Obituary for Aldrich

Mary Jane Aldrich, 77, a longtime resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Monday, March 29, 1999. Mary Jane was born April 23, 1921, the daughter of Floyd L. and Cora Belle Austin McMahan in Garbar, Oklahoma. Mary Jane was a dedicated elementary school teacher. She started teaching in Eastern Kansas in a rural, one-room school house with grades one through eight. She taught in Borger, Texas, Oklahoma City, and Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and in a private American school, Grade 5, in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. She was highly appreciated by faculty members and students. She was indeed an inspiration to those students who sought the light of education. Mary Jane was preceded in death by one brother, Austin McMahan. She is survived by her husband, Carl of Rio Rancho; two children, Jane Anne Aldrich of Palmer, AK and Carl David Aldrich Jr. and wife, Elizabeth Anne of Farmington; three grandchildren, Kimberly Ruth Linder of Los Angeles, CA, Dava Sue Thompson of Grand Junction, CO, and Christina Jane Lewis of Twin Falls, ID; four great-grandchildren, Afton Leigh Thompson, Chelsea Marie Thompson, Kaitin Anne Lewis and Benton David Lewis. The visitation will be today, Wednesday, March 31, 1999, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with the service at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd., at Meadowlark Ln. in Rio Rancho, with The Rev. Kathleen Potter of the First United Methodist Church in Bloomfield, NM officiating. Entombment will follow in the Floral Garden Mausoleum in Vista Verde Memorial Park. Memorials to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society have been suggested by the family. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary, Rio Rancho.
