Obituary for Alexander

Jack R. Alexander, a resident of Los Lunas Since 1979, lost his long battle with cancer at his home on Thursday, September 13, 2001 at the age of 81. Jack was born on January 3, 1920 in rural Oklahoma. His teenage years were spent in Hazleton, KS where he graduated high school in 1938. Arriving in Albuquerque in 1939, he became a police officer with the Albuquerque Police Department in 1940. During WWII, he served as a Military Policeman at Kirtland Field, and returned to APD in 1946. He graduated from the FBI Academy in 1952. In 1954 he joined Albuquerque Gravel Products as personnel and safety director. He remained with AGP until he retired in 1982. An active participant in the community, Jack ran for the State Legislature in 1964. Jack had many friends and business associates and was widely known in the concrete industry in New Mexico. His mother, Ruth Arnold of Enid, OK; his father, Homer of Chico, CA; his sister, Lois Bauersachs of Victoria, TX; and his brother, Bobby of Chickasha, OK preceded him in death. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Kay; his son, Bill and his wife, Jodee; his daughter, Jan of Vallecito, CO; his sister, Wanda Stanley of Mt. Ida, AR; and his grandchildren, April and Jacob Alexander, both of Albuquerque. Services will be held Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Private interment will take place at 1:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
