Adams -- Edward William Adams, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away at his home in Los Lunas on March 22, 2002. Ed was a member of the Belen Elks Lodge #2499 for seven years where he was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, bar manager and head chef. He was also a member of the Albuquerque Moose Lodge #1517 and a participant at the La Merced Moose Lodge #2550. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Adams in 2000. He is survived by his three sons, Cliff Roudabush and his wife, Cheryl of Albuquerque, Larry Roudabush and his wife, Wanda and Jim Roudabush and his wife, Patti all of Spanaway, WA. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren. The Belen Elks Lodge and La Merced Moose Lodge joined together to have a Memorial Service for Ed on Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the Belen Elks Lodge. Another Memorial Service will be held for Ed at the Albuquerque Moose Lodge #1517, 2121 Edith NE, on Thursday, March 28 at 10:30am. Romero Funeral Home will be assisting the family.

Bobbs -- Dorothy Bobbs, 77, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away March 24, 2002. She was a faithful member of Truevine Baptist Church, who worked hard and was supportive of her husband, during his 47 years in the ministry. She was a private nurse and a homemaker after her retirement. She was active in her church activities, the Baptist Convention and helping the indigent with charitable donations. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Rev. V.L. Bobbs, Sr; her children, Lilly Marie Robinson and husband, Calvin of Garden, City, KS, Patricia Ann Watts and husband, Oneil of Albuquerque, Laura Mae Lewis and husband, Donald of Albuquerque, Linda Gale Hawkins of Las Vegas, NV, John L. Bobbs and wife, LaShaun of Inglewood, CA, Vurne L. Bobs Jr. and wife, Cynthia of Los Angeles, CA and James Alvin Bobbs of Albuquerque; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and one sister, Bernice Boyd of Alexandria, LA; and one brother, Flan Johnson of Alexandria, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Elnora Newman and a daughter, Margaret Ann Bradshaw, and two sisters, Laura and Lucille. Dushane -- Helen Glass DuShane, 85, resident of Albuquerque since 1952, passed away March 24, 2002 in the loving care of Presbyterian Hospice and family. Born April 20, 1916 to Julia and S.C. Glass in Raleigh, North Carolina. She taught 32 years in the Albuquerque Public School System. She was a longstanding member of Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Sorority and was a faithful Steward of the Episcopal Church, teaching Sunday School and serving on the Alter Guild. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Douglas DuShane. Helen is survived by daughter, Virginia S. Vasquez and her husband, Al Vasquez of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Shelley Bergen and husband, Richard of Durango, CO, Jason Christopher McAdoo of Tucson, AZ, Amy Elizabeth Ellington and her husband, Kelly and her two children, Asley and Jacob Pino; son, Douglas Glass DuShane and his wife, Sian of San Antonio, TX and children, Megan and Joshua DuShane; sister, Ruth Bendel and husband, Bill Bendel of Charlotte, NC; niece Alice Craig and husband, Bill of Charlotte, NC; and nephew, Rob Goldsmith and wife, Dede Goldsmith of Abingdon, VA. Fanelli -- Joseph Michael Fanelli, 85, passed away unespectedly on Tuesday, March 26, 2002. Joe is survived by his wife of 54 years, Grace Famelli. Joe and Grace shared an undying life together, which will be an inspiration to family and friends forever. Jos is also survived by three daughters, Jo-Ann Hood, Lu-Ann Wulff, and Dianne McKenna; six grandchildren, Joseph Hood, Brian Hood, Candice, Hailey, Jordan, and Brooke McKenna, one great-granddaughter, Jillian Hood, and one on the way. He was preceded in death by one grandson, William Joseph Hood, age 10. Gillett -- Theresa Gillett, 96, a resident of Albuquerque for 55 years, died March 21, 2002 at Manzano del Sol Health Care Center. She was a native of Rockford, IL and a graduate of Rockford College and the University of Illinois Library School. She was Chief Cataloguer at the University of New Mexico until her retirement. After retirement, she became active in Friends of the Albuquerque Public Library and for many years sorted and priced books for the annual book sale. She was an active member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, where she had been historian, archivist and librarian. She is survived by a niece, Ann Howard of Cleveland, OH; and a nephew, Robert Gillett of Coos Bay, OR. Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2002 at Manzano del Sol, 5201 Roma NE, where Ms. Gillett was one of the original residents. Ray retired in 1982 from the Federal Government after 31 years as an electrical engineer. He was past president of the Optimist Club and past president of Albuquerque Mens Bowling Association. Hults -- James W. Hults, 53, passed away March 26, 2002 surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, but moved to New Mexico at an early age. He enlisted at age 17 with the U.S. Navy (Sea Bee's & SEALs Team) September 10, 1965 and served aboard the U.S.S. Roosevelt CVA42 as well as the U.S.S. Saratoga CVA60 and was honorably discharged April 30, 1970 after his final combat tour in Vietnam. Jim entered the Albuquerque Police Department Academy in July 1970. During his 20+ years, he worked as Patrol Officer, Field Investigator, Parking Control Supervisor, Traffic Analysis Supervisor, Police Reserve Coordinator/Supervisor, Training Officer, Fatal Accident Coordinator, School Crossing Guard Supervisor, Academy Instructor, Cadet Field Training Officer, but his true love was riding his Harley (M-90) 14 years as a Traffic Officer! He also taught Police Science at TV-I for several years. After retiring at the rank of Lieutenant, Jim decided to try something outside of law enforcement and wanting to spend more time with his family, went to work with his wife, Yvonne, son, Randy and father-in-law, Bill at Albuquerque Publishing Co. After a few months, Jim was offered a job with the Government and so he began his 2nd career with the Department of Veteran Affairs Police and worked for ten years until his illness deteriorated his health and he retired as Operations Manager/Captain (El Jefe). Jim dedicated 30 years of service to law enforcement and was proud of it. Jim was an avid fisherman and hunter, and loved spending time at the cabin in Red River with his wife and children. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Joseph F. Hults and his brother-like best friend, Julian A. Duran. He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Yvonne Byers Hults; children, Randy and wife, Corinna Hults, Gina Hults, Sharon Hults, James Hults, Joseph Hults and Joe Chairez; grandchildren, Andrew Chairez, Brianna, Mathew, Nicole Jamie, Tasha and Lisa Hults; mother, Grace Hults; father-in-law & mother-in-law, Bill and Josie Byers; brother-in-law, Bill (Boy) Byers Jr.; special niece/goddaughter, Shanna Byers; nephew, William (Bubba) Byers; siblings, Sandy, Ann, Cathy and Joe and many other relatives and friends. Viewing will be held Monday, April 1, 2002 from 2:00 p.m. until time of Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW (3 blocks north of Paseo del Norte). Jaynes -- Daniel H. Jaynes, 81, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 25, 2002. He is survived by his wife Betty Jaynes; daughter, Mary Jaynes of Albuquerque; two sons, Joe Jaynes of Thorndale, TX and Jim Jaynes and wife, Sharon of Albuquerque; and six grandchildren. Mr. Jaynes was a World War II Veteran, serving in the Navy, and was a Purple Heart recipient. Dan was a member of Northdale Baptist Church and the Gideons International. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Saturday, 2:00 p.m., at Northdale Baptist Church, 123 Osuna NW, with Pastor Ron Mansdoerfer officiating. Miller -- Colleen Ann Miller, age 76, resident of New Mexico for 25 years, passed away March 23, 2002. She was born August 12, 1925 in Perry, Oklahoma to the late Robert H. and Alta Eve (Carrier) McCormick. She is survived by three daughters, Candace Blashak, NM, Carol Miller-Tozaki, Kathleen Miller and her husband, Frank Jones, NM; three sons, Robert O. Miller and his wife, Anita, OR, William N. Miller, NM, Kevin J. Miller and his wife, Sue, FL; one sister, Margaret McCormick, OK; grandchildren, Ted Blashak, Zakk Zinn, Tommasina Miller, Crystal Miller, Kenji Tozaki, Keegan Tozaki, Kimi Tozaki; one great-grandchild, Samantha Blashak; one niece, Tamara Henderson. Colleen was preceded in death by her husband, William N. Miller, USAF Ret., in 1983 and her brother, Robert McCormick. She graduated from UNM with a B.U.S in English and Library Science. She loved to read and passed this love on to her children and grandchildren. She completed several novels, one of which is under consideration for publication. Colleen will be remembered as a loving, caring mother, sister and grandmother. The family wishes to thank the staff at Montebello, La Famila, and Sandia Hospice for their loving care. Ochadlik -- Helen M. Ochadlik, born May 11, 1920 in Montgomery County, PA to Joseph Gallan and Mary Turbenez, died peacefully Monday, March 25, 2002. She was married to Joseph Ochadlik for 35 years, who she married October 11, 1947. Mrs. Ochadlik lived in Bucks County, PA for most of her life and retired in Albuquerque to be with her family. A caring and loving mother and grandmother she will be missed by her children, David and Mary Ochadlik; and her grandchildren, Roxanne, Gina and Sonja Ochadlik who survive her. Stroud -- Rufus Stanley Stroud, 89, left his earthly home to be with his Heavenly Father Monday, March 25, 2002. He is survived by two sisters, Lucille Cox and Johnnie Gardener; his son, Edwin and his wife, Gwen and their three children, Brett, Russell and Brooke. He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. & Myrtle Stroud; his brother, Jim, as well as his first wife Stella and their eldest son, Don. He was blessed with a second family with his marriage to Zillah Stroud in 1986 and is survived by a son, David Hill; a daughter, Nina and her husband Bill Grizzard; he inherited 8 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren who loved him dearly and enjoyed his superb wit and his many poems and stories. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda, from his second family. Born June 2, 1912, he often joked about being the same age as the State of New Mexico even though he was born in Robert Lee, Texas. After receiving his Masters Degree from NMSU, Rufus became foreman of the Los Poblanos Simms Ranch in Albuquerque for several years. Later hired by the Department of Agriculture, he spent time in Nigeria & Guatemala. Upon completing these tours, he became a Loan Officer for Farmers Home Administration until retirement in 1979. While living in Albuquerque from 1937 to 2000, Rufus was very active in the First Christian Church. He was a member of NARFE. Services will be held Thursday, 2:00 p.m., at First Christian Church, 10101 Montgomery NE, with Art Cordova and Bud Cavin officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Pallbearers will be John Driver, Russ Harrison, Tom Headley, Hunter Look, Lonnie Sturdivant and Norm Zeter. Honorary Pallbearer will be Dick Stansbury. Tooker -- John W. Tooker, 87 a resident of Albuquerque since 1998 died Wednesday, March 27, 2002 in an Albuquerque hospital. Mr.Tooker was born august 27, 1914 at Ima, NM to the home of Arthur W. Tooker and the former Eva Louise Poppino. He was reared and attended schools at Fort Sumner and Santa Fe, NM. John married Alice Frances McClean on December 25, 1941 in Fort Sumner, NM. John owned and operated a trucking business for 50 years. He hauled produce throughout the entire western U.S. for 15 years. For several years prior to his retirement, John transported goods from Alberta, Canada to Los Angeles, CA. John and Frances made their home in Twin Falls, Idaho for 33 years where they raised their family. While living in Twin Falls he was a member of Eastside Southern Baptist Church. John was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Tooker on June 19, 2000; a sister, Margaret Edwards in 1989; and his parents. Survivors include a daughter, Mary K. Chandler and husband, Leon of Orlando, FL; three sons, William T. Tooker of San Diego, CA; John S. Tooker and wife, Maria of Rio Rancho, NM; and James A. Tooker of San Jose, CA. Also surviving are five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew. Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2002 at the Fort Sumner Cemetery in Fort Sumner, NM with family friend, Rev. George B. Hisel officiating. Burial will be in the Tooker family plot. Vittitow -- Richard Meredith Vittitow, 63, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 24, 2002. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on December 16, 1938 to Bennet Vittitow and Elsie Frasure Vittitow who preceded him in death. The family came to New Mexico in 1948. Richard graduated from Highland High School in 1957 and attended UNM for three years, leaving to enter the bricklayers apprenticeship program. He began working at Bradbury Stamm Construction Co. in 1960, and started estimating in 1964, working with Bradbury Stamm over the next 38 years becoming a project manager, vice president and member of the Board of Directors, retiring in 1998. Following retirement, he worked for Shiver Construction and was employed by Star Construction at the time of his death. He organized the Roadrunner Chapter of the American Society of Professional Estimators and served in many positions including Rocky Mountain Governor and National First Vice President. He was a member of Hoffmantown Baptist Church. Richard is survived by his wife of 38 years, Linda; two sons; Daniel and wife Tonia of Houston, Texas and Darren and wife Kim of Blanchard, Oklahoma; three grandsons, Richard, Drake and Jacob Vittitow; sister, JoAnne Rolan-Nichols and family Jimmy, Kenny and Patti; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Richard succumbed after a lifelong battle with asthma and chronic lung disease. Best known for his dry wit, the art of negotiation and love of life, he was an award-winning gardener, who loved to fish and delighted in his family. He will be sorely missed by all. Services will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m., at Hoffmantown Church, 8888 Harper NE, with Rev. Ken Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Wareham -- Richard T. Wareham, 96, died on March 24, 2002 in Albuquerque. He was born October 2, 1905 on a farm in Richland County, OH, the eldest of eight children. His education ranged from a one-room school through a Ph.D. in botany from Ohio State University. He worked as an educator his entire life teaching elementary through middle school, high school, and Ohio State University. For 24 years he was an editor of science textbooks for D.C. Health & Co. in Boston, during which time he helped raise two daughters. He spent his first retirement as Professor of Biology and head of the Biology Department at Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire, while renovating a historic farmhouse in Jaffrey, NH. His final career was as a master of woven-seat chair caning, which he continued until after his 96th birthday. He was accompanied for 63 years by his wife, Alice D. Wareham, as they moved from Ohio to Massachusetts, New Hampshire, back to Ohio, Florida, and finally to Albuquerque to join their daughters and grandchildren. He and Alice traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and around the world. He was a member of numerous botanical, scientific and civic organizations, including the Audubon Society, garden clubs everywhere he lived, Kiwanis Clubs, Sigma Si, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He delivered Meals on Wheels in Albuquerque until after his 91st birthday. He played golf on his 96th birthday. Siblings who died before him are William Wareham, Marjorie W. Durst, Eleanor W. Schmunk, Martha Wareham, and Elizabeth W. Luby. He is survived by his brother, G. Bernard Wareham of Accokeek, MD; and sister, Lois W. Peterson of Cleveland, OH; daughters, Barbara W. Friedman of Los Lunas, NM and Caroline Wareham of El Rito, NM; grandchildren, Sara, Ella and Joey Friedman; numerous in-laws, including son-in-law, Bruce Smith; and nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives all over the country will remember his relentlessly inquiring mind. His last days were spent with his family, under the care of La Vida Llena Health Care and Sandia Hospice. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial will be held at La Vida Llena, 10501 Lagrima de Oro NE, Albuquerque on April 4, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. and his ashes will be buried in the family plot in Shelby, OH at a later date. Watson -- Hubert Doyle Watson age 79, former Albuquerque resident passed away in the Trigg Memorial Hospital in Tucumcari, NM on Tuesday, March 26, 2002 following an extended illness. Hubert Doyle Watson was born April 17, 1922 in Ralls, TX. He was a heavy equipment operator for many years and was retired from being a heavy equipment mechanic. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tucumcari, NM. Surviving Hubert Doyle Watson are three daughters, Donna Begier and husband, Roland of Tucumcari, NM, Darla Harrison and husband, Buddy of Cleveland, TX, Adele Bryan and husband, David of Amarillo, TX; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Hugh Watson of Tucumcari. He is preceded in death by his wife, Laura Lucille Watson. Funeral Services will be Saturday morning in the Dunn Memorial Chapel at 10:00 a.m. with Graveside Funeral Services following in the Sandia Memory Gardens in Albuquerque, NM at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

Young -- Phillip Samuel Young died in his home with his family near him on Tuesday, March 26, 2002. He died of pulmonary fibrosis at the age of 83. He was born in Afton, Iowa on November 4, 1918. As a child he attended school in a one room school house, and later graduated from Afton High School. He attended the University of Iowa for several semesters before returning home to the farm with his father. He married Iris Tyler of Afton in 1942. They made their home alternately in Iowa and Albuquerque until they settled in New Mexico in 1954. Phil was a gifted gardener, and carried his ambitions to the very end, evidenced by his desire to plant a garden this spring. Just last year he sold a bumper crop of organically grown tomatoes at the Growers Market at the Fire Station in the Village of Los Ranchos, on Rio Grande Boulevard. He managed the LDS welfare farm in Grants, NM from 1973 to 1976. He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served in many leadership positions over the years. He leaves many friends from the LDS Church. His career in Engineering at Sandia Labs spanned more than two decades. Phil retired in 1982 so he and his wife, Iris, could return to Iowa to help his mother, Ethel Young farm her land and care for her until her death in 1986. He has devoted himself to countless genealogical endeavors, including volunteer work at the Genealogical Library on Haines Ave., NE. His main joy in life was his wife, children and grandchildren. Even at the very end, he expressed appreciation and happiness for them as individuals who had found joy and fulfillment in their own lives."Gramps" will be remembered with love by the following family members, brother, John (Lucille) Young; and sister, Pauline (Lynn) Parrott all of Iowa; children, Mark Lyle Young (Joylene Bailey Young) of Heidelberg, Germany; and their four children, Amanda Mefford, Lyle Young, Lindsey Young and Emily Young; Brooke Young Chancellor (George) of Bozeman, Montana; and their daughters, Summer Davidson and Heather Froggit; Devon Young Frost (Greg) of Albuquerque; and their sons, Greg Frost Jr. and Derek Swofford; and Jaynan Young Chancellor (Russ) of Logan, Utah; and their two sons, Hyrum and Ford Chancellor.
