Obituary for Murphy

Margaret J. Murphy, born February 23, 1923 in Rockville Center, New York, died on June 8, 2000 in the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Centerville, South Dakota. Margaret moved to South Dakota in March of 2000, due to respiratory complications and died of a short term illness. Margaret was an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service and retired in 1976. She previously owned and operated a small hobby shop on Long Island. She was active in many clubs including Secretary of the Rio Rancho Elks Ladies Lodge #2500, Meadowlark Singles Club, Republican Club, and volunteered for the Rio Rancho Elementary School. She was extremely close to her grandson, Michael. Michael brought extreme happiness to his grandmother. For many years after the death of her husband, Michael brought a purpose to her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. Murphy; her brothers, James, John and Edward Kennedy. She left behind her children, Thomas J. Murphy and wife, Lorraine of Cary, NC, Eileen B. Stockland and husband, Roger of Wakonda, SD, Patricia M. Murphy of Rio Rancho; and her sister, Catherine Barry of Sun City, AZ; grandchildren, Barbara M. and Thomas M. Murphy of Cary, NC, Patricia M., Wendy K., Wesley E., Tamara E., Brooke E. Stockland of Wakonda, SD and Michael A. and James M. Vaccaro of Rio Rancho. She will be missed. A Memorial Mass will be on Wednesday, June 14, 2000, 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church in Rio Rancho.
