AUSTIN -- Arnold. Lt. Col. Arnold D. Austin, U.S. Air Force, Ret'd., 78, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, September 26, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Loma Austin; daughter, Beverly Renee Mercer of Lincoln, NE; son, Charles Edward Austin and wife, Kelly of Pittstown, NJ; grandchildren, Zachary Blume, Josh and Ashley Austin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers; and one sister. Mr. Austin was a longtime member of Paradise Hills United Methodist Church. He served his country in the United States Air Force for 30 years. He was a Navigator with the 8th Air Force in England during WWII. Following the war, he served with the U.S. Air Force Intelligence in Okinawa and Guam. He was a BSF Instructor for 9 years. Memorial Service will be Wednesday, October 1, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. at Paradise Hills United Methodist Church, 4700 Paradise Blvd. NW. Cremated remains will be interred at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM at a later date.
