Abeyta -- Frank G. Abeyta, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1975, died Monday, March 29, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mary S. Abeyta of Albuquerque; daughter, Josie Singleton of Burbank, CA; son, Frank Abeyta-Valdez and wife, Rosalie of Santa Fe; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and first cousins, Eliseo Valdez and wife, Josie, Hermenia Abeyta-Valdez, Ofilia Quintana and Mary Abeyta, all of Espanola. Aldrich -- Mary Jane Aldrich, 77, a longtime resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Monday, March 29, 1999. Mary Jane was born April 23, 1921, the daughter of Floyd L. and Cora Belle Austin McMahan in Garbar, Oklahoma. Mary Jane was a dedicated elementary school teacher. She started teaching in Eastern Kansas in a rural, one-room school house with grades one through eight. She taught in Borger, Texas, Oklahoma City, and Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and in a private American school, Grade 5, in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. She was highly appreciated by faculty members and students. She was indeed an inspiration to those students who sought the light of education. Mary Jane was preceded in death by one brother, Austin McMahan. She is survived by her husband, Carl of Rio Rancho; two children, Jane Anne Aldrich of Palmer, AK and Carl David Aldrich Jr. and wife, Elizabeth Anne of Farmington; three grandchildren, Kimberly Ruth Linder of Los Angeles, CA, Dava Sue Thompson of Grand Junction, CO, and Christina Jane Lewis of Twin Falls, ID; four great-grandchildren, Afton Leigh Thompson, Chelsea Marie Thompson, Kaitin Anne Lewis and Benton David Lewis. The visitation will be today, Wednesday, March 31, 1999, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the service at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd., at Meadowlark Ln. in Rio Rancho, with The Rev. Kathleen Potter of the First United Methodist Church in Bloomfield, NM officiating. Entombment will follow in the Floral Garden Mausoleum in Vista Verde Memorial Park. Archibeque -- Placida S. Archibeque, 81, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, March 29, 1999. Bryan -- Hazel Bryan, of Albuquerque, passed away at St. Mary's Rest Home on Thursday, March 18, 1999--just six weeks short of her 100th birthday. Hazel devoted her life to her children"who could do no wrong" in her eyes. Her husband, George; her sons, Jack and Dick; and her daughter, Betty preceded her in death, but she will join them finally in heaven. She is survived by her baby sister, Ruth Job Condell, 95, of Camden Grove, CA; her beloved son, George and his wife, Jeanne; her grandson, Bill; granddaughter, Kathy Baldwin; and great-grandson, Mike; grandson, Pat, his wife, Debbie and great-granddaughter, Andrea, all of Albuquerque; and her daughters-in-law, Jody Bryan of Great Falls, VA. Chavez -- Emma D. Chavez, 87, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, March 28, 1999. She is survived by her daughter, Leona Chavez-McAuley; granddaughters, Michelle Chavez, Krista McAuley and Lauren McAuley; grandson, Andrew McAuley; nieces, Lena Saiz, Angela Sanchez, all of Albuquerque, Betty Duran; and nephew, Mike Duran, both of Phoenix, AZ. Mrs. Chavez was preceded in death by her husband, Louis A. Chavez. She was a member of San Jose De Los Duranes Mission Church and Our Lady of Fatima Blue Army Rosary Society. Duerksen -- Elmer W. Duerksen, age 89, passed away Sunday, March 28, 1999, at his residence in Santa Fe. A lifelong resident of New Mexico, Mr. Duerksen homesteaded in El Morra in 1933 and also lived in Albuquerque, Tijeras, Las Cruces and Santa Fe. Mr. Duerksen served the medical community of New Mexico from 1933 until his retirement in 1972 from BCMC University Hospital. He continued to be active in medical work until 1995. Mr. Duerksen is survived by his wife, Bernice of Santa Fe; sons, David Duerksen of Tijeras and Charles E. Duerksen of Albuquerque; daughters, Elinor Tribble of Santa Fe, and Juanita Renaga of Albuquerque; step-daughter, Dawn Collins of Tijeras; brother, Victor Duerksen of Midpines, California. Memorial services will be held Sunday, April 4, 1999, 1:00 p.m., at Seventh Day Adventist Church, located on Rabbit Road. Arrangements are through McGee Memorial Chapel Mortuary.

Felts -- Ethel E. Felts, age 88, passed away on March 28, 1999 at the Sierra Health Care Center in Truth or Consequences, NM. She was born on March 20, 1911 in Jetmore, Kansas to Fred. A. and Viola (Bales) Beye. A homemaker, Mrs. Felts was a resident of T or C since 1987. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Millard H. Felts of the family home in T or C; two sons, Harold Dee Felts of Palacios, TX and Howard Lee Felts of T or C; a half-brother, Henry Briskey of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren, Dr. Ricky D. Felts of T or C, Millard Dee Felts of Silver City, James Felts of Los Lunas, David Felts of Louisiana, Vicki Lee Rutan of Tulsa, OK, Janet Lynn Clark of Waco, TX, and Steven Felts of Artesia; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Hancock. Viewing will be held on Friday, April 2, 1999, from 9:00 a.m. till 10:00 a.m., and services will be conducted in the chapel of French Mortuary at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Ann Madden officiating. Foehr -- June Rexroad Foehr, 72, died Sunday, March 28, 1999. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, George Foehr of Albuquerque; daughter, Denise Foehr Niessing and husband, Raymond of Schooley's Mtn, NJ; sisters, Doris Olson of Venice, FL and Mary Thorpe of Buckhannon, WV; brothers, Vorley Rexroad of Great Falls, VA and Weldon Rexroad of Buckhannon, WV; ten nephews; and six nieces. Mrs. Foehr was born on March 26, 1927 in Camden on Gauley, WV. She taught grade school in Russell, KY, 1947-1949. Mrs. Foehr moved to Albuquerque in 1949. She worked at Sandia Base and was also manager of A.P.S. Credit Union. Mrs. Foehr was an Honorary State Regent of N.S.D.A.R. and was a member of the Zia Chapter N.S.D.A.R., the Cameo Society D.A.R., the Nora Mitchell McDowell Chapter United Daughters of Confederacy, Colonial Dames of 17th Century and Daughters of American Colonists, both in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Dames of Court of Honor, War of 1812 and New Mexico Society Daughters of Colonial Wars. She was a 50 year member of Eastern Star, also Daughters of the Nile and White Shrine. Mrs. Foehr also served as a Girl Scout Leader. Halterman -- Juanita Mae Halterman, 81, of Excelsior Springs, MO, formerly of Liberty, MO, died Sunday, March 28, 1999 at the Excelsior Springs Convalescent Center. Family graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, at the Glenridge Cemetery, Liberty. Friends may call from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home, Liberty. Mrs. Halterman was born March 10, 1918 in Callao, Missouri, the daughter of Ross C. and Marie Stacy Dennis. Mrs. Halterman had lived in Chicago before moving to Liberty in 1953. She was a food service manager for the Ridgeview Junior High. She also managed the John F. Kennedy swimming pool during the summer months from the late 60s to the mid 70s. After retiring in 1979, Mrs. Halterman and her husband, Frank moved to Stockton, Missouri. She returned to Excelsior Springs in 1995 after Frank's death. She is survived by two sons, Lee Halterman and his wife, Debbie, Albuquerque, and Rick Halterman, Leawood, KS; a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Jim Hurt, Excelsior Springs; and a brother, Vern Dennis, Callao, MO; grandchildren, Chris Hurt, John Halterman, Kendra Halterman, Blake Halterman, Jayne Halterman, and Stacey Halterman; great-grandchildren, Lexi, Claude, and Mallory Hurt. The family wish to express their appreciation to the staff of the Excelsior Springs Convalescent Center for the attention and care that was given to their mother and grandmother.

Johnson -- ATTENTION: IBEW, LOCAL 611 John"Johnny" Johnson, age 84, of Albuquerque, was welcomed to his Heavenly Home on Monday, March 29, 1999. He passed peacefully at home in the arms of his wife, Paula and his son, John. Preceded in death by his first wife, June and son, Jeff, he is survived by wife, Paula of Albuquerque; son, John Johnson and daughter-in-law, Gracia Johnson of Albuquerque; sister, Jewell Jordan of Jonesboro, AR; nieces, Kathaleen Robertson of Albuquerque and Julia Ann McWilliams and husband, Rusty of Whitehall, AR; nephews, Jack and wife, Gennie Hulette of Albuquerque, and Jimmy and wife, Carol Hulett of Elgin, AZ; sister-in-law, Helon Wilcoxon and brother-in-law, Dick Pierce, both of El Dorado, AR; his many great-nieces and nephews, and the many friends of The Meadows Mobile Home Park, his church and Local 611. John was a veteran of World War II. He served as at T/Sgt. in Germany, France and Poland. John was a respected journeyman and foreman and a great teacher. As an industrial electrician, he spent most of his years in Los Alamos, New Mexico, retiring in 1980 from Santa Fe to Albuquerque. A member of Convenant United Methodist Church, John's deep and abiding faith in his Lord was his light upon this earthly path. He understood the value in helping others and always went the extra mile to help those who needed him or his skills. We commend him for his love of God and his fellow man. He forever has our respect, and our love and we give thanks for his life. Oh, send out thy light and thy truth, let them lead me, let them bring me into thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles; then will I go to the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy. Psalm 43. Lujan -- Andy Lou Lujan, 41, a resident of Albuquerque for 14 years, died Saturday, March 28, 1999 in Las Vegas, NV. He is survived by his wife of ten years, Amy Rose Puentes Lujan; children, Andrew Evan Lujan, Alexandria Loren Lujan and Angelo Patrick Luis Lujan, all of Albuquerque; mother, Esperanza Lujan of Las Cruces; sisters, Emelita Lujan of Las Cruces, and Sonja Portillo and husband, Frank of Germany; brother, Fredi Lujan and wife, Cindi of Albuquerque; niece, Stephanie Ulibarri of Albuquerque; nephews, Gavin Lujan of Albuquerque and Julian Portillo of Germany; and numerous aunts and uncles from Marfa, TX, Las Cruces, Lordsburg, Tucson, AZ, Presidio, TX, and Odessa, TX. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Lujan. Andy was a graduate of New Mexico State University. Martinez -- Michelle Renee Montoya-Martinez, 23, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on March 27, 1999. Michelle is survived by her husband, David Martinez; her mother, Antoinette Montoya; her father, Jerry Garcia Sr.; her daughter, Cassandra Martinez and her son, Vincent Martinez; three brothers, Jerry Garcia Jr., Joseph Montoya and Johnny Montoya; maternal grandfather, Joseph E. Martinez -- The earthly life of Albert Aurelio Martinez, 56, has ended and his heavenly one begun. His family will miss him, but rejoice in the peace and love that the Lord is providing him. He will be missed by his children, Timothy Martinez, Albert Martinez Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth, Yvette Martinez Rigg and her husband, Andrew Rigg; three grandchildren who blessed his life, Brandon and Alec Martinez and Andres Rigg. Albert is also survived by his mother, Dolores Martinez; and sisters, Christina Fratzola, Katie Nieto and friend, Santiago, Cecelia Martinez and her husband, Ross; brothers, John E. Martinez and his wife, Loretta and Ricky H. Martinez and his wife, Sylvia; as well as many nieces and nephews. Preceding Albert is his father, George Martinez; and brother, Leroy Martinez. The North Valley, especially Alameda, will miss Albert's presence. Albert was an active member of the Alameda Optimist Club, Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts Troop #713, and the Alameda soccer coach. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Jean of the family home; children, Anthony and wife, Susan of Chicago, Michele John, Jeannie Marie and Joseph Anthony of Rio Rancho; sisters, Rose and Mona Lisa; brothers, Vincent and Joseph; grandchildren, Lisa Marie, Justin John and Albert Michael; and great-granddaughter, Terrez. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette in 1990. Mr. Natale had lived in this area for ten years, moving from the Bronx. He loved bowling, was an avid hunter, sportsman and loved all sports. He was the captain of his neighborhood block watch. He served his country in WWII in the Navy. Mr. Natale was the North Atlantic welter-weight undefeated champion. Visitation for Mr. Natale is Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Rio Rancho Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho. Norman -- Mrs. Florence J. Norman, 77, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on March 29, 1999. Mrs. Norman was the beloved mother of four daughters, Joyce Coleman and husband, Jim, Gloria Kennedy and husband, Vince, Janice Luchese and husband, Gayle, and Linda Phillips and husband, Mark; one son, Robert King. Tapia -- Rosella"Mama Rose" Maria Tapia, 69, beloved and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, was called home by the Lord Saturday, March 27, 1999. Winters -- Sgt. William Paul Winters, 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, died Sunday, March 28, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Nymfa Winters of the family home; sons, Danny Winters and his wife, April, Kenneth Winters, Scott Winters, and William Winters, all of Albuquerque; and grandchildren, Jamie Winters, Alyssa Winters, and Kayla Winters. Sgt. Winters was a veteran of the US Army, having served during WWII. He was present at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked, for which he was awarded the Purple Heart. Sgt. Winters was a member of The Veteran's of Foreign Wars, George O. Breece Post 401, The Disabled American Veterans, the Academy of Model Aeronautics, and Albuquerque Radio Control Club. He built model planes as a hobby and he enjoyed spending hours flying them. Rosary will be recited Wednesday, March 31, 1999, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.
