Alexander -- Jack R. Alexander, a resident of Los Lunas Since 1979, lost his long battle with cancer at his home on Thursday, September 13, 2001 at the age of 81. Jack was born on January 3, 1920 in rural Oklahoma. His teenage years were spent in Hazleton, KS where he graduated high school in 1938. Arriving in Albuquerque in 1939, he became a police officer with the Albuquerque Police Department in 1940. During WWII, he served as a Military Policeman at Kirtland Field, and returned to APD in 1946. He graduated from the FBI Academy in 1952. In 1954 he joined Albuquerque Gravel Products as personnel and safety director. He remained with AGP until he retired in 1982. An active participant in the community, Jack ran for the State Legislature in 1964. Jack had many friends and business associates and was widely known in the concrete industry in New Mexico. His mother, Ruth Arnold of Enid, OK; his father, Homer of Chico, CA; his sister, Lois Bauersachs of Victoria, TX; and his brother, Bobby of Chickasha, OK preceded him in death. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Kay; his son, Bill and his wife, Jodee; his daughter, Jan of Vallecito, CO; his sister, Wanda Stanley of Mt. Ida, AR; and his grandchildren, April and Jacob Alexander, both of Albuquerque. Services will be held Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Apodaca -- Mr. Vicente M. Apodaca, 86, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on September 14, 2001. Mr. Apodaca is survived by his loving children, Nancy Jaramillo and husband Alex, Fela Chavez, Sally Jaramillo, Ralph Apodaca and wife, Frances, Angie Apodaca, Isabel Torres and husband, Jose, Rosemary Romero, Vincent Apodaca Jr. and wife, Mary Helen, Betty Ann Montoya, Bernadette Apodaca-Coca, Benita Cebada and husband, Gerald, Nattie Lee Vijil and husband, Chris and Frankie Apodaca. He is also survived by one sister, Lilly Armijo; 30 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Apodaca. Mr. Apodaca was a member of the Catholic Church. A Rosary was recited Saturday evening in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, Jose and Kathy Montano, reciting. A visitation will be Sunday afternoon in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Final visitation for Mr. Apodaca will be Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel. A Communion Service will be held Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Edwins Catholic Church, 2105 Barcelona SW. Deacon J.O. Luna, officiating. Interment will follow at the Los Padillas Cemetery. Armijo -- Ray V. Armijo, 80, died peacefully on September 13, 2001 at his home after a long battle with colon cancer. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tranquilino and Zenaida. He is survived by his beloved wife, Berlene; devoted children, Gary, Madeline, and Natalie; loving grandchildren, Chelsea, Kimberly, Michael, Monique, and Matthew; his siblings, Zelma, Frank, Joan, Lillian (Adron), Justin (Jenny), Elmer, and Dolores; and sister-in-law, Anita. Born in Pena Blanca on June 11, 1921, he was most known for his unassuming sense of Western adventure and his unwavering faith. In adolescence he tended his family's cattle in the Valle Grande. He was a skillful horseman and enjoyed his years working as a wrangler in the Jemez Mountains. He enlisted in the Army and served in WWII. After the war, he attended UNM and received his degree in political science. He worked for the NM Department of Transportation for 25 years. He enjoyed art and despite his color blindness, discovered great solace and freedom in oil painting. He had great passion for the romance of the American Frontier and hoped that children might find inspiration from the beauty of our precious land. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Sanctuary at 435 St. Michael's Drive, Ste. B201, 87505. Vigil will be at McGee Memorial Chapel 1320 Luisa at 7:00 p.m. Sunday. Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 1301 Osage Ave. at 10:00 a.m. Monday.

Bailey -- Victor Thomas Bailey Victor was born in Moscow, Idaho on April 11, 1951. He died in Grants, NM on September 10, 2001 of liver cancer. He lived most of his life in Grants, NM. Vic was lovingly cared for in his illness by his dear friend Bull Copeland, with the help of Mike Copeland, Phyllis Carver, and the services of hospice and Lincare. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Bailey. He is survived by his mother, Dale Bailey; and his two sisters, Barbara Odom of Hobbs, NM, and Nora Nichols of El Dorado Hills, California; as well as two nieces and four nephews. Bottome -- Paula Ann Bottome, 67, of Waialua, Hawaii died September 10, 2001 at the University of Washington Medical Center Seattle, WA. born in Moundsville, WV, she was the daughter of Paul Edgar and Marguerite Dilworth Bottome of Logan, WV. Before moving to Waialua, she was a resident of Tokyo, Japan for many years. She attended Logan High School and received her B.A. degree from the University of Illinois, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and a Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico. She was the past president of the Gestalt Institute of San Francisco and founder and president of the Gestalt Noetwork of the Pacific Rim. She was a practicing psychotherapist until her death. She is survived by three sons, John Allen of Redmond, WA., David Allen of Albuquerque and Lawrence Bottome of San Francisco, CA; and a brother, Edgar Bottome of Amesbury, MA; two grandchildren; and a niece and nephew. A Memorial Service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Chavez -- Anjala Marie Chavez died Monday, September 10, 2001 at the age of 42. Anjala is survived by her son, Angel; her mother, Bernadine Whitmore; and her brothers, Ron and Brian Chavez. Anjala was preceded in death by her father, Benito Chavez. Anjala was very talented in many ways particularly in the areas of music and art. Her ability to play the flute, guitar and other instruments gave enjoyment to many people. She was a kind and giving person, helping many in their time of need. Her cats were very important to her and she aided many a stray she came into contact with. Because of a daily battle with a severe case of asthma the past 12 years or so, Anjala's life was not always dictated by her, but rather by her illness. This most certainly prevented her from realizing her enormous potential. Anjala will no longer have to fight for a simple breath of air as she is in a place free of ailments. She leaves behind many people who loved and cared deeply about her, the way she did for them. This is especially true of her son, mother and brothers, Good-bye Anjala, you will be sorely missed! A viewing will take place on Monday, September 17, 2001 at 6:00 p.m. A Rosary will follow at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service given by Deacon Baca. Colwell -- Margaret Imogene Colwell March 13, 1919 - September 5, 2001Margaret I. Colwell, 82, a 56-year resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away in Las Cruces, NM on September 5, 2001. Margaret was born March 13, 1919 in Iowa City, IA to Edward and Ada Jellison. A wife, mother and good friend was preceded in death by her husband, John (Jack) J. Colwell Jr. in 1991. She and Jack were one of the founding families of Holy Ghost Parish. Margaret is survived by her children, Charles Colwell of Las Cruces, NM, Maggie Davis of Merkel, TX, John J. Colwell III of Albuquerque; and grandsons, Sean Colwell, Charles Colwell, Christopher Marshall and Shon Marshall. At her request, cremation has taken place and internment will be in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A dedication Mass for the Repose of her Soul will take place at Holy Ghost Church, tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. A Private Family Memorial Service will follow at the gravesite. Dafick -- Charles R. Dafick, a resident of Rio Rancho passed away on September 12, 2001. He was born on October 14, 1931 in Jersey City, NJ to Charles and Catherine Butler Dafick. Charles was a former resident of Wood Ridge, NJ before moving to Rio Rancho seven years ago. Charles was proud to have served his country as a United States Marine and spent most of his life as a dock builder for the District Council of Carpenters in New York City, Dock Builders Local #1456. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Meadowlark Fishing Club. He was very passionate about spending precious time in his garden. Charles will be dearly missed by all of those who knew and loved him. Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy of Rio Rancho; his sons, Timothy and wife, Debra, John and wife, Marian; his daughter, Lynda Frank and husband, Kevin; one sister, Gloria Clarke and husband, Joseph all of New Jersey. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Timothy, Christopher, Jonathan, Shanna, Katelyn and Kevin. Daniels -- James F. "Jeff" Daniels, born October 24, 1916 in Ft. Towson, OK., died September 8, 2001. He is a former resident of Albuquerque and was currently residing near Bloomfield, NM. Mr. Daniels is survived by his wife of 63 years, Flora E. (Willis) Daniels; daughters, Linda Susan Layton and husband, Spencer and F. Patricia (Pat) Berger and by son, Jefferson"Jim" Daniels and wife, Sybil Crane. He is also survived by five grandchildren, James M. Berger, Plemon L. Del Curto -- Martha Leona Del Curto, 85, a resident of Albuquerque for seven years, died Friday, September 14, 2001. She is survived by daughters, Ann Larranaga and husband, Percy, and Judy Woertz and husband, Frank; four step-children, Kay Cordova and husband, Joe, Charletta Larranaga and husband, Lorenzo, Butch Del Curto and wife, Joann, and Genie Sue Holfeldt and husband, Wayne; and six grandchildren, Angela Polzin, Melissa Melfi, Mark Larranaga, Rick Aguilar, Joetta Larranaga and Lorenzo Aguilar. Mrs. Del Curto was a resident of Encino House Midtown and had numerous friends and acquaintances. Eckhardt -- Carl H. Eckhardt, 81, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 5 years, formerly of Jackson Township, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2001. Carol was born April 25, 1920 the son of Carl and Jessie Stilley Eckhardt in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He graduated from Kankakee High School in Kankakee, Illinois where he was active in sports and was the Manager of the Track Team. Carl was drafted into the US Navy in 1944 and served on the USS Bennion. While serving on the USS Bennion he received a Presidential Unit Citation from President Truman. After being honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946, he worked for the NYC Railroad. While working for the railroad, he met his wife, Trudy. She was a regular commuter on the train. He then worked as a painter for the Gary Indiana School System for 30 years. He was very active in the Painters Union Local #8 and held various offices in the Union. Carl was a part-time Deputy Sheriff for the Porter County Sheriff's Dept. for six years and then was hired full-time as Jail Transportation Officer until he retired"again" in May 1986. He was a member of the Seabee Reserve Unit 9-38 in Gary, Indiana in 1955 and retired as a BUG (Chief Petty Officer) in 1980. He was a member of the Rio Rancho Moose Lodge #2447 and the Fleet Reserve Assoc., Branch 200 of Albuquerque. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Trudy Eckhardt of Rio Rancho, NM; son, Gregory L. Eckhardt and wife, Diane of Valparaiso, IN, and daughter, Carole L. Zimmerman and husband, John of Rio Rancho, NM; two grandchildren, Michael and Megan Eckhardt of Valparaiso, IN. The Memorial Service for Carl will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2001 at 5:30 p.m. at the St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 601 Montano Rd. NW, Albuquerque, NM with the Rev. Brian C. Gilbert -- Elinor D. Gilbert, 92, passed away peacefully September 7, 2001 surrounded by loved ones. She was born October 23, 1908, St. Paul, MN to Edward and Julia Donohue. She attended St. Paul's Visitation Convent, Graduating from High School in 1927. Elinor received a 1932 degree in Library Science from the University of Minnesota. She married Samuel Gilbert in 1936. They raised three children, all of whom are living, Kathe Gilbert of Santa Fe, and Keith and Bruce of Albuquerque; she is also survived by six grandchildren, Kim Gilbert of Ft. Collins, CO, Chris Buyse of Shepherd, MT, Barbara Gilbert Rutherford of Albuquerque, NM, Gina Gilbert Pollock of Los Altos, CA, Kyle Gilbert of Portland, OR and Sean Brogan of El Paso, TX. Elinor also has seven great-grandchildren. The family moved to Albuquerque in 1950. She worked in the Albuquerque Public Library system for 21 years, retiring in 1975 as Prospect Branch Head Librarian. Elinor's beloved husband, Sam, died in 1979. Today we celebrate our wonderful mother's life, it was both full and bountiful. Mom gave us unconditional love, light and wisdom. Her radiant qualities included a quick wit and crisp mental agility. She was an inveterate reader, and traveled widely. In 1997, Mom attended her 70th high school reunion in St. Paul, MN. of the 16 graduates from her visitation Class, all five surviving members attended!"To our marvelous Mom, Our radiant light. Gutierrez -- Margie J. Gutierrez, 81, a 50-year resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, September 12, 2001. She is survived by her brother, M.R. Harvey -- Marion Lois Harvey, died Monday, September 10, 2001 at home in Albuquerque. She was born in Pass Christian, MS on October 29, 1937. Mrs. Harvey lived in Los Angeles, CA where she worked at Good Samaritan Hospital as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of Greater St. Mark Baptist Church. Mrs. Harvey was a loving mother who worked hard to care for 10 children. She moved to Albuquerque in 1997. Mrs. Harvey was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Lawrence E. Harvey, Sr.; two sons, Ladarrell G. Harvey and George Lee Harvey; two brothers, George Robinson and Henry Robinson; two sisters, Cecelia Bradley and Beatrice Labat; her father and mother, Edward and Batrice Robinson. She is survived by her six sons, Michael Harvey, David Harvey, Rev. Jaramillo -- Margarito M. Jaramillo, 83, a lifelong resident of Belen, peacefully passed away while surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 13, 2001. Margarito was born to Melcor and Magdalena Jaramillo on May 25, 1918 in Tome, New Mexico. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, Padre Pio Group, Sacred Heart League, and a long time member of Our Lady of Belen Spanish Choir. He was also a devoted member to the Belen Knights of Columbus, Post #2673. Margarito retired from General Electric Air Craft Division after 23 years of outstanding service. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Rafael, Rosendo, and Nestor. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Ramona of the family home; six children, Nila Baker and her husband, Leonard of Rio Rancho, NM, Toby and wife, Ermie of Socorro, NM, Dina Paulik and her husband, Jim of Dallas, TX, Ruben and wife, Becky of Belen, Steve and wife, Dinah of Los Chavez, Andrew and wife, Connie of Belen; and 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eufelia Jaramillo of Belen, and Erlinda Aragon and her husband, Joe of Los Lunas; and two very special cousins, Paul Moya and his wife, Mary Joe of Belen, and Jack Moya and his wife, Lee of Paradise Hills. Margarito is also survived by his many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A Viewing for family and friends will be held on Sunday, 5:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church with a Rosary following at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Belen with Interment in the Parish Cemetery. Jennings -- William G. Jennings, age 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1956 died September 13, 2001. William is survived by his wife, Christine O. Jennings of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Cheryl Easton and husband, Gary of St. Charles, MO; two grandchildren, Travis Easton, Brandy Seader and husband, Brian; one great-grandchild, Makenna Seader. William retired from City Parks & Recreation in 1983 and A.C.F Industries. He was preceded in death by two sons, Richard and William J. Jennings. Johnson -- Jean E. Johnson, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1931, died Friday, September 14, 2001. She is survived by her son, Bob Johnson, Jr. and wife, Susie of Placitas; grandson, Charles A. Johnson and wife, Nancy of Albuquerque; sisters, C. Ruth (Mrs. Calvin) Horn of Albuquerque and Gladys Holdridge of Charleston, SC; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Robert Johnson, Sr. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Johnson was active in the Albuquerque High School class of 1939 Ladies Luncheon. She was a member of Daughters of the Nile. Mrs. Johnson loved animals and was supportive of the Animal Humane Society. Services will be held Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at Chester T. Martin -- Harold E. Martin, born October 16,1917, died recently on September 10, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Jean; daughter, Betty Tantimonaco and her two daughters, Ashley and Heather of El Paso; son, Sam and daughter-in-law, Gail Martin and their three children, Kristopher, Kevin, and Kimberly; daughter-in-law, Linda Martin and her two sons, Garrett and Travis. He is also survived by his sister, Lucille Cooper of Portales; and several nieces in New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his son, David, in September 1996; his brother, Hayden, and his parents, Sam and Amye Martin. He was born in Celina, Texas, and has been a resident of Albuquerque since 1952. After attending New Mexico State University (majoring in Animal Husbandry), he worked for AT&T as a lineman until called to duty in the Army in October 1941. Harold (known as Hal to many friends) served duty in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe and the Ardennes until being discharged as a First Lieutenant having revieved an Asiatic Pacific Theater ribbon, and an EAME Theater Ribbon with five bronze stars in March 1945. Harold and Jean were married upon his discharge and soon moved to the southwest. They spent time farming in Eastern New Mexico until he resumed his telephone career in May 1949, as a lineman with Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph. He worked his way around the entire state of New Mexico, making many friends and moving on up through the telephone company until he retired as a Network Staff Manager in the Engineering Department at Mountain Bell in September, 1974 after almost 39 years. After retiring, Harold and Jean lived on a farm in the South Valley for many years raising cattle and their pet llamas. He loved his workshop and was always busy fixing or making something. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, golf and sports. He was a wonderful husband and father and will be missed by his family. During their 56 years of marriage Harold helped Jean with her annual participation in the Weems Art Fest. Cremation has taken place, and per Harold's wishes no Memorial Service is being held. His remain will be interred in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Should friends desire, a contribution in Harold's name may be made in lieu in flowers, to The Hospice Memorial Foundation at 4775 Indian School Rd. NE. Martinez -- Maria G. Martinez, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on September 14, 2001, in Albuquerque, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cristobal and Luz Garcia, her loving husband Mike H. Martinez, a son, James Fidel Martinez, a son-in-law, Thomas B. Porter, and a great-grandson, Manuel Santiago Miguel Martinez Stogden. Mrs. Martinez was a loving mother to the following children: Esther Salazar and husband, Ernest of Tierra Amarilla, NM; Cecilia Porter of Tularosa, NM; Mike Martinez and wife, Gloria of Pembroke, NC; Maria White and husband, Mike of Los Lunas, NM; Lucy Herald and husband, Steve of Phoenix, AZ; Chris Martinez and wife, Hazel of Los Chavez, NM; Billy Martinez and wife, Debbie of Espanola, NM; Alfonso Martinez of Bosque Farms, NM; Mary Martinez Rigo and husband, Dave of Manassas, VA; David Martinez of Albuquerque, NM; and Lolita Martinez and husband, Elvan Silas of Albuquerque, NM. Additionally, she is survived by 23 loving grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and her dearest friend, Agnes Rivera of Las Vegas, NM. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Meeks of Little Rock, AR; son-in-law, Carlos Osuna of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Sammy Meeks, Tina Meeks, Scott Childers, and Paul Childers; great-grandchildren, Joseph Childers, Eric Childers, Jewell Meeks, Robert Meeks, and Kristina Meeks; and a very special friend, Herb MacPherson of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jewell Meeks in July 1983, son, Sam Meeks in March 2001, and daughter, JoAnn Osuna in August 1999. No services are scheduled. Mercer -- Thomas L. Mercer reached out to take God's hand of love on September 14, 2001. His kind heart and quiet manner touched many hearts, and his was a life of giving that will be forever remembered with love. He was born on July 21, 1912 in Waterville, OH and after attending Toledo University he married Lenore A. Wing with whom he eventually pursued interior decorating. He and Lenore enjoyed married life together until her passing in December, 1999. Tom is survived by his three children, Joan Doerfler of Bowling Green, OH, Gwendolyn Blake of Albuquerque, Thomas O. Mercer of Sylvania, OH; and nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He loved his family and being a man of integrity he generously relocated several times to be an adequate provider for them. His varied occupations associated him with Ohio Bell, Toledo, OH; Weisenberger Chevrolet, Toledo, OH; El Paso Times and Herald Post, El Paso, TX; Arno Travel Agency, Ft. Pierce, FL; General Development Corporation, Indian River Estates, FL; and Grant Furniture Co., Ft. Pierce, FL. He was a successful businessman and during the 1960s he established and operated two furniture stores in Albuquerque and later one in Toledo, OH. During his youth he was confirmed with Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. He later accepted Jesus into his heart as his Saviour and Lord, giving him eternal life with is Creator. While living in Florida he was a member of the Kiwanis Club. Tome returned to Albuquerque with Lenore in 1987 where they finished their earthly living. He will be sorely missed, and his memory will be treasured by many. We are grateful for his gentle kindness tempered with the loving guidance that we all profited from as we grew and were blessed with his influence. A private family Memorial Service will celebrate his life.

Palijas -- Frank S. Sr., 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1987 died suddenly Thursday September 13, 2001. He was a former resident of Chicago. Portello -- Richard A. Portello, 63, a resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, September 12, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Bertha; children, Douglas, Franklin, John Paul and Karen Ursula; and grandchildren, Matthew, Amos, Raymond and Amber. Mr. Portello served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service, Sears Automotive and a local beverage company. Rommelfanger -- Brother Raymond Rommelfanger, 76, passed away on September 14, 2001. Brother Raymond is survived by his sister, Marie Mersman and three brothers, Maurice Rommelfanger, Ralph Rommelfanger and Leonard Rommelfanger. As a Franciscan for fifty years, Brother Raymond served mostly to the Native American Nation on the Navajo and Zuni Reservations. The reception of the body will be Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. at Queen of the Angels Catholic Church, 1100 Indian School Rd NW (12th and I-40), with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m. celebrated by Father Larry Dunham, O.F.M. His classmate, Father Nils Thompson O.F.M. will be the homilist. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his fellow friars. Sells -- Vivian L. Sells, age 88, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2001 in a local hospital. She was born July 14, 1913 in Kansas to the late Fred and Ruth (King) Davis. She is survived by her husband, George Sells of Albuquerque; two daughters, Vicki Lynn and her husband, Dennis Shinliver of Wellington, Kansas; Sandra McVey of Wellington, Kansas; one sister, Elizabeth Catherine Hensler of Larenceville, New Jersey; six grandchildren, Jean Luzer, David McVey, Dale McVey, Judy Ford, Greg Hammers, Stuart Shinliver; two great-grandchildren, Ty Ford and Todd Ford. She was an active member of the St. Paul's Methodist Church in Albuquerque for the past 30 years. She was a member of the Knife and Fork Club, loved to play golf and was a strong supporter of the Lobos. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2001 at 10:30 am in the St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 9500 Constitution N.E. Rev. Tim Neustifter will officiate. You always enjoyed a good game of Scrabble which you always won. I can always remember how your eyes lit up when you could spend time with your grandsons ( Cody and Colton). Willingham -- Billy Dean Willingham, 65, passed away September 15, 2001. Billy was born in Tuscumbia, AL, April 10, 1936. The USAF transferred him to Albuquerque in 1975. He is survived by his son, Dean Willingham, married to Heather and their children, Maranda and Landon; daughter, Valerie Hollinger, married to Greg and their children Joshua and Mayson; brother, Jimmy Willingham; sisters, Marie Holland, Deb Grissom, and Neeb Willingham. He was adored by his family and loved by many friends. He will be missed. Billy retired from the USAF with 26 years of service and later retired from the US Postal Service after 17 years of service. He served in the Vietnam War upon which he was awarded a Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross. Memorial services will be held Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University NE. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 80250, 87198, in honor of the recent terrorist attacks against the US.
