MEYERSON -- BARBARA A. Age 84, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM since 1991, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Meyerson in 1989. She is survived by her brother, Robert Tobias; children, George Meyerson and wife Peggy of Rio Rancho, NM, Barbara Ayers of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; four grandchildren, Craig Compton and wife Terri, Melisha Dushane and husband Laurence, George Meyerson, Jr., Claire Meyerson; eight great-grandchildren, Danielle, Dominique, Nicholas, Corey, Victoria, Dominic, Alexander, and Vincent. Barbara was born May 17, 1928 in New York City to Sol and Hermine (Sternberg) Tobias. She finished high school early and went on to complete her undergraduate and master's degrees. Barbara chose a career path in public education where she taught for 42 years until her retirement. She loved to travel and she gave back by volunteering in many ways. One example is how she started as a den mother in Cub Scouts when her grandson, Craig got involved. Barbara continued as a den parent even after Craig was no longer in Boy Scouts. When Barbara moved to Rio Rancho, she began volunteering as a receptionist at City Hall. She was famous for her New Years Day party when she opened her home to many family and friends. She was known for being a "spirited" lady with a generous heart. As a teacher, she was strict on one hand while being generous on the other. A Visitation was held from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Road Family Room, 4310 Sara Road SE, Rio Rancho, NM. PERKINS -- Thomas Kent Perkins 58, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on December 18, 2008. Mr. Perkins is survived by his sisters, Lola K. Perkins and husband, Lawrence Callahan, and Vicki Mercer and husband Michael; his stepbrother, Lawrence Dushane and wife, Robin; stepsister, Linda Brown and husband Jack; and other extended family members. Dushane -- Helen Glass DuShane, 85, resident of Albuquerque since 1952, passed away March 24, 2002 in the loving care of Presbyterian Hospice and family. Born April 20, 1916 to Julia and S.C. Glass in Raleigh, North Carolina. She taught 32 years in the Albuquerque Public School System. She was a longstanding member of Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Sorority and was a faithful Steward of the Episcopal Church, teaching Sunday School and serving on the Alter Guild. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Douglas DuShane. Helen is survived by daughter, Virginia S. Vasquez and her husband, Al Vasquez of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Shelley Bergen and husband, Richard of Durango, CO, Jason Christopher McAdoo of Tucson, AZ, Amy Elizabeth Ellington and her husband, Kelly and her two children, Asley and Jacob Pino; son, Douglas Glass DuShane and his wife, Sian of San Antonio, TX and children, Megan and Joshua DuShane; sister, Ruth Bendel and husband, Bill Bendel of Charlotte, NC; niece Alice Craig and husband, Bill of Charlotte, NC; and nephew, Rob Goldsmith and wife, Dede Goldsmith of Abingdon, VA. He devoted 43 years of his life, in Albuquerque, at Van Atta Laboratories and community service with the Elks Club. Mr. DuShane was born August 26, 1917, in Winchester, Virginia, to the late Virginia Faulkner Fuller and James Ross DuShane. Also May Faulkner and Hogan Douglas Fuller, his grandparents. Mr. DuShane is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen Glass DuShane; daughter, Virginia D. Vasquez and her husband, Al Vasquez of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Shelly Bergen of Durango, Christopher McAdoo of Tucson, AZ, Amy McAdoo of Albuquerque, and her two children, Ashley and Jakob Pino; son, Douglas Glass DuShane and his wife, Sian of San Antonio, TX and children, Megan and Joshua DuShane.
