Brand -- Charles Ray Brand, 60, a resident of Albuquerque for 18 years, died Saturday, June 10, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Bernadette Brand of Rio Rancho; sons, Michael C. Brand, W. Scott Brand, and Thomas S. Kosick, all of Albquerque; daughters, Dianne Filadelfia, Darleen S. Kosick and Lisa D. Brand, all of Albuquerque; brothers, Jack O'Pry of Sweetwater, TX, Roland Brand of Grand Junction, CO; sister, Dee Ann Seymour of Amarillo, TX; and grandchildren, Ashley, Tyler and Amanda Brand, and Brian Filadelfia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Silas Brand; brothers, Bobby Jack O�Pry and Billy Tom Brand; and sister, Quita Brand. Mr. Brand was born in Sweetwater, TX, December 11, 1939. He was raised in Amarillo and then moved to Albuquerque in 1982. Mr. Brand was an industrial pioneer. He was a very strong man with a big heart and a beautiful smile. He was a blessing to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Cardenas -- Adam Cardenas, 18, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, June 10, 2000. Adam was born in Albuquerque to Michael Cardenas and Jeanne Shaw. He attended Valley High School. Adam is survived by his parents; paternal grandmother, Mary; maternal grandparents, Harold and Rosemary; and many other family members and friends. Adam touched all who knew him with his sense of humor and kind heart. We loved him dearly and will miss him every day. Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 3:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos Rd. NW, with Father Joe Vigil, Celebrant. Dillon -- Mary M. Dillon, age 94, a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years, died June 12, 2000. Mary was born on a farm in St. Paul, Kansas to Michael Leo and Margaret Ann Dillon. She is survived by one brother, Mick Dillon of Kansas and sister-in-law, Marguerite Dillon. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Tim Dillon and wife, Dee, Carolyn Dillon, Dan Dillon, Kathy Underwood and husband, Andy, Sharon Alba and husband, Victor, Michael Dillon, Virginia Joanne Dillon, Margie Dillon and Kathy Dillon; and seven great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Pearl Dillon; and her brother, Emmett Dillon. Mary's life was defined by her unwavering devotion to her faith. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Catholic Daughter's of America, St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary, Legion of Mary, and Brothers of the Good Shepard Auxiliary. Mary retired from a career as a U.S. Civil Servant. From there she went to a second career as a founder of the Medical Library at St. Joseph's Hospital. After a second retirement she was an extremely active volunteer at St. Joseph's. Mary fought the fight, ran the race, and kept the faith. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday, June 14, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. in the Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 15, 2000, 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, with Father Francis X. Eggert as Celebrant. Gonzales -- Nick Jude Gonzales, born June 27, 1969, died Friday, June 9, 2000. Nick, a loving son, father, brother, cousin, nephew is survived by his daughter, Amberlea Nicole Gonzales; his son, Nick Andrew Gonzales; and their mother, Carol; his mother, Tina M. Gonzales; father, Victor Bustos; sister, Melissa M. Gonzales; niece, Gabrielle Victoria Lloyd; grandmother, Pablita Gonzales; aunts, Juanita Ulmer and husband, Bob, Marcella Haime and husband, Harry, Lucia Sawyer and husband, Don and Florence Vigil and husband, Al; uncles, Ernest Gonzales and wife, Pat, Casimiro Gonzales and wife, Annie and Richard Gonzales and wife, Irene; and numerous other special loving cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Nick Gonzales, Aunt Isadora Armijo, uncles, Nick and Manuel Gonzales. Nick served in the New Mexico Army National Guard for several years. He served with the Albuquerque Police Department for 10 years. He graduated from Del Norte High School in 1987 and was a member of the F.O.P. and Albuquerque Police Officers Association. Hemphill -- Born in Mosquero, NM (Otis) Ray Hemphill, 75, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, June 9, 2000. Ray is survived by his wife, Billie Hemphill; son, James V. and Barbara Hemphill and their son, Chris of Kingwood, TX; son, Ray and Cathy Hemphill and their son, Jason of Clearwater, FL, and daughters, Lissa Uvizl, Amy Gabaldon of Los Angeles, CA; step-children, Pamela Kaye Eberle and her daughters, Sara and Amelia of Rio Rancho; Jim and Adrian Brennan of Austin, TX; Burt and Mayo Dikelsky of Crete, IL and their daughter, Sheryl Dikelsky of New York City; Bill and Bonny Schulenburg and children, Shannon, Krissy, and Matt Bennett of El Paso, TX. Henson -- Lenore Henson was one of the first New Mexico women to join the newly organized Women's Army Corps as a private in 1942. She served in the South Pacific during World War II having gained the rank of sergeant. After the war, she used the G.I. Bill to obtain a degree from Southern Methodist University. She then enlisted in the Air Force Reserves and was called into active duty as a lieutenant in 1950. She served 26 years in the Air Force, rising to the rank of full colonel as a comptroller. She served in England, France, Germany, and Japan, as well as Texas, Washington D.C., Virginia, and California. After retirement in 1974, she was active in her neighborhood association and the Republican Party, especially during the Senate Campaigns of Pete Domenici and Harrison Schmitt; and the Congressional Campaign of Steven Schiff. She also served as chairman of the New Mexico Convention of the International Women's Year in 1978. She was born in 1921 in Henrietta, TX, the daughter of Bryan and Della Henson. She graduated from Roswell High School in 1939, having worked at odd jobs while attending school throughout most of the great depression. She died of lung failure at St. Joseph's Hospital on June 9, 2000. Visitation will be Tuesday, 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Memorial service will be Wednesday, 7 p.m. at the same location. Interment of cremains will be Thursday, 2:30 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. She is survived by her four sisters: Estelle Goodrich and husband, Samuel, Laverne H. Rison of Albuquerque, Patsy Ruth Underwood and husband, Bill of Ft. Komarek -- Mildred R. Komarek, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2000 following a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Emil Komarek of the family home; daughters, Amy Budge and husband, Tom of Albuquerque and Susan Komarek and husband, Kevin Tonkin of Durango, CO; son, Wayne E. Komarek and friend, Linda of Fallbrook, CA; and sister, Marian Bohm and husband, Clare of Logan, UT; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Martin Hybl, Jr. and sister, Adeline Hybl. Mrs. Komarek served in the United States Navy during WWII. She was a member of Waves National and Waves Road Runner, Unit No. 4, of New Mexico. She also had membership in the Sierra Club, National Trust for Historic Preservation, Center for Marina Conservation, and the Harbor Lights Collectors Society. Mrs. Komarek loved houseplants, collecting lighthouses, cooking, reading, crossword puzzles, traveling, and ping-pong. She was a beloved wife and mother and she will be missed by all who knew her. Lobb -- Clarence Theodore (Ted) Lobb Jr., 79, a resident of Bosque Farms, went to the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 11, 2000. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ted and Hattie Lobb; infant brother; and sister, Daisy Sandoval. He is survived by his wife, Maxine; son, Ted and wife, Beckie Lobb; daughter, Carol Teresa and husband, Rob Casey; daughter, Jean Wegner; daughter, Peggy and husband, Larry Hollingsworth; son, Billy Joe Shelton; and son, Terry Whitmore; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Ted is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. He was loved by his many friends at Bosque Farms Senior Center, Peralta United Methodist Church, and his many friends in Los Alamos, where he was a longtime resident. Lowe -- Shirley Ann Lowe, born May 22, 1934 in Clayton, New Mexico, passed away on June 8, 2000. She was preceded in death by her father, John Stewart and her mother, Thelma Oldfield Stewart. Survivors include daughters, Marsha Yoke and son-in-law, Michael Yoke of Roswell, Debra Dixon and son-in-law, Gordon Dixon of Albuquerque, Jeanne C. Renfro of Roswell, and Darlene Batts of Roswell; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Funeral services will begin 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at Sunset Memorial Park. Macleod -- Bruce D. MacLeod Sr., 70, a resident of Albuquerque since 1977, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2000. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut on May 29, 1930. Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary MacLeod; son, Wayne MacLeod; daughters, Cindy Billhymer and Lynn Stenzel and husband, Robert of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Sean and Wayne MacLeod, Michael Billhymer and Alycia and Heather Stenzel. He is also survived by his father, Dannie McLeod of Kissimmee, FL; sisters, Jane Allen and husband, Fred of San Antonio, TX and Millie Gingrass and husband, Arthur of Barrie, VT. Also among his survivors is a host of in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Bruce D. MacLeod Jr., who passed away April 14, 2000; and by a sister, Beverly Shea. A veteran of the United States Navy, Bruce was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Post 13. In October, 1995, he retired from Sandia National Laboratory, where he was employed as a Supervisor. Merillat -- Marie Merillat, 89, of Florida, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2000 at Tandem Health Care in Melbourne, Florida. Mrs. Merillat was a homemaker and was born in Stockbridge, Michigan. She came to Brevard County in 1996 from Albuquerque where she lived for 66 years. She is survived by her daughter, Norma Marcum of Satellite Beach, FL; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Murphy -- Margaret J. Murphy, born February 23, 1923 in Rockville Center, New York, died on June 8, 2000 in the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Centerville, South Dakota. Margaret moved to South Dakota in March of 2000, due to respiratory complications and died of a short term illness. Margaret was an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service and retired in 1976. She previously owned and operated a small hobby shop on Long Island. She was active in many clubs including Secretary of the Rio Rancho Elks Ladies Lodge #2500, Meadowlark Singles Club, Republican Club, and volunteered for the Rio Rancho Elementary School. She was extremely close to her grandson, Michael. Michael brought extreme happiness to his grandmother. For many years after the death of her husband, Michael brought a purpose to her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. Murphy; her brothers, James, John and Edward Kennedy. She left behind her children, Thomas J. Murphy and wife, Lorraine of Cary, NC, Eileen B. Stockland and husband, Roger of Wakonda, SD, Patricia M. Murphy of Rio Rancho; and her sister, Catherine Barry of Sun City, AZ; grandchildren, Barbara M. and Thomas M. Murphy of Cary, NC, Patricia M., Wendy K., Wesley E., Tamara E., Brooke E. Stockland of Wakonda, SD and Michael A. and James M. Vaccaro of Rio Rancho. She will be missed. A Memorial Mass will be on Wednesday, June 14, 2000, 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church in Rio Rancho.

Nogales -- Louis C. Nogales Jr., 39, beloved son of Louie and Gloria Nogales, passed away June 12, 2000, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his daughter, Angelique Desiree Sanchez, 7, and her mother, Arleen Sanchez; brothers, Joey Nogales and wife, Veronica, and Fred Nogales; sister, Teri Nogales-Liang and husband, Ron Liang; nephews, Joseph Nogales, Johnny Nogales, Anthony Nogales, and Angelo Nogales; nieces, Felicia Nogales and Chantel Legarreta; beloved grandmother, Theresa Mora; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Louis was a 1979 graduate of Albuquerque High School and later graduated from T-VI. He was a loving father, son and brother who was known for his compassion, kindness and generosity to those less fortunate. Despite his illness, Louis demonstrated remarkable courage and strength, always putting others before himself. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him and his legendary sense of humor. Funeral services for Louis will be held Thursday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Parker -- Mrs. Nellie I. Parker, 86, a resident of New Mexico, passed away on June 9, 2000. Mrs. Parker was born on February 14, 1914, near Blanchard, Oklahoma in McLain County. Her parents were Charlie and Katie Inman. Mrs. Parker is survived by her grandchildren, Roddy Lee Strickland of Albuquerque, Saunja Gayle Strickland of Arizona, Debra Mae Strickland of Albuquerque, Keno Strickland of Washington and Marvin Strickland of Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Katie L. Inman; her late husband, Charles Jake Parker; a son, Francis Lee Strickland; two brothers, Douglas Murphy Inman and Dee Eugene Inman. Phelan -- Thomas R. Phelan, 73, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, suffered a heart attack while competing in a horseshoe tournament that he won, died Sunday, June 11, 2000. He is survived by his companion, Gerry Adkins; children, Fonda Ray and husband, Paul, Douglas D. Safford -- Hazel Safford, 83, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, June 12, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Reynolds and her husband, Ned; granddaughters, Debra Brennan and her husband, Kenneth of Kenosha WI, Brenda Bragg and her husband, Douglas of Albuquerque; great-granddaughters, Amanda Bragg and Abby Bragg of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Safford of 49 years. Hazel enjoyed her life as a homemaker and caring for her family. Sell -- Esther M. Sell, 90, Rapid City, South Dakota, died Sunday, June 11, 2000 at the Victorian House. Esther was born March 16, 1910 at Council Bluffs, IA to Conrad G. and Anna M. (Bauer) Sell. She received a B.A. and M.A. degrees at University of New Mexico. She was employed for many years by the Albuquerque Public Schools as a teacher at Monte Vista, Kirtland Base and Apache Elementary Schools. She was an exchange teacher for one year in Los Angeles. She was a lifelong member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Albuquerque and presently a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Rapid City. She was a member of the Lutheran Woman's Missionary League, Albuquerque Association of Educational Employees, New Mexico Association of Educational Employees and Alpha XI Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. After retiring she became a worldwide traveler. She is survived by her niece, Mary Ann Nietz of Rapid City; great-nephew, Tim Sell Nietz and his wife, Karen; great-niece, Cynthia and her husband, Mitchell of St. George, UT; great-great-nephews and great-great-nieces, Michael, Tyler and Aaron Nietz, Megan, Thomas and Macy Six. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister, nephew-in-law. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 14, 2000, from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m., at Behrens Mortuary, and one hour prior to the services at the church. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m., June 15, 2000 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Rev. William Paepke officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Memorial Park in Albuquerque. He is survived by his wife, Janey; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Debbie Spyker of Steamboat Springs, CO; a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Jonathan Schulze of Wyalusing, PA; two granddaughters, Lindsey and Elesha Schulze; his mother, Violet Snyder of Kissimmee, FL; sisters and husbands, Joan and Ken Rhody of Stroudsburg, PA, Peggy and Larry Kissinger of Canoe Creek, PA and Rita and Paul McDonel of Alexandria, PA; a brother, Russel Snyder of Kissimmee, FL. He was preceded in death by his father, Rolland Snyder and brother, John Snyder. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday morning, June 14, 2000, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, 2621 Vermont NE, with Father Ronald L. Bruckner, Celebrant. Interment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date. A wake will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14 at the Snyder residence. Memorial contributions may be sent to Mrs. Snyder for a charity of her choice.
