member of the First United Methodist Church in 1923. He graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1939. Bob proudly served in the US Army in London and Paris during WWII from 1943 to 1946. Following the war he returned to his studies, graduating from UNM in 1948. He was lifetime member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Bob retired from Sunwest Bank Trust Department after 35 years of service. Known for his compassion and devotion to his family and friends, he will be sorely missed. Bob was, and his family is, grateful for the respect and kindness shown him during his illness by Dr. Haskins and Hospice Nurse Barbara Buchard. A memorial service will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 314 Lead SW, with Dr. Terry E. Anderson and Dr. Ira Williams, officiating. CHAVEZ -- Dolores M. "Flo" Chavez, 82, went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday September 27, 2003. She passed away peacefully at her home in the loving presence of her family. She was born in Red Canyon New Mexico, on January 28, 1921 and was a life time resident of Mountainair, New Mexico. Dolores was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albarito Chavez; and her beloved mother, Maximiliana Montano. She is survived by her loving children, Craig Nester Chavez, Virginia and husband, Nick Lopez, Cindy and husband, Juan Cordova; and her beloved grandchildren, Abraham Larry Chavez, Jennee Aragon, Johnathan Cordova, Andres Cordova, Valerie Lopez and Sally Lopez; her beloved great-grandchildren Albert and Aliza Chavez. She was also a beloved sister to Juan Montano, Maggie Vega, Rosalia Luna, Felis Baca, Marcelino Montano and Melescio Montano. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and close friend Ron Garcia, and many other dear friends. Dolores devoted her entire life to a Christianity Faith. She will be remembered for loving smile and her kind and gentle nature and her generosity to many people and will be deeply missed. Christian services will be held on Wednesday October 1, 2003 at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair, New Mexico at 1:00 p.m., and viewing will be held from 9:00 am to 12:00 p.m. also at the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary. CHESNUT -- Roy N. Chesnut, 83 a resident of Albuquerque for 39 years, died Thursday, September 11, 2003 after a long illness. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Weinlein and husband, John of Cedar Crest, NM; son, Richard Chesnut and wife, Cindy of Arlington, TX; sisters, Juanita Martin of West Plains, MO, and Anna Jane Roe of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Tiffany, Paul, Brittany, Sharon and Kirt; three great-grandchildren, Stasia, Justine and Skylar; numerous nieces, nephews, and special Chesnut and Schiller in-laws; and many dear friends. Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frances; three brothers, Gene, Chuck, John; and sister, Melba. Roy has been taken to be buried next to his wife in Grundy Center, IA. Roy was a salesman and manager for the Fuller Brush Co. in his early years in four states, Iowa, Nevada, Texas and New Mexico until he retired after 25 years with the company. For several years after, he sold commercial advertising and then managed apartments for six years. In his later years, he sold Chem Guard protection products until his official retirement in November 1997 at age 77. He was a special husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed and loved by all.

COFFMAN -- Louise Coffman, 77, a longtime resident of Deming passed away Monday, September 29, 2003 at her home. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Baca's Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be that afternoon at 4:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend David Okerberg officiating. A Graveside Service will be Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock, TX under the direction of Wright Funeral Directors, 311 N. Wall St., Shamrock, TX 79079., 806-256-2188. Louise was born March 11, 1926 in Shamrock, TX to James H. and Virgil Porter Caperton. She enrolled in Christian College in 1943 and enjoyed hockey, swimming, dance, voice, and field hockey in addition to taking a full academic load. She married H.W. Coffman in 1944 and in their 59 years she enjoyed five children; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Louise was very community oriented and was involved in local activities in Shamrock and in Deming after they moved there in 1967. In Deming, Louise worked with the Deming newspapers and was also active with the First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Henderson W. Coffman of Deming; children are Janey L. Coffman Walser of Lubbock, TX, Jim H. Coffman (died 1979), Sally J. Coffman Farrell of Amarillo, TX, John M. Coffman of Albuquerque, Julia C. Coffman McCain of Houston, TX; a sister, Janet Caperton Laylock; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. FALLON -- John T. "Jack" Fallon, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, died Sunday, September 28, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Hazel Fallon; son, Steve Fallon of Dallas, TX, daughter, Jan Young and Jack Savay of Sherman Oaks, CA, grandsons, J.P. Fallon of Bedford, TX, Greg Fallon of Charlotte, NC and granddaughter, Deirdre Zube of Greentown, PA. Jack was a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder and was a professional engineer having worked for Westinghouse, Goodyear Aircraft, Rio Grande Railroad and retired from the Federal Government, Defense Atomic Support Agency after 25 years of service. During those years Jack traveled extensively throughout Europe and Asia. Jack enjoyed collecting and restoring automobiles. The family wishes to thank the staff of The Cottages for their loving care. FARMER-BETTIS -- Judine Willburn Farmer-Bettis born August 28, 1914, continues her life with God. Mrs. Farmer-Bettis was raised by her grandparents and sister, Ethyl; and brother, Lynn. Judine married Jack H. Farmer, Sr. in 1932. Mr. Farmer precedes her in the journey ; as well as her siblings and her beloved mother-in-law, "Pearl." Always full of fun and honest conversation, she was a delight for her son, Jack Farmer, Jr. Judine married Aldon Bettis in 1997 and lived in Duncan, Arizona, until her illness in 1999. Judine is mother to Jack and his wife, Nisa; and her dear adopted daughter, Debbie Katsch; and grandmother to Leslie, Lissa and Lindsie. GILLOGLY -- Louise M. Gillogly, 78, a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, September 28, 2003. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James Gillogly; son, Greg and wife Michelle Gillogly of Highland Village, TX; daughter, Kathy Peter of Albuquerque; son, Tim and wife Mary Gillogly of Spring, TX; granddaughters, Jackie and Emily Peter of Albuquerque; and grandson, Gabriel Gillogly of Humbolt, CA. HAM -- Virginia Ham, 83, a resident of Albuquerque for 16 years, died on Friday, September 26, 2003. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, William P. Ham; daughters, Kathryn Cranston and husband Russell of Newport Beach, CA, and Mary Briggs and husband Richard of Topeka, KS; two grandsons; and four great grandchildren. Virginia worked as a teacher and also as an actress and model during her life and was in a number of television commercials. She was also a member of the Screen Actors Guild. Virginia had a number of other memberships including the Grand Cross of Color - Rainbow for Girls, Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, past President of PEO Chapter W, and Sandia Presbyterian Church. HARTMAN -- Hilary J. Hartman, 77, who died September 28, 2003, always tried to live her life audaciously, cherishing the old, old friends and ideas, but embracing new ideas and new friends. She is survived by four loving children, Mary Hartman Snepinger, Robert Hartman, Paul Hartman and Dan Hartman; two daughters-in-law, Sue Hartman and Chris Hartman; four beautiful grandchildren, Brian Snepinger, Laura Snepinger , Steven Hartman and Katie Hartman; and her beloved companion, Hubert O. Davis Jr., the joy of her late life. Hilary lived in Albuquerque the past 11 years. Prior to that she lived in the Denver area for 32 years, and taught at Emily Griffitt Opportunity School. LING -- Mr. Clyde Joseph Ling, 82, a resident Arizona and formerly of Albuquerque passed away on September 25, 2003. Mr. Ling is the beloved husband of 32 years to Mrs. Phyllis Ling. Mr. Ling is also survived by three daughters, Judy Sifford, Barbara Davis and husband, Ross, Leslie Polychrones and husband, Tim; one son, Steven Jurgens-Ling and wife Adele; seven grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren. Mr. Ling was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. MAESTAS -- J. Mike Maestas, 53, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away September 27, 2003. He is survived by his wife of three years, Benita Maestas; daughter, Paula Maestas-Adams and husband, Mike and granddaughter, Alyssa; son, Michael Maestas; stepsons, Tyler and Travis Swisher; brothers, Steve Maestas and wife, Noreen, David Maestas, Paul Maestas and wife, Camelia, and Gerald Maestas; sisters, Cecilia Lucero and husband, Louis, Theresa Maestas and Jessica Hargrove. Mike was a graduate of the University of New Mexico with a degree in architecture, and spent his life working in the banking industry. He served the community by being on several boards, including the Anderson School of Management and New Mexico Zoological Society. Mike was an avid golfer with a six handicap. NISSEN -- Sibyl M. Nissen died September 26, 2003.She was born at Crown Point, New Mexico, where a boarding school for Navajo children was being established on the Navajo Reservation, she was born January 19, 1913 to James T & Rilla A. (Pettis) Williamson. She was predeceased by her parents, a sister Olga M. Williamson, her husband Carl J. Nissen, a grandson G. Wayne Riddick, and a great-grandson Kody E. Ragland. She is survived by her children, Sigrid McCain of Sophia, N.C., Hilda Riddick of Dalzell, S.C., Sonja DeVasher of Warsaw, Mo., Carline Reid, Greta Cox, and James G. Nissen all of Albuquerque; 24 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and five great- great- grandchildren. She attended high school at Montezuma, New Mexico college at N.M.S.U. (Las Cruces).and Iowa state Unicweairy (Ames). Where she graduated in 1934. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church, Highland Senior Activity Center, Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity, she was a charter and past member of New Mexico Genealogical Society, Inc., San Marcial #34 order of Eastern Star, Albuquerque White Shrine No.1, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. PARKER -- Martha J. Williams Parker, 86, a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, September 28, 2003. She was born on July 25, 1917 in San Angelo, TX, the daughter of Manly Johnson and Eulalie (Bosley) Johnson. At the age of 12, she moved to Albuquerque with her parents. Mrs. Parker was a charter member of Heights First Church of the Nazarene. She was employed by Sandia National Laboratories for 29 1/ 2 years. Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her husband, Roger C. Williams. She is survived by her current husband, Vern Parker; one daughter, Loretta L. Rugh and husband, Dick Rugh; two granddaughters, Joetta Dee Brooks and husband, Randy and Jerri Lee Teagarden and husband, Bradley; four great-grandchildren, Jay Moore, Daniel Brooks, Henry Teagarden and Emily Teagarden; and one sister, Marguerite Phillis. SMITH -- Elaine Frances Walker Smith, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on September 22, 2003 in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kingslynn, England. She was born in Los Angeles, California on July 10, 1947 to Joe C. and Elizabeth Walker. Elaine and her family moved to Albuquerque when she was a little girl. She graduated from Manzano High School in 1965. Elaine married her beloved husband, Manson Curtis Smith Jr. on June 17, 1967. They had two children - Davedda Jo and Manson Curtis Smith III. Elaine received her Associate Degree in University Studies in 1978 from the University of Albuquerque. Elaine is survived by her parents, Joe C. and Elizabeth Walker; her husband of 36 years, Manson Curtis Smith Jr.; daughter, Davedda Jo Williams and her husband, Andre of Hope Mills, North Carolina; son, Manson Curtis Smith III of Swaffham, England; two granddaughters, Alexandria B. Williams and Adrianne J. SOLIS -- Sylvia Ozanich Solis, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, September 26, 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte M. Smith and husband, Robert W. Hilke; son, Joseph (Joey) A. Solis III and wife, Bobbie; grandchildren, Kathleen M. Carnell, Wendy Dial, Monte Smith, Joseph "Tony" Solis IV and wife, Michele, and Kyle Solis; great-grandchildren, Brian, Dale & Darren, Krystle, Amber, Matthew, Joseph V, and Joshua; great-great grandchildren, Lauren, Christian, Ashleigh Sylvia; brother, Anthony A. Ozanich and wife, Irene; and many nieces and nephews; family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her love, Joseph A. Solis, her mother and father, Anthony and Sylvia Panion Ozanich; brothers, Frankie and William R. Ozanich; sisters, Francis Ozanich, Roseann Harrison and Agnes Ozanich Chavez; and her uncle, Matthew Ozanich. Sylvia was born on March 18, 1919 in the coal mining camp of Cameron in Colorado. STANFIELD -- Rev. Clarence L. Stanfield, 91. Services will be held Thursday, October 2, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Hobbs. Rev. Todd Dyess, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be at Grady Cemetery at Grady, NM. Smith-Rogers Funeral Home is directing arrangements. Born October 11, 1911, at Grady, he passed away September 28th. He was married to Thelma Jane Chapman. She preceded him in death. Rev. Stanfield served churches on the Clovis circuit, Portales Circuit, at Goldsmith & Van Horn/Sierra Blanca, Texas, and in Raton, Gallup and Albuquerque. He was pastor for eight years at the Jal/Wink Methodist churches, building a new parsonage and church in Jal while there. He was a volunteer chaplain for the Albuquerque Police Department, was a member of the board of Pensions for the New Mexico Methodist Conference; and served as president of the Rotary Club at both Jal and Gallup. Survivors include a son, David Stanfield of Edgewood; two daughters, Joyce Kemper of Hobbs and Sharron Bennett of Jonesboro, Arkansas; one brother, Clyde Ray Stanfield of Albuquerque; a sister, Gladys Thomas of Grady; and eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and four sisters. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Jal, NM or to other churches where Rev. Stanfield served.

TEDFORD -- Billie D. Tedford, 64, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2003 at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carolyn R. Tedford; son, David Tedford of Phoenix, AZ; daughters, Julie Werst and husband Bill of Fort Collins, CO, and Carrie Schmidt and husband Michael of Alpharetta, GA; mother, Zell Tedford of Salem, KY; brothers, Don Tedford and wife Mary of Newburgh, IN, Tom Tedford and wife Darlene of Salem, KY, and John Tedford of Salem, KY; and many grandchildren. Bill grew up in northwestern Kentucky and southern Indiana. He married Carolyn on October 19, 1963. During his 20 years of service in the United States Air Force, he was a pilot, a navigator, and served his country in the Vietnam War. Following his retirement from the Air Force, Bill thoroughly enjoyed volunteering for the New Mexico Republican Party and tinkering with his computers. He was a loving granddad and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Bill was very resourceful, industrious and handy. Bill and his wife have been residents of Albuquerque for 27 years. Visitation will be Friday, October 3, 2003 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, followed by a Prayer Service at 4:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to the parish hall at St. Bernadette's, 11401 Indian School Rd. WATTS-HAYNIE -- Dora Watts-Haynie, a resident of Albuquerque departed this life, September 28, 2003 after a long battle with cancer. She was born November 28, 1915 in Wolfe County, Kentucky to Edward and Rosalee (Brown) Adams. Dora was preceded in death by husbands, William Floyd Watts and Frederick Elwood Haynie; two brothers, William and Homer Adams; seven sisters, Ona, Marie, twins Ella, and Della, her twin sister Ora Adams, Bertha Bishop and Maggie Cox. She is survived by one sister, Clema Belle of Middletown, Ohio; one brother, Frank Adams and wife, Fern of Wellington, Kentucky. Dora has one daughter, Patricia Wiley Smithpeter and extended family member Earl Talkington of Truth or Consequences; two sons, Richard and wife, Mae Wills of Cynthiana, Kentucky, Jan Ray and wife, Sue Wills of Dayton, Nevada. Her four grandchildren are Denise Wiley-Balko and close friend Gary O'Connell, Albuquerque. Kirby and wife Kim Wills of Alamogordo, Sherry and Roger Schneider, Cynthiana, Kentucky, Jana Sue and Carl Shea of Sacramento, California, deceased grandson Randal Dean Wiley. She has seven great-grandchildren, Allen and Sandy Bosley, Randal Chad Bosley, Cody Turnbow, Mellssa and Rebecca Schneider Bailee and Tori Wills. Mrs. Haynie has three great-great, grandchildren. Lezley, Bosley, Kambry Turnbow and Isabella Schneider. She has many nieces and nephews in Ohio and Kentucky. Dora moved to Albuquerque December 2, 1944 from Middletown Ohio. She was employed for Mt. Bell Telephone Company for 32 years from 1945 until retirement, January 1977. Mrs. Haynie was a member of First Christian Church. Per her request, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at Aspen Funeral Alternatives Chapel, 1935 Juan Tabo NE, October 2, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Brian McCracken.
